Such a beautiful hike and amazing experience. I learned so much about the glacier from my guide Przemyslav who was so fun and made sure everyone had a great time. Highly recommend!

Itinerary
Meet your certified glacier guide at our Skaftafell meeting point and gear up with the necessary glacier equipment, including crampons, a helmet and an ice axe. Before setting off, your guide will give you a safety briefing and explain how to use the equipment and move safely on the ice. Once ready, travel by vehicle with your group to the glacier. Step onto the ice and begin your guided glacier hike through an ever-changing landscape of crevasses, ridges and other natural ice formations. Along the way, learn how glaciers form, move and change while taking in the dramatic scenery surrounding Skaftafell. Enjoy plenty of time to take photos, admire the surrounding mountains and experience the scale and beauty of one of Iceland’s spectacular glacier landscapes. Explore a naturally formed ice cave, tunnel or other accessible ice formation, where you can see the textures, layers and colors of glacial ice up close and stop for photos. As the glacier is constantly changing, the route and ice formation visited depend on conditions and safety on the day. After your glacier exploration, return to the vehicle for the transfer back to the meeting point in Skaftafell.

I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for this tour but it truly was an experience of a lifetime. Brook our guide was so knowledgeable and personable and that made the experience even better. The shear magnitude of the glacier is mind boggling. If you are coming to Iceland this is a must do!
We had Przemyslav as our guide on the glacier hike and he was amazing! Dude is super chill and very passionate about the geography of Iceland and of course an expert in safety and techniques, very friendly and was able to answer any question thrown at him. If anyone deserves the helicopter training it's this guy!
Przemek, you have eyes as captivating as the ice itself. From the very beginning, I could feel your genuine love for glaciers and your incredible enthusiasm for sharing that passion with others. It wasn’t just a job for you — it was something you truly love, and that made all the difference. Your knowledge and professionalism were impressive, but what made me trust you so completely was the way you shared everything with such confidence, sincerity, and warmth. You made the glacier feel not only fascinating, but also understandable and approachable. We felt we were in good hands every step of the way. I still remember your words: “All you need is charisma, experience, and a unique approach to people.” And you embody every single one of those qualities. You don’t just guide people across a glacier; you connect with them, make them feel comfortable, and turn a few hours into something meaningful and unforgettable. Thank you, Przemek, for sharing not only your knowledge, but also a little piece of who you are. The ice may be cold, but your passion and warmth made this experience truly special. I’ll remember this hike — and the guide with ice in his eyes — for a long time to come.
Our glacier hike was an absolutely wonderful experience, and so much of that was thanks to our incredible guide, Przemek. He was so enthusiastic, passionate, warm, and genuinely kind. You could really feel how much he loves what he does, and his passion made the entire experience even more special. He explained the glacier, its formations, and everything around us so clearly and engagingly. We learned so much while having an amazing time throughout the entire three hours. He made the experience both fun and fascinating, and his genuine enthusiasm was truly contagious. What touched me the most was how, despite spending only three hours together, I genuinely felt sad when it was time to say goodbye. That says so much about the kind of person and guide Przemek is. He made us feel welcome, cared for, and completely immersed in the experience. Thank you, Przemek, for sharing your knowledge, passion, and positive energy with us. This was so much more than just a glacier hike — it was a truly memorable experience that I will look back on with a big smile. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Highly recommended — if you get the chance to hike with Przemek, you’re in for something special!
Really nice experience! I did the trip with the ice cave . Every time you visit the area there is a different ice cave to visit depending on the natural phenomena. Our guide was Mateo and he was really cool with good knowledge of the glaciers and it seems that he really loves his job and the nature . I wish we had more time to walk on the glacier longer but because of the caves we did not have so much time. Overall I really recommend it , especially with Matteo !
My son and I have just returned from doing a 2 week ring road tour of Iceland. The whole holiday was amazing but this was one of the absolute highlights. We kept our expectations low - we were aware that there can be no guarantee as to the the formation of the ice caves but we were taken to two! One was long and we could walk right through. The other was small but so blue. Walking on the glacier was something I will never forget. We learned a lot about glaciers from our guide, Barto, who made sure everyone was properly equipped, safe and had a great experience.
This tour was the highlight of our trip. The ice caves were beautiful but the views and the knowledge our guide provided about the glacier was our favorite part. What an adventure! It enhanced our appreciation of Iceland!
Our glacier hiking and ice climbing excursion was absolutely fantastic and interesting! The view was unique!! Our guide Águst was amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about what he does! We had great time! We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure in Iceland!
This is an amazing hike on the glacier to see the glacier features including an ice cave. The pace was not strenuous and our guide was good at explaining how to safely walk on the glacier. We even got to drink water from the glacier. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Iceland.
