My wife and I had an amazing time with Kay on our walk yesterday. She was very informative and knowledgeable of the city’s history. Our tour was 2 hours and it was the perfect length! We definitely would recommend her!
We loved Kay! She was very fun and the tour was educational.
Kay did a wonderful tour for us! So knowledgeable and she was so friendly. She knew many of the people on the route personally and it was fun to see so many positive interactions throughout our tour!
Kay led our group of 8 on a wonderful tour of Charleston. She included fascinating history, architecture, culture and great advice. We had lots of questions and her knowledge was endless. I highly recommend any tour with her.
We loved the tour. Kay was an encyclopedia of knowledge with the ability to talk clear and fast without spitting! Seriously she has mad history skills! It was delightful to be part of her tour. She was very entertaining and engaging. We loved it!
Kay was a fantastic tour guide. Definitely the highlight of our trip. Easy to hang with, very knowledgeable, and fun experience. Learned so much about the city that we would not have gotten through one of the less formal or carriage tours. This is definitely a must do when in Charleston!
If you get the opportunity, make sure you book a tour with Kay! She is engaging and enthusiastic about Charleston, its people, and its history. A former teacher, Kay knows how to keep everyone interested and even has visuals to help you understand the way Charleston developed through time. My sisters and I did a private tour with Kay in the heat of July. Instead of having us walk to the meeting point, she offered to come get us in her car, picking us up at the hotel and keeping us as cool as possible while she led us through town. We have already recommended her to friends and family who live in the area. She's a great tour guide and just a lovely person with whom to spend a day. She got an A++ from our group. Thank you, Kay! We hope to take another tour with you in the future, Millie, Elizabeth, and Lee
One of the greatest tours I’ve been on.
Kay was great. Clear communication prior to meeting. She has so much knowledge and can easily customize what you're looking to learn abou this beautiful city. Walking is definately the best way to see the city. Only wish our tour could have been longer but our time didn't permit.
Kay Abrams gave us a beautiful tour of historic Charleston! She gave us so much interesting information, and she was a joy to be with. Her passion for giving an informative yet fun tour is evident. My husband and I want our grown kids to do the tour with her when they come to Charleston, too!
Our private tour of Charleston was outstanding for our whole group, from teens to older adults. We wanted to focus on Jewish history of Charleston. Kay was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much history, local insight, and interesting details in a fun and engaging way that kept everyone interested. Kay was very accommodating with on-the-go adjustments throughout the tour. We appreciated the perfect balance of detailed information, humor, and flexibility. Highly recommend for families or mixed-age groups looking for a memorable Charleston experience!”
We were in Charleston for a family wedding weekend. Most of us had never been there before, so we really wanted a concentrated way to get to know the city’s history. Kay gave our private group a fabulous tour! She’s knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. Very responsive and easy to work with as we made our plans. We learned a lot and completely enjoyed the experience. We’ve done walking tours in quite a few cities, and Kay was one of the best guides we’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
Our family gathered for an 80th birthday celebration in Charleston and our tour with Kay was one of the top, if not the top, experiences for each of us! She is extremely knowledgeable, witty, and made the history of Charleston come alive! She’s also insightful and funny and touched on architecture, anecdotes, and famous or infamous citizens as we wandered down little tucked away alleys and historic streets. We learned so much as she kept us moving, even though it was raining! She also recommended other things for us to do that turned out great. For example, she suggested we change our boat trip to Fort Sumter to the first boat so we could experience the flag raising. She also recommended we go to the Nathaniel Russell house because the docent is excellent. (And she was! ) We highly recommend Kay!
Kay’s private walking tour with our extended family was so informative and lively. She has a wealth of knowledge about Charleston history and imparts it with enthusiasm. We learned so much about Charleston and had a lot of fun in the process! We would all recommend Kay!
If this was all I saw of Charleston, my cup would be full! Kay Abrams is not only a lovely person, but she is smart, funny and passionate about Charleston and its history. She brought everything to life. I felt as if the stories were actually happening as my husband and I followed her through time. She gave more than we could have ever hoped for with her personal knowledge of not only history but architecture and protocols of the time. It was exciting, educational and great fun! Worth every penny spent and more! Thank you Kay for making this trip so very special. Dr William and Diane Suval Apple Valley, CA
We have traveled the world and have done plenty of tours. Kay was the best! She was so knowledgeable and engaging. She was FUN! We had two days with her and enjoyed every second. We would HIGHLY recommend her!
