Pal, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. It was an amazing tour. We visited several temples and learned so much about them.

Itinerary
We begin with a pre-dawn departure (4.30 to 4.45am depending on the time of year) from your hotel for sunrise outside Angkor Wat. Enter the great temple in darkness from the little-visited eastern side, and creep along hoary cloistered corridors past the longest stretch of bas-relief carvings in the world.
Enjoy breakfast and relex after sunrise at a local restaurant
One of the most atmospheric of all temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm today looks much as it did in the early 1850s, when French explorer Henri Mouhot ‘rediscovered’ this crumbling site. After exploring the maze-like interior of Ta Prohm, return to your hotel after a long but fulfilling day, which will leave you with a lifetime of memories of one of the wonders of the world.
The 350m-long Terrace of Elephants was used as a giant reviewing stand for public ceremonies and served as a base for the king's grand audience hall. It has five outworks extending towards the Central Square-three in the center and one at each end. The middle section of the retaining wall is decorated with life-size garuda and lions; towards either end are the two parts of the famous parade of elephants complete with their Khmer mahouts.
Angkor Thom is the majestic site once served as the Khmer Empire's glistening capital city. Take a moment to consider its grandiosity before venturing inside the city. Arriving at the temple at Bayon, appreciate its beautifully crafted central towers covered in more than 200 enormous faces.
The south gate of Angkor Thom is the best preserved. It is approached from outside via a causeway that extends about fifty meters across a moat. On each side of the causeway are railings fashioned with 54 stone figures engaged in the performance of a famous Hindu story: the myth of the Churning of the Ocean. On the left side of the moat, 54 'devas' (guardian gods) pull the head of the snake 'Shesha' while on the right side 54 'asuras' (demon gods) pull the snake's tail in the opposite direction. In this myth, the body of the snake is wrapped around the central mountain—Mt. Meru—perhaps corresponding here to the Bayon temple at the center of the site. In any case, the myth relates that as the Devas pulled the snake in one direction and the gods pushed in the other, the ocean began to churn and precipitate the elements. By alternating back and forth, the ocean was 'milked', forming the earth and the cosmos anew.

We did a private tour with Journey Cambodia to a selection of Angkor Wat temples with Sam as our guide and Da as our driver. Sam got us to a great vantage point for the sunrise over Angkor Wat, which was a peaceful place for Sam to share his knowledge of the temple until the hoards of big bus tour patrons arrived. Recommend sitting on the lower step so that these late arrivals can't sit in front of you and spoil your photos. We negotiated with the operator to extend the normal tour length for a small additional charge, which enabled us to set our own itinerary in consultation with Sam. We visited Angkor Wat, Pre Rup, Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm and Angkor Thom (Bayon Temple, Terrace of Leper King, Terrace of the Elephants) in a 10 hour day. Sam efficiently guided us through each site, highlighting the history, features and carvings. His depth of knowledge and pride in his country's heritage was amazing. We saw and learnt lots, but never felt rushed. Da looked after us with a refreshing cold towel and bottle of water each time we rejoined him at the car. We would highly recommend a private temple tour with Sam, Da and Journey Cambodia.
Sak did a great job of showing us Angkor Wat and the neighboring temples, explaining the historical context, and showing us the small details in design. Very pleased with this tour. Vichet drove us safely and provided water and wet towels after every stop, much needed.
We had an amazing day and tour with Mr. Bun and Mr. Sambath! We booked a full day sunrise tour of Angkor Wat and several other temples with them and learned so much about the incredible Angkor Archeological Park and its history. Bun and Sambath are an exceptional team, and we were very glad we chose to book a tour with Journey Cambodia, as it made for a much richer experience to Angkor Wat and the other temples we visited. We highly recommend them, and Journey Cambodia.
A fantastic day! Sol was such a fabulous guide - not just about the temple, but also about his life in Cambodia and Cambodian history. Fantastic man. Great driver too - very safe and the cold towels on every return was such a treat!
We had an amazing experience thanks to Journey Cambodia! Me, my mother and brother got to tour with the amazing Mr. Bun and Da! They were the nicest people and very well educated on temples. There was no rush, we got to see everything and detailed information on what we were looking at. Ask for Bun! He speaks very good english! 10/10 highly recommended!
Ra was a helpful, interesting guide. Who knew lots of history and information.
My family and I had an amazing tour of the temples in Siem Reap, if you're visiting this area in Cambodia you CANNOT miss this tour. Our guides Bun and Da were so knowledgeable and accommodating. We felt extremely welcomed and their skills with a camera were unmatched! We got the most amazing pictures at the temples and they took great care to make sure we were going at a comfortable pace for my mom who has a bit of pain walking. The three temples we visited were so unique and picturesque, I've never seen ones like them in other countries. I would absolutely rebook this tour and bring more friends along when I visit again!
