This was a blast! Got to ride in a massive jeep that took us to the glacier. We walked across the glacier and went to multiple ice caves. Our guide Valentiñ was amazing!

Amazing experience! Our guide was great, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! I would highly recommend this to everyone
Our driver and snowmobile guides were great! However once we boarded and got down the road the driver informed us that the ice caves were not going to be open that day, which was a huge disappointment as that was one of the main things we wanted to see in Iceland. On top of that, a vehicle got stuck which delayed our return significantly and the other activities we had planned for the day had to be canceled. The snowmobile activity was okay, it was slow going. I would have expected a partial refund of our 5 tickets for the ice caves not being open and for the delayed return, but there was no manager there to speak to.
This excursion is very remote and also be aware that travel conditions by road can be unpredictable. Our family did not feel safe traveling the distance with 50 km/h winds and widespread road closures. We were in contact and felt confident that any reasonable person would understand the situation, however we were unable to cancel due to “24 hour policy”. That’s BS. Try a different tour group, no refund $1000 down the toilet. Thanks for nothing.
Tour was delayed due to weather but they took us as soon as it cleared. Awesome experience. 5 caves. Great knowledge.
We did a glacier tour yesterday and it was truly unforgettable. Our guide was incredibly accommodating with our family, especially with our two kids (ages 5 and 8), which made a big difference. Shout out to “Benny” for the knowledge facts and tour! It was described as a “picture perfect” day—and while the views absolutely lived up to that, the winds and elements were still intense. This is definitely not a casual զբ stroll; as they reminded us beforehand, this isn’t Disney. Staying close to your kids and being prepared for real conditions is important. That said, for adventure-loving, well-behaved kids who don’t mind a bit of a hike, this experience is beyond worth it. Seeing the glacier up close was breathtaking and honestly life-changing. One of those moments we’ll be talking about for years.
It’s the perfect amount of time to explode some ice caves! I think anything longer than that would’ve been too much. Our tour guide was amazing as well. I’d highly recommend this tour if you wanna check out some ice caves and don’t have as much time.
What a great trip! We had the pleasure of going on a tour with Ingo (nick name I believe) and it was a great time. With all honesty, the ice caves are very dependent on the weather, global warming, time of year, and other factors. Going in winter, the weather is colder and some caves will form in this but warmer days may result in smaller caves, due to melting and safety. Glaciers are melting at an alarming rate, these caves and tunnels are changing every day. It is still an amazing experience to see these glacier, walk on them, learn about them and see these huge walls and tunnels that are around. For them to be blue, the weather must be cold so please understand your expectations and also realistically what is possible during your trip. It is a fantastic tour and don’t think that just because it’s not Instagram perfect, it is not something to appreciate and witness.
Make sure you get there early. It can be confusing to find your guide as all the operators are in one place. Our guide Mary was absolutely amazing.
This is an incredible experience! The jeep ride is 30 minutes long and it’s rocky so if you’ve not driven F Roads in Iceland this will be a shock to you. They provide crampons & helmets for your safety but you’ll need to wrap up warm because it gets very cold - especially in your fingers and toes. The wind is brutal and ash will blow into your eyes so I’d advise some sunglasses as well. Our tour guide Lisa was so nice & had a great sense of humour, she taught us about the glaciers & ice caves and recommended the Diamond Beach (which we were planning to go to anyway). She also answered all of our questions. The sad news is, there’s not many of the ice caves left so if you can I highly recommend this before they all vanish forever! There’s lots of opportunities for cool pictures and we crawled through the ice tunnels. When we got back to the jeep it had lost power, Lisa made sure we all got inside to keep warm and she contacted her team. They were there within minutes and we were back up and running in less than 10 minutes. Once in a lifetime opportunity - you don’t want to miss out!
Very neat, cold experience. Wear something over your face and hand warmers really help. Very nice guide but a little crowded
We had a weather issue the day before that cause to ask company to reschedule tour to caves. They first said they had to wait till 9 am day of tour to consider any refund even though they new roads were closed. I ask maybe the consider us coming in for afternoon tour, they acepted that . But the were very apprehensive to work with us at all at beginning. End of day we did tour but did like the approach company had upon weather with road closures!
