Had never gone surfing and it was a great time with the instructor. She was very helpful and friendly. She seemed more excited by my progress than I did, which was a nice energy to have. This place also has very convenient scheduling all day round.

My two teenage daughters and their friend took a 2 hour lesson with Cam and loved it! This was their first ever surf lesson and Cam was patient and friendly with them. Would definitely recommend!

We had two 14 year old girls try it. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. They girls had so much fun!!

Great experience. The instructors were knowledgeable, friendly and comfortable teaching different age ranges in the semi private lesson. The lesson started on time and included about 20 minutes of land instruction and the remaining was in the water. Our 11 and 12 year olds had the best time.

INCREDIBLE! I took my son on a sweet 16 trip (we are from Minnesota) and one thing he wanted to do is learn to surf! My son was surfing in no time & had an absolute blast! They were so incredibly friendly, on time (great set up), good pricing, friendly staff and our instructor was so awesome! He was so encouraging, friendly & had my teen pumped the entire time! So pumped that we returned the next day for another lesson! My son LOVED Jack's surf lessons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Kev is amazing! So welcoming, knowledgeable and overall an amazing guy! He made my son feel so welcome, comfortable and made this a wonderful experience for both of us!

Most positive experience we could have hoped for! Instructors were super supportive and were super clear in their feedback and tips. Got up on the board WAYYYYY MOREEE than we fell off. It was good enough that we were prepared to rent our own boards the next day and go out on or own! Instructors took an interest in your personal lives and really made a huge effort to get to know you as a person. Positive and efficient even when they had a lot of students to focus on at once. It’s always a great feeling when someone remembers your name from the first moment you hear it too!!

This was a great experience for my granddaughters. They enjoyed it and Kevin is an awesome instructor.

Jack’s surf lesson was the highlight of our trip to Myrtle Beach. The price for the 2-hour lesson was great and the ratio of instructors to students was perfect. The instructors were knowledgeable, helpful and had a great attitude. Even with no previous surf experience, they had riding waves before the lesson was over. I would definitely recommend booking with Jack’s.

The instructors were incredible, kind and knowledgeable. They had my 64yr old dad, 5yr old son, two teenage girls and myself up surfing within the hour. We are fresh water people and never conquered the ocean before. We couldn't have done it with out the patience and wit of our instructors who stood by us in the water the whole time. I would recommend this even to anyone visiting the area. The photographer fee was well beyond the worth of the price. Pictures and memories of a lifetime. Thank you Kev, Collin, and Deanna. Had a great time at our surf lesson with Kevin. He was a great instructor and made sure we had the best time! He was very knowledgeable and had a great uplifting and positive personality. He was great at adapting the lesson to our skill level. 10/10 will do a lesson with him again! It was a blast.

