It was a great experience and great to hear the history of Charleston. Winston, our horse was awesome. And Mike Hicks was a wonderful guide.

Itinerary
Our stable is where your tour experience will begin and end. After checking in you can say hi to our draft horses, watch an educational video, purchases a bottle of water, or use our restroom. As you board your carriage via our inclined ramp / easy loading platform, your certified tour guide will greet you.
After leaving our stable, your carriage will stop at the City gate near the Market, where a route is assigned by the City of Charleston. Our industry is governed by this system in order to disperse the carriage traffic more evenly throughout the city. Your tour will cover about 30 blocks and 300+ years of history. Though specific landmarks vary by route, all tours pass by sights that give Charleston its unique charm – custom wrought iron gates, well-manicured gardens, historic mansions with picturesque piazzas, and the many church steeples of the “Holy City.”

Very nice tour. Our horse Ricky parallel parks better than most humans and our guide Wendy was wonderful.
Wonderful experience, beautiful horse named Winston and learned a lot about the history of Charleston.
The whole experience was great. The guide, Emily, was very informative and personable. Our horse, Bob, also gets a two thumbs up. A must-do when you come to Charleston!
Justin and Roger were a great team. If Roger could talk Justin would be out of a job. Lol.
Great!! Guide was so informative and entertaining
It’s a wonderful way of seeing the historic downtown of Charleston. We would definitely do it again.
Emily was outstanding…knowledgeable, friendly, clever, and full of facts. Bob was an excellent leader and we vote for him for Employee of the Month! Website does say tour is one hour. Ours lasted slightly less than 45 minutes. 4 people @ $50 a pop, we’d like it to have lasted the full hour.
Our guide, Fox, & O’Brian, the horse, gave us a wonderful tour. We agree the carriage tour & the Boone Plantation were our favorite excursions on our trip to Charleston.
Wasnt the operators fault, but our city designated route left a bit to be desired. We saw some cute neighborhoods, but missed most of the tourist attractions. This would have been better if not advertised as a site seeing trip, it’s a lovely carriage ride with some fun facts but not to see the tourist spots.
Our guide, Heidi, was super knowledgeable about Charleston and the history of the city. Our horse was Ricky, the most elder horse in the stable, and he moved a little slowly but did his job regardless.
We had a really fun ride, he was funny and informative. We heard information about the area we never knew.
Excellent tour and driver. Very knowledgeable.
Guide was very knowledgeable and informative!
Very knowledgeable and entertaining!
A fun and terrific way to tour the city of Charleston's charming homes, buildings, streets in a horse-drawn carriage. We had an excellent tour guide, oo.
Relaxing ride with a guide that was very knowledgeable of the history of old Charleston, as well as explaining the care of the horses and rules of the road.
I forgot our guides name, but the horses name was Ace. We had a blast, the guide was comical and very knowledgeable!! I highly recommend seeking out Ace and his partner.
Took advantage of EARLYBIRD special for 9am tour. Best way to see the city for multigenerational outing.
Our guide was very funny and informative! He taught us a lot that we didn't know about Charleston! The horse was great and the sights were breathtaking! It was well worth the fee and just enough time to see everything! Would have loved a carriage ride for just my husband and I but there were not too many people on the ride. Plus we were in the front so it was like we were on the ride by ourselves! ;)
Great guide and horse! She shared a lot of history and answered questions.
Just a fun way to get thru market area & see some highlights of history. Our guide Christina & horse Curtis were a great team.
We really enjoyed the carriage tour. This was our first trip to Charleston, so we wanted to see and hear the history before we walked around on our own. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Would definitely recommend this tour of Charleston.
The guide was professional and engaging
We had an excellent time, the ride was fantastic, the ticket purchasing process was very easy and the guide was excellent.
Fair price and wonderful guide plus Winston the horse was exceptional! We learned all about early Charleston and especially like going through “south of Broad” to see the oldest homes from the 18th century. Don’t miss this tour!
It was a great time with Terry and Curtis! Curtis was our horse and Terry was our guide! Terry had us in stitches some of the time and he was very knowledgeable about our tour. It was a pleasure to have this carriage ride. Thank You!
We loved Arthur (the horse) our guide was nice and fun - thank you
This horse carriage ride was absolutely amazing. It was great to see all of the knowledge throughout the city, learned the history and the architecture. Our guide was super friendly and very knowledgeable and funny. The horse was amazing would totally recommend.
We love these rides. Always a must for friends and family from out of town to learn a little of Charlestons history and experience its beauty
Great experience. Taylor (guide) and Winston (horse) were great.
I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Charleston. Actually, I'd take the tour again if the tour operator would send me in a different direction because there's so much to see. Our tour director did a great job describing everything and talking about the rich history of Charleston. She had a background in horticulture and gardening is one of my hobbies so, I enjoyed her comments about the local trees and shrubs. Our horse, Cooper, may have been the star of the show. I loved the way he interacted with the driver and his surroundings.
The arrival and check-in was very smooth. Parking is a little tricky. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Not quite sure if we saw all parts of the town. There was a lottery system they used to decide what route we’d take. This time of year was beautiful - the weather was fantastic. It made the tour very enjoyable.
Our guide Taylor was very knowledgeable and fun. Winston our horse was absolutely beautiful and made the experience even more enjoyable
This was a great entertaining tour of Charleston. Our guide had a vast knowledge of interesting information on the city. Jasper gave us a smooth ride.
Driver Chey was very knowledgeable about the town of Charleston and its history. Loved also hearing about the special care that Prescott receives. What a beautiful horse! Thank you
This was an okay activity. A bit hard to understand the guide and didn’t really see a whole lot of pretty or interesting sites.
Very comfortable, informative and enjoyable. The horse was beautiful and well managed. Our tour guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
Emerson was an excellent guide and Ernie was an awesome horse pulling the carriage.
Very informative and relaxing . It was a great time and we learned a lot about history and other fun facts
Billy was very funny and very knowledgeable.
Lovely experience. The information was both entertaining and helpful informational so a good combination.
Emily, the tour guide (and her horse Winston) was a great guide. She was very friendly, informative and funny. It was easy to tell she really enjoys her job, and her love of the city shows. I learned a few things I never knew about the city. When I get a chance to return to Charleston, I will be booking another tour with Old South Carriage company!
We loved it. Our guide, Billy, was knowledgeable and funny. Moose was our horse. Adorable. Enjoyed learning the history and seeing beautiful homes. We were happy to hear how well the horses are treated. Highly recommend.
It was informative and fun. The weather was perfect and the orator really knew his stuff when answering questions.
Our guide Heidi was exceptional ! Very personable, entertaining, and knowledgeable of the area and it's history. She made you feel very welcome and wanted. The tour was well planned and orchestrated. Our horse Rex was very sweet, patient and gentle. The care that is given to the horses is exceptional. They are pampered, loved and very well taken care of. This is a Charleston MUST DO!!
This tour provided an entertaining and informational tour of some of the city highlights. Curtis the horse did an exceptional job and our guide was very entertaining.
Taylor was outstanding! Knowledgeable, engaging, fun. Glad we drew her as our guide! Ronald the horse amazing too!
We booked the carriage tour through the Tri-Combo Tour through Charleston Harbor Tours. The Tri-Combo includes a harbor tour, a carriage tour, and a plantation tour. We were very happy with that package because it pretty much covered everything someone would want to be sure they covered on a Charleston visit. Our narrator was humorous & informative, very knowledgeable and we loved the carriage ride!
Very popular and nice carriage ride and interesting history tour while in Charleston, South Carolina.
