I would highly recommend this tour with Kay. She was a fabulous, knowledgeable guide who kept everyone engaged, even the non-history buffs in the group. We learned a tremendous amount about the history of the city and will easily remember it thanks to Kay’s ability to weave humor into every story and highlight the most interesting details.

Kay was a wonderful tour guide and had so much knowledge and interesting facts to share about the city. She was extremely kind and funny which made the tour very enjoyable. I have already recommended her to some friends and will continue to do so for anyone I talk to traveling to Charleston. This was the highlight of our trip!
This was a fun, thorough and truly enjoyable tour. Kay knows the city inside and out, from its beginnings to the present moment. She is also delightful company. One of the best walking tours we have ever taken. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time on our walking tour of Charleston with Kay! Kay was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and made the entire experience so enjoyable. We loved hearing all the interesting stories and learning things about Charleston that we never would have known otherwise. If you’re visiting Charleston, I highly recommend booking a tour with Kay. You won’t be disappointed!
My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Kay, a former teacher, was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable we could have easily spent all day with her. Charleston is a beautiful place but to know the back story is so important to fully understanding how it came to be & how it has evolved into the destination it is today. Take this tour with Kay, you won't be sorry!
Kay did a great job of being informative while engaging. We feel we learned a lot about the city and where we would like to go next. It was really great and although warm outside she did a great job during the 2 hrs of incorporating cool locations as well.
Kay was so fun, personable and informative. We learned so many interesting things about the history of Charleston and she knew answers to all our questions. Would highly recommend doing this tour next time you visit Charleston!
Kay Abrams was the best! when I was in Charleston last year, I looked over and saw Kay talking to a group of people giving a tour. I love the way she was talking to all of them and I said to myself I want her to give me a tour someday. Well, I booked a tour with her for me and my friend and she was absolutely the best. she was so helpful in giving me directions, she was prompt and gave us a great tour. She was so informative and I loved how she spoke as if she was there during that time. I loved how she had her little goodies in her handbag. She had electrolytes for us, she had bug spray for us, and her knowledge of the history was phenomenal. I especially was drawn to her love for the city and all the people in it. She was so upbeat and loving to all the women making the sweet grass baskets and had lollipops for them and gave them a kiss. She was so attentive to the beautiful women walking by in their Southern outfits with their hats and she complimented them. I am definitely going to book another tour with her and I think anyone who is looking for an informative, relaxing, fun time should book their tour with Kay!
Kay was a high energy tour guide who clearly enjoys what she does. He broad in-depth knoledge of Charleston was impressive. Look no further. This is the walking tour of Charleston to take.
We had such a fun and informational tour with Kay! This was our first time down in Charleston and she made it so memorable for us! Would recommend to everyone coming here
Kay was excellent! Couldn’t have had a better tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and energetic.
Great experience. Rachel was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable. Loved every minute of our 2 hours.
Kay is wonderful! Her warmth and enthusiasm made for the perfect Saturday morning walking tour. You can tell she was a teacher in her past life. She kept us so engaged as she shared her knowledge and passion for Charleston’s history. Highly recommend booking a tour with Kay if you want an experience that’s as fun as it is informative!
Excellent tour with Kay. She was super knowledgeable, made the tour fun, and tailored it to our interests. I would highly recommend her!
What a great tour! Kay was fantastic. So knowledgeable and took us places the carriages can’t go. This is absolutely what we wanted. Gave us all the insight we needed to enjoy old Charleston. Don’t be afraid it will be to exhausting. If you can walk up and down King Street shopping all day, this is a piece of cake. We had a wonderful time. Thank you, Kay, for a great tour!
Kay was amazing! We did a 2 hour walking tour and she made sure we went to the places we wanted to see. She taught us so much about the history, architecture, vegetation, industrial elements of Charleston. She is a wealth of knowledge! We would recommend her tour to everyone!
She is very engaging and takes the tour to places other tours don’t. She is very friendly and seems to know everyone. And she really knows her stuff.
Kay was amazingly helpful to us since we actually showed up for the wrong tour a day early! We asked for her to arrange it so we could stay with her group and she did very quickly. We are glad we did because she had a great personality and a very expansive knowledge of historic Charleston. Her love for Charleston was displayed un every step we took. Highly recommend!
