First let me say that our guide, John Markisz, was absolutely top notch! He was very knowledgeable, well spoken, funny, and so easy on the eyes 🥰 my sister and I had the best time on our guided tour (even though the winds fought us tooth and nail 🤣) and we would definitely book again when we come back! Prices were perfect, and we ended up being the only ones in our group so the one on two attention was spectacular! Thank you again John for a wonderful and informative tour of this beautiful island ❤️❤️❤️

This was our first time kayaking in Hilton Head. Mike was our tour guide and he was WONDERFUL! He was full of information and even took our pictures and sent them to us later in the day. Highly recommend this company. We even took the dolphin tour the day before.
We had such a fun time on this kayak tour! It was family-friendly, and we learned a lot of interesting information along the way. Our guide, John Markisz, was fantastic and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!
The sunset tour was so fun and beautiful! Definitely recommend! Our guide was Kelly W. She was great! Very knowledgeable and educated us on lots of the history and water life.
Wendy was great & so informative, highly recommend.
We had a really enjoyable kayak tour with our guide, Michael. It was a beautiful day and he shared lots of information about the wildlife in the area. We saw lots of different birds and were lucky enough to also see some dolphins and crabs.
Very enjoyable kayaking excursion. The water was calm and the sun was shining. I saw dolphins so close I could hear them breathing. I also saw many different birds. At least 25 different species of birds. Many were very close to the kayak. My guide Michael was very knowledgeable. Pointing out all kinds of things along the way. I learned so much. I will definitely do this tour when I return.
A beautiful day and a beautiful experience. Michael, our guide, was very enthusiastic, welcoming and knowledgeable.
Michael was a fantastic guide. We learned so many things about the area. This was the highlight of our trip. We would definitely book this trip again.
We had a fantastic time. Small group - just us (4) and the guide, John Markisz. We lucked out with the dolphins and weather. Followed a pod of 3-5 dolphins for about an hour. John is fun, informative, experienced, trustworthy, helpful, courteous, and most importantly enthusiastic.
I can’t say enough about this excursion lead by our tour guide, John. We paddled and were just awestruck by the unexpected beauty around us…..and dolphin activity! We were absolutely not expecting that at all. Our guide was so friendly, easygoing and patient! It was absolutely the highlight of our visit to HH. We can’t wait to book again!!!
This kayak tour had only 4 of us. It was relaxing paddling through a small portion of the spartina salt marsh. Information shared about the area was very limited. Some knowledge of grasses and birds. Very little historical information. Our guide was very young, inexperienced. She did a good job on the dock giving simple kayak instructions. On the water no guidance was given to help the inexperienced tandem kayakers we were with. Overall, this tour was not of value and we would not recommend this particular tour. We would recommend any tour with Dean!
We did the low tide morning tour. It was nice bcs it was cooler and you could see the oysters and more layers of the ecosystem. A high tide tour would allow you to explore the smaller tributaries.
Learned a lot about ecosystem. Very peaceful and enjoyable. William was very accommodating and made me feel comfortable.
Great trip and staff was friendly
This was so awesome I had 3 dolphins swim under my kayak and surface so close I could have touched them!!
Phillip was a great naturalist and guide! Very knowledgeable of the area and able to answer all of our questions.
We had a great time and enjoyed learning about the local ecosystem. Didn’t see dolphins, but still had fun! We did the 8:30 tour and were glad we did. It wasn’t as hot, and we learned that certain parts of the tour aren’t as accessible when the tide is low due to the oyster beds. We would do this again!
Good peaceful trip. Great time for our family together watching birds and listening to the sounds of nature.
The experience was a lot of fun. The Guide was very knowledgeable of the surroundings nature habitat and wetland tides. And we were able to see a lot of cool wildlife including dolphins swimming within a few feet of our kayaks. Very exciting
I had an amazing time kayaking with Kelly; she was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience both instructional and educational. I learned a lot about the local wildlife and ecosystem of the salt Marsh. Kelly’s instruction was clear and easy to follow, and she was so friendly and welcoming it made me feel really comfortable my first time kayaking. I’d highly recommend this guide and Outside Brands to anyone looking to learn Kayaking while gaining a deeper understanding of the area!
Casual kayaking through Broad Creek. Shannon was very knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable!
Our guide, Kelly, was amazing! She greeted us before the trip start time while we were waiting, making us feel welcome and appreciated. Kelly was knowledgeable, patient, professional and concerned about our enjoyment and welfare. Our time on the water was fun and informative due to Kelly’s expertise. Our trip included watching the fireworks while on the water. What a great way to see them. I’ve been wanting to do that for years.
An amazing way to experience the natural beauty of Hilton Head! The two-hour kayak tour was relaxing, fun, and very well organized. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience even more enjoyable with interesting information about the local wildlife, marshes, and Lowcountry ecosystem. We loved paddling through the peaceful waterways and looking for dolphins and beautiful birds along the way. The equipment was well maintained, and the whole experience felt safe and comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hilton Head—this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
Great tour, guide and beautiful area.
We had a lovely time with Kelly. Great way to get out on the water and learn some really cool things about the area. Worth every penny! Two hours was just right. Only regret, should have taken some photos.
Great experience! Learned a lot about the area and the wild life. Looking forward to booking again.
Cole did an incredible job leading our guided kayak Trip!! And, we met some very cool dolphins that followed us all the way back into shore!
Great 2 hour tour got to see manatees!! Reese was great guide, and everyone had fun
Had an amazing experience with our guide Tom M. He was very knowledgeable about both the ecology and history of the region and fielded many questions from our group. We were fortunate to see dolphins up close, spoonbills and many other varieties of birds, plus much more. Overall great experience.
