Thank you ACT for an enjoyable and varied food tour. It was good to get a little bit out of the tourist areas and sample some local traditional dishes and delicacies. Recommended 😊

I need to preface this by saying I have taken truly excellent food tours in Siem Reap, tours where I felt like I was in an episode of an Anthony Bourdain show, with passionate guides that sat with you and explained the history of the food, the restaurant, and showed you how to use all of the accompanying ingredients. When I decided I was going back to Siem Reap- this tour was one of the very first things I booked. I booked this tour expecting at least something similar to that. Instead, we got a guide that got us seated and left the table. We may have gotten a few words about the food. The food at the final stop was so dry that it was impossible to eat. The tour was sanitized and uninspired. The biggest positive I can say is that I know that the food we ate was safe. Find a local tour not affiliated with a major tour company like viator or trip advisor.
Mick and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Lux! He took us around Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples, introduced us to some delicious Cambodian food on a fantastic food tour, and showed us the fascinating stilted village. Everything was so well organised, from the tuk tuk and car drivers to our boat trip. Lux made it all seem effortless, and we felt genuinely looked after every step of the way. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful, flexible and a pleasure to spend time with. Nothing was too much trouble, and he really made our time in Siem Reap special. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lux to anyone visiting Cambodia!
I booked a food tour with Lux, and it was so incredibly good! Super efficient, beautiful food. Come hungry!
Lux was a great fit for our family of 5. He was very friendly and tailored the food for our food preferences. He also shared a lot about Cambodia, beyond the food. We visited three different local restaurants and tried eight authentic Cambodian dishes. Lux made it easy for us by picking us up from the hotel and arranging for tuk-tuk transport to each location and then back to the hotel. This is a wonderful experience for those looking to try something beyond Pub Street. We’d highly recommend Lux!
Awesome food tour from local chives specialist to bbq beef to pancakes and spring rolls finished with noodle soup and dessert. All the food places were local and authentic with virtually no tourists. It was all amazing the pancakes and noodle soup stood out for me and my wife loved the Chives. Lux is a super awesome guide highly recommended.
The tour was very disappointing. Billed as 10 taste experiences, we were looking forward to sampling a variety of local food in different places. However, we were taken to just 3 places so we were not getting the expected varied experience. Yes, we had 10 dishes, but this was nothing like similar tours we have done where you sample different foods in different locations. Disappointing and not worth it.
Our tour was great! Got to try a lot of delicious foods from local historic places. Highly recommend!
Really good food tour with Lux, a great guide with a knowledge of local food history and good places to eat. We were taken to several places we would not have found by ourselves, just local stalls and shops selling often one specialty dish. Food was all brilliant and a warning, don’t eat for a few hours before! This tour gives you some tastes of things most people probably would not find in the main tourist areas.
Mr Nak took us on the food tour around Siem Reap. He accommodated well for my vegetarian friend and also gave me option to eat meat. There was so much food, I recommend sharing meals at the start, because we almost couldn't finish the last meal. Took a bjt longer than two hours, which was perfect!
The tour had many less tastings than we were told, we only tried 3 things. Our guide was nice but he barely spoke at all throughout the tour nor did he give much information about the food we tried, the history, or our surroundings. He also showed us a video of his dead puppies…no thank you. The little food we did have was delicious. The tuktuk was convenient and modern. We’ve done a lot of food tours and they have been very well-rounded, but for this one we wouldn’t recommend because of what we got versus the price we paid.
What a great evening. We definitely tasted more than 10 things and all from local restaurants, ending with some fried insects which look scary but tasted ok. Food felt very safe. Our guide was really informative about the food and about Cambodia.
Amazing experience with excellent guide. Heaps of food so bring an appetite. Bottled water is also supplied. Very convenient with hotel pickup and drop off provided.
We had a fun and informative tour tasting some scrumptious local foods, and even braving the fried insects. Going to where locals eat and shop was something we’d never have done without this tour. Quick confirmation of our booking and it was just the three of us. Recommend!
Highly recommend this tour for a quick taster of the local cuisine available in Siem Reap. A perfect amount of food - there is plenty if you are hungry, otherwise there is no pressure to finish everything. It is also a great way to see Siem Reap and get your bearings. A highlight was being taken to Road 60, a favourite among locals, which I don’t think we would have ventured to on our own as tourists. There were some other foods we wanted to try that we had heard of or seen and our guide accommodated that too. This tour is relatively quick - we were picked up at 5.30pm and dropped back at our hotel by 7.30pm, so plenty of time left in the day afterwards.
Lux was a fabulous tour guide for our private food tour of Siem reap. Was so great to experience local cuisine and have the heritage explained to us. We especially loved seeing the markets outside of the main tourist areas and eating with locals. The tuk tuks were also a highlight. Rolls Royces driven by a father and his son (with a grandchild along for the ride)! Highly recommended.
