Coleman was a terrific guide....being a born and bred Charlestonian his knowledge of the city's history was impressive. What set this tour apart from the usual was his knowledge of both the culture and the architecture of the area. A bonus was his discussion of the area's botanicals: trees, plants and flowers that he pointed out walking through Charleston's hidden alleys. I would highly recommend Bull Dog Tours after this memorable experience.

Nice wiews of Oldtown of Charleston, many interesting historical facts
This tour was 2 hours of standing/walking around a busy part of Charleston. Our tour guide was sweet but very soft spoken. There were over 20 people on the tour. After the first stop, our group decided it was too hard to hear and too many in the group. I’d suggest limiting the number in the future. We left the tour. Hope it went well for the others.
Gordon Perry was our guide and was great. Knowledgeable and personable and organized. Would recommend highly
We had Diane and she was exceptional! Loved this tour, learned a lot and would recommend it to everyone visiting!
Excellent tour filled with architectural and historical information. Easy walk and took just over 2 hours. Our guide David shared stories, history, and personal anecdotes to make the tour one of the best we’ve ever taken
Our tour guide Diane R. was exceptional! She was so knowledgeable and added so much personality as a guide. Her talks never sounded like a record just played over and over. We felt so lucky to have such a wonderful walking tour with the best guide!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the city of Charleston and she provided additional information to us about things we can do in the city as well as places to eat.
Such a great informative tour of the downtown area. Our tour guide, Graham was so full of fun facts while we strolled through the downtown streets! We were glad we wore sneakers due to the cracked sidewalks and cobblestone roads. Don’t hesitate to bring a water bottle as there is a potty break mid tour! Our guide was also so nice to take pictures of our group along the way!
Our guide Scott was exceptional. He was so very knowledgable about Charleston history and architecture, and told it in a way that was fun and interesting. Just the right amount of detail, not too much, not too little. Also, he is clearly a person who keeps up with the latest in Charleston society, he had lots of interesting information about recent happenings in the neighborhoods we walked through. Just perfect!
This was a very good way to see the city and learn its history! We enjoyed hearing personal stories as well!
We wanted a smaller private tour for our family and Bulldog Tours was amazing!! They asked about our interests, our intended time frame..and they created a WONDERFUL TOUR just for us! Our guide, Faith, gave us such insight into a wonderful, history laden city. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were on full display. It was an interactive and exciting day...and we will gladly do it again in the future!
George, who was our guide, was excellent. At every location, he went into great detail to explain the facts. In addition, because it was a group of only 6 people we never felt rushed.
Gordon Perry was an amazing guide. He had so much knowledge and truly cared about our tour experience. His quick wit and upbeat personality made the tour one of our favorite stops on our vacation.
Highly recommended! Tour was well structured and very organized from beginning to end. James our guide, was amazing throughout the entire tour.
We booked the Charleston Strolls Walk With History Tour in Aug 2026. Our guide was Paige Lewis. She was a living history book! So knowledgeable, passionate And eager to share as much history and information about the city as possible. Absolutely 5 stars!
Dave was a wonderful guide and very informative! Would definitely recommend this tour!👍♥️
Janet was an amazing guide with great knowledge of the city and history. We got a good mix of history and fun facts along with all the city charming homes and she showed us the less seen alleyways that led to beautiful courtyards.
Dave, our tour guide was terrific. Knowledgeable, funny, and very engaging. Nothing more to say but I have to fulfill the hundred character minimum of this review which is absurd.
If you want to truly experience the timeless charm and rich heritage of Charleston, this walking tour is an absolute must. Strolling down the historic streets and taking in the breathtaking 18th- and 19th-century architecture feels like stepping back into a more gracious era. Mr. James and his stories were absolute perfection! He brought the grand churches, hidden courtyards, alleyways, antebellum mansions, and iconic pastel facades of Rainbow Row to life with incredible depth and engaging storytelling. The route offers a wonderful blend of scenic beauty and historical context, making it the ultimate way to get acquainted with the Holy City. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates classic elegance, architectural depth, and a memorable, immersive experience;)
This was a great tour. Keith was awesome! Extremely knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and really gave us great insights and understanding of the city's role in the American Revolution and Civil War. Keith has lived in Charleston his entire life and is passionate about the city - he reads Charleston history for fun! Plus he gave us some great insights about the city he grew up in and how it has changed to become the incredible place it is today. I highly recommend this one!
June was the best guide. She had such incredible knowledge of the area and even historical facts about where each of us hailed from. I learned a lot of fun and interesting things on this tour and would recommend it to anyone that has a couple hours to spare and wants to see more of the city than just King St.
Andrew Kuhn was excellent. He was well informed, exercised good pacing, chose interesting spots and anwered questions fully. He is charmingly passionate about charleston and its history, the good and bad.
Nancy, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the areas she took us to and the tour was very informative! Enjoyed it very much!
Excellent tour. Guide very knowledgeable and helpful. Great way to get oriented to sights and history.
Susan was great and very knowledgeable about city history We saw some beautiful homes and gardens I recommend this tour!!