Helgee our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable! The ice caves were beautiful. Please be warned the nature of ice caves is that they constantly melt and change. As a result the caves are not a short jeep drive or guaranteed to be 10 feet tall like in the photo. These guides work their ass off in dangerous conditions to find and create an ice tunnel experience, so going in with that knowledge helps you appreciate it more.
If you’re looking for a simple, non-strenuous way to experience the beauty of a glacier, this tour is perfect. It’s an easy and scenic adventure that anyone can enjoy. Personally, I prefer more challenging, high-adrenaline activities, so I found it a little tame—but it was still a fantastic day out and worth doing for the incredible views.
It was an amazing experience!! I highly recommend it!! And what a fantastic tour guide ! We had the opportunity to enter the cave and also saw a bit of the glacier break off.
Thank you for the tour Odysseas. It was so educating and fun. The glacier we visited is amazing and we saw so many cool spots.
Angelika was a wonderful guide, very friendly and knowledgeable, we were lucky to be in a small group so just chatted the whole way round. She was clearly very well trained and highly competent on the ice, giving us really good advice on technique and keeping us safe in a hazardous environment.
We had a private tour. Our guide Brook made us feel very safe around the crevasses. The tour was beautiful, Brook knew a lot of the geology.
Brook and Isabella 100% asome guides great tour great people and safety, professionals recommend 100%. Bus ride was great.
Trust the crampons, they will work. Lovely trip to the ice cave our tour guid was great and gave us lots of additional information about the cave and surrounding areas along the way. Cave was smaller than I thought but time of year and temperature will define the cave’s appearance and size.
Our Tour Guide was Brook. He was very professional and we felt very save the entire trip on the glacier and in the cave. He gave many useful instructions and informations at the right time. Overall, it was a wonderful experience we will remember for a long time and one of hour highlights in iceland.
What an amazing experience. Our guide, lovingly nicknamed Ginger, was very friendly, knowledgable, passionate and funny. He was able to give us facts about the glacier and how climate change has affected it. Was a privilege to be able to hike this wonder before its too late. Highly recommend
Hanni (hope we spelled this right) was amazing and the sun was out so it was so cool seeing the sights with the sun reflecting off different places of the glacier!
We had a magical experience thanks to our knowledgeable, friendly guide Heini! We did a 3.5 hour small group glacier hike complete with ice cave and crevasse exploration. This experience blew me away. We saw the sun set across the glacier and made it back to base before full dark. Going with a skilled guide is the ONLY way to do this right and safely - this could be a scary, dangerous experience for some hikers, but Heini was the penultimate guide - she made it fun and interesting while keeping us safe and informed about how to navigate the terrain safely! This was a bucketlist, memory-making experience for us and one we will treasure always.
We went to the ice caves they were fabulous we had the most amazing tour guide who looked after our family so well. The tour guides told us all about the ice caves and glaciers. Thank you!
It was an awesome experience. A must-do when you go to Iceland! Agust was the one who welcomed us and gave us our gear. He was warm and made us comfortable before we started our adventure. He drove us back and forth our starting point and had a lot of information shared to us about the area. Our guide, Mark, was exceptional. Very knowledgeable of history, geology, and had a great sense of humor. We felt safe and had a lot of fun while hiking. We definitely recommend this activity!
One of the best experiences in iceland! Everything was very safe. Our guide Kári was an expert and made our tour very pleasant.
Bjarki was a great guide. Easy to talk to and knowledgeable of the glaciers. Highly recommend this tour and tour guide Bjorki
Esther guided is on a difficult glacier hike, complete with ice cave cave experience. She was knowledge and kept our group safe, as she navigated the glacier like a true professional. The ice cave was incredible! I am so glad to have had this very unique experience.
Really nice experience. Our guide Soffia did a great job showing us around and avoiding the other groups by being first at the ice cave.
This excursion was exceptional. Once you arrive to Skaftafell Base Camp and check in you will meet your guide who will check that you are outfitted appropriately (we went in February, so warm clothes, and sturdy boots that go above the ankles are required). Our tour guide was Fie, and she was absolutely incredible. Throughout the trek she ensured that we were safe, comfortable, and helped us capture amazing photos of the experience. After you receive your clampons, harness, helmet, and pickaxe you board a van that will drive you past Skaftafell glacier and to the twin glaciers. You take a short hike to get to the glacier/ice cave. On our tour we went to the ice cave first. It was majestic and we learned how old the ice is and how the caves are formed, we also got to see volcanic ash trapped in the ice. After the cave, we walked along the wide open part of the glacier which gives you a sense of the scale. As we climbed up the glacier we also got to walk through the ice crevasses, and even had the opportunity to repel down one as we descended the glacier. I highly recommend this experience if you are in south iceland and definitely recommend asking for Fie as your tour guide!
The tour was a small group activity but only two of us joined. It was very speciail tour and the guide was nice.
