The Ultimate Angkor Wat Temple Private Day Trip

We booked our guide called Long for this tour because we had read such fantastic reviews about his tours. We are so pleased that we did! Long is extremely knowledgeable about Angkor Wat and all the other temples we visited. He is kind, patient, good humoured and speaks excellent English. The tour was unrushed and he knew the best place for us to see a stunning Cambodian sunset. The whole day was truly memorable. We would not hesitate to recommend Long.

Spent a fantastic day visiting Angkor Wat with my guide, Dorn. The spectacular experience started with a pick up from the air port, and the drive to the temple complex. We started off with the gate to Angkor Thom, and then drove to the actual Angor Thom complex. It was a great introduction, and Dorn knew absolutely everything about the architecture and the inscriptions. From there we moved to Baphuon, which had an amazing bridge/entry to the area. To the North we then traveled to see the area where the King had lived, and visited the Terrace of the Elephants. Next we saw Ta Phrom, the ruined temple. The rain poured down on us, but it was still an amazing place (though a bit jammed with tourists). Finally we made our way to Angkor Wat, but not before stopping off at Starbucks for a latte and some souvenir mugs. Angkor Wat is truly special and did not disappoint. We spent our time going through the extensive murals and climbing the stairs to the highest points of the temple. Just a spectacular place. Finally, Dorn got me packed up and off to the airport with plenty of time for a meal before my flight. I had a great trip with Dorn and am very thankful to have had such a wonderful guide. I'm looking forward to bringing the family back one day!

I booked with Oun for the Angkor Wat day tour because he had such positive reviews. After spending the whole day, with him I can confirm that the reviews are all 100% spot on. Oun speaks English very very well, has a plethora of cultural and historical knowledge to share, kept a great pace, and has a great sense of humor. He was extremely friendly and immediately easy get along with. I highly recommend booking with him if you're planning on visiting Angkor Wat because you will get so much more out of the mind boggling experience with him guiding you, rather than if you were to go alone or with someone else. Angkor Wat is a must see, and Oun will further enrich the adventure, making it an unforgettable experience! 10/10!

Long is the man! He is VERY knowledgeable about Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. He told us the history of the different temples and was patient when we asked questions. Since he is a former school teacher, you can really tell he has a passion for teaching. In the morning, Long met us at our hotel on time and knew the best spot for seeing the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Throughout the tour, he took great pics of us in scenic spots and his tuk tuk driver always had cold water available. He was a pleasure to talk to when traveling between temples and we learned about Cambodia and its more recent history. He gave us many good restaurants to try and even a recommendation for a private driver to Phnom Penh. Overall, we highly recommend Long for your next tour in Siem Reap!

Excellent tour of Angkor Wat and two other temples with car, driver and guide. Our guide Leap (pronounced with 2 syllables) was friendly, informative, and for any teenage girls being dragged along by their parents, very good-looking. This is a very effective way to accomplish what you came to Cambodia for.

I have never been so happy to write a review. Booking a tour with Long was a brilliant choice. He is extremely passionate and excellent at detailing all these interesting facts that we would have otherwise overlooked. His English is very good and he is excellent at telling stories. As we walked by other larger tour groups I was very glad that we booked a more intimate experience with Long. He is extremely friendly and caring and I would recommend him to anyone travelling to Siem Reap! Thank you for our day Long we will remember it for a long time.

Oun responded promptly to my messages and was waiting for us at our hotel reception ready to start the tour. He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the temples we visited and also gave us interesting information on the history of Cambodia. What was really good about having Oun as our guide is that he took his very nice, quality camera and took many photos of us which he shared with us via a card reader at the end of the tour. The photos were great, far better than the ones we took as we only had mobiles. I would definitely recommend Oun as he is everything you need in a tour guide and with the photos he took he offers even more.

We were on our second trip to Angkor Thom and so wanted to see some of the quieter temples. We’d had some suggested to us by a family member and asked Long if he could tailor a tour for these to last for about 4 hours. Long took us on a fantastic tour of the temples we wanted to see. He’d obviously prepared well as he shared lots of information and background to each one. He also gave us a good insight into Cambodian life and was the perfect guide. The cost of the tuktuk and unlimited water was included in the cost. He was the best guide that we had on all of the trips we did whilst on holiday in Cambodia and Laos.

Long is full of knowledge and a wealth of information. He made sure to engage all participants and accommodated to our schedule and requests. Just a wonderful person and we plan on using him again. Thank you Brother for everything that you do for Cambodia! We will see one another again!

Our experience was incredible. Long was an amazing guide who had great communication, picked us up from our hotel on time and made the day comfortable and enjoyable. Long had an amazing depth of knowledge about the temples and their history and this added so much to our experiences of the sites. We would have been wandering around aimlessly otherwise not knowing where to look. Long also structured the tour so that we weren’t too overwhelmed with other visitors and the temples visited all offered a unique experience. Long took care of the tuk tuk transport and water for us which also made the day enjoyable. Couldn’t recommend this tour more!

