We use guides a lot and can say that Rachel is top-notch. What stands out with Rachel is her commitment to providing a tour that appeals to individual clients - it's not regimented. She gages your interests early and adjusts; our tour ended up being as much cultural as cuisine. It was a very enriching tour and she's a very likable person.

We had 4 excellent days of touring with Culture Curious Singapore Tours … starting with an outstanding architectural tour which doubled as a great introduction to Singapore followed by a wonderful food tour, a cultural neighborhood tour, and finally a tour centered on WW II history in Singapore. We have had *many* tours around the world and I can say with confidence that these were some of the best. Not only are Rachel, Kelvin and Chris highly knowledgeable, they went above and beyond taking care of us with tips, links, taxi help, and much much more. We felt completely welcomed and comfortable with all of them, so not only did we learn what we came for, but we chatted about anything else that came up … from how real Singaporeans afford to live, to wedding customs, to durian tasting, to public transportation and so much more!!! Consummate professionals, Rachel and co personified gracious hospitality and joy in sharing their city and country with us. We would highly recommend Culture Curious to anyone.
The perfect way to familiarize yourself with the variety of cultures and exotic flavors which coexist within Singapore. Our guide Rachel was very engaging and knowledgeable and taught us so much about the history and traditions of Singapore. It was nice to "eat like a local" and visit the less touristy spots. Definitely recommended.
Amazing tour !! Kelvin was a gem !!! He taught us so much about Singapore…. Food, culture, infrastructure, people
Communication with the organiser, Rachel, was excellent, very timely and really helpful. Our guide Swee Lin ensured we had plenty to eat and gave us an in depth and very comprehensive history regarding Singapore adding personal touches regarding her own families background and also how modern Singapore compares to the past and how it has changed
Rachel was amazing - so knowledgeable and made sure we only ate the best food! In the end, we were so full that we had to put up the flag of defeat! Never happened to me before!!! Rachel was a 10 out of 10 as a guide…highly recommended!
Culture Curious and owner Rachel were a marvel! Deep insight into culture, history, architecture, and the Hawker markets — all delivered with high energy, efficiency and fun! Highly recommend !!
We were very lucky to have Mrs Rachel as our guide. She is an excellent guide , very knowledgeable and a charming personality, we learned a lot from her and we highly recommend her to any new visitor to Singapore that really wants to learn about .
The guide was very professional and friendly. He organized a great food experience and showed us interesting places. His knowledge of Singapore was very good, and he explained everything clearly. The tour was well planned and enjoyable, and I would happily recommend it to others
We had such a great experience with Rachel! She is a wonderful guide who is extremely knowledgeable about the food culture in Singapore and worked to ensure those of us with dietary restrictions had food choices. The tour was so much fun and we highly recommend!
Rachel is a delightful and knowledgeable guide. Not only does she understand the many tasty dishes we ate, but also the diverse cultures that make Singapore so unique. I would highly recommend her food tour as you also receive wonderful stories about the culture and history of Singapore.
Rachel was an outstanding tour guide! Energetic, cheerful, knowledgeable, well prepared, ready with alternatives if needed, caring, checked on us to make sure she wasn't walking too fast for us, streetwise and ready with historical facts. Rachel is a great leader. It was the best tour we've ever been on. Rachel food choices were spot on, varied, interesting & delicious. Although it was a food tasting tour, she added two temples, and they were fascinating. If we were staying longer, we would book another tour with Rachel. Highly recommend!
The Private Singapore Food Tour in Chinatown and Little India was wonderful. Rachel was fantastic guide with wealth of knowledge. We enjoyed most of the food but were grateful for the opportunity to taste and try new things. Highly recommend the tour and you should ask for Rachel by name!
Fantastic variety of food and culture with a mix tourist guide included. Well worth the experience .
We wanted to experience the local food culture in Singapore but were nervous to explore on our own. Rachel provided the perfect tour with extremely knowledgeable commentary throughout, not just about the food culture but also the history and life of locals. The food was all delicious and certainly plentiful and we sat amongst and with locals which was exactly the experience we were hoping for. Please support Rachel and don’t hesitate to book.
I just completed the Culture Curious Singapore food tour with Rachel, and honestly, it wasn't just a tour—it was the highlight of my trip. If you are looking for an experience that goes beyond simply eating and truly showcases the heart of Singapore, you absolutely must book with her. Rachel is a super informative guide whose knowledge effortlessly weaves together the history of the dishes with the broader social and cultural narrative of Singapore. The diversity of food she showcased throughout the tour was phenomenal, providing a delicious journey through the country's multi-ethnic tapestry. I sampled incredible dishes from different communities, and each bite was a lesson in how the Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Peranakan cultures have blended to create Singapore's unique identity. It wasn't just what I ate, but why—and Rachel brought that understanding to life. However, what truly elevated this tour to a 5-star-plus experience was Rachel’s unparalleled accommodation and care. The Singapore heat and humidity can be brutal, but Rachel managed the conditions expertly, making sure I was as comfortable as possible every step of the way. She was vigilant in only choosing stops that were in the shade and made multiple strategic A/C stops to give me a chance to cool down and refresh. Her thoughtful preparedness was outstanding. She came equipped with wet wipes and tissues, not just for me, but for cleaning down the surfaces of the busy hawker stalls before I sat down. She even handled the logistics of ordering entirely, letting me hang out and rest at the table while she went up to the often-crowded stalls to order food and drinks for me. It made the experience feel less like a bustling food trip and more like a pampered, insider's visit to the city’s best spots. I've previously done self-guided tours of hawker stations but having a guide allowed me to try a lot of food that I either didn't know about or wouldn't have tried without someone else encouraging me to try it. Rachel's professionalism, genuine friendliness, and deep passion for Singapore's heritage are unmatched. I left with a full stomach, a deeper appreciation for the city’s vibrant cultures, and the feeling that I had made a great friend. I cannot recommend Culture Curious and Rachel highly enough. Do yourself a favour and book their tour—it's the only way to truly experience the best of Singapore's food scene comfortably and curiuosly! And heed her pre-email warning - come with a very empty stomach - you will leave full!
