A brilliant tour to introduce you to all things Singapore. Our guide Pam was a wonderful balance of fact and fun as she walked us through the city and its rich history. We crammed so much into 4.5 hours - a bumboat trip, a bus ride, rooftop terraces we’d never think to access, food at a traditional hawker centre AND a tea appreciation experience. Would thoroughly recommend both Pam and this tour for an introduction to Singaporean life!

From Singapore's history to the current housing system, Pam explained things very clearly and answered many questions that I had. I was surprised to learn certain things, including what most locals have in their homes, but I won't divulge that here. You'll have to take the tour yourself to find out. All in all a great experience for someone who wants to learn about Singapore.
A most informative tour with our guide Nazir Yusof - Resident Historian at Raffels Hotel Singapore. Nazir's enthusiasm and depth of knowledge kept me glued to all he had to tell us, the tiger under the billiard table, the various extensions to the building etc. He is a gifted story teller and so passionate about his subject. It felt special to be taken into areas that required a pass key to enter. We saw photographs of dignitaries and Royalty who were past guests and heard how the hotels silverware was buried in the gardens as the Japanese Army was invading. I highly reccomend this tour which I booked on the hotels website. We made a full day of all things Raffels, taking High Tea in the Grand Lobby where we were welcomed with a flute of champagne and offered a choice of hot beverages to enjoy with a decadent choice of savoury and sweet delights. And a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar rounded out our wonderful day at Raffels.
We had a wonderful tour! Richard was an amazing guide. So knowledgeable and helpful. We have been to Singapore many times but this tour gave us so many new experiences. There was a lot of walking but so worth it!!!!
It was a wonderful experience. Pam was the perfect guide. The tour was everything we expected & more. Highly recommend it.in
We joined the Singapore history and culture tour and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We started at St Andrew’s Cathedral, where Gene our guide gave us a great introduction to how Singapore began and the people behind its early days. From there, each stop added a bit more to the story. At the National Gallery, we enjoyed the views and learned about the building’s past, including its role during WWII. Walking past the Parliament buildings and along the Singapore River, Gene shared interesting insights about the country’s laws, trade history and how the city developed. He also pointed out great photography spots along the way and gave helpful tips on capturing the best angles and lighting. This tour is especially great for photographers, with plenty of scenic locations that you wouldnt ordinarily disvoer by yourself. The river cruise was a nice change of pace and gave us a different view of the city. We also stopped by the Merlion and learned a bit about its meaning, while having time to take some memorable photos. One of the highlights was visiting Pinnacle @ Duxton. The views from the top were fantastic, and it was interesting to hear about Singapore’s housing system and how it has evolved. It was also a perfect spot for shots of the city skyline. Dinner at Maxwell Hawker Centre was simple and really enjoyable. We tried some classic local dishes and it felt like a genuine experience rather than something overly touristy. We ended the evening at Tea House, where we learned about Chinese tea traditions in a relaxed setting. Gene is a great guide, knowledgeable, easy to listen to and clearly passionate about Singapore. He made everything easy to understand, and kept things engaging throughout. If you’re looking for a relaxed way to learn about Singapore, see a mix of well-known and lesser-known spots, capture great photos, and enjoy some good local food, this tour is a great choice.
Our guide was terrific, teaching about Singapore’s past and present.
Pam is a very knowledgeable, interesting and personable guide who provided both historical and current details about Singapore. We saw St Andrew's Cathedral, the National Gallery Singapore (in the former Town Hall and Supreme Court Building) and were delighted in the spectacular views of the Padang and Marina Bay from Level 5. Next was Merlion Park where we caught a boat from Marina Bay to see the many beautiful sights along the expansive waterfront and the Singapore River. We caught a bus to Pinnacles @ Duxton, where Pam informed us of how the public housing system works. We then walked to Maxwell Food Centre, for Hainanese chicken rice, and a sugarcane juice. Pam also introduced us to Asian donuts; all three were delicious. To conclude our tour, we enjoyed a traditional Chinese tea appreciation at the Tea Chapter (where Queen Elizabeth ll had also done the same). Highly recommend this tour.
We really enjoyed this walking and boat tour. Gee Soo was our tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about Singapore and he took good care of us during the tour. If he's your guide, you're in good hands! We wanted to get an overview of Singapore history and culture, and this tour was perfect for that. We learned a lot from Gee Soo, and we got to see Singapore at both sea level and 50 stories in the air!