Our family of 4 went on the 2 hour nature tour with the fireworks and we had an absolutely amazing time! We had two double kayaks and I was a little concerned that my daughter and I wouldn't be able to keep up but it was a lot easier than expected. Kelly W was our tour guide, she was knowledgeable, excited about what she does and patient with all of us. It was so fun to watch the fireworks this way but also getting to see the sunset was stunning! We were also lucky enough to see dolphins which made us all very excited!
We had an excellent kayaking experience with Outside Hilton Head on Broad Creek, departing from Shelter Cove. Our guide had been with the company for four years and was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and informative. He did a wonderful job guiding us through the marsh and teaching us about the local birds, oysters, cordgrass, wildlife, and history of the area. Even though we have taken several similar trips over the years, we always enjoy returning because there is something new to learn each time. This was a relaxing, educational, and memorable way to experience the natural beauty of Hilton Head Island. We would definitely recommend Outside Hilton Head to anyone interested in learning more about the island’s environment, wildlife, and history.
We had a wonderful Hilton Head guided kayak nature tour in June. Our guide was Anna and she was so knowledgable about the waters and local wildlife--her love of it really shone through. It was a beautiful day and the water was full of dolphins. It was so fun to experience it.
Go early when it’s not blazing hot and at low tide to see a lot of creatures feeding - including dolphins! We got lucky and saw some manatees as well - our tour guide Anna Gray was very knowledgable about the bird species and kept our family group aged 10-55 engaged !Great family expedition.
It’s a lot of work. Our guide took off and it was a constant struggle to keep up. One of our group bottomed out and got stuck. Our guide never came and offered to help. He basically sat there and laughed
Great kayaking trip around Shelter Cove with William. He was very knowledgeable of the area and made sure to keep the group together. Headed out just after low tide which made it a bit harder to get around, so I recommend picking a time where the tide is higher!
My 10yo son and I signed up for the group tour through our resort and were lucky enough to be the only ones. Michael was our guide. I'm an experienced kayaker, but it was my son's first time. Michael gave him a quick lesson and we were off. We went 3 or 4 miles. Saw some beautiful birds. Michael gave us some great info on the environment, oysters, grasses, tides, etc. He set a wonderful pace for us. We stopped to rest and chat at great intervals. And we were lucky enough to have a little dolphin family find us and swim with us for a few hundred yards. Unbeknownst to us, Michael was kind enough to get some candid photos of us taking it all in. I would expect the larger group tours to be just as great, and would highly recommend this outfit.
Michael is great. We had a great time in the morning tour with great weather. It is great for family.
Michael was amazing - very knowledgeable and a great guy to go out with on the water on a hot day. Everyone had a great time. Highly recommend it!
We had such an amazing morning kayak excursion with Michael. He was very good with our 7 and 9 year old. He was very knowledgeable about the area and had interesting local facts that interested the kids. We were formulate enough to see over a half dozen different types of birds, oysters, dolphins, manatees and a baby alligator (from afar). Our children said it was the best part of our trip!
Amazing sunset kayak tour! Kelly was a super awesome tour guide, and the setting was serene and beautiful. We learned so much about the local eco system, saw dolphins and other cool creatures and critters. My only complaint is there is not enough parking! We were lucky enough that a local man helped us find a “safe” spot under a tree that wasn’t nearby residents’ parking or a yellow curb, but we did see others getting towed on our way out. Could have been us if it weren’t for this nice gentleman. That being said, show up at least a half hour early so you can stalk the parking lot for someone to leave lol.
We had the best kayak tour with Kelly in Hilton Head! It was the 4th and we watched the fireworks that evening. We saw the best show on the water! We also saw manatees who greeted us in the marina. I have always wanted to see a manatee. It was a fun group and we will definitely go again!
Spent a spectacular evening kayaking on Broad Creek with our guide Kelly W. She made the experience both fun and educational. After kayaking in the lovely breeze and watching the sunset, we experienced an amazing fireworks show that occurred immediately overhead. I will remember this experience for the rest of my life. Well worth the cost.
We booked this very last minute and it was a great time! We had a little private tour since it was just us 3 and Pat. Pat was the best tour guide! He gave us lots of kayaking tips I had never known before. Lots of information about the wildlife and history of the area as well. Beautiful adventure. Would do again if we’re back in Hilton Head!
Tour guide was great. She threw minor facts into our tour that were funny and risqué. We loved it!!!
Loved our kayak tour with Michael. He was knowledgeable in the various bird species, plants, and aquatic life that we experienced on our 2 hour adventure.
We had an amazing experience. Great meeting/ launching point, good equipment and our guide, John M, was exceptional. John was very knowledgeable about the local area and ecology, a good instructor, safe, very friendly and very patient. The trip length was perfect too. I’d highly recommend to others visiting the area. Mike B
It was a fun birthday activity but the winds made the water a little choppy. It was fine in the calm still water areas but when it started getting too choppy we had to turn around and go back the way we came, which was very taxing on the body lol BUT it was fun and we made it back safely. And we saw TWO dolphins.
Go during low tide, that’s when the dolphins are out. We only saw one during the high tide. The tour guide was definitely new and in training and did fine, they just need more experience.
We had an amazing experience with Outside for a family kayaking tour during our Hilton Head vacation. I can't say enough about our main guide, Hodge. He has such a fantastic personality and not only made the trip so much fun, but was also so clear with instructions, safety info, and interesting facts throughout the tour, and was so supportive and engaging with the kids in our group. You should go just to meet and hang out with this guy. Trent was another guide assisting us and he was also great, easy to talk to, adding to the tour info, and pulling up the rear to keep us all in line. The tour was a good length (2 hrs) and had the perfect balance of freedom to paddle and stops for chatting. Also love that Outside really seems to care about the ecosystem here and has initiated and maintains several efforts to engage the community and implement sustainability programs. Huge thanks to this team!