We did the hawkers markets and cultural tour with Rachel. She was very caring and knowledgable about the local areas. We had many tastings both in Chinatown and Little India in markets that we could never have found by ourselves. Make sure you go on this tour feeling a little hungary. We opted for Rachel to meet us at our hotel and take us on the MTR to Chinatown which was very convenient for us. We recommend this tour with Rachael, it was a very enjoyable exoerience Marg and Geoff
Our tour guide was very informative but overall feel the tour was expensive for your food choices you are given.
It was Excellent and very knowledgeable as well. The guide was also a very nice person. Very friendly, I would 100% recommend to others this tour thank you for the great experience!!
If you want to eat like a local while learning about history and culture, then this is the tour for you. My tour guide was gracious with her time helping me navigate everything from the subway system to the spiciest of dishes at the Chinatown Hawker stalls. I was thrilled with a first had account of life in Singapore, one tasty plate of food at a time.
Rachel is a wonderful tour guide. Warm and friendly and very knowledgeable about the history, culture and food of Singapore. Clearly she has very congenial relationships with the local stall holders. Perhaps best of all, through conversation she intuited our particular tastes and interests, and tailored the tour accordingly. Thank you Rachel, it was a fantastic introduction to Singapore for first timers!
Rachel greeted us all by name She made us all fell welcome and checked on us regularly especially my mother who is in her 80s She was a very informative and knowledgeable guide pointing out local history and sites as we walked And the food was all very tasty Rachel provided us with everything we needed including wipes She also took us through 2 temples which was amazing I would highly recommend Rachel and this tour
Rachel provided a lot of Singapore history in addition to the food stop in Chinatown and Little India. Definitely a great tour.
Rachel is the absolute best! This was an incredible way to kickoff our time in Singapore - not only did we enjoy some great bites, but we also learned so much about Singapore culture and day-to-day life. Rachel also helped us feel comfortable using the MRT trains, which was so helpful for the rest of our time. Rachel is kind, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. We cannot recommend her more highly!!
We booked this Singapore Street Food Tour and enjoyed every moment. Our guide Rachel met us at our hotel promptly as scheduled and did a really fantastic job. She also moved at a comfortable pace, ensuring our safety and comfort throughout the tour. After boarding the local metro, we began in Chinatown and finished in Little India (...just as was described in the booking). Each tasting - Laksa soup, Crispy Curry Puffs, Hainanese Chicken, Roti Prata, and more! - were all delicious and provided interesting insights into the cultural, historical aspects of Singapore. In addition to the food tasting at the popular "hawker" food centers, we also enjoyed our stop for kaya toast at the "Nanyang Old Coffee" house which surprisingly included a charming coffee museum (exhibit) upstairs dedicated to preserving the Singaporean coffee culture. We booked this tour originally because it appeared to be a better balance of food and culture. With the inclusion of the food tastings and Temple stops along the way, the tour did not disappoint and exceeded all expectations. Our guide Rachel was both wonderful and very knowledgeable of the food and Singaporean culture. Highly recommend this tour (...with Rachel if possible!), especially if you have only a few short days to experience Singapore.
We signed up with Rachel for the private Singapore street food tour and had a lovely time. Rachel was very friendly and knowledgeable, taking us to a coffee museum, which was fascinating, before moving on to Chinese hawker markets, a Buddhist temple and another hawker centre in Little India. At each venue she purchased local dishes for us to try and explained their history and relevance to the area. We also visited other local areas with her where she explained the culture and history of living in Singapore. Would 100% recommend booking a tour with Rachel.
We had the best day experiencing the local delights across Chinatown and Little India! Rachel customised our tour to suit us and the food selections were incredible!!! We got to learn about the local history of Singapore and visit a place of worship. Worth every penny and thank you a hundred times over, Rachel for the best day exploring your city 😊
We had a terrific and fun few hours with Rachel, who shared her knowledge and respect for Singapore’s food and diverse culture in such an informed, engaging and entertaining way. As you would hope on a food tour, we went to places we would never have found otherwise, and tasted food and drink we would never have known how to order. A fabulous experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and is highly recommended. Rachel the owner was excellent in the booking process and questions answered as needed. Our host for the day Kelvin was brilliant. He arrived on time and looked after us attentively for the whole day. The food was varied ….lots to sample…you won’t like everything but that’s the fun of trying lots of dishes! We walked, got a bus and went on the underground ….. felt like a local….which was the whole point of choosing this tour. If you only have a couple of days to enjoy Singapore….this is certainly a tour to consider. 10/10.
