We had a very organized day-long learning trip through the intercostal waterway to Savannah. We had booked the trip through Viator, a platform we’ve consistently used for both national and international travel. We’ve been thoroughly satisfied with Viator’s services and haven’t encountered any issues since our first experience.
We had a great time! The weather was a little chilly in the morning but the return trip was just right.
Timely departure and return. No problem there. Seating comfortable. No problem there. Boarding process smooth. No problem there. The only problem with an otherwise enjoyable trip was that the PA system is useless. We could not understand any of the guide's narration whatsoever. I recommend headphones, a hand-held narrator, or an improved PA system. Note: Other reviews that I read mentioned the same issue, but I am glad that we went anyway.
Very relaxing & being on the water has a calming effect. Scenery nice as well. Very enjoyable cruise to Savannah & back. Also met and visited with some fine people. 😄👍
This was a great excursion for us. We haven't been to this part of the country, so this gave us a real sense of the southeaster coast, the intracoastal waterway and the history of this part of America. An hour and 45 minutes on a boat one-way is about enough for me, but that's a a personal thing. Having three hours in old town Savannah was just enough time to do a short tour, get some lunch and visit a couple shops. We walked around and felt pretty safe while doing it. The hour and 45 minute cruise back was perfect in length and "chilling" time. It made for a nice day trip.
A great way to travel to Savannah from Hilton head! We saw great views of nature and dolphins during our ride!
Great experience! Water and weather was perfect! Captain was a woman and she was amazing! Very informative about the area! Boat was loud but I didn’t expect anything else! Crew was great!
Absolutely well worth the price. The crew were very friendly and attentive. Beautiful scenery the entire trip and a great way to spend the day on a cruise to Savannah as well as 4 hours of walking around the city. They try to sell trolley tours which is recommended but at the same time we chose to walk and see for ourselves rather than riding the shuttle and get off places and get back on.
Lovely little trip to visit Savannah from Hilton Head. On time and better than driving. The day was warm and we were able to relax while learning some historical details along the way. Easy drop off and pick up. They offered light refreshments. We ate in Savannah.
Trip was timely and plenty of time for lunch and to shop and walk around before heading back to Sea Pines. Lunch at the pink house was wonderful too.
The whole trip was great. However, I was surprised that there was no mention of life jackets or even where they could be found on the boat.
We took the boat to Savannah and back. Best way to day trip Savannah. Sit up top. Breeze keeps you cool and you can hear speaker describe things along the way. Drink prices little on high end, but not like you are riding and tailgating. Takes around 90 minutes each way. Get about 4 hrs in town then board again. Took 1 star off because speakers on main deck do not work. Missed emergency instructions and guide comments.
This was such a fun trip. The ride to Savannah was amazing and we enjoyed the trolley tour. I would definitely do this again.
Captain Renee and her crew were fabulous, the ride to Savannah and back was smooth and informative. We got to see bottlenose dolphins and a couple of bald eagles!!!
Highly recommend this day trip! It’s a quiet boat trip along the Intercostal, saw dolphins and eagles. Crew was courteous and friendly. The speakers on the boat didn’t work so we couldn’t hear the guide aspect of the tour. Otherwise this was a great way to get to Savannah and enjoy a few hours in that beautiful historic city!
There should be no music on the upper deck only commentary. Cannot have a peaceful time without personally chosen music. Otherwise great trip.
The trip to Savannah was fine except the volume of the microphone for the first level was so low that with people talking it was impossible to understand what was being said. The trip back was horrible! The air conditioner was not cooling the cabin and people running in and out to the deck basically made it impossible to keep what little cool air there was in the cabin. My husband who is 85 was dripping sweat to the point his tee shirt was wet. It was a big letdown from our trip in May. In not so hot weather it was enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise to Savannah!! Enjoyed it so much that I’ll book again on my next visit. Saw dolphins, beautiful natural landscapes along the way, and the crew was phenomenal, especially Sam and Madison. They made you feel welcomed, like they were genuinely happy that you were on board. Plus, Sam introduced me to Cadillac Margaritas, which was a bonus!! The captain’s narration along the way was informative, and at times humorous, particularly when he told us about the 3pm departure time, “with or without you!” Have to appreciate the humor in that. We thoroughly enjoyed, were impressed with the hospitality and skill of the crew and look forward to booking future cruises with them.
It was hot outside, wasn’t that much better inside. They boarded/departed on time. Being a book or cards to pass the time.
The boat and crew were very good. Very friendly and helpful. It was hard to hear the captain explaining what we were seeing so we missed a lot of that. Would recommend to our friends. Good
All in all a good day out. The weather was on our side until we reached the dock on our return. I do wish we had more time to spend in Savannah
Everthing about our excursion was fabulous. From booking, ease of getting tickets and the while staff on The Spirit if Harbour Town
Very nice trip to savannah, nice crew.Beautiful views. Only complaint, trolly tour not well handled after we landed
Nice smooth boat ride to Savannah and back to Harbortown. Weather was hot, but it's July. Great crew on the boat. Informative and helpful.
