We were delighted with our cooking class. The setting was beautiful and serene. We cooked a Cambodian curry, spring rolls, and dessert. We were taught by two great instructors and ended the event by eating our creations! Can’t wait to cook what I learned.

Awesome experience , surpassed expectations. The team were amazing. The market tour was great and we cooked a 3 course meals twigged by a Cambodian chef. Tranquil setting. Highly recommend
Had an absolutely amazing time with Sofia and Sina. Shopping, cooking laughing and eating. One of my favourite travel experiences ever. Very, very recommended.
I was a great experience. First we went to a real local market, then with a tuk tuk the beautiful location of the cooking class. The teachers were great at explains us the ingredients, the recipes and the cultural background grounds of the dishes. Finally we ate the dishes in a balcony with the view of the lake 10/10
This is one of the best cooking classes I have attended. I really feel confident I can repeat these dishes as I did every step in the class. This is hands on and watch your fingers. The staff are so kind and helpful. I really enjoyed myself.
Loved every minute of this experience from the friendly tuk tuk driver pick up (excellent English) to caring host/manager Sophia and head chef Sunat (??). Rather than cancel on me (the only booking) , they provided one of my best days in Cambodia. The market visit was interesting - learning about the different veges and how they flavour their dishes. And the cooking space was a lovely outdoor kitchen, spotless and professional. Both women were wonderful, gracious & caring ambassadors of their culture. I had a fabulous time, all the food was amazing and the recipe booklet the icing on the cake. Thank you/arkun. Highly recommend Beyond Tours. Just wished I’d booked direct on their website as Cambodian women work so hard to deliver an outstanding experience. Love to Kampuchea.
Great tour, transport was very easy and the market tour was super insightful. We were able to try some yummy local treats. The cooking class was also great, super relaxed pace and easy. Food was delicious!
So Amazing! I was picked up from my hotel and taken to meet the ladies at the market where they showed us different ingredients, giving us an explanation of the Cambodian culture and the food’s origin. We then went back to their cooking class and they went through each stage with us, demonstrating and then watching us do it. The place also had such beautiful scenery where we ate the meals we cooked. Honestly such genuine and lovely ladies working there, made me feel so welcome and safe especially as a solo traveller. Definitely recommend, such a beautful experience, Thank you! Xx
Sophia was amazing. She showed us the market and explained all about the food etc. Then we went to do the cooking class which was just fab, gorgeous place, made amazing food which Prey was brilliant at showing us how to cook the local dishes. Both ladies were so welcoming so we had a fab morning! Thankyou both
We were concerned about cooking in the heat but that was not an issue. This was one of the highlights of our holiday. The guide was knowledgeable and explained many interesting things as we toured the traditional market, gathering ingredients. Then, the place where the class is conducted was perfect for the job. The chef explained everything clearly and we prepared three course meal. After cooking we sat in a cool gazebo and had our meal served to us. Absolutely wonderful and I would recommend this to anyone.
An excellent experience. Sopheap was a superb guide and Prey did a great job showing me the dishes. I was the only person who'd booked that morning but they still went ahead. It's given me some new ideas for making curries. Very glad I did it.
Great cooking class with knowledgeable cooks great simple easy Explanations and worth the time to visit. We did with a group of 9 of us
Class started with a walk and chat through a crowded local market. Very interesting. Then class took place on an outdoor patio overlooking a beautiful little lake with turtles. Instruction in English was detailed and effective. Teachers were so friendly and helpful. Dishes of chicken curry , fresh spring rolls and sauce, and banana in palm sugar with coconut. All turned out great. They give you very nice cookbook with recipes. Highly recommend!
If you are reading this review - like me - before booking a cooking class in Cambodia, Siem Reap, you are scrolling through the many cooking classes on offer in Cambodia to get the best one. ! My advice is forget the rest, and try this cooking class. It is harder for find authentic experiences as a tourist these days. But this is definitely an authentic and fun experience in Cambodia especially, visiting the local market beforehand. Not only that you know that the money you spend on the cooking class is going to a grass roots business in Cambodia - which is really important. As a family this was a highlight of our trip. The cooking environment was safe and clean aswell which is important. Enjoy.!
