We ended up being us two and the guide and it was enjoyable like a private tour. I could do a bunch of research and follow a map but this is better. Not wandering around unsure of what direction to go. I could have done two more hours with him. Definitely recommend.
Jon is very knowledgeable about the history of charleston.
Jonathan was dynamic and knowledgeable. I tend to ask lots of questions, which he was a great sport towards. We appreciated his passion for the anti-slavery and civil rights histories. The stories he shared were inspiring.
Such a wonderful experience!! We learned so much in only 2 hours and he kept it very entertaining! A big highlight to our trip- we will definitely recommend this to anyone who visits!
The walk with Jonathan was very informative and thoughtful in the way he presented it. He discussed different points of view and brought up the contributions of the men and women who played a role in Charleston’s history. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a more in depth understanding of the history.

First time in Charleston, so glad we took this guided tour! Jonathan was so kind, funny and informative. The time went by quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Best way to learn about the history and stories about the homes. Thank you Johnathan!
Jonathan was an excellent guide who presented the tour as a fascinating story woven through Charleston’s history. It was engaging, entertaining, and educational from start to finish. One member of our group is hard of hearing, so we especially appreciated how clearly and powerfully John speaks. Easily the best two hours of our short stay in Charleston. Highly recommended.
Jonathan was friendly, knowledgeable and he made the 2 hours interactive. We were the only people on his tour which made it even better to learn and listen.
We were lucky to choose Jwalk for our walking tour. Jonathan is knowledgeable and friendly and the two hours flew by. He hit all the stops on the itinerary. We learned quite a bit and it was better than if we walked around on our own and tried to research and read plaques.
The pace was perfect and very informative on history and lure. Jonathan was a delight.
Jonathan is a delight and has so much in depth knowlege of Charleston. The pace was perfect.
This was a great walking tour!! Our guide John was super informative and enthusiastic about all the locations and the history of the tour area. Truly enjoyed every moment of it.

We booked this tour on the recommendation of our concierge and were treated to more than 2 hours of insights, stories, and facts about Charleston. We would recommend Jonathan for his enthusiasm and ability to explain the intertwined history of this lovely city with the growth of America.
Great tour with Jonathan. He was prompt for the tour and did a great job explaining things and answering our questions. Well worth it.