We booked the ultimate Angkor Wat temple day trip with one of the local guides and the day before the trip, they cancelled the booking without any explanation or attempt to reschedule the tour which was quite disappointing. I had to reach out to the local host who didn’t reply and then contacted the withlocals company for help. They did not help at all with booking another tour guide from the guides available, so we had to book a separate tour guide through our hotel as this was our last option. Not saying I wouldn’t book with them again but the customer service was very poor for this particular tour.

Excellent time visiting Angkor Wat with Oun. We saw and learned way more than we would have on our own. His way of talking about history was fun and we learned a lot about his culture. He took lots of pics of us and he got us to try red ants. Lol Highly recommend a tour with Oun!

We couldn't have wished for a better guide to visit the temples and watch the sunset. Mr. Long was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and the entire day was smooth and perfectly organised. Where most other groups seemed to be moving through important sections of the temples quickly, Mr. Long made sure to give us all the context needed to really appreciate the history depicted. I booked The Ultimate Angkor Wat Day Trip with DORN. He really knows his history and was able to answer any questions I had. He was on time at my hotel with the tuk tuk driver. The tuk tuk also provided water which is great for a hot day. When we were sitting and taking a break or driving, Dorn was pointing out general places and giving me the background story of the site which I enjoyed because it added more insight to my trip to Cambodia. We had the BEST time with him. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge about Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples, the history of Cambodia, and every intricate detail you can think of during your tour, he is also a delight to be around. We had a blast chatting about our different backgrounds (he learned English from Monks), family (a hard working rice farmer and family man), travel, you name it, it felt like we were with an old friend from the start. Logistics are a breeze for him - communications, transportation, photo taking, lunch time stop, navigating the busy sites, he was on top of the situation. Long, you are amazing!!!!

We visited Siem Reap ten years ago. This time we booked a tour with Long to see the temples arround Siem Reap again. Long is a very gifted guide and a very fine and friendly person. He refreshed our knowledge of the temples and told us quite a lot of new stories. His historic knowledge is excellent , as well as about religion and tales . We can warmly recommend him and will do so as well to our family and friends.

Excellent sunrise tour with Oun. He ensured we got to some great spots for photos that were slightly away from everyone else. Despite it being busy he found a fair few with no people in the shot. Great photo tips along the way. He also took photos himself and sent them to us the same afternoon. I may have to pretend they were mine! Tuk tuk transfers included iced water after each temple and ice cold towels. The breeze on the tuk tuk was probably better than car aircon! He took us to a great coffee stop for breakfast, and stopped for interesting roadside snacks on the way back. His English is excellent (you can tell he has a teaching background) and he's very knowledgeable about history and Cambodian life.

We did 2 tours with Long - Angkor Wat and a food tour. Both were great. Long is a wonderful host, very knowledgeable and gives great insight into the history of Cambodia as well as the daily lives of the Cambodian people today. Highly recommended. Thank you Long for your warmth and hospitality.

This was by far the best tour we had in Cambodia. Oun is so kind and knowledgeable, he took us to the best sites and the most secluded spots, so that often it was just us in the temples- even in Angkor Wat we managed to be completely alone thanks to Oun’s extensive knowledge! I stumbled over WithLocals when searching for a guide and a photographer in Siem Reap. Oun seemed to be a good choice and how right was I! He was fast with replies before my arrival when I had some, not always so relevant, questions. He picked me up at my hotel in the early morning hours before sunrise and with his driver brought me to Angkor Wat. It turned out to be perfect location for the sunrise photography! Throughout the morning he brought me to the right places, always one or two steps ahead of the tourist herd making my photography so much more pleasant. I had never imagined the chance to shoot without a lot of people around! A secluded temple where we were alone was a fantastic experience. And after each temple the driver was waiting with a bottle of cold water. I really can recommend Oun and his services! We had a fantastic tour of Angkor with Long. His in-depth knowledge of the temples, along with the history of Hinduism and Khmer culture, was intense but rewarding. By the end, we were able to recognize many of the stories carved into the temples, which made the experience even more meaningful. I highly recommand Pok as a guide, his energy and knowledge helped us understand and enjoy the complexity of Angkor's temples. We had a great trip seeing several sights over the course of 7 hours. Pok is a good story teller and very knowledgeable of the area - both history of the sites, the religions, and the country. As a bonus he is also a fantastic photographer!

We spend a very nice day with Mr Long and tuk-tuk driver. He was very kind and spoke English very well in a way that even our 2 youngsters understood him. He knew a lot about the history of the tempels. He is very honest and pleasant man, we recommend him for a private tour to visit the temples.