"A family that surfs together stays together!" Wise words from Kevin, an incredible surf instructor and person. He and Genevive ("Gen") were the excellent instructors at Jack's that made me look SO good to my in-laws!! My father-in-law is celebrating his 85th birthday in South Carolina. I booked a last-minute semi-private group lesson for six (ages 11, 12, 15, 23, 29 and 54 yrs old). All beginners! Only 2 had ever surfed before. Only 1 had ever stood up on the board. By the end, all had stood up! All learned the basics. All had a great experience as a family. All left encouraged and excited to surf again. I cannot say enough positive things about this entire experience. There is a reason that the reviews RAVE about Jack's Surf Lessons and Rental. OF NOTE: Kevin and Gen were exceptional. They were patient, had great energy, easy to learn from and had remarkable insight. As someone who has worked in education and who has worked with students of all ages (1yr olds to 95 yr olds), I was in wonder at how they deftly handled the dynamics of an extremely diverse group of students. They encouraged those that had just begun. They bolstered the confidence of those that had taken prior lessons. They cheered on everyone and helped them to realize that wiping out is part of the surfing process. They gave wonderful, helpful pointers. My 20-something nieces had an amazing time and have made plans to return home and finally take lessons in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and check out surfing in Costa Rica. One said "[Gen and Kevin said that] they were stoked at how well I did. Well, I was STOKED about them." After watching the lessons, 3 adult family members wanted to sign up for lessons with Jack's. Some had been nervous because of their older age or because they felt less than confident about their swimming skills. Gen and Kevin put everyone (even the spectators) at ease. The South Carolina waters were gentle and predictable. The waves were large enough to paddle into without having to go out that far of a distance. The area felt private enough that no one felt embarrassed or self-conscious. Paige, who helped us at the desk when we checked in, was friendly, smart and helpful. Complications arose with our party and the app/digital system. Paige kept us informed and looked for prompt solutions. I was so impressed that Jack's was concerned about maintaining the 3:1 student teacher ratio and, also, about the safety of its students. Kevin explained this to me, as I was checking in our party. In fact, one kid was very nervous to go without her parent. Two MORE family members wanted to join the lesson because of the wonderful atmosphere that Jack's, its instructors and admin created but safety first! They can take a lesson another time! When we made our reservation, we didn't request the photography option but, nevertheless, Deanna took amazing photographs and videos of our group, which we received links less than 24 hrs after our lesson. My father-in-law took tons of photo and video but, before we received the links, asked me multiple times about taking a look at the professional shots. He said that he knew D had captured some moments that he had missed! Kevin, Gen, Paige and De worked together very well, as a team. I am SO impressed by Jack's and highly recommend Jack's to anyone in the Myrtle Beach or Surfside area!!!! TIPS FOR OTHER VACATIONERS/ PARENTS: Around 11:45am on a Thursday in very late August, there was plentiful free parking "on the street" - consisting of "stalls" like a typical parking lot. Like Jack's mentioned in their confirmation email, there is free street parking and there is also a white parking structure/garage (costs $10), but, luckily, we didn't need to use the latter. Jack's Shack is easily visible. It is right in front of the designated pier. I'm including it in my photos. There's a sign with additional information about rates. There's a shower that students can use when they leave the beach (to rinse off sand). If you're a parent or grandparent that wants to watch the lessons, walk to the left of the pier (facing Jack's Shack and the ocean) and set up on the sand nearby. There are restrooms on the pier and a small shop (where souvenirs, beach equipment (shell scoopy things!) and fishing licenses/equipment/bait are available. Fill out the waiver and forward the confirmation email to everyone in your party (or guardians of minors in your party) to fill out before the lesson. On the Jack's Shack, there is a sign that says that instructors work for tips. If you didn't know or don't bring cash, they send an email and text after the lessons so that you can tip online. I had a wetsuit for one kid but she didn't need it (and didn't want to wear it because her cousins and uncle weren't). The sand can get VERY hot so make sure to have removable foot gear. If you take a 2-hr lesson, the instructors will stop for a hydration/water break so bring a bottle of water or another hydrating liquid. No need for goggles (they will fall off when surfing/wiping out) We did the 12:15 2-hour lesson. The kids were ok even though they didn't eat anything other than breakfast. They were high with excitement and they weren't hangry (!!!) during or after the lesson. Even though we had lunch plans 20min away, they wanted to stay to play in the ocean and, if we could, they definitely would have rented a board and continues to surf after their lesson!

Honestly a phenomenal experience. I've always wanted to learn how to surf and I was definitely able to learn here. The instructor was awesome and had me out in the water super fast. She helped me learn how to take care of myself and how to be able to surf without her constant care/supervision which makes it so that I can do more by myself later. 100/10 experience.

Great time great instructor, got my moneys worth. The 2hr session is the way to go because 1 hr is just short. I would rec. this to anyone looking for a fun trip to the beach, and once the lesson was done your already at the beach. We started with surfing and then moved to buggy boarding.

Our family (parents and 14 year old son) took a group lesson. Our instructor, Lexi, was fantastic! We were each able to ride many waves and progressed quickly. Returned the next day to rent a board for a couple of hours and had just as much fun. Great way to spend family time with teens and tweens!