Ran is a good tour guide. He tried his best to provide us with some background information on the food we ate and the places we saw. He can be a bit shy, but if you ask him about Cambodia, he'll be very much willing to provide the information, which I appreciate. Coming from Thailand where our tour guides barely said anything because they cannot confidently speak in English, Ran is a great improvement. As for the tour itself, it could be improved by adding more stops. And if you are expecting 10 local tastings, you might need to manage your expectations. I have tried food tours before, and when they say 10, they really provide 10 local tastings. Good thing we're more up for the experience than the actual food. Overall, this activity can be a good deal, but can be improved to cater to a wider range of clientele.
Great experience! I always like to see the real culture and how locals live. Eat good, local food, away from the touristy resorts. Learned so much about the cuisine, community and history of Siem Reap. I recommend!
Nak picked us up in a tuk tuk and we went to about four different locations to try, count them, ten dishes. So a lot of food and a variety of restaurants & food stands. Pace yourself, it is a lot of food.
This is a good tour for anyone (especially foodies) wanting to taste real authentic Cambodian food. Our tour guide Nak picked us up at the hotel in a Tuk Tuk. Our first stop was at a restaurant where we were served beef on a skewer (Sach Ko Ang), hot off the grill. We ate it with bread and a side salad - delicious. At the next stop it was LotCha (fried noodles) and Nom Krouk (coconut cakes) served with pumpkin juice. Amazing combination. I liked the coconut cakes. The ride on the Tuk Tuk around town was really fun. At the next stop we had spring rolls, both fresh and deep fried. They were served with a peanut dipping sauce. I liked the deep fried rolls. The walk through the night market was interesting as we got to see some exotic foods - like fried grasshoppers, silkworms and even tarantulas. It's not for the faint of heart - my wife was brave enough to eat a few grasshoppers and silkworms. I didn't. At the last stop we had yellow pancakes with a coconut dipping sauce and ended the evening with some delicious, sweet tasting desserts. Highly recommend this tour.
Our guide was very nice but for us the food was average. Pick up was on time, but it just didn’t meet expectations
Nak was an amazing guide we ate very delicious food and had a great time! We got to eat what the locals are eating and learned much
We have done many food / walking tours and this was definitely the worst It advertised 10 local tastings and drinks. All we received were 5 tastings (6 if you include the small serving of pickles we got with the beef satay sticks) and water. Give this a miss and choose a different tour operator.
The last stop was a very unsanitary place, we did not eat the food. I will not advise anyone that has a week stomach The guide is nice, and he tries very hard to, but the last place was not nice
This was an amazing experience. Lux, who is in the photo, is a thorough professional in his communication and how he runs the tour. We were picked up at our hotel and traveled by tuk tuk to three locations where we tried food that we never would have found on own. The first stop had delicious meat skewers and the green mango slaw that I love. We then went to another location to have chive buns and a rice noodle dish. The chive buns were the bomb! We also tried a drink that I can only describe as a pumpkin smoothie. The first two restaurants are family owned and have been in business for over 40 years! The final stop was one of the restaurant stalls at the night market. This was such a great way to end the tour and with Cambodian beer too. As promised, we had more food than we could eat, and I really tried because it was all so good. We did make one quick stop to do a sampling of desserts. They were selling the fried insects across the street, but we opted just to watch others try them. I definitely recommend this tour. In fact, I have a friend who hopes to go in January!
Nak is an excellent tour guide. We enjoy the tour. My goal is to eat authentic Cambodian food and mission accomplished. I highly recommend Nak and the food tour.
I was by myself and the tour guide made me feel like a vip. All my questions were never a problem to answer. The range of food and quality was very good
Great experience trying new foods! Our tour guide Nak was very knowledgeable and it was really fun spending the evening with him.
Wonderful tour with Lux. Very knowledgeable and attentive with some delicious out of the way food stops. Would recommend.
Our guide Ran was prompt and polite. Our tuk tuk was comfy and safe driver. These were the only positives. It was not a tour by someone passionate about showing people some of the food of Siem Reap. In hindsight we should have called it quits at the start but thought surely it would get better, there are a lot of good reviews. Food was bought, we ate, we left. I expected a story with my food, this is what a food tour is to me. Our guide Ran tried but failed, we felt uncomfortable and he seemed very stressed. We were so relieved when the tour ended. Would not recommend,
Tour guide was great, very friendly and chatty. Food options were unique. You might fill up so don’t feel bad not eating everything offered in full. We even got to try a drink sold at only one of the restaurants. Fun evening!
Excellent experience. Our guide was on time/early and made every effort to let us experience local flavors.
Food tour was really good, we enjoyed trying new dishes . We were very very full by the end of it. Didn’t really like the desserts though.
This tour was a great opportunity to enjoy local neighborhoods and Cambodia cuisine. We traveled by tuk tuk to a few diferent parts of Siem Reap. As we visited 5 locations (and enjoyed 10 dishes), in nearly every spot there were no other tourists. Lex was a terrific guide and shared the history & culture of his country and the background of each food and restaurant. The tour moved at a great pace and we enjoyed foods, neighborhoods, markets, and conversation we never would have on our own! Lex and the drivers went out of their way to make it a terrific evening, even making an extra stop on the way back to the hotel.
The tour had some interesting stops and tastings, with some modern and some traditional stuff, and a few that I really enjoyed! The guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and really tried his best even though it was raining and I was the only person in the tour. I think he will improve his presentation skills as he gains more experience.