Had a great morning tour to Angkor Wat with Oun. He is very knowledge and accommodating, even managed to rearrange mid-tour to accommodate 2 of us who fell ill (dodgy meal the night before). Oun is also a good photographer and knew all the best spots to get good shots. We managed to get heaps of shots without tourists in them, which was a big bonus. All around great communication and organisation, would recommend to anyone.

Long quickly adapted and showed us temples that we wouldn't have seen otherwise, each more interesting than the last. We had a really fantastic tour with Long and his driver. Long was very friendly and knowledgable and happy to go around at a speed that suited us. We do not normally use day tours too often but felt we really wanted local knowledge and a guide to tell us the history of Angkor Wat. It was our first time using ‘With Locals’ and the experience was exceptional! Oun was a sensational guide! Oun has perfect English and his knowledge was incredible! The tour was exactly what we wanted for a day trip, the main areas in Angkotr Wat along with some hidden gems where there were no other people! To add to the day Oun is a professional photographer as well so took many pictures on his professional camera in perfect locations that he shared with us after the trip and they were incredible pictures and so memorable. Long was our host for the Angkor small circuit tour. He is an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of the history, culture and architecture of the Angkor temples is exceptional. He really brought the temple ruins alive with this shared knowledge and his stories. His pre-tour communication was clear and helpful. His English is excellent. It was extremely hot the day of our tour and Long was very kind and patient with our 10 year old, giving us lots of breaks and trying to keep us in the shade as much as possible. Our visit to the Angkor temples would not have been as meaningful nor memorable without his assistance. We highly recommend him as a guide.

Oun gave us a great tour, taking routes that avoided big crowds whenever possible. He told us about history, some things about life now, and took some great photos on his own camera and my phone. Afterwards, he shared his pictures of us on a Google Drive which is really nice. I recommend him as a tour guide.

This tour of Angkor Wat with Ngoun was a highlight of our trip. Going organised a great airconditioned vehicle and took us some fantastic temples. He was interesting and knew all the best places for photos. He was flexible with our itinerary and even organised iced coffees and a trip to APOPO rats. Fantastic tour! I highly recommend it

Oun was exceptional. He gave us the right amount of detail on the history of the sites, peppering it with humour. Took us to the main temples but also beautiful smaller temples where we were the only ones there. Oun is a phenomenal photographer and took lovely photos of our family, which are the best keepsake. He was also super patient when I needed technical help!! Furthermore the driver was great too, super chatty and had ice cold face cloths and drinks throughout the day, this was a game changer in the hot season! Highly highly recommend this duo for your Siem Reap tours!

Long was a terrific guide, very knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs, as well as his driver.He was very good at descriptions and also very good photographer. At the end on our way back to the hotel I asked to stop at an ATM for cash, the machine captured my card which was very annoying, Long and the driver went with us to a major branch and helped explain. We got the card back within a couple of hours. We learned a lot about Cambodia and its history. Very good experience.

We had a great time with Dorn. It was a very hot day so he was flexible and we started a couple hours earlier. He also helped to arrange a car so we could cool down between stops. He was full of great historical information and patient while we took photos of Angkor Wat and other temples. We recommend Dorn to anyone! I seldom write reviews .... but Oun, our "WithLocals" Tour Guide, definitely deserves our BIG Thank You for a great time at Siam Reap. I have met with many Tour Guides over the years. Yet Oun impressed me with his understanding of our requests & being able to tailor his trips to what we wanted ...... not just going through his routine routes. (This is our 2nd time to Siam Reap) I am a bit of a history & antiquity buff who love to ask questions. Oun definitely knows his stuff. He is a Local who grew up in the Angkor Wat Park, so he can offer a Local perspective. Yet he has met many foreigners over the years, hence he is used to communicating with foreigners. We had a great time with John at the Sunrise at Angkor Wat. He had been made aware in useful communications prior to our visit of my husbands limited mobility and made sure we were able to see as much as possible. The pick-up from the hotel was prompt, the car was very comfortable. We had a good supply of iced water and air conditioning. The restaurants we stopped at were spotlessly clean with delicious choices. John's knowledge was excellent and we fully enjoyed our time. He kindly agreed to drop us at the airport after our tour so that made the day very relaxed. I would highly recommend him.

Oun and his lovely tuk tuk driver picked us up super early to experience the sunrise over Angkor Wat, with a full tour of Angkor Wat and other temples. Oun was so easy to communicate with, full of passion, knowledge, and smiles all round during our tour. He made the entire experience engaging, easy, and incredibly informative. My hubby and I learnt so much from Oun and would highly recommend this local guide. When we return at the end of the wet season, we will make sure we contact Oun again to explore more of this beautiful region of Cambodia! 🙏
