Joanne was an amazing tour guide. This tour was well worth it. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Singapore on the first day of their trip. Joanne gave us a wealth of knowledge and provided just enough history to make what we saw on the tour meaningful. She tailored the tour to our interests and needs, as well as teaching us how to use the public transit. She even gave us places to see after the tour and kept in contact with us to make sure our stay continued to be smooth and enjoyable. If your coming to Singapore and want a great tour, ask for Joanne!

Itinerary
See the Lion City through the eyes of someone who lives and loves it—wandering mural-lined alleys, peaceful temples, and buzzing hawker centers. This isn’t just a tour; it’s a flexible, personalized experience shaped entirely around you. Before your walk, your host will reach out with a short questionnaire to understand your interests—whether you're passionate about food, architecture, or street culture. Here are some stops you might explore:
Wander through one of Singapore’s most characterful districts, where art deco design meets indie shops, leafy walkways, and neighborhood quietude. Your host will share how this area beautifully blends old and new.
Uncover the layers of Chinatown’s history—from clan houses and shophouses to tucked-away temples. Your host will connect past and present as you navigate its buzzing streets and hidden corners.
Explore the Malay-Muslim quarter, filled with bold street art, vibrant textiles, and cultural heritage. Learn how this neighborhood shaped Singapore’s identity through stories of trade, religion, and community.
Step into one of the city’s most atmospheric enclaves. From flower garlands to vivid wall art and Hindu shrines, this district pulses with color, culture, and daily rituals.
Meander through elegant colonial lanes, quiet staircases, and heritage shophouses. This pocket of the city is ideal for slowing down and absorbing Singapore’s rich architectural past.

Our tour guide, David, provides us the best tour we have had in any city we have visited. We learned the history of Singapore, visited many of the cultural highlights, learned hour families in Singapore live day-to-day, and had some fabulous food—all in four hours. We now understand and appreciate the city in ways we never would have without this tour.
We had a great experience with our tour guide, Jack. He was very knowledgeable about the city, and took us to a lot of cool places. He also showed us some great food. He has a great personality, and I highly recommend City Unscripted.
My wife and I recently enjoyed a fantastic walking tour of Singapore with our local guide Stan. For context, we have traveled extensively to over 100 countries on all seven continents and use local guides in nearly every city that we visit. More often than not, the guides are excellent and embrace their city, country and knowledge of it. Stan is no exception and is among the finest guides that we have had the pleasure of touring with. He is extremely friendly, witty, very knowledgeable and proud of the magnificent city and country of Singapore. I personally engage guides with many questions as I am generally inquisitive about many subjects including history, politics, architecture, nature, food and local culture. Stan was packed with useful information and eager to share it in a friendly and informative manner. He allocated the right amount of time at each site and knew intuitively when to move along to the next site. I wholeheartedly endorse Stan as an excellent local guide and will be sure to share his name with family and friends who plan to visit Singapore…. Stan will make your experience in Singapore a great time….
Aaron was a great host and guide for our 4 hour tour. He was prompt, personable and worked with us on what wanted to do and see. Most important he gave us a great introduction to the subway system so we could go exploring the following day. He also provided guidance and suggestions for our post tour activity. We would highly recommend him!
Cheryl was AWESOME! GREAT HOST. Highly Recommended! She was patient and polite. I really appreciated her guidance and she was very knowledgeable.
Great half day spent around the main city centre attractions. Polina was a fantastic guide and we would highly recommend her.
Wonderful trip. Great way to see a huge amount of Singapore, that you couldn't do on foot. Definitely a workout, so need to be prepared for a solid bike ride. We had a lunch break in a China public market that I would have never discovered on my own. I joined the larger group alone, and was very welcomed. We had people from all over the word. Colin was a great guide!
Nice to get some context around the culture and history of the place we visited. Well paced tour tailored to things I was interested in.
Note: Almost all tours are walking or walking/subway. If you want a riding tour, you’d better search for one and be willing to pay high $. Our guide was on time and very well versed on Singapore history, customs, and important sites. We enjoyed a half day walking tour of the cñCentral Business District, the Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown and so much more. It was totally worth it, and the pictures we brought home were fantastic, too.
Our guide was very sweet and respectful. He showed a ton of interesting places and was very knowledge about Singapore.
Jimmy was a great guide for my tour of Singapore. He has an in depth knowledge of Singapore's history and I learnt a lot from him. I would highly recommend him.
After an email exchange about our interests, our tour guide Wahida took us on a guided tour of Little India and the Muslim quarter. She was very informative and personable. It was a great way to see the city. This is definitely the way to tour Singapore...
My host Priscilla was great. She explained everything so well and took me to all sort of places. Loved it. If you are going to Singapore and looking into doing private and personalized tour; you should contact city unscripted and see if you can have Priscilla give you the tour.
We booked a half-day tour to see Singapore through the eyes of a local resident . Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. He showed us his city and we spent a lovely few hours exploring this wonderful place.
Marian was our host. He gave us a fantastic experience. It was a great opportunity to see the city through the eyes of a local. As a result we were able to see a number of the non-tourist spots throughout the city. If you are up for walking and public transportation my wife and I would highly recommend City Unscripted. If you get Marian for your guide you will be in for a treat. Thank you.
Kenny, our local host, gave us a very informative and interesting 3-hours tour through Singapore's China Town. We went to places we would never have found on our own and learned a lot about history, culture and politics in earlier and modern Singapore. This was a great experience!
Our local host Nengyi was fantastic, showing my brother (9 y.o.) and I around Singapore’s Tiong Bahru area, with a wealth of local insight. Not only did he share his knowledge on the history and culture of Tiong Bahru, the experience was interactive, and we had the chance to order food and express ourselves the local way, weave through different housing complexes and markets to get a glimpse of everyday life in the bustling neighborhood. Definitely something that goes beyond the standard guide book - our first but certainly not our last City Unscripted experience. Really looking forward to exploring other cities!

This tour was disappointing actually. The host was nice enough but he arrived a few minutes late, didn't seem to have any plans, other than 1 temple. He had only been in Singapore himself around 3 years I was expecting a native or someone who had been living in Singapore 10 years or more. He didn't really seem to know a lot about Singapore generally. For example he thought the population was around 2 1/2 million It's more like 5 1/2 million Will book an actual tour guide next time.

Janice took us (family with two children, 13 and 11) behind the scenes of Singapore. We saw quiet streets with Chinese character, visited Chinatown, Little India and Little Arabia. Everywhere Janice knew how to tell exciting and funny stories, so time flew by. Also the restaurant that Janice recommended to us at the end was great class. We can highly recommend this tour.
