The south gate of Angkor Thom is most popular with visitors, as it has been fully restored and many of the heads remain in place. The gate is on the main road into Angkor Thom from Angkor Wat.
The Bayon temple was built nearly 100 years after Angkor Wat. The basic structure and earliest part of the temple ate not known. Since it was located at the Centre of a royal city it seems possible that the Bayon would have originally been a temple-mountain conforming to the symbolism of a microcosm of Mount Meru. The middle part of the temple was extended during the second phase of building. The Bayon of today belong to the third and last phase of the art style. The Smiling Face at Bayon, the architectural scale and composition of the Bayon exude grandness in every aspects. Its elements juxtapose each other to create balance and harmony and there are more then 200 large faces carved on the 54 tower give this temple its majestic character.
Angkor Thom is undeniably an expression of the highest genius. It is, in three dimensions and on a scale worthy of an entire nation, the materialization of Buddhist cosmology, representing ideas that only great painters would dare to portray
Baphoun is the temple stands on a rectangular sandstone base with five levels that are approximately the same size, rather than the more common form of successively smaller levels. The first, second and third levels are surrounded by sandstone galleries. Baphuon is the first structure in which stone galleries with a central tower appear. Two libraries in the shape of a cross with four porches stand in the courtyard. They were originally connected by an elevated walkway supported by columns
Phimeanakas temple is situated near the center of the area enclosed by the walls of the Royal Palace. It must originally have been crowned with a golden pinnacle, as Zhou Daguan described it as the Tower of Gold The temple is built of roughly hewn sandstone blocks and has little decoration
The elephants are ridden by servants and princes, and tread as quietly as if they were on an excursive promenade. The steps of even length have no respect for any obstacle. The forest in which they travel in impenetrable to all but tiny creatures, able to squeeze their smallness between the fissures of the undergrowth and to the biggest animals, which crush chasms for their passage in the virgin vegetation
The terrace of the Leper King carries on the theme of grandeur that characterises the building during Jayavarman VII's reign. It is faced with dramatic bas-reliefs, both on the interior and exterior. During clearing, the EFEO found a second wall with bas-relief similar in composition to those of the outer wall and some archaeologists believe that this second wall is evidence of a late rites, two meters wide of laterite faced with sandstone. It collapsed and a second wall of the materials, two meters wide, was built right in front of it without any of the rubble being cleared. Recently, the EFEO has created a false corridor which allows visitor to inspect the relief on the first wall
Ta Nei is a late 12th century stone temple in Angkor, Cambodia. Built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, it is near the northwest corner of the East Baray, a large holy reservoir. It was dedicated to the Buddha.
Ta Prohm is the undisputed capital of the kingdom of the Trees. It has been left untouched by archaeologists except for the clearing of a path for visitors and structural strengthening to stave of further deterioration. Because of its natural state, it is possible to experience at this temple the wonder of the early explorers when they came upon these monuments in the middle of the nineteenth century. Shrouded in dense jungle the temple of Ta Prohm is ethereal in aspect and conjures up a romantic aura. Fig, banyan and kapok trees spread their gigantic roots over stones, probing walls and terraces apart, as their branches and leaves intertwine to form a roof over the structures. Trunks of trees twist amongst stone pillars. The strange, haunted charm of the place entwines itself about you as you go, as inescapably as the roots have wound themselves about the walls and towers.
