Our guide Mr Nak was great. He took us to some fantastic local spots and we really got a feel for the food. He was very knowledgeable and adapted to our needs. Highly recommend him in the future

We had a wonderful time. The food covered a range of experiences. Our guide, Long, is very knowledgeable and sets the right pace. We highly recommend this tour.
Don't let Cambodian food scare you. Our guide Long was absolutely amazing. If you do this tour ask for Long specifically. He took us to the market and shared what to eat and what to avoid. Some highlights were Lort Cha and Chive cake from Family Rice Noodle & Chive Cake Restaurant. We liked it so much we went back a second time. Other delicious dishes were Fish Amok, street vendor waffles that have a coconut layer inside and of course spring rolls. He says to avoid the sun baked mini clams. Thank you Long for an exceptional food tour of your country.
My aunt and I had a one-of-kind and amazing experience with Mr. Long! He was so kind and patient. The selections of food he chose gave us a great understanding of what Cambodian is and everything was DELICIOUS and mouthwatering. From papaya salad to cashew nut chicken everything was flavorful and amazing. The other seven selections were just as delicious. Like I told my aunt, we’ve been waiting a LONG time to have food this good and Mr. Long did not disappoint! Thank you so much for your kindness and care with this tour.
What a pleasant experience with our knowledgeable guide, Long. He took us to places we would have never found on our own and really gave us a taste of what the local eat. Highly recommended.
Long was incredible! We really enjoyed our time on the tour and would recommend him to our friends. He was very attentive and always made sure we were comfortable while on the tour. Plus, he was great with follow-ups. For example, on the day of the tour, he contacted us early on to check if we had allergies and then again to make sure we knew he was waiting for us so we had precise information on how to meet up with him. The thing I loved about the tour the most was Long sharing his knowledge about the local food and ingredients of Cambodia. Not to mention, all the foods he introduced to us were just delicious! We actually went back and had more of some of the items he recommended.
We took this tour with Nak. He was great fun, informative and was able to adapt the tour to meet our wishes. A very enjoyable evening, tasting local people’s food. We would highly recommend.
Long was exceptional as our guide for the foodie tour. We enjoyed learning about the local food along with him sharing his knowledge about Cambodia. We really appreciated that he took us to local restaurants but also to the local food street where families from the area come to set up their street food stand. It was a truly amazing experience. And to also learn about how these families are trying to support themselves and their families. We would definitely recommend Long. It was a pleasure to get to know him
We really enjoyed our time exploring some of Siem Reaps food with Long our guide. He accommodated dietary requirements and provided a lot of I formation. Additionally Long is such a lovely man, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him and hearing about other aspects of his life.
Lots of different flavors. Not all were for me, but I’m kind of picky. There were enough good options. I didn’t go home hungry. Got to try food there was no way I would try on my own.
A must do evening tour. Our guide Bopha was amazing. She showed us several traditional Cambodian dishes we would never think of trying. We had already tried a few eating places by ourselves a few days earlier but with her explanation and the way the food should be enjoyed made such a huge difference in appreciating Cambodian cuisine. We actually went back to one of the eating places on our last day in Cambodia just to savour the food one more time before going home. A bonus on this tour is being driven around Siem Reap in a Tuk Tuk at night. Wonderful experience.
What an amazing Trip, we we're overwhelmed by all the different tastes and food experiences, the fantastic places and the kindness and expertise of our guide. If you ever come to Siem Reap, do this tour !!
Great guide showed us places we'd never have found otherwise.ovely food, especially the chive dumplings, warmly recommended.
Guide was a nice guy. Did not bring much energy to the tour. Spent a lot of time looking at his phone. We went to three places. We tasted 5 things unless you count a piece of bread. I truly hate giving a bad review. The food we had was good. I learned some things about the city. But I have been on a lot of food tours and this was the least impressive.
This was an incredible experience. We got to go to local spots to eat the best dishes, and local delicacies. We are a family of four, kids aged 7 and 10. 7 yo tried a few things, 10 yo tried everything and loved it. It was really nice to hear more details about how the food was made, and about the ingredients. We will be talking about this for a long time. Long is an amazing guide.
We had street food tour with Long It was fantastic He is very knowledgeable, friendly and polite We tried some amazing food and learnt about cooking,Kmer culture and life of ordinary people I can highly recommend Long to any travelers
Our guide Sothea was great. We taste really good food both at the city and in a local night market outside the city. Lot of food and delicious. We had a grest time
We had a fabulous tour with Long. Great range of foods to try, places we definitely wouldn't have thought to go to. He was informative about the food, the culture, the political landscape - gave us so much more that just great food. Especially loved that he took us to local places to eat local food.
This was just an ok experience. Our guide met us at the designated place and we went to three different locations. The first place had some really yummy grilled meat. The next two locations were, in my opinion, not very good. With that said, I really enjoyed the company of our guide. He was very nice, shared his background (which was very interesting) and was a great host. I just didn't feel like the food that we experienced was worth the cost of the tour. Others may disagree so, take the above with a grain of salt. Enjoy!
