We enjoyed the Katong Food Tour w our guide, Holden. The foods we tried were delicious and represented the various local cuisines of SG. Pacing was just right and we were quite full at the end of the tour. Our guide, Holden was knowledgeable not only about the foods we tried but also questions about SG in general.

Bala was an amazing Guide. He adapted the trip to match our interests. He explained not only about food and history, but the culture of Singapore. I definitely will be recommend and using him again.
Bala was a fabulous tour guide, knowledgeable and passionate about Singapore food and culture and a lovely person. We got to see a side of Singapore that was off the beaten path. We ate incredibly delicious food which even as foodies we would never have known how to find. We cannot recommend this tour highly enough.
Fantastic tour with Tesia! Highly recommend if you are visiting Singapore.
The food tour was excellent! Tesia was brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable.
Our recent Street food tour was led by a very special guide by the name of Alvin. His knowledge of the area and street food was in my opinion second to none. He mixed the Tour up with a lot of fun as well as an extensive knowledge of the area and it's history from it's early origins. Great knowledge and a terrific sense of humour made our tour the best we have ever experienced.
Dawn, our tour guide, was the best. Friendly and easy to get long with and knowledgeable. This was a great tour of a neighborhood where you can see Singaporeans live and not so many tourists. I loved that we mostly went to independently run businesses. Dawn didn’t rush us. She got us whatever we needed to be comfortable and we learned so much. Plus she is a great photographer! I would recommend this tour and tour guide to anyone.
Tesia, the Guide made the Tour so good. Her knowledge of the area, the food and even her personal anecdotes was wonderful. We went to the smallest stores to a Peranakan museum house that sold local food we'd never have normally tried. The walk was flat & easy. At the end of the tour we sat around like old friends talking about Singapore and our home. It was certainly worth the money. Thank you Tesia.
We had an excellent tour. Our guide was presenting the foods with pasdion and background knowledge.
Our aim was to try different foods that we otherwise wouldn’t recognise and the objective was definitely fulfilled. Our guide Bala could not have been more helpful in seeking out traditional foods and ensuring we had a great time and learnt a lot along the way. My wife and I are in our seventies and although the humidity made it hard going at times Bala kept us hydrated and took great care to ensure we didn’t overdo it. The Peranakan area is really interesting and colourful and I’m confident we covered all the highlights.
If you want to immerse yourself in experiencing local food, this is a worthwhile tour. Do note though that this entails a lot of walking, and can be challenging when the weather is hot. Varagi, our guide, was kind enough to accommodate a slower pace for my elder parents, without conpromising the culinary experience. For those who are younger and more physically active, you may able to visit more places. Varagi answered most of our queries well and is able to give a thorough history of the area.
An amazing food tour. In a residential Singapore neighbourhood that we knew we wanted to explore. Diverse food options and great dialogue and information from a wonderful guide.
Great tour with Jamie. Lots of good food and lots of local Singaporean knowledge and stories too. Great fun. Thanks....
Bala was our guide and was extremely knowledgeable not only of the history of this area but on the history of Singapore past and present. He told us of fascinating true stories of individuals who contributed not only to the specialty perenakan/nyonya food but the building of Singapore. The food we tasted was delicious. Hand made curry puffs,laksa,otak-otak,kueh, putu piring to name a few. Each type of food had a story behind it. Definitely do not eat before going on this tour! Bala was courteous and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable with the walking and happy to answer all our questions. I highly recommend Bala and this tour
It was a delight having Jamie as our tour guide especially with the additional knowledge of Singapore’s history and surrounding area. We visited places and tried dishes which we probably would never have set foot in . Would highly highly recommend.
Jamie led us round Katong and found lots of things to eat that we would never have known about, sometimes from places we might have never thought to go into. She was great at giving us lots of information on the area and history, as well as contemporary Singapore. Overall an excellent tour and excellent guide, definitely recommended (and make sure you get the bak koot teh, with dark soy sauce and chili)!
We had the lovely Jamie as our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the food places we went to. We stopped at five places, each a different cuisine and flavour. She was happy to stop at Starbucks because I needed my morning coffee fix🙏You must go on this tour with an empty stomach! 😅👌 I recommend this if you love trying different flavours and wanting to know the background and history of food in Singapore.
Fantastic private tour. James our guide was very knowledgeable and adapted the itinerary to suit our group. The food was fantastic, so much variety.