We loved this activity! Sophia is so kind and helpful, Chef Prai is an awesome cook, and the the other guests were friendly. We learnt how to make three delicious recipes so lunch was a feast! Logistics and comms were clear and easy. Highly recommend a morning spent in this way.
This is a lovely experience! We met Sophia, our cooking leader, at the Siem Reap open air market and she took us on a walking tour of the stalls and showed us the vegetables, herbs and fruits of the region and bought some of the ingredients for the meal we would be making. Back at the open air cooking studio we were introduced to the chef who demonstrated each course before we made it. Each of us had our own station with knife, cutting board, mortar and pestle and burner and all the ingredients laid out on waiting boards. We pounded, sliced, diced and rolled our way through chicken curry, spring rolls and bananas in palm sugar, then sat down and enjoyed the results in a pleasant outdoor shady dining pavilion by a turtle pond. A complementary cookbook was included.
Our tour guide, Sophia, was phenomenal! First we toured a local market. Very authentic and NOT touristy. She explained to us how various items in the market are prepared and we even sampled a few items. After about 45 minutes, we went to the outdoor cooking class. The setting was beautiful. The chef and Sophia taught us how to prepare spring rolls, a chicken curry, and a banana dessert. All delicious. Especially enjoyed receiving a cook book versus a certificate (I mean, who needs a certificate!)
My daughters (17 years & 12 yeats) and I booked this cooking class before we travelled from Australia. It is on our highlight lost for Siem Reap. My youngest was a bit nervous about cooking but our host/guide Sophya and our chef/teacher Preya soon put those nerves to rest. The tour of the market with Sophya was very interesting and informative. After we grabbed some ingredients we went to the beautiful village where our cooking stations, utensils and ingredients were set out in an idyllic location right beside a small lake. We made rice paper rolls, chicken curry and bananas in palm sugar. Absolutely perfect flavours and great instruction from Preya and Sophya. We are our creations in a small pavillion right by the lake. It was really fun and the girls and I learned a lot. Sophya & Preya are both very kind and helpful and took great care of us. Our family highly recommends this tour, a really great experience.
Awesome experience. It was fun, we learned a lot and had a delicious lunch afterward in a beautiful setting. Our guide Sofir and our chef/teacher Pry (sorry for the name misspellings) were so professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We started our class at the market to purchase the ingredients and then made 3 dishes from scratch. We received a great cookbook to take home containing the dishes we made plus other traditional Cambodian recipes. Highly recommend!
We loved the setting, its quiet, at the pond with lots of greenery. Our option was vegetarian and we totally enjoyed it, it was a great introduction to Cambodian cuisine. We visited the market before and it was also very educational.
Great experience, amazing setting and staff very friendly! Would definitely recommend and do again. Food was delicious and all fresh ingredients :)
My boyfriend and I booked the cooking class and both of us were satisfied with the whole experience. First we went to the market and got some stuff. After a short ride with a tuktuk, we arrived at a pretty scenic place. While cooking, we had a nice view at the small lake right next to the building. The staff has been lovely and fun to talk to, and the time passed so fast. The food we did was amazing, and you get a cooking book to take home with even more recipes to try. Loved every minute there. Thank you so much!