Guide was a no show, would highly recommend checking with operator the night before. Called the operator and he said he was “too far from the city, sorry”.
Thank you to Long for taking us on the food tour around Siem Reap. We loved visiting local street food places we wouldn’t have gone on our own, and hearing about Cambodian culture and food. Long also took us to a street stall where we could try some Cambodian desserts, and the Tuktuk driver was wonderful too.
I was on Street 60 and about two-thirds of the way through my street food tour with Long when we were hit by the first heavy rain of the season! The power was cut almost immediately, but even then Long "toughed it out" with me as I finished the dishes that had already been prepared by the light of our cellphones before calling it an evening (since the power remained off and the rain showed no signs of abating). Even though the main road was flooding by that point, he still managed to find a shop that was open and grabbed me a fresh coconut water on the way back to my room hotel. If I have the chance, I'll definitely return and try the tour again with Long... hopefully without the rainy interruption!
Meng was such a great guide! All of the food was so amazing and great to learn the local spots! Highly recommend and make sure you are hungry!
Tour guide did not seem terribly engaged. He had asked us to switch to a nighttime tour but our travel schedule did not allow for the change. The food was good but at times, not a lot of dialogue between him and us.
We did a private food tour with Long and a single day tour of Angkor Wat. Both were truly excellent experiences! On the food tour, Long took us to many local vendors and we got delicious food that we never would have found otherwise. As we ate and got to see the city, Long told us a lot about Cambodian life and culture. He also had great recommendations for other food spots to try the next day! The morning after the food tour we did a sunrise tour of Angkor Wat. Long gave a great tour of the main temple and also showed us several other smaller but equally cool temples. Long knew a ton of interesting history about the temples and had many great stories. We overall loved both of our tours. They were top quality. Long is also just a great guy and was a lot of fun to hang out with across our two tours. We would highly recommend booking with Long!!
Long provided an exceptional tasting tour experience for us. His hospitality was outstanding, and he greeted us with a warm smile. Long demonstrated remarkable patience and was willing to answer our numerous cultural questions, even those not directly related to food, which was greatly appreciated by our curious group. His extensive knowledge of the local cuisine, along with his openness to other cuisines and cultures, added depth to the tour. Despite the extremely hot weather that night, Long was incredibly considerate of my parents' well-being throughout the entire trip. Overall, Long's tour was a delightful and enriching experience, thanks to his expertise, friendliness, and attentiveness to our needs.
Thank you Long for a great evening. Long was very interesting and we got to experience food and parts of Siem Reap that we wouldn’t have without him. We highly recommend this tour - but make sure that you are hungry before you go!
We booked and paid for this tour in January. 1 month out we were advised our tour had been reallocated (because our chosen host was no longer available I guess, no reason given) to a new host, Samnang. Two days ahead, I contacted the host to confirm (lesson learned from tour bookings is ALWAYS confirm in advance. Don't trust auto booking confirmations). We got no reply, acknowledment or even an in-app indication that they had seen the message. I day ahead I contacted WithLocals directly to seek confirmation as the host had not replied. Our reply was a generic "your tour has been cancelled by the host". No explanation, no reason and no effort to reallocate the tour to another available host. (There was one who had a vacancy at the time our booking should have occurred.) Really disappointing customer service. We booked a different food tour with "Lost Plate" at short notice. We'd recommend booking with them instead. We won't ever book WithLocals again. It's pointless planning and booking things when they cancel at very short notice without explanation or compensation. (I we had cancelled within 24 hrs, we'd have been penalised.)
This tour went above and beyond expectations! Our guide, Dorn, helped us experience traditional local food where we truly were able to understand a bit of the culture. We were curious about other food along the way and he was more than happy to add to the experience. Apart from the main dishes that were planned, we went out of our comfort zones and tried some insects! It was definitely an experience I will never forget.
My fiancé and I had a lot of fun on this afternoon tour with Dorn. From eating delicious food from street vendor / local restaurants / markets, to visiting one of my favorite pagodas in Siem Reap, and navigating through the Old Market, were all truly amazing experiences. Dorn, who has great knowledge of the city/culture/food/religion, made the tour fun. Dorn also adjusted our tour time to ensure we would enjoy our beautiful walk around the city. I highly recommend booking with Dorn. :)
We had the good fortune to visit during Songkran and Dorn was a great champ about riding between destinations during a water fight!! Dorn was very friendly, knowledgeable, and great with our kids. We tried some good food, and asked to stop at the street stall selling all sorts of bugs so we could try those too. Dorn was great! Highly recommend this tour as an intro to Cambodian food and Siem reap.
Really interesting experience with our guide for the night Long. He took us to places for food that we would never have ventured to ourselves. What was the most interesting aspect of the night was actually getting an insight into the life of an average Cambodian guy. I would recommend this experience and my tip would be to do it in Day 1 in Siem Reep, and then use your experience for eating on subsequent days.