Angkor Wat, the largest monument of the Angkor group and the best preserved, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, relief's and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world. It is generally accepted that Angkor Wat was a funerary temple for King Suryavarman II and oriented to the west to conform to the symbolism between the setting sun and death. The bas-reliefs, designed for viewing from left to right in the order of Hindu funereal ritual, support this function
Phnom Bakheng is the highest temple in the Angkor Archeological Park, offering the best panoramic views of the whole area. Phnom Bakheng is a temple mountain in honor of the Hindu god Shiva and one of the oldest temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park

Excellent tour, highly recommend! The guide and the driver were very nice and knowledgeable (Art and Leap)
Our guide Sara and Titye our driver provided a brilliant and informative day out for us touring Angkor Wat and surrounding areas. Sara has such great knowledge and answered all our questions. We were well looked after and treated extremely kindly and professionally. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
Absolutely loved the tour, saw some amazing temples and the highlight was angkor wat at sunrise. Tour guide picked the best spot for me in the dark. Thank you so much for this.... the driver was also a star with cold water and a cold towel if needed.... Fantastic tour *****
We had an amazing 1.5 days of touring Ankor sites on tuk tuk with a driver and English -speaking guide. The operator sent us a detailed and personalized itinerary in advance so we knew what to expect. Our driver Titay and tour guide, Sara were waiting for us at our resort on the dot. We were driven to the ticket office and had the admissions tickets issued for us by our guide. Titay was friendly, very kind and patient with us and provided cool towels and refreshments each time we returned from a temple. We are especially grateful we had Sara as our guide. Sara spoke very good English and made sure to give us the history of each of the 15 sites we visited. His friendly and polite manner made us feel at ease, and his love and enthusiasm for his country came across immediately. Both Titay and Sara kept us safe, comfortable and excited throughout the trip. We had a wonderful experience and would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to others who wish to experience Angkor in the best way possible!
A wonderful day. Private tour with guide who was outstanding. His English language and knowledge were excellent. He was polite, lovely company and made our trip extremely memorable.
Leap is a wonderful tour guide. He and his drivers arrived right on time. Leap is very knowledgeable and thoughtful. His Englisg is perfect! We really appreciate him sharing Cambodian history and temples with us. We would highly recommend him and feel certain that he will be very successful in his future endeavors!.
Mr. Leap was fantastic. The stories he shared and the sites we were able to see made this a trip of a lifetime. We would definitely recommend him and our Tuk Tuk drivers. Wonderful day and we will be sharing the experience with friends and encouraging them to come to Cambodia.
We had an awesome time visiting Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. Our tour guide, Sare, was excellent and really made the whole experience worth it. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history, temples, and Cambodian culture. He explained everything really well and was always happy to answer our questions. He was also very friendly, easygoing, and accommodating throughout the entire day. We never felt rushed and were able to enjoy everything at our own pace. I would 100% recommend doing a private tour, especially with Sare. Being able to take our time, ask questions, and have a guide who really knows his stuff made a huge difference. Definitely worth the money. If you’re planning to visit Angkor Wat, I highly recommend requesting Sare. Great guy, great guide, and an overall amazing experience. Thanks again, Sare! Much love from Mexico!
An excellent tour in Angkor Wat - Sara was a very knowledgeable guide and shared a lot about the history of the complex and Cambodia. Tip was a very reliable driver and was always prepared with cool towels and water for our journey. The Tuk Tuk was also in great condition and very comfortable. Sara adjusted the tour to our preferences and the service was smooth and hospitable.
Mr. Leap was an amazing guide, who went over and above to ensure that we make the most of our experience at Siem Reap. He made sure that we get all the highlights at all the spots he took us to in the Angkor Premises and was very knowledgeable about the temples in the area. His demeanor is excellent and I would highly recommend that people avail his services and friendliness for their visit to Angkor Wat.
Mr Leap took us on an amazing tour & did a great job with explaining the history of eac temple!! He is also a great photographer & knows all the great photo oops! Take his advise it with help you create and memorize your trip!
Mr Leqp did an amazing job taking us around the temples in Siem Reap. He was very informative and we truly enjoyed our day!!!