Fantastic! I’m a foodie and home cook who has done a number of cooking classes around SE Asia and this is what made Beyond’s experience stand out: - The market is live, thriving, central, local, and Sophia took her time to walk me through, stop and examine, touch and smell produce, look at people making things, visit all parts of the market including parts that might make you queasy. Really appreciated her explanation and insights that come with people not having refrigeration, and cooking fresh every day. - The beautiful rural-ish lakeside training location with pristine kitchen and training setup with expertly trained chef included personal placements (own stove, cutting station, materials) like a real training situation - They were so hospitable, providing fresh cut fruit, pandan tea, cold towels and cold water throughout, in addition to all the food! - Lessons in knifing, grinding, and how to actually make the curry paste (most classes say ‘add this’ hunk of secret ingredient so you can’t replicate!) - I’ve already adapted 3-4 different skills from Cambodian cooking to my repertoire! - Learning cute culinary flourishes like making flowers from scallions, or adding decoration to your spring rolls - Personal support with sitting when tired, food prep, and aesthetically organizing things for pictures and videos to was fun and unexpected - they really do foresee your every need - Dining patio by the lake was so peaceful with full table set and service (seeing your food plated beautifully is a hoot!); huge fish flopped about, a huge bunch of geese flocked back and forth on the road behind me, and sometimes they said there are horses from the neighboring farm. - tuktuk ride to and from the market and training location and hotel was scenic and an experience by itself; navigating both fast highway lanes and pockmarked rural roads past scrawny cows… Definitely recommend! Can’t wait to see my new friends when I eat at the restaurant before Phare the circus (Pray is chef and Sophia serves there too!)
We had such an amazing cooking class with Chef Prey and her lovely assistant Sophai. Cooked 3 yummy dishes. We received a book full of Cambodian recipes as a souvenir. It was so enjoyable! We had so much fun. Thoroughly recommended! Do support them!
Had a really enjoyable cooking course!!!! The instructors were very friendly and attentive. The location was so picturesque and the food was amazing !! We learnt so much and had such a nice morning!
I loved the tour started in a market where you get to see how the locals shop and see the different food and herbs. The location is near water which offers a pleasant view that complimented the eating area very well. It was a lovely setup & experience.
Going to the markets was really interesting. Got to see all the different herbs and spices that go into Cambodian cook. The cooking was also fun. Do it!
Súper experience!! The authentic Cambodian market and cuisine. We went in family and cooked our own Cambodian food. Everything perfect!
I cannot recommend this food shopping and cooking class enough in Siem Reap. I am so glad I did it, as it was the absolute highlight of my trip to Cambodia. Sophia and Sinat were such talented chefs, the food was delicious and the surroundings to eat it were beautiful - by a private lake. It was fantastic to go round the markets and speak to the locals about all the ingredients - very cool.
We’ve been traveling for a couple of weeks in Southeast Asia, and this was one of the best tours that we did. The two hosts were delightful, and the food that we cooked was probably one of the best meals that we had. And our two teenage daughters loved it as well. We highly recommended!
Such a great cooking school where you actually get to do the cooking. Sopheap and Prey are wonderful. They help you step by step explaining what you are doing, how to do it, and all the spices and ingredients you are using. We started in the market where Sopheap explained all the various foods and talked about how they are used in Cambodian cooking. The kitchen is a beautiful space with fans to keep you cool and a lovely turtle pond to amuse you when not cooking. Everything is very clean. Before starting the class there were mangos and tea for refreshments. After the class, the food was beautifully plated an presented on a patio for dining on the food that had been cooked. A cook book was also provided with many Cambodian recipes to take home. I can highly recommend this class.
The market tour and shopping with Sofia was excellent, and the cooking class with she and Prey was great. Everything was well organised and professional and most importantly we learnt how to prepare and cook ( and eat!!) beautiful local food. Would give this six stars if I could.
Such an amazing experience! The ladies who ran it were funny, knowledgeable, very helpful, patient, and welcoming. They teach you about the cuisine and ingredients and guide you through every step. I learned so much and can’t wait to make these recipes at home. Could not have been a better experience!
An amazing experience and a must try if you are visiting Siem Reap. Seamless pickup and drop off from our hotel. Our guide and chef were very knowledgeable and friendly and really helped us to understand Khmer cuisine. The facilities are also very modern and situated beside a lake which was very peaceful.
These lady’s are fantastic a lot fun and the really know there food! I have done a lot of classes true out Asia, because I am chef and want to learn new cuisine. And this course was one of the beter ones. So good job lady’s! And keep up the good work Thank you for the lovely day 😘
An informative tour of the local open market, with detailed expanations and plenty of photos. The destination for the class was impectable. Clean and fully stocked. The instructor is a 'master chef' that has worked at several local hotels and professionally trained. I enjoyed personal attention and instruction for techniques. The food was delicious. I was impressed with the English skills from the tuk-tuk driver to the instructor. I'd definitely recommend this activity.