This was a fantastic tour! Kay was fun, energetic and very knowledgeable. We could feel her love for Charleston as she shared the history to our group. The length of time of this tour was perfect. We were so glad we did the tour and the the knowledge we gained helped enhance the rest of our stay in Charleston!
Kay is knowledgeable and worked extra hard to help us learn about and appreciate Charleston. She went WAAAAAAAY beyond names and dates, digging into the “why” and “how” of this amazing city. She’s thoughtful, energetic, funny, entertaining, and handles difficult subjects such as slavery and secession in a factual, non-judgmental way. Her deep understanding of cultural issues sparkled throughout our tour (and she even spent an extra 30 minutes because we’d asked so many questions and she’s so darned interesting!) She’s clearly passionate about this city, and like all talented people in the education field, she didn’t try to “teach” us; she helped us learn. Call Kay first!
Kay is a very knowledgeable tour guide and seems to know folks all along the walk. I highly recommend her!
Friends recommended Kate and we were glad they did. She was informative, welcoming, and happy to answer all questions. It was a great way to learn about Charleston. Plus she suggested a delicious French restaurant for lunch that no tourist would find!
Kay was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Would highly recommend. Ĺ
Our second time with Kay Abrams and we hope to book with her again when we have out-of-town guests. She's informative fun, kind, thoughtful of her guests. A great Charleston experience!
If you think all tour guides are basically the same, think again! Kay Abrams is in a league of her own. We’ve taken plenty of tours, but Kay isn’t your typical guide. She brings a level of deep knowledge and genuine passion that you just don't find every day. Even on a biting, cold Charleston day, Kay’s warmth and approachable personality made the entire experience feel cozy and incredibly engaging. She is so pleasant to listen to and has a way of making history come alive without it feeling like a lecture. If you want a tour that feels like exploring the city with a brilliant friend, book with Kay. She truly made our trip!
Fabulous walking tour around beautiful Charleston. I would highly recommend this tour and guide. We learned so much about the rich history of Charleston as we strolled around the lovely streets. Kay was very engaging, knowledgeable, friendly, and great fun!
Very enjoyable walking tour! Our guide Steve Bailey was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Having a small group was great—time for questions but still a perfect pace. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Loved the tour and our guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has a wonderful, fun sense of humor. We really felt like we got to know Charleston and its charm and unvarnished history. Highly recommend this tour.
What a charming and informative and entertaining tour. Small in number. Kay was fantastic.
Friendly, fun. Lots of information and perfect walking tour! Highly recommended! Nice pace & beautiful city.
Beautiful city, beautiful tour with Kay! Learned so much history and a few good laughs along the way too! This tour had style! Highly recommended.
Kay was awesome. She knew all the local history and spots and also the interesting stories and side alleys. I would highly recommend Kay to anyone looking for a great tour guide.
If you’re visiting Charleston, do yourself a favor and book a walking tour with Kay — she is absolutely phenomenal. Kay brings Charleston’s history to life in a way that’s engaging, informative, and genuinely fun. Her knowledge of the city is incredible, and she shares stories you won’t find in guidebooks. Whether it’s historic landmarks, hidden alleyways, or local legends, she makes every stop feel meaningful. What really sets Kay apart is her personality — warm, funny, and clearly passionate about what she does. She keeps the group entertained the entire time while still making sure everyone feels included and comfortable. If you want more than just a basic tour and actually want to experience Charleston, Kay is the guide you need. Highly recommend!
