Great tour, beautiful zoo. Take an umbrella, you never know when it might rain and not everything is under cover
The zoo itself is incredible and worth visiting. However, we found breakfast with the orangutans quite underwhelming. Not at all like the pictures you see while booking the tour. While waiting for pictures, you are able to photograph them which is great. But we did feel very rushed getting our picture taken with the orangutans. And they were not as close to us as some online pictures depict. Didn’t even have a minute to adjust your pose before zoo employee was snapping his camera. Very expensive for a five minute photo that didn’t turn out. Each to their own, but I would say save your money and just spend the day at the zoo.
I was disappointed in this tour as it had originally been billed as 'breakfast with the orangutans' which had been the entire reason I had booked it. When we arrived for the breakfast we were told that Orangutans would not be joining us because their area was being redeveloped - something that had obviously been happening well before I booked the tour. Mohan, who accompanied us up to the Zoo was very personable and knowledgeable, but only accompanied us as far as the cafe for breakfast before we were left to our own devices and to find our own way back into town. We're independent and happy to do that, but I felt that for the cost, this tour didn't represent great value. Communication regarding the absence of orangutans was non-existent. Had I known, I would not have booked this tour.
We spent a lot of money on booking this activity to have breakfast with the orangutans only to get there and be told the orangutans won’t be coming to breakfast due to renovations being done in the area Instead they brought out a lizard , an owl and some macaws We come from Australia snd see lizards and owls there every day Very disappointed and would definitely not have done this activity if we had known the orangutangs were not going to be there
Thoroughly enjoyed it however had done it twice before I felt it has lost some of its appeal with the subtle changes made over the years and the crowd size.
Very disorganized as they had a taxi driver take us to meet the group. The taxi was late and drive very wild to get to the group. His driving was unacceptable. Once we Meg the group our guide was great. Don’t expect to get close to any of the animals though
Morning at the zoo, breakfast was fine and there was photo opportunity with various animals. The zoo is a wonderful zoo and the monkeys not caged is lovely ! My only critic is by the time breakfast is finished ( and we left early at 9.30) we had to be back to the driver at 11.30 which was not long enough. Not sure if that was down to our courier as the time started at 12 and then 11.45 then 11.30 . Id probably advise people just to visit zoo under their own steam and not worry about the brekkie bit!
It is a rare privilege to share your breakfast time with such wonderful creatures. It wasn't just Orangutans but also some very cute penguins, parrots and an iguana. We love Singapore Zoo and always try to visit when we are in Singapore. Special mention to Linda who helped arrange pickup at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which is much more convenient to the cruise terminal. If there is any regret it's we didn't spend longer. (The tiger didn't join us for breakfast but he is such a magnificent beast)
This trip was enjoyable in parts but a little bit rushed. There is so much more to see at the zoo that a morning is not enough. The breakfast with the orangutans was good and you get very close to them although we only saw one. The sea lion show could have been left out as it was mainly geared towards children. That would have given us more time for the train ride around the zoo. It was disappointing that there was no time to get off at the various stops to see the animals. The guide was pleasant but not very knowledgable about the animals. I would recommend a whole day visit to this amazing zoo.
Our first tour was cancelled at the last minute due to lack of numbers and were lucky to have one extra morning to do the tour! Tour was better than expected.
Breakfast in the zoo was fantastic. Very well organised and beautifully done. Great experience. Highly recommend. Animals and reptiles so well looked after. Loved it!
Our recent visit to the Singapore Zoo's "Breakfast with Wildlife" was an amazing experience, albeit one that felt a little too tightly orchestrated. The Transfer: The bus transfer from our hotel to the zoo was efficient and comfortable. No complaints. It was a smooth start to the morning. The Breakfast: The breakfast itself was a basic buffet. Think standard hotel fare – eggs, sausages, toast, fruit, and local food options. The focus, of course, wasn't the food, but the company. The Animal Encounter: This is where the experience truly shone. Having orangutans, reptiles, and other fascinating creatures as you ate was genuinely magical. The photo opportunities were incredible, and the keepers were knowledgeable and engaging. Seeing these animals up close was a unique and memorable experience. This aspect alone makes the breakfast worth it. However, the experience felt overly controlled. We were constantly being moved from one activity to the next. We were ushered from breakfast to a specific animal encounter, then to a show, and finally, to what felt like a pre-determined experience. While each individual element was enjoyable, the lack of freedom to explore was frustrating. Instead of being given a designated meeting points and times, allowing us to explore the zoo at our own pace, we were ushered around. This is not something our family enjoys. This felt like a missed opportunity to truly immerse ourselves in the zoo's atmosphere. The Verdict: The "Breakfast with Wildlife" at Singapore Zoo is a fantastic way to get up close and personal with some incredible animals. The animal encounters are truly special. Doing this again, we would confirm with the guid where and when to meet for the return to our hotel and go our own way. Recommendation: If you're willing to sacrifice a bit of personal freedom for the convenience of the being picked up and being guided around, the "Breakfast with Wildlife" is worth considering.
Hotel pickup was a little confusing but once we met up with Mohan our guide it was a great day. We chose to find our own way home as there was a lot more to see at the Zoo. Overall well worth the trip.