The food was amazing, and you got to cook everything yourself it was really hands on. The chef was super helpful and knowledgeable. My guide Sophia was so knowledgeable and took you into the markets and could tell you all about the produce Cambodian life and more. She gave me a personal insight into Cambodian life. The tuk tuk driver hav lim I ended up using for my whole stay in siem reap. He has so much knowledge about Cambodia and hearing his stories is something I will never forget. He organised a private tour for me to ankor watt . The tour was out of this world and the tour guide also had stories I will never forget . This tour has far exceeded my expectations. If you are coming to Cambodia and like cooking this tour Is a must!! And if you want an amazing knowledgeable driver hav lim is the man ! Also I forgot to take pictures of the desert and I half started eating my curry before I remembered . You can tell the food is amazing cause I didn’t even wait to get a picture 😂 I just devoured it
A very well organized and interesting activity. Lots of new foods to try. Lovely staff who were kind helpful and knowledgeable. Good pick up and drop off service. Excellent food. Highly recommended.
What a great time! Our host was so friendly and funny. The village tour was amazing and the cooking was brilliant - super fresh ingredients and heaps of laughs. This is a great way to see the life outside the tourist spots and learn more about Cambodia - with amazing food to enjoy!
What a great experience from beginning to end. I have done a lot of cooking classes in a lot of countries and this one was one of the best. The two women were professional, knowledgeable and talented. The market visit and cooking venue were so interesting! The tuk tuk pick up and drop off was convenient and punctual. I’m so glad I chose this class!
So glad we did the cooking class which was a great experience and we learnt so much! The tour of the market was also very informative and seeing the local food. The food was excellent and we were very happy that we had prepared it (with lots of help from our wonderful teachers of course!). We will definitely try those recipes when we get home too!
This is one of the best excursions I have ever done in 30 years of global travel. Sophia was amazing and the chef on site attentive and knowledge. It was like entering an oasis - the location in stunning, facilities clean and modern and the menu delicious. Highly recommended
Fantastic market tour and Cambodian cooking class, highly recommend to anyone in Siem Reap! Our guide and cook were both so knowledgeable and the food was delicious, can’t wait to cook Khmer food for our family and friends!
Tour of market and cooking class was a great experience! Sophie was a very knowledgeable and fun guide. The three courses of food we prepared were all delicious.
I took this class 4 years ago and enjoyed it so much, I decided to spend my birthday here this year. What a fantastic gift to myself! We had so much fun! The food is excellent, Prey and Sopheap kept us laughing and learning - engaged in the whole wonderful experience. The steps are simple enough for a beginner, and the flavors complex enough for a seasoned foodie. The kitchen is outdoors - calming and relaxing. I highly recommend. Treat yourself
This was a fantastic experience for our family. The instructors are incredible and very supportive. I highly recommend this cooking class.
This cooking class and market visit were some of the highlights of our holiday. The staff were amazing, they first took us through the local market and showed us different fresh ingredients and explained how these are used for cooking by locals. When we arrived at the location, which was a beautiful farm overseeing a lake, everything was carefully prepared, ready for us to start. We were welcomed with refreshments and we were then guided through the steps of cooking 3 dishes with lots of attention to detail. The ladies teaching us were a high class example of skill, knowledge and patience, as well as humor. They couldn't have been more gracious. At the end when the dishes were ready, were were served in the beautiful setting and were taken care of throughout, receiving also a lovely recipe booklet. We would absolutely highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in a truly local Cambodgian experience.
Great class. A tuk tuk driver picked me up at the hotel on time. We started with a visit to a local market and then to a very nice setting for the class. Very well organized. Very friendly.
This was such a great experience! Sophea and the chef (I can’t remember her name) were so kind, attentive, and just lovely people in general. The food tasted amazing and they were great at correcting our techniques haha. There was a really nice, laidback vibe - for example we stopped for a bit to feed the turtles which was so cool.
100% recommend. Lovely staff, interesting markets and a beautiful setting to learn how to cook some delicious local meals. Will be enjoying them again at home!