Such a great time! So amazing to see 8000year old ice with ash in it! The views surrounding were spectacular, too! Highly recommended for adults and kids!
We had gone on this before and loved it even more the second time around. Great tour guide! He was very friendly and informative. Iceland 🇮🇸 is wonderful and has so much beauty! Would recommend this tour to anyone!
Terrible experience: the morning tour was, first, moved to afternoon one and eventually cancelled due to weather conditions. Lost many hours of my life - travelling and then waiting for decisions. And I wouldn't mind - weather in Iceland can be tricky. But troll.is charges me 3% anyways - even if they cancel the trip. We've had a group of 7 + the trip is rather expensive. This makes a significant cost which I find clearly unfair and poorly justified.
Pick up was seamless, our driver/guide was very knowledgeable and showed great hospitality. He was very warm and had a great sense of humor. We had a medium sized group of different nationalities in a good sized Ford super van. They give you the appropriate equipment to be able to walk on the ice with no issues. We had a great time going to the cave and took lots of wonderful photos. This was certainly one of our big adventures as a couple and had a great experience. We even got a sneak chance to walk on the mossy ground as a quick photo opportunity while our tires were inflating. Overall would highly recommend this experience to anyone. The caves and the landscape change every single day and season and you will never get the same experience twice.
We signed up for the Crystal Blue Ice Cave tour. Once we finally found were to check in (there are 0 Tröll signs or vehicles) we packed 14 people in a super Jeep cargo van. Then were informed that, oh we are going to a black cave. There is no blue crystal cave. Ummm WHAT. We could have tried to exited and not gone but sounded like the tour guide was pulling our strings. What sort of company advertises for Blue blue blue ice caves and when show up it’s black and covered in ash and clay. So we go and 30 minutes and the roughest ride ever we get to the spot. Then have to walk 1 mile over rough rocks and ice. There’s a ton of groups and the cave is dark and black. Huge disappointment. Had to walk a mile back to the car. Your guide was great and friendly. If it’s bad time of year for blue ice, make it known to the customers way advance. This is way too expensive to be a black dirty cave tour.
The best experience ever! Such a breath taking place. The tour guy Iskern was very funny and informative. This is a one lifetime expirence!
This was an amazing tour! The ice caves are beautiful and a truly unique experience. Angelica was an amazing guide that taught us a lot!
It was a very adventurous trip. We traveled on a very bumpy road in a large jeep for about 40 minutes to get to the cave , then we hiked up for about 30 minutes to get to the cave entrance . We explored the amazing dark colorful ice cave for about one hour hiking on a rocky path sometimes steep . There were many tour groups but our guide was great. He made sure we were all safe and together and took our group pictures. He was very knowledgeable and funny. You need to be able to endure the darkness and in shape to hike the steep path and to keep up with the group. It was a very adventurous tour and we loved it.
Amazing tour! Our guide was so funny and kind. He helped us see so much of the caves and even helped everyone take amazing photos. He was great with my kid and made opportunities to interact with everyone!
this is absolutely amazing! we went to the sparkle cave and our tour guide Angelica was a wealth of knowledge! I highly recommend this tour. Also, the location you meet the tour is next to the glacier lagoon and diamond beach which are breathtaking.
Sparkle Cave was amazing! And Angelica was a wonderful guide. So much more than we were expecting from our tour!
The guide was nice, he help us to take the best pictures, the cave was litter that we expect, but beautiful.
We were definitely expecting to go into or onto the actual glacier, cause that’s how it sounded in the description. In the end we were in an ice cave that is dead ice, so ice that broke of the glacier 25 years ago. We were not really close to the active glacier. The ice cave itself was of course beautiful and fascinating and really special. But even if your group is only 10-14 people, there were at least 5 other groups in the cave as well, so it was really crowded. The host was really nice and the super-Jeep ride bumpy but fun.
Unbelievable experience! Mr B is a fantastic, kind and knowledgeable guide. So patient with everyone and made the experience fantastic! A highlight for sure of our trip!