My two kiddos (10 yo and 12 yo) had an amazing time! Their instructor was the perfect mix of professional and the surfer energy that my kids really loved. The water was really rough, but he was a pro and helped them ride no problem. It was by far their favorite part of our trip. Highly recommend!

Absolutely awesome experience! This was probably the highlight of our trip. The instructors were amazing!! They stayed in the water with us the whole time, helping us catch waves and giving small tips and lots of encouragement. My daughters, who are 10 and 12, had no prior experience surfing and stood up several times, sometimes making it all the way to shore. If you are considering trying out surfing in this area, look no further! This is the place!

It was a wonderful experience for me and my 18 year-old daughter. The staff were so encouraging and helpful. We did not think we were actually going to be able to stand up on the board, but they were patient and we were successful at least a couple times! I highly recommend this company and the very encouraging young people they have working for them!

This was the best experience of our vacation. My 13 year old daughter didn’t want it to end. We all surfed and we all enjoyed it. The instructors were amazing they encouraged and motivated you the whole time

We’ve been coming to Jack’s Surf Lessons for three years in a row now, and every single time has been an incredible experience for our family. My kids, Ian and Peyton, absolutely love it here — and a huge part of that is thanks to their amazing instructor, Jenny. Jenny has the perfect mix of fun, patience, and professionalism. Her personality is so uplifting and encouraging, and she truly knows how to connect with kids while still challenging them to grow in their skills. Ian and Peyton both look forward to seeing her every summer, and it’s been awesome watching their confidence and ability on the board improve each year. The entire team at Jack’s is friendly, organized, and clearly passionate about what they do. We can’t recommend them highly enough — already looking forward to next year!

We booked a 2 hour private lesson for myself and two teens. We had a great time and learned the basics, and we're able to get up on the boards even. Our instructor (Danni) was amazing, super knowledgeable, and outgoing and made the experience very fun. I highly recommend booking surf lessons with Jacks Surf shop and Danni! My daughter had a 2 hour private lesson with Kevin! He was great! She never surfed before and he taught her the fundamentals then put those into practice with actual surfing. She loved it and now can go surfing in the future with this knowledge base. Highly recommend Kevin!!!

My wife booked private lessons for my 7 year old daughter and myself and I can’t say enough good things about the experience! Jackson was an incredible instructor and really made sure we both had a great time. After my last unsuccessful attempt at surfing a couple of years back, I decided I was too old to learn a new sport. But what do you know? My daughter wanted someone to join her for a lesson and I was her only option. Suffice to say, we both had a great time. The water was a perfect temperature, and the waves just right for beginners. Best of all was our instructor Kevin, who was unfailingly positive and encouraging. Despite many wipe-outs (fish-food in the surfing vernacular), I managed to ride the board onto dry land and received an ovation from the onlookers.

I had an awesome time with Joe. Highly recommend. Very patient and good instructor. I did 2 hour surf lesson and had a blast of a day. Thanks Joe! See you next time I come to the beach.

Her calm demeanor and clear instructions helped me navigate the challenges of the surf with growing confidence。 This surfing adventure, under Ruby's masterful tutelage, wasn't just a lesson—it was a transformative journey that left me eager for my next encounter with the waves.

My daughter had an amazing experience! Her instructor took his time between riding waves to explain what went right and what to improve on. She rode in many waves successfully! This was her first time surfing and caught on quickly. Since she was the only one signed up for that time frame we were given the suggestion to upgrade to the 1:1 session or change times. I’m glad we did the 1:1 to get the most out of the experience. We would definitely recommend Jacks!

We made last minute reservations the day before and got a confirmation right away. Kudos to Joe, the instructor, was great and patient. If you're not staying at one of the hotels located close by, just FYI, there's nowhere to change after the lesson. There's an outdoor shower that you can use to shower off but I'd recommend that you bring towels and a liner for your car.

Casper and Brooke are great! We had our first surfing lesson with them and they were amazing! They took time and were really good with our young children. Highly recommend!
