Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre

We booked here for our long layover. It is situated in China Town. This hotel is clean, very accessible to everything, restaurants, spa and train station. There's heaps lf bars and cafes surrounding it. Also the night markets is just walking distance. It is very safe around this area as we roamed around at night I found this hotel through Accor and I definitely would love to come back again. We requested a late check for my out of 6pm as our flights is in the mkddle of the night. They have upgraded us on a two double bed from just the original double bed. The bed and pillows are so comfy we slept well. I also liked that this hotel is quite despite being in the centre of business. We also availed their breakfast. I would rebook again next time we visited next month. I highly suggest this hotel as it is clean, quiet and close to everything.

Rooms are small but the beds were good. Rooms are clean and the cleaning staff do a splendid work. The breakfast is very nice with multi continental variations of food. Chinese, Indian and Western. With live cooking stations for eggs. The juices are unfortunately not fresh but that’s not a deal breaker when the food is excellent. The pool is large and nice, usually pretty empty even on hot days. Though getting a bed at the pool can be quite a challenge. Reception area is almost always busy during the day, which can be a bit annoying. There’s a small convenience store next to the hotel, so you can get any food, drink or basic needs sorted out easily. In terms of location it’s excellent. You’re next to China town with great food options. Enjoyed my stay here.

Pros: 1. Receptionists were helpful and quick to check in and out. 2. Location is superb - within mins walk to Chinatown, Telok Ayer and Clarke Quay including MRT stations. 3. Easy and seamless request for late check out. I appreciate that. 4. Generally, clean and new. Cons: 1. Room is incredibly tiny. For the price paid at $250, it's very, very unworthy. I've stayed in hotels nearby double the size of the room with equivalent or better quality stay at a rate lower than paid. 2. Toilet is also very very tiny. For a petite asian woman of 150cm height, I struggled to shower and wipe myself dry comfortably. Had to open the toilet door to comfortably wipe myself dry and get dressed. Definitely, impossible for anyone bigger than me. 3. Housekeeper were still cleaning rooms at 10pm. I can imagine that they were understaffed but that was disruptive to our rest. 4. For the price paid, I'd say we can explore plenty of other options nearby the vicinity or around Robertson Quay area which is within 10 mins walk to Clarke Quay.

My stay at Mercure Icon was truly memorable, thanks to the excellent service provided by the reception team. Nicholas at the front desk went above and beyond by arranging an early check‑in for me at 10am. Being able to settle in so early was amazing and made my trip much more comfortable!!! His professionalism and attentiveness really stood out. I also admire Mercure’s commitment to sustainability. Instead of bottled water, they provide drinkable water directly from the tap, which is both environmentally friendly and practical. It’s refreshing to see a hotel take meaningful steps toward reducing plastic waste while still ensuring guests have easy access to clean water. Another highlight was the thoughtful selection of snacks provided in the room. They were distinctly Singaporean in style, showcasing local flavors and culture. This small touch added a sense of authenticity to my stay and made me feel more connected to the local experience. Overall, Mercure Icon combines outstanding hospitality, eco‑friendly practices, and cultural touches that make it a fantastic choice for travellers. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort with a genuine Singaporean feel.