I recently had the pleasure of taking a walking tour in Charleston, SC, with Kay Abrams, and I truly cannot recommend her enough. From the moment the tour began, Kay brought the city’s rich history to life in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. Her knowledge is incredibly impressive, but what really sets her apart is how she delivers it, never dull or overwhelming, but instead fun, interactive, and full of personality. Kay has such a warm, outgoing, and friendly demeanor that instantly puts everyone at ease. She kept our group interested the entire time, blending fascinating historical details with entertaining stories that made the experience memorable. On top of that, she’s a fantastic resource for local recommendations. Whether you’re looking for great places to eat, visit, or explore further, Kay is more than happy to share her insider tips. As someone visiting from Chicago, I can honestly say this was one of the highlights of my trip. If you’re planning a visit to Charleston, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Kay; you won’t be disappointed! Smile, Suzanne Halaska
Our 12 year old granddaughters loved the walking tour with Rachel. She was kind and engaging, not only with them, but with the four adults on the tour as well. She was very knowledgeable and taught all of us a lot about the history of Charleston. We were grateful for a small group of 6 people. There were many other large groups that we were able to pass along the way. Their guides were having to talk really loud to be heard by all the people in their groups, and of course, we were able to move a lot faster and probably saw a lot more than they did. (Thank you Kay for having Rachel be our guide while you were away!)
Kay is such a vibrant guide, filled with great stories and outstanding knowledge of the history and topography of Charleston. We were fortunate to be joined by a single, lovely couple and the five of us enjoyed the tour immensely. I would certainly recommend Kay to anyone looking for a broad understanding of how very special this beautiful city is.
We had a wonderful tour with Kay! She shared so much history of the city! I highly recommend her tours.
Charming tour of historic Charleston. Kay brings to life the history (both the glory and gloom) from the Revolutionary War to the rebirth and conservation of the city. She is knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommend!
Kay is an absolute gem. Her depth of knowledge about Charleston is remarkable — she brings the city’s history, architecture, and stories to life in a way that feels effortless and engaging. What really sets her apart is how intentionally she keeps her groups small. It means she can tailor the tour to what you care about, whether that’s food, history, architecture, or hidden local details you’d never find on your own. She’s also incredibly kind. She makes everyone feel welcome, included, and comfortable, and she has a wonderful way of reading the group’s energy and adjusting the pace and focus so it always feels personal. If you want a tour that’s thoughtful, informative, and genuinely enjoyable, Kay is the one to book. She made Charleston feel even more special.
The tour was outstanding, and we highly recommend it. Rachel provided wonderful descriptions of Charleston's history, key events that occurred over time, the architecture of buildings, and life in Charleston through various historical periods. Both she and Kay shared stories, lending insight and humor. This was a marvelous introduction to your lovely city.
Excellent experience! We absolutely loved our walking tour, and our guide Kay was fantastic. She is incredibly kind, engaging, and has wonderful charisma. She truly made the experience special. Highly recommended!
Kay was an absolutely fabulous tour guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and current happenings within the city. She also told me about some books I could get to learn even more about the city. The tour was fun, easy to follow, and very interesting. Thank you, Kay, for a wonderful day!
Kay was wonderful. Very knowledgeable of the rich history in Charleston and her gift of storytelling made this tour elevated and extra special.
Our Tour Group Leader, Kay Abrams, was amazing. She shared different architectural features and other historical details that I had never heard before. Small group is the way to go.
We had an amazing tour with KAY! We were down on a work function with our spouses and did a couple hour walk with her. It was chilly outside, but that did not phase her as she took her time and explained anything we asked. At the end of it my wife said to me that she wants to do a walking tour in every city we go to, how much fun she had. Her caveat that the tour guide has to be like Kay. Thank you for the great tour.
Had the chance to meet Kay, the tour operator, and Rachel, my tour guide. Given the weather perhaps, I was the only one who'd signed up today. Rachel is just amazing: encyclopedic knowledge of the city, historical context, and just an awesome person. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and hope to do another one during my next visit.
Kay was a really great tour guide! This is the second time we worked with her and she was able to give us new and fun information. You can tell she’s really passionate about Charleston and her enthusiasm is evident throughout the entire tour. She’s more than happy to answer any question you have and goes out of the of her way to make sure you’re happy. I would highly recommend.
Kay doesn't just give you facts, she has great stories about everything we saw. She makes a really interesting town even more interesting and FUN.
We loved this tour! I am a local to Charleston and booked this tour for my mom, who was visiting. I learned a ton and would definitely do this tour again, even without out-of-town guests.
Kay Abrams was our tour guide and she was phenomenal. My wife and I learned so much about this city. She fit so much information into two hours while keeping it fun. We are so happy with our experience and will recommend her to anyone who comes to the area.