We had an absolutely fantastic experience touring the Angkor temples, thanks entirely to our guide, Sak, and our driver, Dara. Sak’s knowledge of the history and culture is incredible. His explanations during the tour really brought the ancient ruins to life, and he knew all the best spots for photos while avoiding the crowds. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We also have to give a huge shout-out to our driver, Dara. The hospitality was outstanding. After walking around in the heat, returning to the car to find cold water, refreshing cold towels, and amazing air conditioning was a lifesaver. Dara was always waiting for us with a smile and made us feel incredibly safe on the roads. Thank you both for a 5-star experience. If you are looking for a tour team in Siem Reap, look no further! -
Highly recommend - your guide was extremely knowledgeable and shared lots of insights into the history of Cambodia and the Cambodian people. The tour was well paced - allowing for enough time to see in detail the many sights and temples and also allowing for small breaks and refreshments to break up a hot day. We did the sunrise tour which was magical and really helped to beat the heat of the day. Tour bus driver was great and considerate - always greeting us with a cold towel and bottle of water between each stop. Great advice for the best places to get photos too! We travelled with my parents (late 60s) and kids (10 and 13) and the tour had something for all of us.
Booking was quick and easy and we got a response via WattsApp quite quickly, confirming everything. They also sent out tips and all the links on WattsApp for booking the temple pass (not included in the tour price). Our guide: Bun, was waiting for us in the hotel lobby a few minutes earlier than planned at 4.40 am and took us to the minibus (despite it being a private tour for my hubby and me). It was comfortable, cool and clean. He introduced us to the driver: Vireak, and explained the plans for the morning. The weather was wet, warm and humid and they'd brought umbrellas for us all. The only one improvement that they could have made would be to provide torches as it is very dark before sunrise and the temples have lots of uneven paths and steep steps. We picked this tour specifically as we didn't want to be held up by a larger group. So glad we picked this as we sailed past many other large tours and took quieter routes. Bun also painted out some really good photo opportunities that I noticed the larger groups were missing out on. After the first temple (Angkor Wat) where we didn't get the lovely sunrise we hoped for due to the rain and clouds, but was still stunning, Vireak met us at a different gate to where we started (the benefit of having a separate driver) wig water and a cold towel, and took us to a place for breakfast where they did lovely coffee but also allow people to take their own food with no hassle to buy anything. We did take a breakfast box from the hotel but but coffee and a smoothie. The next 2 temples had similar experiences with Bun taking excellent photos of hubby and I.and telling us all about the history, both ancient and modern and finally took us back to the hotel. In summary, we rarely book tours, preferring to arrange everything at our pace but we had limited time at Siem Reap and this trip worked perfectly for us, being able to see 3 main temples (and a few brief photo stops whenever we wanted). The price was excellent (not the cheapest but far from the most expensive) as were our driver and guide, the vehicle was comfortable and clean and they provided water and fresh, cold face towels each time we got back in the bus. The added bonus of us not having to find anything out and navigating areas we were unfamiliar with made our brief trip much more enjoyable and less rushed. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything about the rain!
Our guide Bun spoke excellent English and knew all the details about Angkor Wat and the 3 temples we visited. It was an early morning start but worth it to avoid the crowds and heat. Bun was great at ensuring we got as much information as we wanted and went at our pace. The car was clean and good with the driver Vireak dropping us off very close to each temple and also picking us up very close after each temple. Vireak after had cold towels for us after each stop. Bun positioned us at a great spot for the sunrise but unfortunately it was cloudy but we got some good photos. Overall a great experience, enhanced by Bun and Vireak, especially as it was a tour just for my wife and myself.
We had the absolute best day visiting Angkor Wat at sunrise, Bayon, and Ta Prohm! The temples were awe inspiring, but what made the day truly special was how well taken care of we were by our guide, Mr. Sak, and our driver, Mr. Sambath. Mr. Sak is a fantastic guide, he was so kind, attentive, and explained the rich history of each site so clearly and passionately. Mr. Sambath was equally wonderful, providing safe, smooth transportation and keeping us comfortable and cool between stops. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Cambodia!
Great trio with Pal Saruon and Sambath the driver. Pal knows the history extremely well. He also guided us to less crowded places for photos .
Our tour was absolutely perfect. Our guide was very knowledgable and considerate - he could not have been better. The tour was well paced and met our every need. Truly deserving of a 5 star review!
