What an amazing stay at the Double Tree Oceanfront Resort in Myrtle Beach Oceanfront beach and pier access with a balcony overlooking the property. All equipped with a lazy river, adult and kiddie pools, water slides, a pool bar and restaurant on site with free pier access with your wrist band!! Amazing for those early sunrise morning and sea collection escapade’s There is also a free mini golf course on site, but it was pretty dilapidated and run down. There is free coffee in the morning but being part of the Ellie, we had to walk over to the main building. Wish this was a little bit more convenient. There was only one elevator in the area where we were booked, and this took a while. Loading and unloading took some time. There is plenty of parking as well as a parking garage on site There is an airport that is right next to the property so you can hear it. However, it wasn’t really noticeable during sleep and didn’t bother us. It is pretty cool to watch the planes takeoff from behind the hotel.

When I arrived, I got lost and had to drag my luggage a long way because the signage is misleading. The doubletree and the Ellie are one property with one lobby. Once I got checked in, I had a long walk back to the doubletree. It was extremely hot and humid and the rooms all open to outside breeze ways. I loved the parking garage after I located it in relation my room. The room was large and the bed was comfortable, but the floor had sand that stuck to everything. It wasn’t from me, I never set foot on the beach. The bathroom is a bit of a nightmare. The door opens towards the light switch. This makes your options either leave the light on, or close the door and search for the switch in pitch black. The shower had nice hot water for about 5-7 minutes, then cold water. The balcony was great and the view was incredible. The staff was great and helpful, but I never saw a staff member in the doubletree, only when I walked to the Ellie. It was not too crowded and a decent price for oceanfront. I might be inclined to look at a different hotel when I return. I like a hot shower.
Being a Hilton property, we expected a better experience. The only clean building is where you check in. The room was okay but the balcony door did not close and had no lock. Not good if you have little kids that like to explore. Not sure why they advertise a putt putt golf as it’s a dumb and had no club or ball to use. The pools were motel style at best. Never opened at 9am as advertised and good luck getting a beach towel. The pool grounds were never cleaned for the 5 days there. Kids dirty diapers sitting around and they never moved, so it was clear they don’t clean the area. The family pool seems to only be cleaned every couple of days. If you need a bathroom while enjoying a pool day, good luck. The adult only pool was better, but can’t use with kids. Front desk staff was nice but don’t bother talking to the other staff. They seem to be in vacation mode and won’t help. Giving 3 stars only because it’s a good location and it you want a motel experience/price, they will provide it. Last I checked, Hilton properties were not motels so this place needs to do better. I usually give great reviews and feel bad doing this but you don’t get what they advertise.
We stayed there for a few days during the July 4th weekend. The room was nice, comfortable, seemed to have been fairly recently renovated, and everything worked well. Even though it was the July 4th weekend, it was rather peaceful and quiet most of the time, especially throughout the night. Our interaction with the staff was limited, but everyone was very polite and helpful. Mike B and Sarah were particularly helpful and informative. Beach access was great. There was ample and easily accessible parking in the attached parking garage. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and would certainly stay there again.
The room was a nice size and clean however the door to the balcony was extremely hard to lock and unlock. The chairs on the balcony were very hard and not comfortable to sit in and while sitting out there the hot air from the ac unit blows right on your back. The bed was comfortable. The coffee machine worked well but when the cleaners came in and changed the towels they didnt restock the tea bag so i only got to use the machine 1 time for that and twice for husbands coffee. The bathroom is small and awkward. The door opens right near the toilet and goes right up against the sink. There was only 1 light working in the bathroom which was the one for the mirror. That light switch is located in the wall by the sink which is a bad design when trying to go into the bathroom. We didn't have to use our keys on property for anything but the elevators and door to our room. All the pool areas opened right up without using it. We checked the pool bar a few times while we were in and out and it was not opened. The rooms are located in another area from the front desk and restaurant. The hotel is right on the water and not too far from everything. You do get to walk in the pier at no extra cost which was good and they offer rental fishing poles if you want to fish. Overall an ok experience for us.