GO WITH KAY!!! Kay is amazing! Fun, knowledgeable, and very chic. She was full of energy, adapted the tour to our interests and whims, and she felt like a part of the family by the need!
We had a great experience on our private walking tour of Charleston with Kay. She was incredibly friendly, engaging, and clearly very knowledgeable about the city’s history, architecture, and culture. She made everything easy to understand and kept the tour interesting the entire time. The 2.5 hours flew by, which is always a good sign—you can tell we were really enjoying ourselves. It felt very personalized, and Kay was happy to answer questions and tailor parts of the tour to our interests, which made it even more special. The only thing to keep in mind is the cost. A private tour is naturally more expensive than a group option, so it’s worth considering what type of experience you’re looking for. That said, if you value a more intimate, customized experience, Kay is a fantastic choice. Overall, we’d definitely recommend her for a Charleston walking tour!
Kay did a fantastic job of touring us around the historic parts of Charleston. She is super friendly, knowledgeable, and full of interesting facts. She is also highly regarded by her peers as
Our private tour with Kay was a highlight of our trip to Charleston. We learned so much local history as we toured Boone Plantation. Some of the slave history is quite hard to hear, yet important to know. We appreciated that Kay was intentional about pacing the tour and sharing her knowledge catering to our desires and interests. Kay is very knowledgeable and shared a lot of details that were fun to learn that we wouldn't have learned on our own, about city history, slave life, culture, etc. We spent a full 6 hours together and enjoyed every minute! In addition to being knowledgeable Kay was friendly and easy going, so we were very comfortable sharing our day with her, even enjoying a nice lunch stop together. We would highly recommend Kay as your guide, and would for sure book another tour with Kay, if we come back to Charleston.
Kay Abrams is an A++guide. We were a small group of five. Kowledgeable, welcome lots of questions, leisurely pace.
K was an excellent guide. The information she shared was so knowledgeable, applicable, and just brought in so many pieces of history and how it applies to where we were. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a walking tour as much as I did with her yesterday. We absolutely loved it.
We had a wonderful experience with Walk It! Charleston, and especially with our tour guide, Kay. She was extremely informative, engaging, and truly exceptional at bringing Charleston’s history to life. Kay is a former teacher, and it absolutely shows — she has a gift for explaining details in a way that is clear, memorable, and fascinating. She also used visual aids to connect the stories to what we were seeing, which made the experience even richer. We toured around the grand homes South of Broad, and she was brilliant in her knowledge of the historical facts surrounding the old Port of Charleston, the industries of the day, and the development of the city over time. She also shared colorful stories that made each neighborhood feel distinct and alive. What impressed us most was that it seemed like she knew everyone who had ever lived in those magnificent homes — and their life story! She drove us to the tip of the peninsula and ended the experience with a walking tour that was absolutely magnificent. It was the perfect combination of comfort, storytelling, and beautiful scenery. We live in Folly Beach and had guests visiting from out of town, and they were completely blown away by this tour. It was one of the highlights of their visit and a wonderful way to experience Charleston.
Kay was amazing! She shared her knowledge and love of history through stories, which were interesting and relatable. We had a wonderful time exploring the city and learning. Kay tailored the tour to our interests. Our party of 3 had a great time and would recommend Kay to anyone!
Walk it Charleston with Kay Abrams. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Kay! She is energetic, loves what she does and is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to the history of Charleston. I especially enjoyed her knowledge of the history of so many houses in the downtown historic area. You will not be disappointed! This was truly a 5 star tour!
Mother daughter trip and we had the best time with Kay. She was exceptional her wealth of knowledge, history and fun facts had us captivated throughout the tour. We had so much fun and didn’t want the tour to end. Kay was incredible I would highly recommend her and will use her again when I come back. The personal touch is priceless - her energy is infectious absolutely loved this tour
Kay was so knowledgeable. Her tour was both interesting and fun! I would highly recommend her over any tour guide! We absolutely loved her!
Kay's tour was excellent. She is very knowledgeable and told great stories. She made sure we didn't walk too fast. I would recommend tis tour to everyone
Kay was the best tour guide!! So so knowledgeable, was able to answer any question thrown her way. Positive and upbeat attitude with the best stories. Also seems to know everyone and the owners of many houses we passed by in the alley tour. Obviously very respected and adored in the Charleston community! 10/10 recommend.