We had a most enjoyable afternoon walking the streets and markets with Long. He made sure to highlight all the traditional dishes from the area and showed us a... Date of experience: March 2024
Excellent job by Long in introducing us to the cuisine of Cambodia by taking us to locations we would not have found on our own. Long was very passionate and highly informative and we got to sample many delicious dishes. Highly recommended
A huge thank you to DORN who took us out for our food tour in Siem Reap. What a great experience. All of the food was great but more importantly, spending time with him (as a local) was so interesting and informative. The highlight of our evening was going to the food market that the locals eat at - we had already finished the official tasting but he also then stopped as we were leaving to let us try some fried frogs, crickets and silk worms which we had not eaten before but were delicious. For English travellers- if you like pork scratching then you will enjoy these too so give it a try! We travelled in a local Tuk Tuk from place to place and the journeys were all really comfortable and safe. All the drivers on the road were safe and courteous so a bonus. DORN was a lovely man to spend time with and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him as a guide. Thanks DORN x
Our group of 8 was very much looking forward to this tour. All the usual confirmation emails etc were received and we were eagerly waiting at the advised pick-up location. After about 20 minutes we knew something was wrong so I called the provided number and was then connected through to the Host of our tour. The tour was booked with Viator but being run locally via 'Withlocals' and the Host said he was tired of being contacted as he does not do this tour anymore and pretty much hung up on me. I called the call centre back again and they apologised and said we would be refunded. The one star is only because I can't rate 0 but also because the refund did come through within a few business days. Very disappointing to say the least ... We ended up on the side of the road and I was on the phone for 45 minutes trying to sort this out. Would I recommend this tour ... No!!!!
Long (his name) was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and willing to talk about all aspects of Cambodian food, life, history and culture. He took us by tuk tuk to a number of street food stalls that on our own we'd have walked straight past. Great opportunity to get to taste a variety of local dishes.
Long was our guide for our walking street food tour. He chatted with us and explained that he would be taking us by remok, which meant we got to sample more variety, including 60 Road. There was lots of variety (we tried 9 different foods, sugar cane drink, coconut water). Long explained the ingredients in the food and how it’s prepared, which was great. We enjoyed the mix of restaurant and street food.
Our guide - Long (his name) - was excellent. Great company, knowledgeable about the food but also about life in Cambodia. We were taken to some small restaurants that you'd probably walk by - food was excellent then by TukTuk to several more. Altogether a memorable tour that we both enjoyed. The tour was as advertised ++++
Great food trip - away from places we have been - interesting food and interesting facts about the areas We would not have found the places on our own or picked out this food so very good experience
My husband and I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide Dorn did a great job of explaining the different foods and making us feel comfortable. We love eating more like a local and Dorn delivered on that. The food was all very good.
Had an amazing and informative tour with Long as our guide. He took notice of any allergies or dislikes in advance and made sure all our tastings were memorable. Beware, there is a lot of food to eat 😊
We wanted to do a food tour in Siam Reap to learn more about the native foods within this country. After looking at different tours we chose withlocals and Long to be our tour guide. His English is very good but it is his passion about his country that really shines through. He explained all what we were eating and said his food tour supports local/native places which we loved. It was fun doing the tour with a private tuk tuk driver and although it was a food tour he gave us a lot of information about the Siam Reap area and Cambodia which was so informative. We had a lot of food to try and we never once felt rushed to move on to the next venue. We love to immerse ourselves into the culture of where we travel and food is always a delicious way to start. After the tour we asked him to recommend other places to try which he gave us about 6 other places to try. We tried 2 of them and absolutely loved it. We would recommend Long as your guide and would do another tour with him if and when we are back in Siam Reap.
Dorn was fantastic. I had a great time and learned so much. I’ll never forget my night in Siem Reap trying all the tasty Khmer food with this knowledgeable and interesting guide!
Dorn our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. He answered all our questions and made sure we were okay (for the less adventurous of us) with the food. And, he picked us up at our hotel. Thanks Dorn, it was great to meet you.
What a brilliant food tour. Long, our guide, communicated with us prior to the tour and met at the agreed meeting point. We began by exploring the local market, learning about the different foods that are eaten in Cambodia, as we went along we tried many different local delicacies from street sellers. We then went into local eateries, places we would never have found ourselves, to try more traditional dishes. Long is the perfect guide, he is knowledgeable, friendly and takes the tour at a relaxed pace. Just remember you need to go hungry as there are so many tasty things to eat!
Excellent afternoon to explore the food of Siem Reap. Dorn was a great guide and very informative about The food tastings as well as Cambodia in general. We would highly recommend this tour.
Learning about the best food in town is nice and will most likely revisit the same restaurants again
We were very pleased to do the Siem Reap local food tour with Long. He is a very pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable guide. We took an informative tour of the old market before he treated us to a broad range of local delicacies, more than we could eat. Long shared all sorts of interesting and useful information and provided us with a very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend a tour with this host.
Great value tour. Dorn was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The food was delicious and fantastic to view parts of the city I wouldn't normally see. Would recommend.
