Charleston's Pleasing Terrors Night-time Walking Ghost Tour

Mike ran an interesting tour. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and clearly spent a lot of time doing extra research on all items presented to him.

Great storytelling with history. I loved the guide always looked for things in newspapers to learn reall hidden stories of the past. He has a passion for this and it shows. Great tour. 10/10 would do another with him.

This tour was incredible! I really enjoyed learning about the history and legends surrounding some of the buildings we had passed earlier. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and a wonderful storyteller! I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a cool activity on your trip.

The tour guide was a very good storyteller, and his voice was perfect for the job. He seemed very passionate about his work and weenjoyed it except for the pouring pelting rain during the tour. We are not from Charleston and did not realize we should have left the tourearlier in order to avoid the severe flooding in the area. We had much difficulty getting back to our hotel due to the several flooded streets.

5 stars if you want History 101 rather than Ghost or Terrors which is in the title. It is understandable that historical and family friendly information is given when discussing the buildings that have been reported to be haunted. However, when the information is presented as a self walking tour and less terror was disappointing. The guide stated he had been doing the tour 30 years and it showed. He did not engage with us and seemed irritated when anyone asked questions. I would suggest 60 min tour and 30 min q & a if he prefers a lecture type setting. There were so many possibilities where this tour could go and even the adolescents were disappointed and bored.

Mike was engaging and knowledgeable. We learned a ton about the haunted history of the city. Loved it, highly recommend!

I did the Pleasing Terrors Night Tour while visiting Charleston as a solo traveler, and I’m so glad I booked it! I felt completely comfortable joining the tour on my own, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my time in Charleston. Our guide, Mike Brown, is an amazing historian! He is passionate about his craft, the area, and knows his stuff. I enjoyed the laid back pace and experience of the “spooky” spots. The storytelling made the history come alive without feeling overly theatrical or cheesy. I highly recommend this tour if you’re in Charleston.

So I am a Charleston local that wanted to give his kids a little bit of Charleston history that you won't find in textbooks. My ground was a fantastic tour guide and really gave us an insight into the spooky history of Charleston, even more then I knew.

Lots of unknown interesting information given about the city of Charleston, also had the hair on my arms stand " twice" !!

The tour was well done and gives unique and informative info on haunts and haunted places in downtown Charleston. The tour operator is very experienced and has been doing ghost tours for nearly 30 years!

Mike was super knowledgeable about Charleston history and ghost stories. He also came prepared with water, bug spray and rain ponchos when it started storming. The thunderstorm made for a great background with the thunder and lightening for his ghost stories!

Our guide was a great story teller. The stories were spooky but nothing the 10 year old in our group couldn't handle. Would recommend 10/10

This is an informative and fun ghost tour. Mike has done a lot of research about sightings in the area. He’s passionate about it and it shows. He has some amazing stories that keep your attention the entire tour. He’s a very polished guide and makes the tour fun. We really enjoyed it.

Fun tour! The meeting location was easy to find. Our guide was knowledgeable, welcomed questions, and told the stories in a fun and exciting way. Our group was small, only 4 people, and was the perfect length of time.

Mike Brown is an excellent storyteller. This is not a scary ghost tour, way more educational. The walk is not hard. Excellent for 18 and above as younger folks may want to move around more. If you like to learn history behind the ghost tales - he is your guy!

Mike is an excellent tour guide! Friendly, knowledgeable, prepared, experienced. He also really knows how to use his voice well to make himself heard and understood without shouting. He has done a ton of research, and really leans into primary sources. Great experience!