Did a great walking tour with Gene D’Castro from Hello Tours including boat ride & city bus. He was very knowledgeable on Singapore history and even recapped our tour when we finished up at the Tea Rooms in Chinatown. Very friendly, personable guide with a sense of humour which made our afternoon most enjoyable.
This was a truly magical experience. We try to do a walking first when we arrive at any new city and this tour exceeded all expectations. We were fully orientated as a result of this experience. Pam was our guide and she was knowledgeable, funny, approachable and so enthusiastic about Singapore and the tour experience that she was offering. She really cared that the tour was a success for us. We visited places we would never have found on our own. Tried food we would never have been brave enough to without an experienced local to show us the best places. Our itinerary was “We started the tour at City Hall MRT Station. We made a brief stop at St Andrew's Cathedral. Next up was the National Gallery Singapore, where you had the million-dollar view while I gave a quick rundown of our history. We walked to Merlion Park and sailed away from Marina Bay into the Singapore River. Next, we took a bus to Pinnacles @ Duxton, where you learned about how our public housing system works, and we enjoyed the view of the city from above. Then we journeyed to Maxwell Food Centre, where you had fried rice, sugarcane juice and also my childhood snack. Lastly, we enjoyed the traditional Chinese tea appreciation at the Tea Chapter.“ Pam took a few photos of us as we toured and was good enough to take the time to share them after the visit. We learned so much about the key sights, the history, the culture and the people of Singapore past and present. We got to experience walking around the best places, a boat trip and a bus journey all in the capable hands of a fantastic local guide. Really cannot praise this tour highly enough. And the street food and tea ceremony were both excellent (and I don’t like tea usually)! Start your Singapore experience the best way and book this tour!
Had a great tour with Pamela. We learned a lot about the culture and life in Singapore. We covered a lot of territory and had some wonderful experiences as part of the tour. Highly recommend Pamela for the tour.
Our tour guide Kavin truly made this tour so memorable and exciting. We had an incredible experience and the long tour really felt like it flew by just because there was always something to look at and learn. We had so many questions and Kavin was able to answer all of them, as well as learn about us and how Singapore compared. It was an overall amazing experience and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. The only regret is that we didn't schedule it on our first day in the city as it was a great introduction to Singapore. Thanks Kavin!
A great time! Kavin is knowledgeable, entertaining and accommodating. We got a local’s presentation of the city’s history and present. The dinner and tea service were engaging and new to us. Highly recommended. Time well spent.
Pamela conducted an excellent tour. She struck the right balance of history, social context and current day events. We walked a lot, learned a lot and had a great time. I would do this tour again and would highly recommend that everyone do it while in Singapore.
Our history and culture walking tour was excellent. Pamela was our guide, and she was fun, knowledgeable, and very helpful with every topic. We had no trouble with the amount of walking, because Pam kept the pace just right. We thoroughly enjoyed the sights, the historical/cultural narrative, and the food. Topping off the evening was a lovely and interesting tea ceremony!
My wife and I did the 4.5 hour small group history and culture tour with river cruise, dinner and tea ceremony experience with Kavin as our guide and we had such an awesome time with him. He was very friendly and also catered to our needs. He provided us handheld fans as it was a bit hot and gave us plenty of opportunities for refilling our water bottles (or purchasing them if we didn't have one) and toilet breaks. Not only was he very informative but he was also interested in what we had to say. At the end of the tour he made sure that we all got back to where we needed to go. This experience is definitely worth having a go and if you're lucky enough to have Kavin as your guide you're gonna have a great time.
Kavin and our group had a magical tour through Singapore. The tour stops were very interesting and were very well laid out. Kavin gave us informative commentary and always made sure we were safe and comfortable. I highly recommend this tour to anybody-the highlight for me was the boat ride, skyline view and the tea ceremony.
KAVIN was exceptional and energetic! So knowledgeable and so accommodating. He was always ready and eager to answer any questions from the group and kept us really informed about Singapore culture, architecture, history and just so much more. You can feel his pride not only for his job but pride for his country. He did a fantastic job keeping us together and serving us our Hainan chicken dinner and drinks. He truly made us feel welcomed like a friend visiting. If you’re ever visiting please request Kavin as your guide, you will leave feeling so much smarter about Singapore.
