Recommend this tour to all Singaporeans and tourists. It really allows you to see and understand Singapore’s culture better. I feel that it should be given to all singaporean students as an excursion trip for them to understand their history.

The live tour guide was interactive and made the experience more immersive! Loved the artefacts, set up of the place and stories that reflect real lives of individuals - very realistic and reminiscent of 1950s Singapore

Our tour guide uncle Alvin was great at explaining the many things in the experience and was a very fun tour guide. He was great in character and did his best to help us understand all the history.

Beautiful history of the town

Had a very enjoyable experience at Chinatown Heritage Centre for Under One Roof: A Living Chinatown Experience. The character-led portion was engaging and made the history of 1950s Chinatown feel much more personal than a normal museum visit. Walking through the recreated shophouses while hearing the stories of early migrants and workers helped bring the exhibits to life, especially the accounts of the Samsui women and Chinese coolies. The experience was well paced, informative without feeling too heavy, and a good way to learn more about the everyday lives of people who helped shape Singapore. The heritage-inspired dinner afterwards at Rise Bakehouse Heritage was also a nice continuation of the theme. Having a main course followed by the specially created dessert made the whole programme feel more complete rather than just ending after the tour. Overall, it was a thoughtful and well-put-together experience, and I would recommend it to both locals and visitors who want to learn more about Singapore’s Chinatown in a more immersive way.

It was an immersive experience from the start. From the first guide to the Samsui woman. I love the thorough walkthrough of all the exhibits with the individual stories shared. It brings much more memory to the experience as opposed to us doing it alone. Wish we had more time to walk around the exhibits. Would have appreciate if we can come back another day.

A must-go if you are visiting Singapore’s Chinatown - you will learn about the lives of people in historical occupations, some even lasting until today. Very interactive exhibits keep things interesting and really put you in the perspective of someone from Singapore’s multi-layered history.

very interesting introduction

It was an amazing enthographic experience. The tour, the character guide, the decoration and props were so detailed and accurate. I learned so much more despite being a local. The character guide, TC was fantastic. Really passionate and knew his history. We learnt so much. And enjoyed ourselves.