The trip was great Sopheap Rath ( our tour guide) and Naro were very knowledgeable and helpful and made sure the walk us through all the details of the temple. Would definitely recommend them.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sopheap Rath (our tour guide) and Sambath (our driver) during our Cambodia trip. Both of them were extremely friendly, welcoming, and provided us with the best hospitality throughout our journey. Sopheap was a fantastic guide who gave us detailed and interesting insights into the history and culture of Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, Elephant Terrace, and Angkor Thom. His knowledge and explanations made every place we visited much more meaningful and enjoyable. Sambath was an excellent driver—punctual, polite, helpful, and always ensured that we travelled comfortably and safely. Their professionalism, warmth, and genuine care made our entire experience smooth and memorable. We are truly grateful to both of them for making our visit so special. Highly recommended Sopheap and Sambath to anyone visiting Cambodia! 🇰🇭❤️
We had a guided tour by Sam and his driver Da! It was just amazing, he showed us the best spots instead of all the tourist spots! It was impressive how much knowlegde Sam had on both the temples as well as the Khmer history. I would recommend him for sure! A 10/10 experience. And he was a great cameraman as well!!
Sok was an exceptional tour guide for our Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour. He is very knowledgeable on all the temples and sites we visited and of Cambodian history generally. We lucked out by being the only guests on our small group tour. He answered all of our questions with professionalism. The tour was also super helpful with transporting us to and from all the sites. Definitely recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Angkor Wat at sunrise.
Great experience and great tour. Sam and Naro were excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly. Recommended.
Very good experience, really recommend it.
This tour was awwsome! Watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat was absolutely breathtaking, but what really made the day unforgettable was our amazing guide, Sam, and our driver, Mr. Ha. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. As we walked through the temples, he shared fascinating stories and historical details that brought each place to life. He also planned the route perfectly, making sure we avoided unnecessary walking in the heat while still seeing all the highlights. We learned so much and enjoyed every moment. Mr. Ha was equally fantastic. He was always there waiting for us at each temple exit with cold water and refreshing towels, which made such a difference during the day. It is a must do experience!
Sam was a great tour guide who took us to a great spot to watch the sunset overlooking Angkor Wat. Seeing the different temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, and Ta Prohm was amazing. Sam had a lot of details to share and made it interesting with his story telling. He even added some details about the culture of Cambodia which was nice to learn. He's also great taking photos and knows all the good spots. I highlight recommend this tour! To top it off, our driver Ha was amazing and so attentive. Every time we got on the bus he had a cold towel and water ready for us.

Great value for this tour. Provided water and cool rags after each temple. Chhay was very knowledgeable and great at taking photos. The driver was very helpful. Great experience
A bucket list item! ✔️ Thank you to our informative guide - Sopheap Rath (tour guide) - and capable driver - Seyha.
Such a great tour with a wonderful guide, sopheap rath, who looked after us all day long. It’s a very early start but he made sure we were in the ight place at the right time to ensure magical photos of sunrise. His knowledge of all things Cambodian ensured with learnt so much about Angkor and Cambodia. Thoroughly recommend and ask for sopheap!
Had a very good experience with journey cambodia. The guide (Mr.Sam) was very patient and amicable. The knowledge shared helped in understanding Angkor wat more. Overall a good and pleasant experience.
Chhay is a helpful, knowledgable and humorous guide. I enjoyed hearing from him share about the Khmer culture, royal family and personal experiences. He also knows the secret spots to take good photos. 100% recommending him to take me on a different temple tour next time. Thank you Chhay for this unforgettable experience
Guide Chay was honest and helpful guide. He gave us tips on where to take the best photo shots. He was informatve, explaiing about Khmer culture and history.
Our experience with Sam was absolutely exceptional. He was not only an incredible guide, but a true professor of Cambodian history, culture, and spirituality. There was not a single question he could not answer his knowledge is truly impressive. Beyond that, Sam is kind, patient, warm, and made the entire experience feel deeply special. He also takes the most beautiful photos and knows exactly how to capture memorable moments throughout the sunrise tour. I can genuinely say this was the best guided tour experience I have ever had in my life. If you are visiting Angkor Wat, you would be very lucky to have Sam as your guide. Thank you again for such an unforgettable experience.
We had a wonderful experience with Mr. Sok Chea. He was very friendly and knowledgable and I would recommend him to anybody looking for an Ankor Wat tour.
I had a wonderful experience with Mr. Sok Chea. Sok was not only very informative, but also made very personable as well. The Angkor wat tour was beautiful and awe inspiring. We then went to buoyon temple and this was just as amazing! Sok was the best and will highly recommend this tour and Sok to others!
Our group had an amazing tour with our guide, Sok. Sok was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and fun, and gave us a tour of the many historical sites of the Angkor area. 10/10 would recommend and do again!
Sam was a terrific and knowledgeable guide taking us to the key temples at Angkor Wat. He knows some great photo spots and took some amazing photos. He answered so many of our questions and gave us some great insights into Cambodian history, religion and its people. Da was a great driver, magically appearing to pick us up from different spots with a welcomed iced water and cold towel several. Sunrise at Angkor Wat is magical and we highly recommend Sam & Da.
