Hilton Head Shrimp Trawling Boat Cruise

Overall experience was excellent. The Captain and Mates were very personable and shared alot of information about the shrimping industry as well as many eco facts. When the net was hauled in, each species was explained thoroughly. Very educational with a splash of humor.

Wonderful afternoon on Calibogue Sound! Mates Ella and Kelly were very knowledgeable and entertaining! We learned a lot. Shrimping is hard work. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion.

You can’t hear anything the person explaining everything says unless you’re in the 2 rows of seats in front of her. She needs a microphone, as the boat itself is loud. I personally was unable to see what was caught in the net because several big/tall men gathered right in front of the table and I couldn’t see around them … or hear again. Unless you just want a nice boat ride, don’t waste your time or money.

Went on the boat with my 3 grand kids and son in law had a great time and took some shrimp back to the house and cooked it up Great experience, great crew Family love it

We had a wonderful time on the shrimp trawler excursion! It was both educational and relaxing, giving us a unique opportunity to learn about shrimping, the local marine life, and the process of bringing in a catch. Capt Ian, Kelly and Bradley made the experience interesting & enjoyable, and we appreciated getting to see something new together. It was a perfect combination of learning, sightseeing, and spending quality time together. We would definitely recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a fun and memorable experience!

We had a wonderful experience on the Tammy Jane. The crew was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable. It was great learning about the shrimping industry. One of the most fascinating things was all of the other marine life caught in the nets. Lots of dolphins, hands on experiences (if you were interested) as well as we got to take home some of the shrimp that were caught. Delicious. There were guests of all different ages on the boat and all seemed to enjoy the experience.

This tour was outstanding!! We learned a lot about shrimp and had a beautiful boat ride. The staff was great and we got to take home three pounds of shrimp!

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Very interesting and informative. The two crew members shared numerous stories and were quite amusing at times!

The shrimping excursion on the Tammy Jane was a great experience. We learned a lot about the area as well as many cool facts about local shrimping! Captain Renee and the crew were wonderful. We caught a lot of shrimp and fish and got to see many sharks and dolphins. We highly recommend this adventure!!!

We are so glad we booked this shrimp tour. Our four kids enjoyed the whole trip. Once they dumped all of the net on the table the kids would not leave the table looking at all the marine life!

This was such a fun and educational adventure! We did the 9:00 am session and we had a small group. It allowed for a lot of fun conversation and time with the crew to learn about shrimp. We saw dolphins, sharks, birds, shrimp, jellyfish, flounder, and other sea creatures. Mike, Sam, and Jude knew everything by name! We were fortunate to bring home some of the shrimp we caught. The crew gave us ideas on how to cook it, which was great! Side note, I don't eat shrimp (nor clean them, pop the heads off, or even touch them) and I still give this trip 5 stars.

This was the coolest experience yet on Hilton head island! The crew was awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was hands on for all who wanted! We saw dolphins, a shark, jelly fish, squid, and of course shrimp! Even got to take home shrimp! 10/10 recommend.

The crew is very friendly and accommodating. They have a lot of knowledge of the ocean and all that dwell in it. They answered all questions we asked them. They packed the fresh shrimps in an ice bag for us to take home. They were so delicious! We would definitely do it again.

Great crew! Enjoyed trip. A bit overbooked though Seems shrimp are better chances of being caught early in morning 9 am trip.

My family of 4 had a nice time on the shrimp trawling boat. Plenty of space to sit but not around the table where the catch was laid out. One large family (mostly adults) took over the space and was oblivious to those around them who also wanted to see and hold the catch. The crew should look out for this and clear space on all sides of the table. The crew was very friendly but it was hard to hear the informational portion on the ride out because the only microphone was for the captain behind the wheel. We only caught a bag full and the rest were fish. But it was a beautiful day and we got to see dolphins.

The trip was great! Easy boat with a great crew! Ian's background made the expedition even better when going through our surprise catch!

All we can say is- Sam made the day! He chatted with my son and I on and off throughout the entire boat ride- sharing information about shrimping, Hilton Head, fishing, and even talking about the internship programs available on the island. He was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and showed professional, yet relaxed, leadership as he guided the intern and other deck-hand on how to successfully prepare for an handle the shrimp trawling. He went above an beyond with helping our son take advantage of fishing on the island- hooking us up with some bait from our shrimp voyage and taking time after his shift to help us on the dock. We thoroughly enjoyed our shrimp trawling adventure- including the delicious shrimp we were able to take home and eat afterwards and the shark show we saw off the side of the boat. Definitely 5 stars! Thank you, Sam and crew!

Friendly atmosphere everyone was very friendly and laidback. I was excited to see all those Seagulls flying around the boat never experience that before.

Two adults traveling. Awesome Captain and crew. Fun and informational. We were on the first outing of the day and had a pod of dolphins with us almost the whole trip loved learning about the sound , shrimping and enjoyed our catch. Thanks for an incredible morning on the water.

This was such a great unique experience for our family! They pulled up so much sea life! We saw sharks and dolphins and seagulls up close following us. We had Jude and 2 wonderful captains on board to guide us. They were informative and fun. We were allowed to take shrimp home, but we were staying at a resort hotel so had to pass. Best 2 hours spent in HH!

Super fun time catching shrimp aboard the Tammy Jane with Captain John, First Mate Ashley and Deckhand Maddie!! Learned a lot and got some hands on time with the catch! Highly recommend this trip!!

The boards didn’t separate when sinking to the bottom. Staff mentioned to the captain that the net looked tangled. That would have been a good time to bring the net back up and address the issue. The net wasn’t open when trolling for a hour resulted in catching only a handful of shrimp and ZERO bycatch.

Everyone had a great time. The crew was friendly and very informative. It was a plus that our tour caught about 30 lbs of shrimp.

When the catch came in, the crew took the time to talk about the other sea creatures that were also in the haul before putting them back to sea. There were some young kids on the cruise and the crew was so good with them.

Good boat ride. Need to have a better communication system for the person talking about the boat, area and the types of sea life that were captured in the net.

Informational, fun, local waters tour. Perfect for a family activity. We felt safe and comfortable on the waters outside of Harbourtown. Overcast skies turned sunny with a chill in the air. A really nice activity for our family.

A fun excursion for the family on actual working shrimp trawler. Crew were very friendly and informative. Kids got extra attention and were able to sort through many shells and shark teeth crew had. The actual catch was small but included shrimp, flounder, crab and even a puffer fish. Added bonus was taking shrimp home - not often you can claim your own boat to table experience!

Great time with Captain Windows, Jude and Lauren. This was the shrimp trawling tour, which was awesome, but it also turned into the best dolphin cruise I have ever been on. The dolphins and waterfowl are attracted to the boat due to the possibility of an easy meal. Very knowledgeable crew, we went home with lots of shrimp and had a great experience. if you are looking for something different and want to be out on a boat, don't miss this tour.

We really enjoyed this trip. Its a fun boat ride and you learn a bit about the shrimping industry. The captain is personable and very knowledgeable. Dolphins and seagulls followed our boat. Our haul included shrimp, squid, and fish. Not enough to take any home but we enjoyed feeding the gulls. We would do it again to see what we can catch next!

Average experience. Couldn’t really see where they brought up the shrimp etc. Small area for everyone to gather around to see the shrimp. Nobody got to take home the shrimp. Didn’t catch many but 🤷🏼‍♀️. We did see lots of dolphins.

October- could be a little chilly! Bring a windbreaker or light jacket! Overall- a fun experience- wait for the end with amazing seagulls!!!a great part of the trip!
