This is a must do! Such a fun, informative, interactive shrimp boil in the Shem Creek area. Captain Brian has lived in the low country and supported the local shrimping industry almost his whole life…his knowledge of the area and industry is amazing…and the food is fantastic!!!

What an incredible experience! The perfect blend of amazing food, local culture, and genuine Southern hospitality from Captain Bryan and Adrienne! The shrimp boil was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Beyond the food, Capt. Bryan did a fantastic job sharing stories about the area's history, shrimping traditions, and local way of life, making the experience feel authentic, personal, and memorable. The setting on Shem Creek was beautiful and relaxed, creating the perfect atmosphere to sit back, enjoy great food, and take in the scenery. If you're visiting the Charleston area and looking for something unique, fun, and genuinely local, I highly recommend this experience. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would happily do it again! A true gem!
SHRIMPly spectacular! This was my favorite experience of my recent trip to Charleston. Captain Bryan and Adrienne are well-seasoned (last pun, I PRAWNmis), and know just how to show you and your group a great time. We learned a ton about the local shrimp, enjoyed learning how to remove the shells, and most importantly chowed down on some phenomenal shrimp…shrimp two ways! I couldn’t recommend this experience more.
Truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip! The most delicious shrimp, a genuinely entertaining experience, Captain Brian and Adrienne are expert hosts. Don’t hesitate to book this, there is no world in which you regret it!
Amazing experience! Captain Brian was very accommodating of dietary restrictions (gluten free). Food was delicious, and I learned a lot about the local history.
Amazing experience with Captain Bryan and his first mate (wife) Adrian made us feel part of the family and together we made a great low country shrimp boil along with getting a rich history of Shrimping in South Carolina. Highly recommended!!
My husband and I loved this! Not only was it a cute and wholesome date night activity but we actually learned how to make the dishes ourselves in the process so we can continue enjoying in the future. Thanks for so much fun!
Captain Bryan’s Backyard Shrimp Boil on Shem Creak was a fantastic experience! We were a family of 12; spanning 4 generations with ages from 4 - 78. Everyone raved all week about the excellent food, the interactive eating of local fresh foods while hearing great stories and information about the shrimping industry and the location. He went out of his way to accommodate our needs and engage with everyone in the group. I wish I had more pictures to share; I was enjoying myself so much I didn’t’ pick up my phone!
Our family had an absolutely amazing time with Captain Bryan and his wife for our shrimp boil! We learned many fun facts and history of the Charleston area and the fishing/shrimping industry, plus we got some good local tips on restaurants and how to cook fresh fish. It was a great excursion for our family of all ages, ranging from 4 to 74 years old. The food was delicious and watching the sunset on the harbor was the cherry on top! Would highly recommend for any family or large groups visiting the Charleston area.
Captain Bryan was fantastic! Very knowledge on the area and the history, answered any questions we had and was fun to talk fishing with, too! The ceviche was amazing and the shrimp boil was even better!! Highly recommend Captain Bryan and any of his tours.
Amazing experience! Great food and great history of the shrimping industry. My family highly recommends!
Our hosts were excellent! They were full of knowledge and the food was excellent! Setting on the water was perfect as well.
The experience was great. Food was off-the-chain. The entire group was satisfied and full. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the hospitality.
Very cool. Told us history about shrimping. The shrimp were pretty good. Captain Brian was very friendly.
This Shrimp Boil with Capt. Bryan was one of our favorite nights we had in Charleston. Highly recommend this activity to anyone looking for a local experience away from the hustle of downtown Charleston. The food was awesome, but only a part of the experience. It was fun meeting other couples from across the country and getting to help prepare some of the food. As a 7th-generation Charlestonian, Capt. Bryan's knowledge about the history of Charleston is incredible. I really enjoyed hearing about the history of the shrimping industry in the area. I wish we had time to do some of the other tours, Capt. Bryan offers, next time we're in Charleston, we'll definitely be booking with him again.
These guys were awesome! We had a group of 30 down for a bachelor party and the team showed up and more than exceeded expectations. Everything was perfect and can’t wait to book another outing with them!
Awesome experience, amazing food, great people - highly recommend
These guys are pros! Showed up on time with a very cool trailer. All the food was super fresh and cooked to perfection. Managed to feed 35 hungry guys with plenty of leftovers. Brought tables to eat on and a variety of spices and sauces to go with the food. Great food and great experience.
Really cool set-up, perfect for big groups. I’d recommend them to anyone seeking a clean, professional, and most importantly delicious boil.
Food was amazing and the staff were super kind. I did this with a large group and they were able to accommodate perfectly
An absolutely wonderful experience. Backyard was able to cater for 30 of me and my friends and it went completely flawlessly. They arrived at our Airbnb and served up an amazing seafood boil right in our backyard. Food was incredible and service was top notch.
Awesome experience! 100% recommend!
Backyard shrimp boil delivered an amazing experience for me and my friends. The ceviche to start was incredible along with the boil itself. I cannot recommend this enough.