This excursion was a wonderful experience. Rachel was so knowledgeable and personable. She gave us a real understanding about the multicultural experience that is Singapore. I really recommend this excursion. The food was great also and plentiful.
Can’t recommend this tour enough! Rachel was the best! She was so friendly and knowledgeable! She really caters the tour to what you are interested in seeing and trying. She is also very sociable and easy to chat with! One of the best tours I have done!
Corliss was great. She didn’t rush us , explained the history and cultures so we had a good understanding about the people of Singapore. The food choices were varied and delicious and she made a special effort to make sure I had special things to eat with my dietary restrictions. She spoke slowly and was easily understandable.
From the moment we booked the tour, Rachel liked after us like royalty! Great info about the tour and friendly reminders. The tour itself is an excellent mix of food (all of it delicious and accompanied with interesting stories about it) and culture and really brings a personal aspect to Singapore. We had one day in Singapore and this was a fantastic way to spend it! Definitely recommend- you’ll have fun with Rachel.
You will love this tour I can’t recommend enough, Rachel was amazing , you will enjoy so much, here a lot about history , see vibrant neighborhoods Chinatown and little India , you will love this tour and it’s a must, Rachel thank you for amazingggg day😍
Rachel was an excellent guide! We had fantastic sampling of foods and enjoyed her informative tour. I really enjoyed going to the temple and seeing the religious traditions in action. Highly recommend!!
Rachel is the best tour guide we have ever seen! She is excellent, lovely and definitely a superb storyteller and very insightful. We like and appreciate the way and attitude Rachel organized the tour with details, patience and her true passion before, during and after the tour which made our Little India time a very interesting, informative and memorable. Tasting local foods and walking through wet market were also an amazing part of the arrangements to get to know more about the culture and tradition. Highly recommend Rachel and you will always get surprise from her.
Enjoyed the tour tremendously! Even though Little India is like within the Singapore backyard, there were still gems of knowledge my husband and I got to know today! Rachel is such a personable and passionate guide. She takes every effort to make history "come alive". Drawing from her research and experience, she breezes us through a most enjoyable time down the "back streets" of little India to Jln Besar, dropping little tips and nuggets for the time-tested traveller. I am proud to support such quality local tours like these! Keep it up guys! :)
Joined the tour with a friend and group size was 5 in total inclusive of our guide, Rachel. Rachel is an exceptional guide who takes time to familiarise with us and has enriched us with tidbits of information on the historical background of the sites seen at Little India. Her rich knowledge of the place is clearly demonstrated in her bringing us to places where we can get magnificent bird's eye view of the landscape of Little India. Depsite the heavy rain, she was flexible in the tour schedule and was accommodating in checking with our schedule and extending the tour to 4 hrs to ensure that we still get to enjoy the full experience of the tour when the rain died down. The impressive depth and range of places, food and information covered makes it worth the price for the tour.
I joined the tour with a friend, and a couple haf also signed up for the tour separately so there were five of us in total with our tour guide, Rachel. The tour group's small, which makes for a much more discussive atmosphere and even though I'm Singaporean myself, I've taken away quite a fair bit from the tour. Unfortunately, it rained pretty heavily during the tour but Rachel re-arranged our itinerary and we started off with some food at Tekka hawker centre and a look through the wet market. She went through the history behind how hawker centres were started, how the dishes are made and some ingredients in the wet market. Once the rain had died down into a drizzle, she led us through Little India and shared about how Little India has 'evolved' over time including pointing out some relics from building projects and architectural features of cultural importance. She also gave us several food recommendations, which is always a plus. 😊 The tour took a total of almost 4 h. Overall, despite the more expensive price tag, I do think the small group tour Rachel provides is a really informative and personal experience. If you'd like to learn more about Singapore, Rachel and her tours with Curious Culture is definitely worth going for.
Visiting Singapore from Canada for the first time and did this tour with my 14 year old son on Day 7 of our visit. Booked the tour because I was curious about Little India and there wasn’t much about it in my travel guide. This tour is hands-down on my Top 3 highlights for the entire trip. Rachel is very knowledgeable and entertaining. She took us to places we would have otherwise not been to and gave us a solid and very interesting overview of the Indian cultural heritage in Singapore. Having her guide us through the Hawkers and market was very valuable so we’d get a great sample of Indian foods from “A” stalls, and so was having her guide us through a Hindu temple. We left with an appreciation we wouldn’t have had doing this on our own. Strongly recommend her to anyone visiting Singapore wishing to learn more about this fascinating facet of Singaporean life.
Rachel was prompt; extremely knowledgable about the various Singapore cultures; religion & history. The food tasted on the way was magnificent and I learnt about the Singapore not seen by most tourists such as the government sponsored housing. Amazing and excellent value - a must do tour.