We are not usually into guided tours but it seemed the only way to reach the caves. To our surprise it was a pretty experience; Mick, the tour-guide, was funny and quiet, gave us enough time to enjoy caves and take pictures. We definitely recommend this tour and guides.
Day 1 we did with Rob and Brook, they took us up a small glacier near Glacier Lagoon and into these amazing ice caves. Rob was hilarious and a great guide, he made the trip extra special. Day 2 we did the BIG glacier hike with Sophia outside Skaftafell NP. She told us all the fun facts about the glacier and local Formations, and taught us tricks to keep our footing. She was an amazing and knowledgeable guide! - Jonathan and Blake

This was one of our favorite experiences of our whole trip to Iceland. The views were incredible! Our guide, Michal was great and made the experience really special.
DAGUR was THE BEST guide. He was SUPER!!! thanks to him we had an AMAZING experience. THX DAGUR !!!!
We had an awesome tour with Kari, a funny and excellent guide who could answer any question you could imagine, take him if you get him :)
Excellent experience with time to feel the glaciers accompaigned by just as excellent guidance by Kari Timsson, a very friendly and knowing guide showing great hospitality and making the experience simly excellent. Thank you!
Very nice experience The guide was great and prepared We were very fast and the guide bring us very high in the glacier Very recommended Ps Collelongo é stato qui
We absolutely loved our glacier experience! Our guide, Kari, was so fun and provided a great combination of knowledge about the area, light-hearted jokes and a very safe environment. The gear (crampons, ice axe, helmet) all worked great. We took a short and bumpy (~20 minute) bus to the site and then loved the time in the cave and exploring cool spots on the glacier itself. The walk itself was not too strenuous with many opportunities to stop and take photographs. If you can walk a 5k you should be totally fine on the excursion. Would highly recommend this experience!!
Everything about this was really great. They start by fitting you for the crampons then you get your other gear and soon you take a short drive to the glacier. It looked really dirty and black as you approach, but don’t worry its white ice where you actually get on it. A short easy hike, across a rickety bridge, and then you stop a bit so everyone can have a safety talk and get their crampons put in correctly. The guide takes you through everything step by step so even if you’re kind of an idiot like I sometimes can be, you should be just fine. Our guide was very personable and friendly and fun while also being professional the whole time. I’m sorry I don’t recall his name. This outfit, according to the guide, is also often called upon to rescue hikers who get trapped or hurt on the glaciers either because they did this alone or with less prepared guides. Once on the glacier it feels like you are in another world. You do get time to walk around and explore. The time in the ice felt like just enough. I don’t think anyone in our group seemed bored, nor did anyone seem upset that it wasn’t long enough. You get to see different ice features, take photos, and the guide will even help with group shots. We had an incredibly good time visiting Iceland, and this was the highlight. The way the tour was organized and the fun professionalism of the guide was a huge part of that. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience today with Mike (or some variation thereof!) - extremely friendly and knowledgeable tour guide and great iPhone photographer (he knew exactly what to do for the best photos for us). Tour was scheduled for 3.5 hours and we went for 4.5 - not rushed at all. Would highly recommend!!!
Robert was amazing, we had so much fun and learned a lot about glaciers! He took us to the cave last so that it wasn’t busy, and that was great. I’m
We travelled from Vik in heavy rain and high winds, prepared for extreme weather. However on arrival it was a sunny day, layers off and we borrowed sun cream. This hike was a little strenuous but once on the ice that was quickly forgotten. Antoine was our guide, quite a character, funny, knowledgeable and caring. The ice cave was a highlight.
We had a great time with Kari exploring the glacier. It was just us on the tour with him, so we got to explore around in some other areas which was super cool. Definitely would recommend this to anyone visiting Iceland, was the highlight of our trip. Thanks again Kari!
A must-see excursion in Iceland. It was a wonderful day and we got the best guide for the occasion. His name is Kari, very nice and friendly.
The best experience of my life by far! Standing on a huge glacier tongue and looking over the Icelandic lowland with the rest of the glacier rising like a jagged ice wave behind me, is the most humbling experience I've had. Our guide Michal from the Czech Republic, was the funniest and best guide I've ever had. He was very informative and interacted with the group in an amazing way. As a solo traveler, I even made some new friends in the group. This adventure and Michal, are the reason I will always look back at this trip as one of the most life changing and adventurous moments of my life!
Really cool experience! We had Kari T, who was an excellent guide. I strongly suggest going on this trip!
Very recommendable tour with an extremely professional guide. We had plenty of time on the ice and we got the chance to go into an ice cave. Our guide Keri provided lots of good info about the glaciers and he was very attentive and considerate towards towards the needs of all the guests on the tour.
Brilliant guide with a nice sense of humor! Highly recommended. Kari is very experienced and knows the best spots.
This tour was amazing! The blue ice cave and glacier walk were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. Our guide, Kari Timsson, was fantastic—funny, personable, and informative. I would recommend this tour to everyone!