Kay was fabulous. She did some initial probing of our knowledge/interests and tailored her historical information based on what we would find interesting and educational. She is very friendly, funny, and very interesting. Any and all questions are welcome. The tour went by very quickly. Loved it!!!
Kay is the whole package. Fun, engaging, interesting and witty. Not only did she research what our group wanted, but also delivered in spades. I don’t believe there’s another person that knows as much about Charleston and its history than Kay!
Kay Abrams was a fantastic tour guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has a passion for Charleston history. We were thrilled with our tour and referred friends the next day. I would not use any other tour guide if you are looking for an informative and adventurous tour of the city!
A friend and I had the most amazing 3 hour walking tour with Kay. She was so knowledgeable and gave so much historical information about Charleston. Also very fun to be with.
Our group had absolutely the best time with Kay on this tour of Charleston! So much history in this city and she has the knowledge to tell you all about it! I would highly recommend this tour if you are visiting. If you live there, take the tour anyway! You might learn a thing or two! First class all the way!
Our guide, Kay, was extraordinarily knowledgeable about the history, the good and the bad, of Charleston and shared it in an interesting and fun manner. Highly recommend this tour!
We had the opportunity to take a tour of Charleston while in town for a wedding, and our guide Kay was simply amazing. She was very knowledgeable of the city, and her infectious personality made the tour even more enjoyable!
My wife, my daughter and I did the walking tour led by guide Kay Abrams. Kay showed us the beautiful historical quarters of Charleston, in a truly amazing tour that took about two very interesting hours. Kay’s in-depth knowledge about the history of Charleston is outstanding, and her narrative style truly engaging and a lot of fun with lively stories from many centuries. We would highly recommend future visitors to join the tour. And if you happen to stay in the gorgeous Hotel Bennett than we highly recommend to talk to the Head Concierge Kevin McQuade, who is outstandingly knowledgeable about all you need to know about Charleston and who recommended the tour with Kay to us.
Kay Abrams was so beyond amazing! She was so personable and friendly and knew every date and name of every historical building. Kay was recommended to me by a friend and now I can’t recommend her more. You will not be disappointed having a tour with Kay!
We went on this walking tour during a girls’ trip to Charleston and absolutely loved it! Our guide, Kay, was lovely — friendly, knowledgeable, and full of fun stories about the city’s history. We saw some really unique spots that we never would’ve found on our own and learned so much along the way. It was the perfect mix of sightseeing and local insight. Highly recommend!
Kay was exceptional! Het combination of architectural, cultural, historical knowledge made the tour unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Wonderful tour. Guide had both a deep and broad knowledge of Charleston history. Clearly, she loves her adopted city but was not shy about being candid about its links to the slave trade and slavery’s evils. Also interspersed humor and was adept at mixing both history and architectural commentary throughout the tour. Would highly recommend it.
Kay was amazing and so extremely knowledgeable. We learned so much about the history of Charleston. Highly recommend doing the tour with Kay!
Kay is one of a kind! I have been on other walking tours in Charleston and this was by far, the BEST! She was so knowledgeable, engaging and really customized the experience based on what my mom and I were most interested in - architecture, design, and a dash of Southern Charm. We learned so much about the history of Charleston - she made the tour interesting and entertaining. We cannot wait for a part II with her next visit. Hands down she is the best!
Kay Abrams was FANTASTIC!! One of the best & most informative tours I have ever been on. Book with her, you will not be disappointed. If I had her as my HS history teacher, I would’ve have been a history major in college!
So awesome — Kay was THE BEST! Would do it again with her and recommend to anyone! She was so very knowledgeable and thorough!!
Kay vividly brought Charleston’s long history to life. I would highly recommend a small group or private tour with Kay.
Fantastic Charleston tour! Kay, was an absolute gem—knowledgeable, engaging, and full of personality. It was super fun - highly recommend.
Kay was unbelievable. We’ve done probably close to 100 historical walking tours at various sites throughout the world. The knowledge depth, sincere enthusiasm, and customizability that Kay is able to provide is unparalleled. It didn’t feel like walking with your guide, rather a very close friend whose wholly committed on getting you up to speed on the thing she loves the most (aside from her dogs….and kids).
Kay is absolutely wonderful! This was our second time visiting and touring with her in Charleston, and it felt like visiting an old friend. She is an incredible storyteller, has a vast knowledge of the history of the area, and was flexible with our group’s needs. We had such a fun time spending our morning with Kay and would highly recommend her services to anyone.
