Very informative. We had a few issues getting started with the app and the narration, but we weee able to get it working.

It's a great way to learn about the local history. Cool that you can go at your own pace, pause it, or even choose to dive in for further info if you want. It's like walking around with your own personal tour guide. The app froze up on me a couple times, but might have been operator error!
The information was very good and helpful. We preferred this method over an in person guide so that we could go at our own pace. I would recommend it. However, a couple of things were bothersome. My husband’s phone stopped and restarted the tour several times. Also, the narrator gave preparatory information about the next attraction while we were on our way there. We would have preferred to have that information when we arrived, not on our way, because we were trying to find our way and listen to his attraction information at the same time.
The application wouldn’t down load after o set up an account and prepaid
This self guided tour was very interesting and very informative. It was a little difficult starting the self guided part with the app but once I got it it was easy from there, and you can pause the recording when needed. You can go at your own pace or take a break
It was fine and informative until the app drained our phone batteries. I would suggest bringing a portable battery charger or paying a little bit extra for a in-person tour guide.
We enjoyed doing this walking tour at our own pace. Really great info given. Narrator is knowledgeable of the area and had lots of interesting facts.
The self guided tour was very good! In an hour of easy walking, I saw a lot! The only thing I would change is the starting point of the tour. The cemetery gates were somewhat difficult to find.
This tour was wonderful! I loved that it was self paced so we could go as fast or as slow as we wanted! It was such an amazing deal! It is so worth it! There was so much detail throughout the tour and we learned so much. Next time we come to Charleston we will definitely be buying some of the other tours offered from WalknTours! The app makes it easy to navigate and give you directions to each of the next destinations!
We enjoyed the autonomy of walking through Charleston on our own. GPS worked great. If you’re going with a friend, we recommend one app download and share one set of headphones, so you’re in the same place. Make sure your phone is fully charged before starting. The reason I can’t give 5 stars is because of AI reading mistakes. Instead of street, it read St. as saint. It also mispronounced East Bay Street as Easy Bay over and over again. Could use some editing.
This self guided tour was a fantastic experience for my girlfriend and I. This is our first time in Charleston and we loved the history explained throughout the guide. Definitely would recommend to fellow history enthusiasts! I would recommend bringing waters to stay hydrated.
Loved the tour and mix of history and architecture. Loved that we could go at our own pace and pause and restart as we wanted. Just the right amount of walking and coverage of Charleston. Also suggestions for delving deeper into spots along the tour. Would highly recommend
This was a great alternative to scheduling a tour. I was unsure of when I would be available but was interested in touring Charlotte. This was very informative and allowed me to visit the landmarks and museums at a leisurely pace. I highly recommend it.
Enjoyed a fun and informative guided walking tour of historic Charleston, experiencing hidden alleys and architectural gems - thanks Greg - that was $10 well spent!
Difficult to get app to work… had to shut down and restart multiple times. Once we got started, the app said it would wait until you reached the next point of interest, but it did not and we had to manually pause it. The descriptions of each site were too brief.
Tour at your own pace is great but app is challenging as screen goes black often and have to re login to phone.
Informative guide with clear instructions to next point
We thought the information was great. We had a hard time working the app at first but that was probably user error. We couldn't figure out how to progress the audio without starting over. Once we understood the app better we really enjoyed it. We think a short tutorial before beginning your first tour would be helpful, something that shows all of the icons and how to properly work it. We were halfway through before even noticing the GPS arrow for the next stop. We kept going out and trying to locate on the map.
It is a lot of walking but very informative. Took us a minute to find the starting point. Lots of little out of the norm places
You’re free to travel at your own pace and replay a section if needed.
The GPS guidance was really good and easy to follow. The narrative provided in the audio was very good as well. It gave my wife and I and very good overview of the historic area. Would recommend to anyone.
It was just okay. For the price I’m not disappointed but there were many bits that could have been left out - not as interesting. The app works well and the GPS tracking/directions is a cool feature.
A great way to learn more about the history of Charleston and to discover some of the hidden backstreets which the larger tours would not give you. Great
This is an easy way to learn more about Charleston’s history and see it at your own pace. It was a nice walk and fun to learn.
It was great to be able to walk the tour route at our own pace and dive deeper into some of the areas along the way.
Once you get adjusted to the map not auto rotating like a Google map, it goes well. Just pay attention, as he says “facing the gate, turn left” which I only heard at gate, turn left. It was great moving at our own pace, pausing and stopping where we wanted.