We enjoyed being up close with the Orang Utans. However, the four hour experience consisted of more than two hours waiting for and sitting on buses. If I go back to the zoo, I'll make my own way there and spend more time with the animals.
If you’re short on time and want to see the zoo as efficiently as possible, maximizing the seeing of animals, I highly recommend. Our guide is a seasoned tour guide of 20 years knew the zoo in and out and all the interesting facts about the animals. We got to see so many different animals and take pictures with them. This is a great use of short time.
Enjoyed the experience, food lovely, plenty choice, expected to see more than 2 orangatangs. However loved the zoo and close to all the animals.
This was a great service. Our guide Tina was excellent and very obliging. The zoo was terrific, with animals very well cared for. Lots of unusual animals not normally seen in our country. The zoo was very easy walking as well as having the convenience of a tram. Prompt pick-up and dropped us off at an eatery for lunch. Well recommended trip.
It was cancelled the night before:only because we were the only 2 to book it and had no idea of this. Asked for them to take the 2 of us and answer was no even though it had been booked ages ago and was a present for my husband. It was only a case of taking us there and our ticket.
The tour is good, food is ok nothing great the zoo is amazing but more time at the zoo is needed didn't get to see everything.
Good food and you get to see and meet a wide assortment of animals, including birds, lizards, penguins and Orang-utans.
Super nice day. Easy from pickup to drop off. :) Flexible times. Lots of information from a really great guide
We had a spectacular private tour of the zoo, including the breakfast with the animals! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the zoo, and easily guided us from exhibit to exhibit in the most efficient manor so we could see nearly everything in only a few hours! I highly recommend!
The breakfast was more than breakfast…. We were greeted by sea lions, owls, macaws, iguanas and of course Orangutans! They allowed us to get fairly close (no touching of course) and have animal questions answered! Highly recommend as a unique opportunity for adults and children alike… must not miss!!
BE WARNED! READ THE REVIEWS! This tour provider offered my hotel pickup from the drop down menu (confirmed) but last minute told me to go to ANOTHER hotel for pickup. Tour "guide" was not a guide at all! She only ESCORTED the group of seven to the restaurant passing 3 enclosures with comments and then dumped the group there and left. Questioned about this, SHE SAID..."What you want me to do? HOLD YOUR HAND?" THIS IS NOT A GUIDED TOUR! You get NOTHING from this tour operator. THERE IS NO TOUR AT THE ZOO! YOU ARE LEFT ON YOUR OWN!! Everything RUSHED because of whatever changes they decide to make at THEIR DESCRETION and LAST MINUTE! WHICH takes priority over the guests AND the booking description! NO ONE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY for the lack of transparancy or comminication details which say what this tour offers! They blame EVERYTHING on the "interns" at the office. ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY YOURE OUT OF LUCK!! The breakfast with (just looking at) Orangutangs is a JOKE! Plus $45 extra. AVOID A HUGE HEADACHE AND A STRESSFUL DAY. DONT DO IT!! READ THE REVIEWS! THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT!!
This review is not about the zoo itself which was wonderful. The tour however was poor. We paid for collection (which after payment were informed where we stayed was outside their collection zone) so we got ourselves to the Oo independently. We wanted to have breakfast with the orangutans but all the ins and outs of this were not made clear. To achieve the breakfast event one has to purchase a $45 buffet separately, which is fine but on top of the tour was starting to add up. The tour guide although tour guide spoke English he was not clear English and he walked very quickly. My friend and I have some mobility issues and could not keep up. We abandoned the guide and did it our way! Honestly, we recommend not taking the tour to visit the zoo. Get yourself there, buy the entry ticket and the buffet breakfast event which was well worth it and take your time. 😁
Exceptional experience at the Songapore Zoo and a fantastic guide. The animals are truly looked after and all in exceptional condition.
Once we met up with our guide - Siwa/Siva? A lovely Septuagenarian who took us on a semi private morning for breakfast, meet n greet some special animals including the orangutan African penguin, iguana and macaws . Then for a leisurely ramble around the zoo for bonus info and photographing the animals from “in the know” vantage points
The advert for this trip over exaggerates the experience! We sat on the tram and saw nothing! Waste of time and money. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. We only saw some animals because we didn’t go for breakfast which we are now glad for as that was our only chance to see anything.
Had the best time! Our guide was so knowledgeable about the animals and the zoo in general! I learned a ton I wouldn’t have been able to on my own! He was super personable and also explained all the other things we could do in the area. He really made the trip worth it!
Fun morning learning about the animals and having breakfast with the Orangutans. There were also penguins, an owl, and a lizzard. The zoo was very nice and had a large variety of animals.
Siwa our guide knows the zoo very well. Beautiful experience and he knows what to see by walking or by train to miss nothing. Only one thing I am disappointed. I paid to have breakfast with Orang outang and we didn’t because it was raining and they didn’t want to come down from their trees. It is nature. Very nice experience
We booked for a duration time of 4hours! We only got less then 2.5 hours in the Zoo, if we wanted to come back with the transfer. Our booking said it started at 8 in the zoo? we didn’t leave to go until 8.30ish which meant we didn’t get there until after 9, two people were late so we were waiting.