This was a wonderful tour for lovers of history. Our guide (oops, so sorry that I cannot recall his name) was so knowledgeable and very passionate about history and the culture of the area. I especially appreciated his explaining historical backgrounds, including about the Gullah people and culture.
We loved the walking tour of Charleston, and this is my second time of having a great day and learning experience after booking with Bulldog Tours. Charleston is one of the United States' most beautiful and historic cities, and there is are so many fascinating stories and facts we would have missed had we not had the deep knowledge of the city and enthusiasm to share its history and charm with our tour group. Can't recommend them enough and the perfect way to get to know a centuries-old, gorgeous city in just a few hours.
This was a fantastic way to get your bearings in Charleston. As a local Charlestonian, our tour guide Keith was amazing at providing insight into both city history and modern culture. I appreciated that this tour didn't have one single focus; Rather, we discussed architecture and real estate, religious history, naval influence, cuisine and cocktails, Southern Charm, and of course sights to know. Taking the tour with Keith made me feel a part of the city rather than just a passerby. I will absolutely be booking with them again in the future. Thank you again "Uncle Keith"!
Great historical perspective on a beautiful City. The guide, James, was very knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about his home.
Very informative. Love to hear the stories of the town that would would not otherwise know. Clara was a great guide.
Tour was terrific, Coleman was extremely knowledgeable and hit all the highlights of Charleston. Highly recommend
Very enjoyable and so much great information. Our guide (Mike, I think) was so passionate and knowledgeable and it's a great opportunity to stroll and take photos.
Gordon set a good pace for the 2-hour historic walking tour. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and answered lots of questions the group had. We went by churches, Rainbow Row and the Battery among other places. It was a great tour and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Keith was everything we always wanted in a teacher: knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned so much and painlessly! And remembered all the high points. We were fascinated as were our co-walkers. No flagging of interest among them. Excellent tour
Mike was awesome. Loved our tour.
Very informative . Nice walk in places I would not have gone
Excellent informative tour. Our tour guide Ann was wonderful , accommodating and knowledgeable of Charleston’s history
Mike was outstanding! The tour was so interesting and informative. We learned many facts about the American revolution and Civil War that really explained how important Charleston was to our American history. I would highly recommend this tour with Mike. Be aware, this walk is fairly easy but you're walking on uneven surfaces.
We had a fantastic experience with our guide Ann. She is so knowledgeable as a native of Charleston and gave us a great idea of how it's changed over the years. She gave the perfect amount of information and we saw so much of the city!
Perfect tour! And loved our tour guide! Highly recommend.
Mike Hebb was a wealth of fascinating information about Charleston. He taught us about the architecture, military history, the roads, churches, the people and so much more. There were 7 of us on the tour and we all discussed how much we learned. We strongly recommend the tour and especially Mike.
David was a wonderful tour guide, so knowledgeable, personable, and interesting. The best tour we took in Charleston, thank you David!
You will be standing and walking for 2 hours. The guide was very knowledgeable and informative about Charleston. It is a worthwhile tour. I am so glad we did it.
The effort to book and take a tour was pleasant and efficient. I was traveling with my 30 lb. dog who was welcomed on the outdoor walking tour. The Historic walking tour was excellent. Gordon; our tour guide, was prompt, informed and provided a comprehensive review of Charleston history. I highly recommend Bulldog tours. LL
There is no way I could have learned as much as I did had I toured on my own. Tour was very thorough. Fran is a native of Charleston, and her love and knowledge of the city is unparalleled! I’d recommend 100%!
I had the privilege of going on a Charleston Stroll- A Walk with History tour with Faith and she was EXCELLENT! Her knowledge, kindness, and ability to really tell over 300 years of history in just 2 hours in a beautiful and condensed way was absolutely perfect! She kept you wanting more and made everyone feel like a friend! Bulldog Tours is the way to go if you are visiting Charleston! All of their guides are SPOT ON!
June was our guide and she had an extensive background in history. I had taken other tours and didn’t learn as much as I did from June. The tour is a great overview of Charleston’s history from the Revolutionary War up to the War Between the States (Civil War). The walking tour covers the original Charles Town area.
This tour, led by Lisa, was so chock-full of information, and so very entertaining at the same time! A leisurely pace, lots of beautiful architecture to see, and a very engaging, funny, and knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of Charleston, loves pretty things, or just wants to have a stroll through town to get oriented!
Historic Charleston Walking Tour: Rainbow Row, Churches, and More Lisa served as the storyteller on the Historic Charleston Walking Tour: Rainbow Row, Churches, and More. This daytime, non-food history tour provided access to historic churches and neighborhoods, offering background information on Charleston’s history from pre-revolutionary times to the present. Lisa's presentation included various accounts related to local history. Bulldog tours offer this experience for those visiting Charleston, SC. Throughout the tour, Lisa guided guests through iconic sites such as the colorful facades of Rainbow Row, the steepled skyline of historic churches, and cobblestone lanes lined with antebellum homes. Her engaging narrative style wove together stories of Charleston's early settlers, the impact of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and tales of resilience during natural disasters. Participants learned about architectural styles, cultural influences, and local legends that shaped the city's unique character. The tour allowed attendees to ask questions and interact with Lisa, making it a lively and educational exploration of Charleston's storied past.