Leap it was an absolute pleasure for Marc and I to have explored your beautiful city and its people. Our first tour of Siem Reap Sacred Monks Blessing was wonderful and quite a moving experience. The blessing of the monk was an experience we will carry with us forever. Traveling through the villages by Tuk Tuk was exhilarating & an organic way to experience life in Siem Reap. Your suggestion to walk through the local market was eye opening. In our travels we prefer to go where the locals go. Thank you. The Tour of Angkor Wat Temples was absolutely stunning and majestic!! We felt like we were traveling a world filled with rare beauty and countless stories of culture and traditions that we carry with us with cherished memories. You and your driver were fantastic. We felt like we were traveling with friends. Thank you Leap for showing us your beautiful city & temples & for taking breathtaking pictures of our journey! We hope to come back to Cambodia in the near future. Blessings to you and your family. Sandra & Marc Chavez
Very good well worth while would recommend
The service itself was very good. Our guide, Sara, was extremely knowledgeable and very easy to understand in English. The driver was also excellent and the private minivan was comfortable and a great way to get around the huge Angkor complex. My only problem was that there was simply too much temple-hopping for me. After about 2–3 hours I was completely overwhelmed. Some people might happily spend eight hours exploring temples, but I discovered pretty quickly that I'm not one of them! That's obviously not the fault of the guide or the tour. The one thing I wouldn't recommend is the 4:30 am sunrise start. We stood beside a smelly, mosquito-infested lake for about an hour to secure a good spot, and when the sun finally came up my reaction was basically, “Yeah... so what?” 😂 In fact, the people sitting among the temple ruins behind us seemed to have a better view. If I did it again, I'd arrive around 7 am, avoid the sunrise crowds and just enjoy wandering around the temples. Overall, I'm glad we did it. If we'd had the stamina to stay for the whole tour, it would have been very good value having such a well-informed guide explaining the history and significance of everything we were seeing. I'd definitely recommend this service if you are serious about temple-hopping. The guide, driver and organisation were excellent. Just be realistic about how many hours of ancient temples you actually want in one day!
Leap, our guide, and Thourn, our driver, made this temple tour such an amazing experience for me and my mom. From detailed explanations of history and architecture to cold water and towels at the end of each temple tour, we felt spoiled the entire time. Fully recommend, 10/10 experience!
Thank you to Leap and Sophal for a well organised tour around Siem Reap. Leap was attentive, engaging and could answer all our questions with good info.
Mr Leap was a fantastic tour guide and made it a wonderful experience. Mr Art was a great driver who was very helpful
Great tour. I saw all the major temples. Even with the afternoon rain it was very enjoyable. My guide Mr. Leep was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended and worth the cost for the personal guide and private car.
Our guide Sara was very informative with the tour, from explaining and describing the gates to the different temples he gave us a rich historical lesson on the people of Cambodia the Khmer empire, the kings lineage and how everyday life of was in the previous older centuries. My favorite part of the tour was Getting to see the many unique diverse temples, and It was also interesting to see the monasteries where the monks were staying at. Our driver Soufal was also a great driver who provided us with refreshments with water and wet towels that helped a lot since the days in Cambodia are very hot and humid. (Although we didn’t get to go in the monastery due to security reasons) it was nice to see them as we were passing by on our tuk tuk. For a whole day I would recommend to do the morning tour our day started at 7:30 and you get plenty of time to see many wonders that Cambodia has to offer you will be very satisfied with the whole tour, I’d say crowd size were not to worry about since our guide always gave us time to explore and there wasn’t a significant amount of people blocking our way!
Our guide, Sara, and our driver, Sophal, were excellent. The trip was very well organized, and Sara explained everything in great detail throughout our journey. Sophal was always punctual for pickups and drop offs at every location, and he provided cold water and cold towels along the way. I highly recommend them both.
Had a fantastic day visiting the temples in Angkor. Mr Leap our tour guide was excellent and we learnt so much. It’s a must do tour that will blow your mind. The pictures of the temples could never do it justice. Had a great driver, Mr Art, who provided us with cold water and cold towels throughout the day. Thoroughly recommend.
We had a wonderful one day tour with our guide Mr Sara and driver Mr Tina. It really surpassed our expectations. Mr Sara, was a v knowledgeable and friendly guide. He was really great with our teenage son, and taking lots of really lovely photos for us. We would all highly recommend this tour, especially if you can get Mr Sara! Thank you for a great day :-)
We had a really great day with Mr Sara and our driver, Mr Tina. Mr Sara is a fantastic guide, so friendly and knowledgeable. He was great with our teenage son, answering all his questions. We would highly recommend this tour: thank you Mr Sara and Mr Tina for a great day.