Thank you Pam, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour and learnt a lot about the history and culture of your lovely "little" island. You were a fantastic tour guide, cheerful, informative and caring. We would definitely recommend this tour to get a snapshot of Singapore. Deb, Andrew and Declan
This walking tour was a great way to see the sights of Singapore. Our guide Kavin was really interesting and very knowledgeable of Singapore history. The walking pace was good (not too fast) and we had many opportunities to take photos from good vantage points. The river boat ride was very relaxing and enjoyable but my favourite was the tea ceremony at the end. Kavin did a great job organising tickets, transport and food along the way for a very smooth experience. We had a great time and would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Singapore.
If you want to experience what Singapore is really like and get away from the fancy hotels and restaurants, this is the tour. Our guide Richard for the day was fantastic, he has a real passion for Singapore and its history. The highlight for the day was the tea drinking ceremony, so peaceful. Chicken and rice for dinner was delicious too. Absolutely great afternoon exploring Singapore. Thank you Richard for your kindness.
We learnt about the real Singapore. It’s history, structure, and direction for the future. While getting to go to places a tourist wouldn’t normally see. The landmarks, culture and pride are all on show
Pam is a wonderful guide, warm, fun and knowledgeable. We had such fun and learned so much about Singapore. Absolutely recommend this tour.
This tour is well worth the 4.5 hour investment. Our guide Gee is a Singapore resident, knowledgeable about the city he loves and keen to share with the group. The sites we visited were interesting and often an experience not easily thought of by an outsider tourist. Culturally and historically an excellent half day.
The tour was just what we needed to orientate ourselves with Singapore. But what we got was far more then than we had anticipated. What we got was a personal tour, one that went beyond “tourist”. There were elements to the tour that we ourselves would never experience without it.
Absolutely enjoyed the History and Culture walking tour of Singapore with Kavin. He knows his stuff, answered all our questions and even took photos of us gave us some insider tips. I loved the many views of the city from the boat ride and walk, and the Chinese tea ceremony was a personal highlight - it felt special getting to experience the Queen’s room. A great start to any visit and getting your bearings in Singapore. Absolutely recommend!
The tour went really well. Kevin was our tour guide and aside answering all our questions, and showing us around, he is also a very personable tour guide. He came prepared with an electric fan, cooling spray and others, which was very handy. Kevin was already good at answering our questions, and by the end of the tour, we had a good sense of Singapore's history, current trends, and where the country is headed. It might have taken us days to figure all this out but we easily got the essence of the town in a few hours. I highly recommend Kevin and Hello Tours, and would definitely do this tour again with Kevin.
Had a great time, Kavin is a good your guide, he is really friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the route he had planned for us, especially the boat tour and looking out over Singapore from the top of a public house
Thoroughly enjoyed our history and culture tour, including dinner at Maxwell Food Centre and Traditional Tea experience. Our guide Kavin could not have been better, thorough, knowledgable and attentive to our requirements. We enjoyed getting to know the history of Singapore, and visited some of the historic sites, including St Andrews Cathedral, City hall (National Gallery) and the highlight being Pinnacle @ Duxton, the 50 storey public housing complex with unrivalled views of the city, islands and Indonesia from the roof top. Would highly recommend this tour. Plenty of walking, but not strenuous, and a relaxing river cruise to boot.
Fantastic tour. Walking, boat ride, Hawkers dinner and tea ceremony were a really great way to be exposed to the culture and history of Singapore by a local.
It was wonderful 🙏🏼. Thank you, Gee! We had such a great time. Gee leaded us on this tour with patience and he had so many interesting facts about Singapore. Underlining that with historical knowledge and even photos. He also took pictures of us and fulfilled our expectations as tourists. We got lovely memory photos. Thank you again, Gee! I’ll definitely recommend this tour! Go have fun and enjoy Singapore. See you there soon🤗.
Kavin was a fantastic guide that was very knowledgeable on all sites visited and cultures experience. if you get the chance to choose your guide I would highly recommend Kavin.
Kavin was an enthusiastic guide for our family. We learned a lot and the kids (ages 10 / 14h) were engaged the whole time. We appreciated the small group setting and the chance to learn about the history of Singapore.
