This hotel seems to struggle with a cockroach infestation, I am surprised no other reviews mention this. We stayed at this hotel in two periods in May 2026. Both periods and in different rooms we saw large roaches. In the first period, we stayed on the first floor and found a larger American roach in our room. Since tropical locations have higher likelihood we thought this was a one-off and decided to continue our stay. The second period we had requested and gotten a room on the 4th floor in hopes of reduced chance of a unexpected visitor. But still we saw one again... On our first night after coming back to the hotel. Immediately after we decided to checkout and instead find a new hotel. I don't think it is worth staying in a seemingly infested hotel. After some back and forth with the reception, the hotel finally agreed to a refund for the night we hadn't stayed. They offered to switch our rooms, but seeing that we had seen roaches in multiple rooms already I doubt it would help. The hotel rooms and it is interior is a bit dated, even for a 4-star, and it seems that this likely is a root for its issues. We chose this hotel due to its closeness to Yishiun - however after our experience at this hotel we instead chose a hotel closer to city center, where pricing is similar and room standards much better. Luckily Singapore have many options. Two stars since they at least gave us a refund. Was a larger discussion to get there...

Orchid golf club is a very good one. I have been playing golf as an MGK member for 3 years. The facility feels a little old, but I feel great because the staff is always friendly and pleasant. 3 course - 9 holes let me experience the various courses and are always well managed. After my workout, the meals at the vanda terrace are always great.
As a parent, I really enjoyed visiting Orchid Country Club with my family. The environment is peaceful, spacious and well-maintained, making it a great place to relax and spend quality time together. There are many facilities available, and the overall atmosphere feels very comfortable and family-friendly. What I appreciated most was how the club offers activities suitable for both adults and children, so everyone has something to enjoy. The staff were polite and helpful, and the surroundings were clean and pleasant throughout our visit. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for family gatherings, short getaways or simply a relaxing weekend outing.
Orchid Country Club (OCC) has evolved into a bit of a hidden culinary hub in the North, offering a variety of dining experiences that range from massive halal buffets to hidden Korean gems. Here is a breakdown of the top dining spots at OCC to help you decide: ### 1. GOCHU (Hidden Gem) Located near the golf driving range, this is currently one of the trendiest spots in the club. It features a "cave-style" interior with stone walls and greenery, offering a very different vibe from the rest of the club. * **The Food:** Specializes in Korean ribs and K-BBQ. * **Must-Try:** The **Galbitang** (24-hour boiled beef short rib soup) is highly rated for its tender meat that "slips off the bone." Their **Pork Ribs Kimchi Jjim** is also a winner for those who like bold, tangy flavors. * **Vibe:** Modern, youthful, and relaxed. ### 2. Himawari Japanese Restaurant A long-standing favorite known for its quality Japanese buffet and à la carte options. * **The Food:** Best known for its **thick-cut sashimi** (Salmon, Tuna, and Yellowtail). They also serve great **Fried Tang O** (garland chrysanthemum) which is surprisingly crispy and addictive. * **Must-Try:** The **Mixed Sashimi Don** or the **Shabu Shabu** if you are going for the buffet. * **Vibe:** Traditional Japanese setting, often busy, so reservations are recommended. ### 3. Royal Palm @ OCC A massive, halal-certified international buffet that is very popular for large family gatherings and corporate events. * **The Food:** A wide spread of Mediterranean, Western, and Asian dishes. * **Must-Try:** Their seafood spread and the dessert corner. Reviewers often mention the **Salmon Curry** and **Chilli Crab**. * **Vibe:** "Resort-style" and very spacious, though it can get quite hectic and loud during peak weekend hours. ### 4. Vanda Terrace This is the go-to spot for a more casual, alfresco dining experience overlooking the greenery. * **The Food:** Focuses on local Singaporean and Malaysian favorites. * **Must-Try:** Classic "club food" like Fried Rice, Laksa, and Satay. It’s perfect for a post-golf meal or a simple family dinner. * **Vibe:** Open-air, breezy, and very laid-back. ### **Summary Table** | Restaurant | Cuisine | Best For... | Halal? | |---|---|---|---| | **GOCHU** | Korean | Trendy dinner / Date night | No | | **Himawari** | Japanese | Sashimi lovers / Buffets | No | | **Royal Palm** | International | Large groups / Celebrations | **Yes** | | **Vanda Terrace** | Local/Asian | Casual alfresco lunch | No | **Tip:** If you are heading there on a weekend, try to take the free shuttle bus from **Yishun MRT**, as parking can occasionally get tight when there are wedding events at the Grand Ballroom.
Because of the HIP (Home Improvement Programme) for our HDB flat, we booked a room there for about 2 weeks. I like the rooms there. Nice view from my balcony, and comfortable bedding. Amenities were also good. There’s a FairPrice within walking distance within the country club. Automated car wash services are there in the event where you lazy take your car to some fuel station to wash. Shuttle bus services from Yishun MRT are also available, which makes getting from the MRT to the country club a lot easier and convenient. Overall good stay and recommended if you’re willing to spend $300+ (or $200+ for HIP programme promotion).