I’m fortunately it was raining quite heavily so the orangutans were nit brought out at breakfast. The breakfast was very good. Our guide then escorted us around the zoo where possible. Many if the animals were inside out if the rain
A great fun experience which is very well run with on time pick up from hotel and kindly dropped us back at a different location on return to city
The breakfast was fun, not the most amazing buffet food, but you’re really there for the animals. So it’s a no brainer really. Our guide was FABULOUS and gave us tips for how to do the zoo on a tight timeframe and make the most of your time and attractions. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
I had been to the breakfast some years ago and I rate the previous visit higher than this one. Things had changed over years and I hadn't realised how much walking there would now be as I am on a walking stick and have a much slower pace than others in the group. I would not recommend to someone who has experienced before but would recommend to someone who was having their first visit.
The pickup was on time in a clean bus.The guide was very friendly and generous with his advice about the zoo, animals, and general tourist information. Breakfast was very good, all guests seemed enjoy this especially the animals.
Enjoyed our morning at the zoo. Needed more time though! Pickup a bit confusing but all good in the end.
Waited an hour at pickup point but the company never showed up, called them a bunch of times but they didn’t pick up the phone either. Been using TripAdvisor for many years and never had this experience before. Don’t book this.
Breakfast with the Orangutan’s was great and the zoo was good. The reason I gave 2 stars for this experience was all around the transport. You can buy the tickets for breakfast directly from the zoo and its cheaper and then you can arrange your own way there via train and free bus or Grab. This offer did hotel transfers and purchased the tickets all in one, so it was just supposed to be easier. We were supposed to be picked up at our hotel, but the afternoon before the trip the tour operator left a message with our hotel telling us to go to another hotel for pickup across town. We tried to contact them when we got the message to confirm the change, but they didn’t respond. It took us 30 min on train and walking to get to the other hotel and we waited there for 15 min past pickup time then tried to call the operator with no repsonse. We then called Viator who got hold of the operator and they were at our hotel waiting for us. They the came to the hotel we were at and said it was an error by an intern telling us to come to the other hotel. With all the stuffing around we would have been better off getting ourselves to the zoo.
The tour guide never showed up for pick up. Claimed my booking was make too late the day before and they didn’t realise and at this stage I have not received my refund for missing the experience.
Overall experience of the actual zoo was wonderful. However the breakfast with the orangutans was a let down. The food was of low standard and it was cold. It felt a very rushed experience with limited time. We also felt that the advertisement was mis leading due to the fact that we thought that it would be a more personal experience with the orangutans.
So excited to visit Zoo but was not picked up. Could not make contact with Tour operator. The contact person I got was very helpful and a full refund is being given.
Breakfast with the orangutans was great but the sea lion show was even better. The whole zoo is amazing. Our pick up and drop off went smoothly as well.
Great fun. W were met b y Nicholas who was a knowledgeable guide. The zoo keepers were entertaining and made it very easy to see and be photographed with the animals.. Breakfast was a buffet. This was a challenge for me as I have a strict gluten free diet. Staff were great and got me 4 poached eggs (I could only eat 2) There was no gluten free bread.
The best thing about this tour was our tour guide Marie. She was very informative and her communication was outstanding!! Did not like the breakfast food at all.. was disgusting quality
The tour guide canceled and we are waiting for refund. Ibhave had no confirmation of the refund. If was disappointing as we paid and issued tickets but the tour operator canceled after we paid
If the operator of this tour was efficient I would have enjoyed this experience. However, I booked this excursion at least four weeks ahead of my visit to Singapore. I was only visiting Singapore for a few days so wanted to pack as much in as possible and not have to take a chance that I couldn’t do or see something of interest. Firstly, I could not download the tickets. Asked neighbours to help and then friends but with no joy. This gave me stress as not sure if I would not get in as no tickets. Then day before excusion they asked me to change date as there was not enough people on trip. Continually having to deal with this which totally spoilt my holiday. Would not recommend this company.
Marie was an excellent tour guide. So friendly and helpful. Driver wasn’t very good staying the lane driving and up and down the whole way on the accelerator. The one back was also the same. Both distracted with their phones & looking around. The breakfast wasn’t that good but the experience with the animals was worth every cent. We had some extra animal come to breakfast. Orangutans, Macaws, Owl, penguins and an iguana. You cannot touch the animals except the iguanas side of the body. Great photo opportunities. The zoo itself was not as good as it was 30 years ago. There seems to be a lot of staff walking around not doing much. It would help if there was staff on each exhibition. I remember there was a recording or someone there talking about the Komono Dragons last time but this time nothing on any of them. It’s all about reading the signs. So it wasn’t a good experience because it was not educational. There was not one drink machine or shop that had sparkling water or normal water TBH, only soft drink and a few other choices! Most of the cafes and stops were only opening at midday. The gift shop prices were quite reasonable. Over all interactions with the zoo was the best part and the rest was below average. I was very disappointed as I had raved about it to my family.