We had a fantastic Angkor Wat tour from start to finish. The pickup was on time, the itinerary was well planned, and we got to see the best highlights without feeling rushed. Our guide SO was knowledgeable about the history and answered all our questions with amazing photos throughout. Sunrise at Angkor Wat was unforgettable, and the rest of the temples Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom, Bayon Temple were equally stunning. Our driver SAMBATH made us feel comfortable in the scorching heat at all times. Excellent service, highly recommend Journey Cambodia! Best tour we booked in Siem Reap!
Amazing experience, Mr So is an exceptional tour guide providing a plethora of insightful facts and details about the history of the temples that we visited. Highly recommend, one of the most beautiful experiences you can enjoy! Sambath was our amazing driver (and water provider)!
We truly enjoyed our sunrise tour! Our guide, Sopheaprath, was wonderful — so knowledgeable about his culture. Our driver, Dara, went above and beyond by offering cold water and towels whenever needed, which made our experience even better. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Siem Reap!
This tour checked off the three main temples that we wanted to see, but on top of that we had an excellent guide and driver. Sorphorn was very attentive, organized and knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about the temples and Cambodia in general. Angkor Wat at sunrise is worth the early wake up call! I’m glad our guide kept us comfortably seated while we waited for the sunrise and knew the best places for pictures.
A good Guide with a good german translation. Thank you so much.
We had an excellent morning tour of Angkor Wat and surrounding sites with Bun and Naro. Bun took us to a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise over the water and then guided us through this incredible site and explained the history of this place and of life in Cambodia. We appreciated the air conditioned transfer and cold water as we went from site to site. It was very hot out. Bun and Naro allow s us a o tailor the tour to our interests which we appreciated. Definitely the way to go is a private morning tour!
Cambodia trip was an unforgettable experience made truly exceptional by our guide Mr Sak. He was very knowledgeable, sharing rich history, culture, and local insights that brought every destination to life. Overall, this tour exceeded our expectations and the guide and driver Dara played a huge role in making it so memorable highly recommend for anyone wanting a deeper moon meaningful experience in Cambodia. Our Guide also took a wonderful photos of us to remember our trip by.
Angkor was so wonderful and our guide, Pal Saruon, simply fabulous.
Myself and my husband had a fantastic experience on the sunrise tour of Angkor Wat with Bun (guide) and Vireak (driver). Bun is a true professional, a fountain of knowledge on all things history, and was happy to answer all the questions we had. I am a hobbiest photographer and Bun made sure we reached the viewpoint for Angkor Wat ahead of the crowds so that I could set up in the best location. He was very patient, and at no point did I feel I was under pressure to wrap up and move on. He made sure we got exactly what we wanted from the tour and offered to take many photos of us along the way. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, air conditioned and we were very grateful for the cold face towels provided by Vireak in between stops. I highly recommend booking this tour if you want a top class, personalised experience. It was the highlight of our trip.
The guide Chhay led us professionally, was friendly and ready to answer questions. We learned a lot of new things. It was tiring walking in the heat, we got water on the bus, unfortunately we didn't see the sunrise because of the clouds.
Angkor Wat was great. Tomb Raiser temple was also really beautiful. A good half day tour
We arrived at Angkor Wat before 5:00 a.m., so that we could witness the monument at sunrise. Our guide spoke good English, and taught us quite a bit about Cambodian history. He also took great photos of us. We toured the three main temples, and lunch at a local restaurant. Transportation was provided to and from our hotel. We wished our time in Cambodia was longer, and would definitely recommend this tour!
We had the most amazing sunrise tour with Bun and Vireak. The pick up was punctual, the transport was clean and comfortable with plenty of water, cold face towels between stops and most importantly good air con. Bun is an exceptional tour guide, patient, informative, well spoken and truly passionate about his job. He ensured we had the perfect postion to photograph the sunrise, and help us take as many photos as we needed. Just tell Bun you want seat 1!!, he'll get you there first. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
Highly recommend taking up the private sunrise tour. We arrived at Angkor Wat around 5am. It takes you to see Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom, Angkor Thom, and Bayon temple. Tour ended at 11am right before it gets too hot. My guide Mr Sophearath and driver Mr Bun were both excellent and very professional.
Just completed a fantastic two day tour of Angkor Wat, brilliantly organised, very knowledgeable and informative tour guide (Sopheap Rath) who added in some humour, where appropriate. Bus driven in a very safe and comfortable manner by Chet, who kept us supplied with ice cold water and cold flannels (thanks and just what we needed). Saw the sunset at Bakheng temple after visiting 4 other (all different styles) of temples and the sunrise at Angkor Wat (early start but well worth the effort) followed by the Indiana Jones temple and two others - great fun.