Overall, this was a good walking tour to introduce us to downtown historic Charleston. The app was easy to download, register an account and easy to navigate. The narration was excellent. It was nice to have the option to dig deeper into certain sites if we chose. It was also nice to have the walking arrow to access to help keep us on track. We did experience a few glitches with the app where the narration was not in sync with our location or stopped altogether. Despite that, we really did enjoy our tour.
It’s fun, self paced. As with many, it took us a few stops to get used to the navigation.. my suggestion is to TRUST the compass!! It was fun and we made our tour last about 2 hours because we stopped and took in several of the sights. Especially along the waterway.
Had such a wonderful time strolling the streets of Charleston! That information was great and well paced. Loved the option to stop the tour so I could explore more. Would definitely recommend. Just know - this will drain your battery so have a back up!
We didn't know that this was subcontracted to another tour operator...requiring another app download. It took nearly 30 minutes and a call to the tour operator (who was helpful) to get the app to work. The app provided good information but was balky to operate.
Great info in this walking tour. Took us a minute to figure out how to operate it. More techy folks may get it faster! Wish we had more time to linger at the different locations where we had opportunity to click your Dig Deeper button. We would recommend for sure!
Nice to go at your own pace. Was able to pause and look around on own and get back to tour after. Having a live guide is definitely more interactive but this is a good option when timing doesn’t work for other tours.
Enjoyed taking it at our own pace. Narration was excellent. Loved the history. I highly recommend this tour.
It's best to do this tour in the early morning hours before the rest of the city wakes up. We started the tour at 9:00 and it was perfect. Had we waited until the afternoon, it would've been too crowded to take the time to enjoy the sights and information.
App kept stopping. phone battery gets drained very quickly. Our phones died before the end even though it was fully charged
Definitely worth every penny. The app was easy to download and use and was extremely user friendly. Excellent response time including within one minute while on the tour with an issue caused by me! The information given, knowledge given, speed of delivery and map were tremendously informative and helpful. I will use this again in every city I visit! Thanks for an outstanding product for those who want to explore.
It was hard to navigate the tour within the app. We got lost multiple times and had to restart. But once we got the hang of it, it was much smoother. The music was a nice touch and we learned a LOT. I would do another tour like this in the future now that I know how to use it better.
Once I figured out the app (around stop #3), it was an easy to use program. It was really nice to go at my own speed.
This self guided walking tour was easy to use and understand. It gave great insight into the location we were walking in and a lot of the history involved in the city. He was very good would highly recommend!
Enjoyed being able to go at my own pace. Narration and information was excellent and easy to follow.
The beginning was confusing but after figuring out the directions for the first couple of stops the rest of the tour went smoothly
Unfortunately it started raining cats and dogs. Between that and cars, we couldn’t hear. The gate to the graveyard was padlocked, which was disappointing and then we heard the promotion of a restaurant and made it to two more stops but could not hear so gave up. Darn.
The tour was very informative. Greg had a lot of interesting side notes at each location. The maps and photos made everything very easy to follow. It was flexible, so we were able to explore at our own pace.
Carin did a great job of telling stories around the history of Charleston and how spirits still walk the city. Great finale at the cemetery!
I loved the information that was given with each stop. The knowledge and history was very informative and interesting.
Loved being able to go at my own pace. It was informative and educational. It was a great experience!
I recently experienced the self-guided tour of downtown historic Charleston through the Walk Tour app, and it was absolutely phenomenal! From start to finish, this tour was a perfect blend of convenience, rich history, and immersive storytelling that brought the charm of Charleston to life. I truly loved being able to do the tour at my own pace without a whole group of people around me. The app is incredibly user-friendly, with clear navigation that made it easy to follow the route at my own pace. I loved the flexibility to pause, explore, or linger at sites like the iconic Battery, Rainbow Row, and the historic French Quarter without feeling rushed. Especially loved that I could listen on my headphones without disturbing others around me. I highly recommend this Walk Tour app for anyone visiting Charleston, whether you’re a history buff or just want a leisurely stroll through one of America’s most picturesque cities. It’s an affordable, engaging, and unforgettable way to discover the heart of historic downtown. Five stars! 🌟
Great history of Charleston. Even better that it was a leisurely, self-guided tour where I could stop for lunch and then continue on. Also, appreciated the feature where I could go back and forth in the narration.
Bought a tour that was supposed to be 6/10 of a mile, lasting about an hour, and ended up being a two hour tour that was covering far more mileage than what I originally purchased.
Loved that I was able to pause through it as some stops were worth exploring a bit more. Good stops. Wish you had a Spanish version.