It was amazing! The cave was beautiful and our guide helped show us how to get the best pictures inside it. We learned a lot about the glacier nearby and even got to walk that as well.
Great tour. A lot of people sign up and they send them out in groups of about 14. Our guide was “Me P”. He really made the trip enjoyable. The caves themselves are unbelievable and nearly indescribable. Not to be missed.
The cave was beautiful! Our tour guide said it’s not your average ice cave, but longer and more extensive than is typical. We don’t know any different of course but it was indeed impressive, exactly what I had hoped for when I booked an ice cave tour. She said the national park may allow tours of the cave only until about mid April (2025) when the caves become unsafe due to melting and close for the season. The tour itself was efficient, the guide (Angelika) was very nice and knowledgeable and happily took good photos of participants, as many as you wanted. Fantastic experience!
Johann was a great guide. He was funny, entertaining, kind, and safety conscious. He made the trip fun
Firstly, having been provided with a meeting location by your team this was not the correct meeting location. Furthermore, nobody from your company contacted us to inform us about the change in meeting point or came to check the location that was provided to check if people were there. I am confident we were at the correct meeting point due to other guests being with us (also confused) and the fact that when we found the new meeting point the operator acknowledged that they had moved the meeting point. To add to this when we called the help desk they confirmed that we were in the correct location and stated the operator had just rang to say they were on their way and running late. Luckily another guest was called by your team later and informed that the start point had moved. That was quite lucky as I was not granted that courtesy. Following the confusion above we moved to the new carpark and I was relieved to see a Tröll minibus. I went over to the minibus and knocked on the window. As a result of this instead of helping your driver started yelling at me. I honestly couldn’t believe that somebody working for a tourist operation was speaking to somebody like that. As a representative of your company it was disgusting. I sent this to the team at troll and they said they would look into and get back to me and just ignored it.
A great experience. Beautiful ice cave with good photo opportunities. May have some difficulty if you have back issues or difficulty walking on uneven terrain. Guide was very helpful.
Our guide was excellent. We had to be rescheduled due to bad weather so it made it very crowded when we went back the following day. It was slightly disappointing as it was a lot of standing around but our guide was funny and calm and good at answering questions from the kids. You can’t replicate the experience and the view just anywhere so I recommend it.
Johan was AMAZING! After we finished in the ice cave, he took us out on the glacier. He was a lot of fun, knowledgeable and very patient.
Absolutely amazing, and if you get Mr. P also entertaining. You do need to be able to walk on uneven ground, climb up and down rocky paths, handle icy spots, and there are places where you need to almost crawl. I wouldn't recommend it for any over 60 unless really fit, or pregnant women after about 6 months, or anyone with claustrophobia. Perfect for families with kids. There's also the (free) lagoon FILLED with icebergs you can walk right up to, and Diamond Beach (also free) where the clear ice chunks that line the beach can be picked up and had fun with (also great for pictures). Keep in mind that the ice caves change regularly because of summer melting, so the one I'm reviewing may not be the one you experience.
It's an absolutely amazing experience! I am not much fond of caves, but this cave was something incredible! So beautiful! The guide told us that this cave had been discovered not too long before, and was larger and more spectacular than the previous one. And the tour itself was quite efficiently organized, everything was just on time. We had to wait outside to enter the cave, and it can be quite a long waiting time, and if it's windy and really cold, it could be very unpleasant. So it's better to check the forecast and have some warm clothes with you. We were lucky with the weather, it was warm and calm, and the views of the surroundings were beautiful. I definitely recommend this tour!
Great tour of a nee ice cave - our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful. He was willing to take time and treat everyone with kindness and courtesy.
Amazing tour with incredible views from within the cave. The tour guide (Beni) was friendly, knowledgeable, and made both the experience and the journey enjoyable. I'd recommend this trip to anyone hoping to see some of the beautiful views from within an ice cave without hesitation!
The ice cave tour was beautiful, our guide was very nice and fun! We unfortunately couldn't hear him talking on the ride to the cave from the back seat but that didn’t spoil our trip.