We had such a fantastic time with our guide Jamie, thank you! Jamie was really knowledgeable about the food and the culture of this vibrant neighbourhood. The food was delicious! Jamie answered all of our questions and gave us a lovely welcome pack 😀 Would definitely recommend this tour (and Jamie)!!
A wonderful walking tour with Jamie; she shared information about the area's history & what it's like now from a local's perspective. We got to enjoys some delicious snacks Jamie made us feel like we were spending time with a friend. Having visited Singapore numerous times, Katong/Joo Chiat was an area we had not spent any time, so finding this walk was ideal. I'd recommend this walk to anyone who enjoys a different area of Singapore & enjoys good food.
This was a great trip. A nice mix of history, culture, and food! I've been to Singapore a few times before but never to this part of town. It was really interesting hearing about the Peranakan history. And, again, the food was amazing! Thanks to Jamie our guide who looked after us, kept us entertained and showed us the best places to go - she was amazing. A great trip!
We did a food and history tour with Jamie. She was fantastic, she made us feel very welcome and provided us with a couple of small snacks to help get us to our first food stop. Jamie take on the history of the area was first class. She has a bubbly personality and great sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would suggest that if given a chance ask for Jamie to be your tour guide. Thanks for a lovely morning.
The tour was very enjoyable. Jamie was a great tour guide. She is very knowledgeable and gave us a great background on Singapore history. The food was excellent.
This was a wonderful escape into areas of Singapore that a tourist wouldn't normally see. Jamie Seow was funny and informative. The curry puffs were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend.
I really enjoyed the food tour! Our guide was very friendly and I learned a lot about the culture, food and the city in general.
Jamie was amazing. Her knowledge of the city is great. She taught us so much about the culture and origins of Singapore in an unscripted passionate view. Loved it. And the food she takes to you. Not your typical chicken and rice and satay Singapore food. She dives deeper into more multi culture food spots (which is what Singapore is, multi culture) and off the beaten path full of unique flavours and different types dishes. Go Hungry!!
Wonderful. Darius was informative and funny. Very enjoyable. We would book other tours with this company and would ask again for Darius too.
Fabulous tour with Darius today. Tried a variety of new foods to us and ate like Kings and Queens. Darius is very knowledgable about food, history and other topics. Good sense of humour too :) We would book a tour with Darius next time we are in Singapore again.
We had a funny, surprising and great food tour with Darius. We discover many delicious food in Joo Chiat. We highly recommended this!
Great tour but just be aware there is a lot of walking which can be tiring particularly when it is hot.
Highly recommend this walking food tour! Our guide Jamie Hsiao was very knowledgeable on Singapore history, food, culture etc and provided a great experience for us. Tried some food I never would have otherwise eaten which was delicious! Communication and organisation of the tour was also great.
My husband and I just spent a lovely morning walking and eating our way around Katong with the lovely and very funny, Jamie. Highlights were definitely the curry puffs and laksa. After being to Singapore many times it was a side of the island that we had not seen before but so glad we have now been introduced to this melting pot of local cuisines.
This was an amazing walking food tour. Our tour guide Steve, was so informative and I highly recommend trying to secure Steve as your guide. Not only did we learn about the food but the historical information on Singapore was so interesting. The food was great. We tried lots of different things we would not normally try. Can’t recommend this tour enough
James James James so handsome guide!!! Joined a tour with my friends and our guide James was fantastic , excellent choice of food and humorous jokes , will come back again the next time I visit Singapore 🇸🇬
Darius was an excellent tour guide that took us to the best spots in Katong. Show up with an open mind and try everything, the food is delicious. Darius is also very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the history of Katong and the people living there. Also great value for the tour. Just book it, you will not regret it.
A must do food tour if you’re visiting Singapore. You are able to taste and learn the cuisine that’s slightly away from the crowded central area. Jamie Hsiao gave an impressive tour.
Jaime was amazing! So knowledgeable and personable! I can’t thank her enough for showing us around and giving such details regarding the food culture in Singapore.
We absolutely enjoyed every minute of the tour led by Holden. Holden was knowledgeable, humourous and sensitive to our needs. He brought us to different places to try local snacks, and also shared with us places around with historical significance. I would highly recommend this tour to those who want to know about Katong and the yummy snacks/food there.