Jonathan was a wonderful tour guide. His delivery of the story of this beautiful city was thoughtful and showed a real love of history. In fact, he did such a nice job, we booked his BadassBroads tour the next day. Jonathan's "Let's Take a Walk" is spot on.
Our tour with Jonathon was the highlight of our trip! Jonathan is so knowledgeable about Charleston and he had lots of stories to tell about historical events and historical figures. We saw lots of great spots and learned so much. Jonathan is friendly and funny! We had a great time and will def take one of his other tours during our next visit. Highly recommend!!
Great tour to understand the history of Charleston and see most of the key landmarks. We only had 4 on our tour so it was easy to hear the guide and ask questions. Jonathon was very knowledgeable and passionate about Charleston. Highly recommend.
This tour was well worth it! Jonathan combined a knowledge of Charleston’s history with a sense of humor and a genuine love of his city. It never got boring! The two hours we spent with him went by quickly and I was sorry when it came to an end. Tip: wear comfortable shoes and do take a bottle of water.
throughly enjoyed JWalk tour - it was far superior to our other walking / boat tours: guide was animated, knowledgeable, interactive and very interesting. Only thing I would add is to offer a military discount for Veterans.
Jonathan Green of JWalk Tours was fabulous. Very knowledgeable. Good amount of information but not too much. Friendly and interactive with all guests. Took us to interesting places. Highly recommend.
Jonathan is the tour guide you want when you want to learn about the history of Charleston. His deep knowledge and passion shines through, his tour is engaging, his sense of humor makes it very enjoyable . He shared nuances that you won’t notice when just walking the streets, highlighted some facts and context from a very complex history of Charleston he city. We definitely learned a lot and can’t recommend him enough. When I’m back in Charleston, I will take his other tours - specifically about women of Charleston. He is a local gem!
Took the Chicora Walking Tour with Jonathan with a group of friends on our first morning in Charleston — we made up four of a group of six on a Saturday morning in March. Jonathan is a really thoughtful and knowledgeable guide and his enthusiasm for his city and its stories were contagious. We enjoyed the tour and were glad to get a little bit of the content from his “Badass Broads” tour mixed in. Thanks Jonathan!
Jonathon is the most knowledgeable and passionate guide I've met. He really loves his history. His tour is easy to walk. We have visiting Charleston many times but never really knew what we were looking at or even how to begin to understand the history. This tour with Jonathon gave me an understanding of the people and culture, the architecture. How Charleston changed over the years was interesting. I can't tell you how great Jonathan's enthusiasm for Charleston's history is. Book this tour!
Jonathan is knowledgable, engaging , and entertaining. JWalk is the highlight of our stay in Charleston. I highly and unequivocally recommend him if you are visiting this charming city.,
Johnathan was incredible! His knowledge and information shared really gave us a true feel for Charleston's history. His love for Charleston was clearly on display. The ranking scale is only 1 to 5 - Johnathon is a 10!!!!!
The guide, Jonathan Green, was fabulous - very knowledgeable, passionate about his topic, full of interesting stories, details, anecdotes and facts. He knows the city and its people. He has a very strong clear voice so I had no trouble hearing him. Well researched and presented. A very enjoyable morning that I would strongly recommend.
Wonderful, knowledgeable and fun story-teller who loves his city. So much history in Charleston, incredible people and events. Thanks for sharing your stories, we really enjoyed the walk.
This is by far the best tour to be had. So in depth, knowledgeable, and sincere that you feel like you're getting a first hand account of both the well known and little known history of Charleston. And fun at the same time! Don't miss this!
I booked with Jwalk Tours based on the reviews. I read at least 40 and there is nothing but GREAT things to say about Jwalk, and now I know they were not wrong. You cannot delete bad reviews, so if there are none, this is a solid company. Johnathan is the owner and your tour guide, and he was easy on the ears and enjoyable to listen to. He draws you into his world as if you were living there when the cannon was going off. We went on 1/17/25 at 10 am. It was a cold morning, and we lucked out and had a private tour, which made the tour even more enjoyable. He let us all know he encourages us to ask questions, but he asks that we wait until we break, and now I know why. For almost every question we wanted to ask, the answers were already coming within 12 minutes. I tried to think of questions he had never received before, and they were all answered in due time. I laughed, the pace was perfect, and with so many stops to learn something new, there was no real need for a traditional break. You also meet up at a coffee shop beforehand, which is nice if you want to fuel up or have something warm in your hands when it is 40 degrees out. He is very knowledgeable, and we had an amazing time. We have already referred him to other guests from our hotel, Meeting Street Inn, which was also amazing. Until next time, thanks again, Darren, Daniella, Terry & John.
Jonathan was a great tour guide - great content, good humor, super knowledgeable. Definitely will be recommending! Was perfect for this history nerd
11/12/24. Nine people on the walking tour. Very informative, very personable, never rushed us. Actually got an extra 1/2 hour. Did three carriage tours before but would recommend this one over them. I would highly recommend this tour. Harry and Terry.
Jay was a fabulous tour guide, passionate about Charleston history, funny/punny and entertaining. We’d love to do the historical badass women’s tour. Sadly, our stay was not long enough. I’ve friends visiting next JUNE, was able to recommend by your business card
Jonathan gave an excellent tour. He provided a lot of insights into the city of Charleston. He was showing the highlights and was compassionate about the city. It was wonderful meeting Mildred the Gullah basket lady, seeing the location of the oldest theater in the United States, and learning about the history of the city good and bad. He made an excellent reservation for lunch as well the Blind Tiger.
Jonathan was great and this is the best tour to gain your knowledge of Charleston. Length was just right and amount of walking not strenuous
Jonathan is a knowledgeable and personable guide who gave us insights into the personal stories of some of historically prominent Charleston residents. He is passionate about Charleston and endeavors to provide nuanced and complete contexts for the events and people who built Charleston.
Jonathon did an amazing tour! We loved his insight and history of Charleston that he shared. And really appreciate the smaller tour size and interaction with had with Jonathon and others in the tour this morning.
If you are looking for a knowledgeable history walk in Charleston, then this is the walk for you! Not only does Jon have the knowledge but he has passion for Charleston. That passion comes across not only with the information but with his deliverance on that history. You will NOT be disappointed!!
Great tour today, Jonathon. Feel you gave us a great insight to Charleston and your delivery was funny and informative. Great day. Vinny and Sue
Excellent tour, extremely knowledgeable guide. We have learnt a lot about historic Charleston. All four of us enjoyed the tour vey much and would definitely recommend it to others.
Jonathan, owner and tour guide for JWalk Tours, is a wonderful guide! He’s personable, and knowledgeable, and he tells stories that are often missed on other tours. The two hour tour was like taking a walk with a friend. I highly recommend this experience.
We found JWalk tours to be absolutely the best in Charleston...so informative, interesting and enjoyable. We got an in-depth description of how Charleston came to be.... to its evolution today all the while addressing the important people who have contributed to its glorious and somewhat dark heritage. Do it first ...you will appreciate Charleston more during your stay. Thanks Johnathon!