Very enjoyable trip over to Savanna. Reasonable prices for beverages and snacks on the boat. Nice scenery and crew was friendly. Trip back the engine was extremely loud. Left on time.
Great trip...just hot! Good times...thank you🥵💕 staff was nice and friendly...dolphin sightings both ways! Savannah is a great day trip
Excellent day trip. You don’t have as much time as you think so I would recommend a quick lunch option. There was a pizza slice place in the city market that was very popular but we did not eat there
It was very hot sitting next to someone on the trolley. I recommend not going when the temp is in the 90s. Other than temp it was a great experience!
We took several boat rides this trip around Hilton Head/Daufuski/Savannah and this was one of them. This was an inside boatride for the most part and the A/C was not working up to capacity and it was a very hot ride to Savannah and a hot ride back. (June trip) As long as you are ok with this, you'll love this excursion. We had time to eat in Savannah and have a pretty extensive shopping trip. If we did this again, we would add the trolly tour.
The crew was wonderful and very informative. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to spend a few hours in Savannah GA while vacationing Hilton Head.
This was a nice way to get to Savannah, but we were disappointed in the boat. The air conditioning barely worked, the toilet in the bathroom was stopped up and smelled horrible, and the noise and vibration of the engine was so intense you could barely hear the person talking next to you. We had planned on a special sunset dinner cruise later in the week on the same boat, but canceled that reservation after this experience!
Excellent experience. We had a storm hit on the way back and I couldn't be more impressed at the way the captain handled the situation. She was wonderful and they are very lucky to have her.
The all female crew was amazing. The Captain was very informative while navigating and announcing things we should see while underway. The dock in Savannah was partial blocked but the girls handled the situation well and got us tied up safely. The return trip was met with a heavy thunderstorm as we docked but once again the Captain and crew handled the extreme weather like pros. The family really enjoyed the choice of air conditioned lower deck of fresh air up top. Refreshments and snacks were also an added bonus. All in all it was a relaxing boat ride with plenty of time to stroll around Savannah. Highly recommend.
Nice, loved the walk out to the beach padding so easy to walk on the sand. Workers were friendly . It was a great week
Perfect, relaxing day trip to Savannah! The crew were very helpful and friendly. If you want a seat on the upper deck be sure to arrive early.
A fun way to not get back in the car and drive. I recommend skipping the trolley tour if you are able to walk around easily. We used the trolley once to get to a Forsyth park and we walked the rest of the way. Look up the trolley maps and stops see what you want to get to before hand :) This tour allowed my family a chance to see enough of Savannah to decide if we would would like to travel to that area in the future.
This was a Great trip!!!! We enjoyed
Happy hour on the way back very relaxing boat ride very nice shops good places to eat trolley ride is the way to go
This was a relaxing way to travel to Savannah. We enjoyed seeing the scenery especially the dolphins. It was great getting to walk around the riverwalk and see the beautiful buildings and gardens as well as taste some of the local food.
Crew was extremely nice. The boat ride ride was enjoyable..along the way the captain of the ship did point out many things of interest along the way.
We had an awesome time on the Vagabond Ferry to Savannah! The crew was helpful and friendly during our ride to Savannah and our ride back to HHI! The four hours in Savannah were just enough time to hit up a few of the hot spots! Shout out to Carter (intern) for being awesome on his fifth day! He worked like a pro! We've done several Vagabond Cruises and will definitely book with them when we return to HHI!
Everything about the trip was great from start to finish, the boat was clean, the crew was fantastic, and the weather could not have been nicer. I would recommend this trip to couples as well as families.
We really enjoyed this trip! The captain Lauren did an excellent job pointing out wildlife, landmarks, etc. as we cruised along. Allison and Lucy did a fine job as crew mates.
It was a beautiful week in the sun with great food wonderful memories of Savana and the beach with the sun rising and setting over the water beyond the water
Don’t waste your time and money on the boat ride. For the cost, there was not any narrative and what little the captain did have to say could not hear. On the return trip we were stuck inside air conditioning was poor very very uncomfortable. The noise from the motor was so loud you could not even hear each other talking. We did purchase the photo which was a plus.
Great trip! Ease of pick up at HH and Savannah. Drinks for purchase Only problem we had was that we could not hear the narrator at all
It is not a 4 hour stay in Savannah. Left Harbour Town at 9am. Arrived 11:06am. Trolley didn't leave until 11:30am. They said be back at ferry at 2:30. Three hours in Savannah. Crew was amazing. Comfortable enough. Bathrooms good. Just disappointed we spent more time traveling as being in Savannah. 4 hours of traveling, (9-11:06) (3 to 5) only 3 hours there. Should be advertised as such.
It was great from beginning to end. The crew and captain were very professional and informative. It’s a must do when visiting Hilton Head Island
Was a nice trip. We had good weather. Staff was nice. Price was reasonable. The only issue we had was a hard time hearing the history narration & instructions at the back of the boat.
