Blue Ice Discovery – Guided Glacier Hike From Skaftafell

Everything from the start to finish was great. After a professional preparation and safety talk we jumped into a bus. The bus ride itself was wow adventurous! After about 20 minutes we reached the glacier. Our guide PRZEMYSLAV ADAM did a remarkable job. Everyone felt included and cared for even though our group was quite varied in terms of age and skills. His kind and energetic demeanour was definitely a great addon to stunning views. Jaejae! 10/10

We did the Blue Ice Experience in Skaftafell on October 28 (2:30pm) with my mum, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip, mostly thanks to our guide Przemek. He explained everything so well (how the glacier forms, why the ice is blue, how it moves) and he's really funny, we laughed a lot. He took us to spots we would never have seen on our own and always took time so we could enjoy and take pictures. He was super caring with everyone, my mum had never walked with crampons and he helped and reassured her the whole way. We always felt safe. Przemek Jezierski ( Przemyslav) aka Poland was our tour guide on October 19 2026 for the Blue Ice Experience he was a amazing guide with perfect English teaching a large group how to apply hiking boot spikes so we could safely travel across the glacier ice. He was extremely informative on how to be safe during the tour and the history behind the glacier. He was very passionate about protecting the ecosystem so many generations can hopefully view the same beautiful glacier we saw today. Przemek Jezierski ( Przemyslav) aka Poland Had all of us laughing the entire tour with fun relatable facts to help us learn and be safe at the same time the humor really kept us all engaged He would be an excellent guide on any excursion. Icelandic mountain guides if your reading this promote this man he knows what he is doing from communication to demonstration he gets 5 stars from me !

We had the tour booked for a Wednesday. But due to a major storm it got cancelled, the team made it right and rescheduled us for one the very next day and was very helpful with the process! We then had a tour with Przemyslav/Poland. It was fantastic! He was very informative about how glaciers work and many different facts about the specific glacier we were on. He took us to see beautiful scenes, amazing crevasses, and lastly a huge hole that we safely dangled over with ropes secured to the ice! Really glad we did this tour! The staff was great, our tour guide was great, and the Glacier was amazing. Would strongly recommend for everyone to go!

We joined a glacier walk tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides, and it was such an amazing experience! Our guide, Mr. Przemyslav, was excellent! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience both fun and educational. He shared so much with us — from the history of Iceland and how the glaciers were formed to many interesting and fun facts about the glacier along the way. THE TOURS START BEFORE THE ADVERTISED MEETING TIME. We booked a glacier hike in Skatafell and arrived at the advertised time at 9:00. However, by that time the group was already gone! When a representative came back to the tent, they said they start prepping people 20 minutes before and then leave as soon as everyone is ready. IF YOU DON'T COME EARLY, YOU WON'T GO. In the footnotes of the ticket, it says "Please arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled time." This makes it look like a buffer to find the location, not a scheduled requirement that the customer needs to be there 20 minutes before the experience starts. In our case, we did not see it. This is a very easy thing to overlook. They should just say 8:40 on the ticket to avoid confusion. I am sure the tour company may respond saying this is standard operating procedure for them. As my standard operating procedure, I feel it is my duty to inform others of this issue and complain, as I lost money through it. Many people have complained on Google Reviews about this issue. They really need to be more logical with their start times, as this is highly error-prone. I am sure this sentence: "Please arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled time" is not saving anyone. I am assuming their customers naturally arrived early for the tour. We booked through Viator and received no prior messages warning the start time (just the footnote). Arctic Adventures, which we had to go with afterwards, doesn't operate this way.

Enjoyed the hike with Mr Bartholomew. He is very informative and knowledgeable… he showed us the moulins of the glacier. We missed our 9 am hike but they were able to reschedule us for the 2:30 pm hike. 😃

We had a wonderful time during the Blue Ice Experience hike. Our guides Elena and Slav were knowledgeable about the glacier’s landscape and history, were very engaging and helpful and most importantly kept us all safe. The pick up spot is easy to find and getting checked in was simple. The bus ride to the start of the hike is not super long and isn’t too bumpy although you will go off road for a short bit. Make sure you have high boots or you’ll need to rent a pair which wasn’t expensive. Also make sure to wear water proof clothes and dress warmer than you are in town, you’re on ice after all. Lastly if your group gets split between two guides peak at who is in which group. Our group was a bit slowed by some less able bodied individuals so we did not hike as far into the glacier as some other groups. All in all it’s an amazing experience and I highly recommend this tour operator and Elena and Slav specifically! Note to operator: send Elena and Slav to ICE-SAR training, they deserve the experience!

Our tour with Jezierek was perfect; his passion for his profession made the four-hour tour fly by—we could have happily listened to him all day long. We enjoyed it not only for the beautiful surroundings but also for the wealth of information he shared and everything we learned. The €95/person we paid was well worth it. Thank you, Jezierek!

Don’t miss out on this experience! Our guide, Ellie, was amazing! It appears that each guide gets to pick the route they will take on the glacier depending on the glacier conditions and abilities of the group, and she gave us quite an experience. She carefully scoped out locations, introduced us to using the rope to both go up and down steep terrain (seriously not scary) and stopped to take pictures of us at beautiful locations. We covered a lot of the glacier - she kept us moving at a great pace. Her breadth of knowledge was amazing and she was super friendly. The company takes safety very seriously - be sure to arrive plenty early to get fitted for safety gear. BTW - my husband and I are 62 & 57.

THE EXPERIENCE BEGINS 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE MEETING TIME. If you come at the time listed on the ticket you will not go on the tour. Just FYI. There is no advance warnings. Only a small section in additional info asking you to "Please arrive 20 minutes early". This should be considered malpractice. When we arrived on the dot, the tour was already gone. The tour company will simply shrug if you ask them why they don't advertise 8:30 or 8:40 when the time advertised is 9:00.

Przemyslav was awesome showing us through the glacier’s unique terrain and teaching the glacier’a history.

This was a once in a lifetime experience! It was my husband and I's first time climbing a glacier and using ice gear and we had a blast. We felt so safe and supported with our guide Naren, who had 25 years of climbing experience and has summited 14 peaks around the world. Couldn't have asked for a more experienced guide who also gave us tons of information about Iceland with lots of humor mixed in as well. We had multiple people with varying degrees of physical ability in our group and everyone was supported throughout the climbing. This tour is not to be missed!

The perfect adventure when you are in Iceland! We were taught how to walk and climb with crampons and also how to use the ice axe. Our guide Jezierek had so much knowledge about the glaciers and also gave us many laughs along the way. He really created a great ambience in the group and we enjoyed every minute of it, especially going inside a crevasse! Next time we will come in the winter for the ice caves! I can really recommend this excursion; fun, adventurous but also educational.

This is the BEST glacier tour!! Our tour guide, Przemyslav, was extremely knowledgeable about the glacier, its origins and Icelandic culture. He took us on a unique route that allowed us to see different ice formations up close and cover a lot of ground, while teaching us how to safely traverse the ice. He’s also a great photographer! Beautiful, especially if on a day like ours - blue sky and little wind. Weather was the same on mountain as at base camp. The activity was easier than we thought it would be. Yon and the other guides were all helpful and terrific. Glad we did it as part of our 11 days in Iceland. I would, though, watch the weather for a good day.

Worth checking out. We did a three and a half hour visit to the falling glacier and learned much about the geology of the area. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable. We had six adults in our group along with about ten others and the trip was interesting and worthwhile. I recommend.