Our guide, Holden, is very knowledgeable & dedicated. He not only introduces us to the different ethnic foods but also gave us some old Singapore background. He also set us on ease with his humorous tales!
Absolutely delicious classics, such as the laksa and curry puff, plus food I hadn’t tried before and which will be new favourites. Darius was such a wealth of knowledge and so incredibly generous- really kind, flexible, thoughtful.
Darius was standout- the most thoughtful and considerate tour guide. He listened so carefully to what my interests were and what I’d already tried and kept adjusting our tour accordingly, so I could have unique, delicious experiences. Which I absolutely did. Not only that, Darius knows so so much about Singapore history and about its culture- old and new. He is completely delightful, so generous, so warm- it was like being shown around by a very wise friend. He’s also a crazy Asian- loved the sneaky Milo and the sardine curry puff!!! He even walked me back to the station and gave me all sorts of advice in where to shop, etc, thank you so much, Darius, you took the very very best care of me from the beginning to the end!!!!
I’ve always loved the food when I visit Singapore, especially hawker stalls, hole-in-the wall places, mom-and-pop establishments, and amazing ethnic opportunities. Taking this afternoon food tour from Zaniel was a great opportunity for me to experience all of these and more! I really enjoyed Zaniel’s passion and knowledge of Katong and its history, culture, and food! I absolutely loved this area of Singapore (I’ve spent months total in SIN and never paid much attention to this neighborhood). It’s full of wonderful small restaurants, bars, small independently owned shops, pop up flea markets, pet shops, and so much more. I loved everything about this tour and it definitely inspired me to return to Katong on my next visit!
This was a great food and history tour, Zaniel was a top guide. He was easy to chat with, very knowledgeable about the Katong area, Singaporean history and the local food. There was a lot of variety in the foods my favourite was the curry puffs. After doing this tour I feel even more welcome in Singapore and world cultured Would 100% recommend it.
Jamie was a great tour guide. She shared information both about the food and the country and answered all my questions. She came prepared with napkins and fans for us which was great on such a hot day! She's extremely knowledgeable and it made the food tour so much more.
This was a fabulous walking tour! We tried so many different things and got to learn a lot about the city and the history and how the different cultures of Singapore have shaped it. Stephen Choy was an absolute delight as a guide. He always made sure that we had enough water, and took us to unique places and to small family shops for the very best of Singaporean food! We only went to one Hocker market, and I really appreciate it. Getting the chance to try these multigenerational food shops that were so unique and the best of their kind. Stephen really made sure that we got what we wanted out of the trip and also was able to modify it since we had a conference later this afternoon. I highly recommend this tour and especially Stephen has a phenomenal guide
We had a great walking tour of Katong with Jamie. She is a fantastic tour guide, highly knowledgeable and entertaining. It was great to hear about the daily lives of Singaporean people. The food was delicious and Jamie accounted for our dietary preferences and the fact we had children with us. I would recommend Jamie as a guide and this interesting tour for sure.
We just got back from a 3 hour walking tour with Jamie. She was so interesting and knowledgeable about so many things! The food she got for us to try was also delicious and plentiful.
Darius did an amazing tour, food with a bit of history thrown in. We loved it! Have done a lot of tours in Singapore but this was the best by far. Throughly recommend it!
Our tour guide Jamie was very well informed with regard to best places to eat and general knowledge of local area. We had visited our final stop already and she was quick to suggest an alternative. Overall a fun family morning out! Thanks again Jamie
What a great day we had with Jamie who was engaging, energetic and knowledgable throughout our walking tour of Katong. We were never bored or tired or hungry. A day before the tour Jamie contacted us to discuss our expectations and notify of dietary requirements - and again at the meeting point took time before commencing to understand our interests so that she could tailor the tour for us to give us a great experience. We really appreciated her attention to detail and excellent customer service. We were so lucky to have been the only tour participants that day! As a result we had a private customised tour and lots of fun discussions with Jamie about life in Singapore. The tour course and content were great and the food tastings were absolutely delicious. We are freqent travellers to Singapore and have visited Katong previously. Despite this Jamie was able to show us more aspects of the local culture, discuss the history as well as new developments of the area, AND gave us a delicious food tour. At the end of the tour Jamie went above and beyond walked my husband to the bus stop (I decided to stay and further explore) and sent me a photo of him as proof of life. What a giggle I had! Well done Jamie, what an asset to Eat Snap Tour!
