Page was an outstanding tour guide. Her historical knowledge was exceptional and we loved that she is from Charleston. She was so passionate about Charleston’s history and incorporated that with the food options. Excellent tour! Thank you Page.

Paige was wonderful and passionate about the history of the area and the food. The food was underwhelming. For a culinary tour I had higher expectations.
Page provided an interesting and entertaining walking culinary tour with excellent food items at 3 restaurants and accompanying history of Charleston centered on the unique cuisine of the Low Country. Highly recommend.
Our guide was awesome and our group private so the experience was lovely for our event. Wouldn’t have wanted any larger of a group.
Page was a great foodie guide who took us through a tour highlighting food that was important to the people of Charleston through history. Not only was Page full of interesting historical facts about the area, but did a great job explaining the history of the food we tasted…and everything was great!!! We do quite a few food tours and this one had its own flair.
This was a complete disappointment and definitely not worth $100 each. Page was our guide and, while knowledgeable, she overshared her personal passions with the group that we were not interested in. We were served one shrimp/grits, small vessel of she crab soup, hushpuppies and a dab of praline butter (first stop); two burnt tiny chicken tenders and golden rice (second stop); and, a small glob of cold mashed potatoes topped with fatty spare rib meat and a bag of $6 cookies (third stop). In addition, apparently one couple with dietary restrictions had spoken to Page in advance about alternate foods and there was a mix-up, so they were very unhappy and vocal about it which made it awkward for the other guests. I would not recommend this to anyone, especially people with dietary restrictions.
Excellent ‼️ Page was wonderfuland very interesting
Paige was exceptional- she was very friendly in sharing information regarding history of the food and culture of Charleston. It was not scripted- just flowed. In addition, the samples of food were delicious! Highly recommend
This food tour exceeded all expectations. Not only did we get to try some truly incredible food, but we also learned so much about the history of the area thanks to our fantastic guide. Their passion and depth of knowledge made the experience both insightful and delicious. Don't hesitate to book this!
They canceled on us with insuffuicient effort to contact us and extremely slow to respond to our inquiry on day of our reservation
Very informative and really fun! We had a great time! Paige knew so much about the history of the area and about the cultures that shaped the food in Charleston. Thanks paige! We had such a great inteoduction to Charleston!
Our guide, Page, was very informative providing a lot of information about the history of Charleston. The restaurants and food/drinks were great! She did a good job of keeping us on track while still giving us many interesting details. We loved it!
Overall, the food was great, and the group size was just right. Page was super sweet. I liked the first two restaurants she chose and the reasoning behind them. However, I have been on quite a few food tours and how it generally goes is you arrive at the restaurant, the guide gives a 5-20 minute relevant history spiel, and then you get about 20 minutes to talk to your party or the other groups on the tour. This was not like that. Page talked the ENTIRE time. The history was great and she is clearly knowledgeable, but I had to whisper to my husband and parents about whatever we were experiencing, and there was absolutely no time given to reflect. It felt much more like a college lecture with food than a tour. It made the experience significantly less enjoyable than it would have been. I also did not particularly like the last stop, "well-hung" winery, and it did not have the same historical backing the other two places did.
Guide was excellent, great historical facts about the food we had where it started and came from. Thought the portions where a little small for the price we paid. The first two stops where excellent the last one was just okay.
Our guide, a local to the area, was great! She really understands Charleston and its deep history. I loved how we ate at local, long established restaurants that serve real authentic foods that reflect its rich history and traditions . If you are looking for true deep dive into food history and local cuisine this is your tour. I will bring friends to this tour when we visit again.
Absolutely perfect little tour of Charleston. Page, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and made history so interesting. The food was literally to die for - I loved every bite, and plan to return to every restaurant she took us to the next time I visit. All of the staff at the restaurants were so gracious and welcoming - it was really beautiful honestly. This tour was a little slice of heaven and I’d recommend it to anyone.
We got a chance to sample many different delicious foods on this tour. Page was great and very informative and knowledgeable. This is not only a food tour, but more a history and culture tour through food, which we loved. She gave us a very good understanding of the roots of Charleston, its people and cultural melting point. We left with a better understanding of the troubles the city went through and what lays ahead of it. Food is a reflection of history and we had the opportunity and pleasure to eat and learn.
Tour was fun and extremely informational about the history of Charleston and the Low Country. Food was amazing! Paige was a great tour guide.
A very unique history lesson paired with delicious food choices. The guide was so informed and so passionate about the subject matter. I would highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a unique and honest experience in Charleston.
Tour guide Page was knowledgeable and very good. Gave great overview of history of food and area. Restaurants great.
I consider this to be one of the best tours of Charleston that I have ever experienced. Page is one of the best and guides you through Charleston’s French Quarter and several restaurants. Page knows her city and has created a wonderful food experience. I would say this is a Must Do Tour, if you are in Charleston.
This was a fantastic tour. We couldn’t have had a better tour and guide. Page was authentic, very knowledgeable and she did a perfect job organizing the food tour.
Very informative history to go with great selections of tasty local foods. You will want to book this tour first day of your visit so to utilize the knowledge gained to plan the rest of your trip. Page is a delightful guide with a pleasant friendly personality.
Page was fabulous! We had a group of 6 friends traveling together, and needed to make some special accommodations which Page was able to seamlessly incorporate. She provided a wonderful tour and we learned a lot, along with enjoying great food. Highly recommend doing this tour on your first day in Charleston to get your bearings and try out some delicious local options.