My husband and I had an amazing time on our tour. Mr. Leap was an incredible tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and his English is impeccable. He shared history about the temples, Cambodia, religion, and his personal familial ties to the temples which made the whole experience very enjoyable. He loves what he does so much that he goes to the temples on his own also - which really explains how passionate he is about the temples. The car was comfortable and we were given cold water bottles and cold towels between temples, which was much needed in the heat, as well as umbrellas when it started to rain. This was our favorite temple tour out of our entire 3.5 week/5 country vacation!
Just returned from a fantastic trip to visit the Temples in Siem Reap with our amazing guide Mr Leap he was extremely friendly and informative striking a great balance between local knowledge and ancient history. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend both About Cambodia Travel& Tours and especially Mr Leap!🤩 Best regards The Dimonds💎 UK
We highly recommend this amazing private tour ! Everything was perfectly managed and the tour guide Leap was super professional and very good at showing us hidden details during our visit . Fresh water and towels offered was really appreciated. Enjoy the visit , everything was amazing! Thank you Leap !
My guide Rady and driver Pich picked me up via tuk-tuk at the scheduled pick up time at my hotel. Both gentleman were extremely friendly, personable, professional and kind. As a US national I"m not accustomed to extreme humidity so they were very generous with cool bottled water and cool towels in between visits to temples. I did not purchase a pass in advance so I was immediately driven to an office to purchase and then we proceeded to Angar Wat immediately thereafter. Rady was very conversational providing a historical timeline of each respective structure citing the religious implications, rulers, and any conflicts that resulted in raiding, defacing or removal of artifacts. Rady also discussed modern day life in Siem Reap for natives/locals citing his own personal experience working in social services and transitioning into tourism/hospitality. For each of the temples Rady was kind enough to take photos of me utilizing my phone and dslr Canon Camera and was proficient in using both. After touring each of the respective temples I was transported back to my hotel via tuk-tuk. I would certainly recommend this tour for any travelers visiting Cambodia. Please come and experience a sincere, personal, professional memorable experience.
Excellent and knowledgeable guide, superb English. Really knows his stuff !
An amazing day visiting the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and other nearby temples. Our guide Leap had an absolutely brilliant knowledge of the history of the temples and Khmer culture. He, along with our driver, Mr Art, made our day an extremely memorable one and I would recommend this tour to anyone seeking a similar experience.
A wonderful day spent visiting the temple of Angkor Wat and nearby temples including Angkor Thom. Our guide Leap had an absolutely amazing knowledge of Khmer history and the background and unique history of each temple, and our driver Mr Art was brilliant. These guys provided a first class service and I would recommend using this tour group and in particular Leap and Art if you are visiting Siem reap.
Fantastic tour with leap our guide. We had a wonderful time, well organized at our own pace. Leap was amazing with his enthusiasm and knowledge we had the best experience. Our driver was very safe and looked after us with cold washcloth and water. Highly recommended both of them
Thank you to our knowledgeable, friendly and engaging guide, Mr. Leap! On time, precise, flexible and lots of local insights. He felt like a Cambodian friend and we enjoyed our private guided tour with him. Strongest recommendations :)
Mr Leap and our driver were wonderful. Polite, kind, considerate and Mr Leap was extremely knowledgeable. He showed us everything in great detail but took the heat into account and gave us opportunity to have breaks whenever needed.
We had the most incredible day with Mr Sara and Mr Art. Mr Sara was a fountain of knowledge about all of the temples and their history. He was a pleasure to be with. Our driver was also punctual and polite and they provided cool towels and ice water at every stop and were flexible with itinerary to suit the needs of our 9 month old baby. They even allowed us to borrow a hand fan and umbrella to make sure the baby was as comfortable as possible in the heat. Thank you so much for creating amazing memories for our family 🙏🏼 we are so grateful.

We had a fantastic trip with our guide Mr Leap and our driver Mr Tina. Leap was so knowledgable and passionate about the site and presented all information in a great way. We throughly enjoyed our trip and was a highlight of our holiday to Cambodia and Vietnam. We loved how Leap knew all the off the beaten track photo stops and the route to go to make it quieter.