Cap’n Bryan and his wife Adrienne were amazing! We had a large bachelor party with a lot of people never having been to Charleston before. It was a perfect way to get a taste of the local food scene while also super convenient for the number of people. They showed us true southern hospitality and treated us like family. 10/10
I can’t say enough good things about Captain Brian and this experience! We were the only ones that booked and while most hosts would have canceled, he put on the best night for us. Two kinds of ceviche with fresh local shrimp plus the boil and drinks deserves more than 5 stars. We learned about how to peel and pick shrimp, the history, and loved the view of the creek where dolphins and boaters passed by. Authentic and fun, we really loved it and would book again. Thank you, Brian!
We had the BEST time at this very cool and informative event. We traveled to Charleston for a girls weekend and this was such an amazing addition to our itinerary. It exposed us to new area and we learned so much about the shrimping industry from Captain Brian! He is obviously very passionate about shrimp! Highly recommend adding to your must do list!
Great food, great company. Highly recommend
This is the best thing we did on our trip. Captain B showed us what true southern hospitality is and made us feel like we were old friends instead of first time visitors. He genuinely cares about the shrimping industry and conveys that to his guests along with an amazing meal. He went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was satisfied and full! I can’t wait to come back here and take other tours that he offers. This was truly a unique and special experience.
A cooking lesson, delicious local shrimp and historical tales of the area made this experience one to remember! Cheers to this husband and wife team for offering this authentic shrimp boil by the water. We loved it and hope to bring friends next time!
Captain Bryan and his wife are the most engaging hosts. Our group of ten learned so much about the history of shrimping in Charleston and how to prepare a Shrimp boil. The setting is incredible with views of sunset over Shem Creek and ample wildlife. Did I mention the food was incredible! We all highly recommend this experience.
Great experience and amazing views of Shem Creek! Truly felt like a local experience that’s hard to find elsewhere. Food was 10/10 as well!
We are local and in the news last year we heard that most restaurants in Charleston don’t serve local shrimp. So when I had family in town we decided to try this and see if we could taste the difference and it was absolutely amazing trying some local shrimp. “Capt B”told us the season had just opened and the first of the fresh shrimp had started coming in. The ceviche might have been our favorite part but the boil was 💯. Thanks Capt for the lessons about the industry, the new friends we made, and supporting the local shrimpers. Would highly recommend for any locals or tourists alike to get a one of a kind experience! - Lee
Captain Bryan is the absolute BEST! His knowledge, experience and story telling keep you riveted and engaged. He is full on Charleston hospitality! The shrimp cooking class provided interesting background of the shrimping industry and species types. Preparations of the appetizer and boil were as enjoyable as they were delicious. He adds the family hometown feeling to the whole experience. It was lovey to also meet his wonderful wife, Adrianne. Would not be a complete Charlston experience without doing this!!! It is a must!!!
We had a terrific time learning about the local shrimping industry, different types of shrimp, and eating a fantastic low country boil. Capt, B and his wife Adrian were the perfect hosts. The view of Shem Creek from the shore was amazing and we actually got to see dolphins swim by. Great time - highly recommend.
Bryan is the ultimate host, so much knowledge about the area and industry! The most personable and truthful (!) guide in my experience. Would book ANY tour with this great guy!
Capt Bryan is so informative, great host and super fun! We actually originally took one of his downtown tours (Hops and Prohibition Tour) and learned he has this shrimp boil... immediately we booked this wonderful cooking class/shrimp boil. What a fun evening and informative regarding the local shrimp businesses, definitely an experience that beats going out for dinner at a restaurant! And a great location. I will be back the next time I am in town!
Hidden gem on Shem Creek and small venue so got a lot of attention and plenty of food to bring a to go box home too!! Great shrimp stories and cooking ideas! Food delicious and Bryan and Adrienne were a joy
We had the best experience with Capt. Bryan and his wife for a Lowcountry shrimp boil at sunset, it was absolutely beautiful. We’re locals and chose this to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The setting along the water with the shrimp boats and sunset was stunning, and the food was fresh, authentic, and so good! Capt. Bryan and his wife were incredibly welcoming and made the whole night feel special and effortless. Such a unique local experience, highly recommend supporting them! We’ll definitely be back!
My husband and I loved this experience. So unique. Delicious food, beautiful views, a visit from a dolphin, Charleston shrimping history…an overall fun night! Go ahead and book this! You won’t want to miss it! Thank you Bryan for a really fun night!
Capt Bryan provided a hidden gem of an experience, I am so glad my husband and I found this. The backdrop of the harbor and the shrimp boats made this extra special as we enjoyed some shrimp ceviche and then the shrimp boil. My photo is of the shrimp facility he sets up his trailer near which was rustic and unique. He was courteous to ask our spice tolerance and made sure our group enjoyed ourselves. We are from Florida and live near the coast but this was something we had never done before. Highly recommend this experience for the food, the views, but most of all for a one of a kind local : Captain Brian. Thank you !
I have done many of Captain Bryan's fantastic tours and when I saw there was now a shrimp boil experience, we had to try it at our latest visit! Boy did it not disappoint! The views were spectacular and the food was out of this world! There is nothing quite like eating authentic local foods that Cap B could tell us exactly where they all came from. You can really taste the difference! The ceviche was top notch. Overall an amazing experience with great people, a fun interactive experience, and all at a beautiful spot. I really felt like I got the real Charleston experience doing this. I will be recommending this, in addition to all of Captain Bryan's other tours, to anyone I hear is going to Charleston.