Page was an excellent guide. She was fun to spend the evening with and a wealth of information which she so skillfully conveyed. We learned so much about the Gullah culture and Charleston’s history. The food served was excellent. Everyone in the group had something they liked. I highly recommend this be your first activity when visiting town.
Paige was very informative and knew her Charleston history. We stopped at three great local restaurants. While the food selections were delicious, it would have been nice if we had the opportunity to taste an oyster at the O-Bar and something more authentic to the TBonz Gill and Grill. The last stop really wasn’t authentic to Charleston, but since it was a wine bar, a taste of wine would have added to the experience. Thank you for the cookie desserts.
We did the tour as a family of 4 with a 14 and 12 year old. The 12 year old got a little bored but the rest of us enjoyed listening to Page tell us about the history of Charleston. We thought the restaurants and food selections were very good. Not too much walking, which was good because the weather wasn't great in the beginning of the tour (it cleared up towards the end). Page talks throughout the whole tour, but it was also nice to meet the other family on the tour. My only suggestion might be to add one more restaurant and break-up the history story into smaller 'chapters' with the natural break at the restaurant. I think that might have made it more digestible for my 12 year old too. All that said, I would recommend the tour!
Page was very informative about the local culture and food. I truly enjoyed the 3 restaurants that we walked to. It was super hot today so all of the restaurants were in close proximity. Page has a lot of passion about this city and the culture.
Beat the heat is truly the best part of the tour. It was nice to be able to sit down inside a restaurant. The items were varied and truly represented some Charleston staples. While a completely family friendly activity, our tour guide seemed very hesitant to have children on the tour. The fellow guests and restaurants we visited were very friendly and accommodating. We have taken our kids to many places, tours, and even fine dining restaurants and are very conscientious of others around us. Overall it did not diminish from the tour, but beware of the tour guide you might get and just know that in advance. As far as value for experience, it is moderate. The price does not include the most extensive options for food tasting out there, but the overall opportunity for a seat in an air conditioned restaurant as well as the historical storytelling make up for it. Minimal walking distance between restaurants is involved, which is also nice for those with mobility issues.
The host answered the questions I had about Charleston…Who started it? Why? What were the political, religious, social, and economic influences? Why the pineapples, French Quarter, and the “Holy City? Bonus points for explaining why it’s called Folly Beach. If you love history and want to know the unvarnished truth, this tour is for you. I see other reviewers took issue over certain subjects, however I felt the host was passionate about sharing the inside scoop of how things really happened. I also appreciated being able to sit in air conditioned places to sample history thru cuisine while learning. Highly recommend!
The guide was excellent. One of the stops took a lot of extra time - not the guide's fault. If had not been for that, I would have given it a 5.
Last restaurant took a long time to be served. Dessert wasn’t what was expected.
This was the best food tour we could've imagined. Page is an outstanding guide with so much knowledge and passion for her town. Each food tasting was relevant to the history and culture of Charleston, and Page gave us great information as we sampled each dish. I was especially grateful to hear all about the Gullah Geechee history and deep influence on the region's cuisine and culture. It was also nice that each spot included a sit-down sampling in an air conditioned restaurant rather than the street food walking tours we are used to. You'll be thankful for that in the Charleston humidity! If you love history and you love food, this is the tour for you.
Paige was fabulous and so informative with historical references. We enjoyed the food and appreciated doing this tour at the beginning of our trip. It helped us to make more food and history connections throughout our stay in Charleston.
Very nice food tour. Quality establishments. Good content and conversations. You won't be disappointed!
Nice activity great way to beat the heat and try some of Charleston’s great dishes. Fun way to spend the morning.
Page was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston! Food was great. I would do this tour again.
This was a tour of the origins regarding the unique dishes created in Charleston. Paige was very informative and passionate regarding the food and people behind the culinary flavors. Food was very good!
Page was a great host - So knowledgeable about the food and history of the area. She was very considerate of all the members of the group and wanted to make sure everyone had a great time. The restaurants we visited did not disappoint!
Paige was informative, warm and friendly. We enjoy her tour very much.
Paige was great and the history was abundant and interesting
Page was wonderful. Her knowledge about all of the cultural influences on the food scene in Charleston was insightful. Appreciate her stories of spices and how they are the base for low country cooking recipes made our tasting experience extra special!
What a great way to learn some history of Charleston and how the food was apart of that history. Paige is awesome enthusiastic and passionate about Charleston.
We really enjoyed this tour! Page did a great job connecting the history of Charleston with the foods we were trying. It was so informative and interesting to learn why the food represented Charleston and how that representation has changed over the years. Well worth the time!
This tour was very entertaining and you will not leave hungry. We got to taste some signature Charleston/South Carolina dishes and also got to learn a lot of history about the food as well as Charleston while eating our way through downtown. I highly recommend coming hungry.
The restaurants were okay, could have picked some better choices.
Our tour guide Paige (I think) was exceptional. Her knowledge of the history of Charleston was very comprehensive and interesting. The food was also a very good representation of the flavors of Charleston. We thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and would recommend it.
This is exactly what I needed to put the history of Charleston in perspective. Page was amazing. She is really versed on everything about the city and its story. The stops were great . Such delicious tastes of so many of the classic dishes. We are so glad we made this choice.