I definitely saw aspects of Singapore that I would not normally have been able to experience. The rooftop views of the city were something special, and I particularly enjoyed the delicious dinner at the hawkers market and the tea tasting which ended our evening. Walking with our guide, Pamela, was like hanging out with a girlfriend who was showing you her favorite places. She knew her stuff, but I never felt like I was getting a lecture; it was more like chatting with a friend and, as a result, this was among the most pleasant city tours I've ever been on.
Gee Soo is an excellent tour guide who gives himself completely to his endeavors! We learned snd gained a lot of knowledge about the Colonial history of Singapore from the five hours tour we did with him. He is extremely kind and courteous and we truly enjoyed the time we spent with him.
A wonderful variety of experiences wrapped into a single tour! Ours was supposed to be a small group tour but ended up being a private tour. Our guide Pamela was approachable and informative - I felt like I could ask any question. Learned so much about life in Singapore in such a short time. Appreciated that the tour was pedagogically sound -- in there were recaps of what we experienced which helped sear them into lasting memory. I really want to do their food tour too, which has a distinct itinerary that includes the Katong District.
Our tour with Pam was great! The tour was just the right amount of time and our group felt like we really learned a lot about Singapore in the 4 1/2 hours. Our tour guide Pam was very knowledgeable and so friendly. I would highly recommend this tour!
Unique tour, good pace, plenty of interesting info on history etc. Tour guide Pam was awesome…knowledgable…great personality…just overall really good at what she does…book the tour and ask for her…
Kavin was an outstanding guide, showing his pride in Singapore. He provided us an overview of Singapore’s history, walking to many of the sites. He took us to the top of one of the skyscrapers for a spectacular view of the city. We took a nice boat tour, walked through Koreantown to Chinatown where we had dinner. Regrettably, we left the tour early because we were exhausted from our 2 1/2 weeks touring Thailand!
Fantastic afternoon exploring sights and experiencing a snapshot into Singaporean life. Pam was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Highly recommend.
This is an excellent, informative tour to take while you are in Singapore. Pam did a fantastic job of explaining the history of the country, and she took us to several interesting sights. The riverboat tour and the Hawker Centre were highlights. I suggest taking this tour early in your stay as it will provide an orientation to the country.
Rockstar Pam from hello singapore. It's was a very unique tour of singapore. The Storytelling and the off the beaten path tour is what made this special. Thanks Pam.
Pam did a fabulous job explaining the history of Singapore and show us the sights and sounds of the area. The food was great, the boat ride fun and the tea ceremony were very interesting. Wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking.
Pam did an excellent job showing us the highlights of Singapore featured on this trip. More importantly, she explained the history of Singapore in an enjoyable manner. We learned a lot and had a great deal of fun. Truly enjoyed the boat ride and tea ceremony.
Pam took us on a wonderful engaging and informative tour of Singapore/civic district, Clarke Quay ending in Chinatown where we ate at the famous chaotic hawker house and wrapped up with an elegant tea tasting. Pam clearly knows and loves the history and cultural of her city, taking us to viewing points and into neighborhoods we would not have known about and sharing the dynamics of the Singapore government and economy. The boat ride to the harbour area was delightful and the overall pace was efficient but not rushed. Highly recommend this tour and hope you get Pam as your guide!
Pam was very informative and enthusiastic informing the group with interesting stories and history of Singapore. We enjoyed our time touring the city with Pamela as our guide.
This was an excellent tour - I learnt so much about the history and culture of Singapore and got a really good understanding of how the different areas connect together by walking around. The river cruise gave great views of the architecture and the juxtaposition of old and new. Richard (the tour guide) was very knowledgeable and friendly.
I joined the Singapore history and culture tour and had a really good experience with Hello Singapore Tours. The tour overall gave a good insight into the history and culture of Singapore. I especially enjoyed the Singapore river cruise which took you down the Singapore river, passing by many historical landmarks and buildings. The chicken rice that we had at the Maxwell food centre was super yummy and I also enjoyed the tea tasting session at the Chinese tea house. Our guide Kavin was very knowledgeable and friendly, and he did a fantastic job introducing Singapore's history, culture and many landmarks.
wonderful stops!! Fabulous views of the city! A must tour for anyone visiting Singapore for the first time.