Nak was a good tour guide, he was funny and explained a lot of things to me. This was a good experience, but make sure to come with an empty belly because it’s a lot of food. Overall, recommended!
We have enjoyed the most amazing holiday experience with Lux and his team of guides and drivers spoiling us across 3 countries taking care of our every need . Lux even flew with us and helped us with our luggage. He was so so caring and supportive. Thank you Lux for a wonderful most memorable holiday across Bangkok, Cambodia and Vietnam. I wish we had more time to spend with you. We had the most amazing time and will certainly visit you again . Thank you
The tour started with a hotel pickup which was very much appreciated and we were introduced to our guide, Nak. We went to a couple of local restaurants and the local street market to sample a variety of Khmer dishes. Nak explained each dish in great detail, from how they were prepared and the history behind them and Cambodian food in general. All of the food was fantastic (have a light lunch if you want to get through it all) and I couldn't recommend this tour enough for anyone who wants to experience the local cuisine (there's even an opportunity to try crickets, frogs, etc if you're interested). Nak was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly which made this such a phenomenal experience. My brother and I are grateful to Nak for his excellent hospitality and definitely recommend this tour.
This tour includes pick up from the hotel. Bottled water is included throughout the trip. The guide, Mr Nak is very knowledgeable about Cambodian cuisine and culture. Highly recommended as he will bring you to places frequented by locals. Good to gain insight as food represent values, heritage and history of the Cambodian people.
Sothea was a great guide, introduced us to some amazing food. Would recommend this tour in eating at some great Khmer places, and learning of the history and culture. Go with an empty stomach!
Nak was a brilliant tour guide and took us to areas of Siem Reap we never would have visited alone. The food was delicious - chive cakes, beef skewers, savoury pancakes, fresh and fried spring rolls. I even tried frog, crickets and silk worms! We returned to the hotel with bellies full of food, and our minds full of wonderful experiences and memories. Do yourself a favour, and book this tour!
Amazing tour! Nak Chum, our guide took us to a variety of venues, from restaurants to street vendors. Nak was knowledgeable and entertaining. The experience was so much more than tasting the delicious foods Siem Reap has to offer. Highly recommended if you are visiting Siem Reap and looking for great food and great company.
This was the least satisfying of 3 different tours I took with Viator while in Siam Reap. Explanation required. Our guide was fantastic…fun loving, great English, and wonderful personality. However, the food options were really limited. We stopped at 3 locations. The first two we had one dish each. At the 3rd location, we were not interested in “fresh” (uncooked vegetables from the street vendor, and it seemed our tour was done. On the way back to hotel, we stopped at another street vendor for some prepackaged “desserts”. From the bit I know of food options in Siam Reap, our bill for food was probably about $5 per person. The advert for this tour says (10 Locals Tasting with Drinks…). As noted above, we stopped 3 time and picked up a package from 3rd vendor. We had water at one place, and pumpkin water at another. Nothing remotely added up to 10 tastings. When we said we did not want uncooked food from street vendors, it seemed there was no alternative. I have lived in Asia 20 years. I know what street food is like. They should have had alternatives…Siam Reap has lots of food options.
We had a wonderful last evening in Siem Reap tasting local food with our guide Mr. Nak! He took us to three very different places that we never would have found on our own, and the food was plentiful and delicious. Mr. Nak also told us interesting facts about the history of Cambodia as well as his own personal story. All in all a lovely and memorable evening and perfect finale of our Cambodia trip.
Lux was a great host. He not only showed us all kinds of amazing food, but taught us so much about the customs and daily life in Siem Reap. The food was delicious and Lux helped introduce us to foods we wouldn’t have picked out ourselves. He drove us to a few different neighborhoods which gave us an even better understanding of the city. We loved everything about our tour!
We did a food tour with Lux who was a great and very friendly guide. It was the perfect way to get to know the food culture of Cambodia a litter better. We were far away from the mainstream tourism and it felt very authentic an the food was delicious! Can hoghly recomend this tour!
Lux picked us up from our hotel and took us to our first stop. On the way we talked about, Siem Reap, the food, the people and some history too. Stop 1 were the beef skewers so tasty. Stop 2 the chive cake which is absolutely delicious. Stop 3 we tried a range of dishes and dessert as well as getting a glimpse into the lives of the Cambodian people. For us the conversation as well as the food made this a 5 star experience. Thank you Lux. Would highly recommend this tour.
Great evening food tour. Picked up right on time at our hotel and Lux did a great job of explaining everything we were eating. We went to three local spots that we never would have found on our own and everything was delicious! Highly recommend
Incredible tour with our guide, Lux, who was very friendly and super knowledgeable. It was the perfect introduction to Cambodia's food and its culture for the uninitiated outsider. We went to spots away from the tourist trail that we would never have found and ate delicious foods we would never have tried otherwise. Highly recommended.
We’re so glad we went on this tour, as we were taken to local food spots that we wouldn’t have visited otherwise and tried food we hadn’t eaten before. Our guide Lux was great, very knowledgable and friendly. It was a great way to experience the local culture.