The cave itself was incredible. It was very blue and large, just like we expected from photos of other peoples experiences. Our tour guide, AJ, made the experience even better. He was very informative, entertaining, passionate, and funny. He made sure everyone got great photos, learned about the history/geology of the area, and gave us plenty of time in the cave. Comparing our experience to those with other guides that we past, we really feel like AJ elevated our tour experience.
Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The ice cave experience was once in a lifetime. We learned a lot from our guide about glaciers and the area’s history.
Johan was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide that had a major emphasis on safety. He shared facts and history about the glaciers and threw in a few jokes that made the experience memorable. This was my first time in Iceland and he made it worthwhile.
My 35 year old son and I did this trip run by Trolls from Jokulsarlon, we were really looking forward to this trip..it was going to be our highlight of our holiday. My son is into his caving big time in the UK ..he belongs to various caving clubs and cave rescue etc..so we were really looking forward to this trip. Our guide was really good, but the trip was such a let down. We got to the icefield had to put our gear on and then we had a very long walk up the icefield..we got to the ice cave..where there were so many other groups waiting to go into this really small ice cave. The ice cave is not the same as on the Trolls advertising literature for this visit..the cave that we visited was really tiny..not worth the long walk up the icefield..we had some people in our group that were not very fit and we were starting to get worried about them also. They are trying to cram too many people into this small cave at a time..it should be limited to a certain amount of people visiting this small cave per day . We would not recommend this trip, it was a waste of our money and our time.
My wife and I did this tour in October, and it was the highlight of our Iceland trip. Our tour guide was great and knowledgeable of everything from the geography to the local history. Hike up the glacier was easy for us, but we are experienced hikers. The guide was good about keeping an eye on the people who struggled. The caves were absolutely stunning. The best way to describe them was like being in a giant mirror maze because they were so clear. Meeting point was a little confusing to find, so get there early. If your interested in hiking and seeing Icelands natural beauty this is a must for nature Lovers.
It was an incredible experience. Our guide Orri was knowledgeable and friendly, furthermore he gave some great suggestions for places nearby to see. After climbing the glacier the view is incredible as well as in the cave.
I came here as a solo traveler and my tour guide Orri took all of my videos for me. I’ve never done anything like this before taking a small hike into an underground ice cave. This was definitely an experience and be sure to wear proper shoes there are lots of works all over the ground.
This tour is not worth the money, we had 13 people in our group and spent more time standing in the dark (headlamps off) waiting for other groups (4 others in total) to move through the cave. The tour started by one of our Travellers being berated (by the person checking everyone in) for using the step to enter the super jeep (very high step and no handle to assist with hop up) We were not given the option for the difficulty of hike we would like (as our tour guide was told by the head person what tour to place us on). The cave was crowded, and a hazard as we had to have our headlamps off whilst other groups moved through. The experience was not worth the money, they are all about making money and don't care about the experience. Our Tour Guide Orri was wonderful, he was the best part of the tour. Not worth the money.
Don’t waste your money on this. No blue ice as depicted on the website. No choice as to what walk to do. We were judged on our age & went to a small cave that was dreadfully overcrowded with other tour groups and most of the time spent waiting for others to pass. Lovely guide Orri but a rude, condescending & arrogant organiser at the start of the tour. This company cares only about money & not the customers.
It’s a scam…don’t waste your money, time and energy.. We were taken on the bus ride and on the foothill informed that the cave is unsafe n closed and we could go and click photos of the blue ice but can’t go inside. It is an uphill trek with a little blue ice…there were groups which were taken showing the blue ice at the cave opening. Totally not worth it.. Were the company not aware of the cave being closed before we left? There was no intimation before we boarded the bus. If the cave was unsafe n closed should we not be informed in advance n money refunded? Don’t fall for it…it’s a scam to take money.
Three star for the tour guide who was really friendly and knowledgeable. However, we didn’t stay in the cave long and there was a guide from another tour that was rude to use to get out of the cave soon. It was very rushed, and expected to stay longer for such an expensive tour. Overall I don’t think it’s worth the price of £125.
