Our tour began with a beautiful soul our tour driver that happy face greeting me right on time. The drive to the Ancient temples filled with knowledge and passion as our tour driver created our journey. Arriving at the ancient temples filled which such awe they are amazing. Then onwards to a lovely lunch and again our tour driver making sure everyone was looked after. Finally onwards to the Turkish steps that blew me away breathtaking. Lots of wobbly rocks but it was worth it. My 5 star review goes to our tour driver the views were amazing, but his kindness and caring nature a pleasant experience well done
We used Sicily Day By Day for a daytrip to the Valley of the Temples & Turkish Steps, as well as another daytrip to Etna and also for transfers to & from the airport. Consistently great experience across all 4 bookings, the people (Damiano for Valley of the Temples, Danilo for Etna and Stefano for the transfers) were great and the booking process was really smooth. Damiano and Danilo knew their stuff and went out of their way to make sure that you had a good time. I would definitely recommend them for any excursions in Siciliy!
The sites were all great. Enjoyed the valley of temples and the steps. Great views and photo ops. Driver guide was fun and knowledgeable. Downside was the food. Lunch was at the museum fast food. Nothing fresh. I would have rather purchased my own food elsewhere. If u include a stop for lunch, it should be at a local restaurant with fresh food. In addition, we had to purchase our own tickets at the entrance of temples and wait in queue. Company should have prearranged our tickets with cost of tour. The guide could not go in with us so we were on our own for two hours. The lunch was a wasted hour. And the steps was very short. Maybe half hour at the site.
The Valley of the Temples and the Turkish Steps are one of the most beautiful hotpots in Sicily. Antonio took care of every detail to make a great experience for all of us. Everything was perfect. Antonio even took the time to take as close as possible to my apartment to spare me a 5 minutes walk under the rain.
One of the largest archaeological sites in the Mediterranean and a UNESCO world heritage site. The site has 8 temples, constructed in dedication to Greek Gods 2500 years ago, with impressive sections still standing, and evidence of collapsed temples still remain. It is considered second to Athens’ Acropolis in Athens, Greece. It was a fascinating part of our stay, and a unique opportunity to be absorbed in history and witness 1st hand how temples were constructed. Advice is to arrive early in the day, or later, avoiding midday sun as there is little shade and a lot of walking. Scala Dei Turchi - interpreted as Turkish Stairs one of mothers natures gifts. Steps made from granite and chalk that shelter the sea. Access is via a steep stepped path, so requires reasonable fitness to complete. Parking is available on the roadside above, but was very busy when we visited in late August. We were also unable to access the stairs as it has been cordoned off, but was able to get close to see the beautiful landmark. Worth visiting both on the same day.
The Valley of the Temples is more than impressive and it is advisable to go there in the morning, as we did, before it becomes too hot. However WE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME THERE - barely 1¼ hours by the time we had passed the security check and queued for tickets even though there really were not too many people waiting. I had wanted to have a guide (not expensive), but at least 1½ hours were needed for a guided tour, so I had to forgo the idea. Having said that, the descriptive plaques in front of each temple and exhibit were very informative. What was frustrating was that we had TOO MUCH TIME at the also impressive Turkish Steps - 2½ hours to kill. The short walk along the beach brought you to the fenced-off amazing white rock formation that was only accessible if you had brought your swimming gear to circumvent the fence. A refreshing drink at a beach bar proved a nice way of passing the time though.
Good experience for this trip… The Valley of the Temples is certainly the most important testimony of the ancient, classical culture of Sicily... Turkish Steps is the good view
We wanted to see as much of Sicily as possible during our week there, so this trip was a must, and it didn't disappoint. The pickup point was easy to find from our accommodations in Catania, and we left early for the two hour plus ride across the island to Agrigento. Fortunately, our guide Daniele spoke fluent English and was a big fan of American TV and movies, so we chatted happily the whole way, making the time pass quickly while taking in the beautiful countryside. Our first stop was the Valley of the Temples, where the Greek ruins were spread out across a stretch of land with breath-taking views. Prepare for this portion of the trip by bringing a hat, sunscreen and a bottle of water. Fortunately, all of these were on sale where we entered the park and bought our tickets, and there was a small cafe about half way through the park where we were able to stop, rest and have a cool granita di limone before moving on. The next stop was lunch, which we ate out in front of a nearby pasticceria. The meal was pizza and focaccia, along with very good Sicilian wine and plenty of water to re-hydrate after our walk in the sun, followed up by sweets. We took advantage of the opportunity to purchase a beautiful tart for dessert for our dinner at home that night, along with a bag of cookies - just in case. After lunch we headed to the beach, and the Turkish Steps. This part of the trip involved walking down several flights of stairs to the sand and then a good distance down the shore to reach the Turkish Steps. I let my husband go alone on that hike, which he pronounced well worth the effort, and settled happily under an umbrella with a coffee to watch the sun bathers come and go. After more water and a rest stop, we loaded back up for the ride home, tired but happy. We were anxious to see these particular sites, and we're glad we went. I will warn other travelers that this trip involves a long van ride and a lot of walking in the sun, with both stairs and ramps. It might not be a great fit for those with very small children or for whom a full day of walking it a little too much. But if you are fit, or just determined to see some of the best preserved Greek ruins anywhere in the world, this trip is for you.
Roberto is a wonderful tour guide! He showed up promptly at the time specified and because I was sitting up front and had tons of questions he gave me a little tour of Catania as well. He’s also very knowledgeable about geology so was able to point out interesting outcrops along the way to Agrigento. Temple Valley is a must see on your visit to Sicily. I’ve been all over Greece so I feel pretty well versed when it comes to Greek temples...these were the best! So well preserved! If you’re a speed walker and love geology make a beeline to the gardens. However, two hours isn’t enough time to spend a lot of time at each temple and visit the gardens. I was practically running at one point. Wear layers! If your from a cold climate and come in April you’ll be hot by the time noon rolls around. I burned my shoulders a little in fact (15 SPF doesn’t cut it apparently). The Turkish Steps were the highlight of my day though...a stroll on the beach after a yummy snack was perfect! Some of the best pictures I’ve taken so far this trip are of the beach, sea, and the Turkish Steps. An incredible value for the money I paid. Only took off a star because I had to sit in the middle seat in the front. Not comfortable for a 2 hour drive to and 2 hours back.
Wonderful tour with Fabio. A fantastic driver, very kind and professional. It made our visit a very special day that we will always remember. Thank you, Fabio!
Excellent service. Fabio is very professional.
The tour started at 08:00 and lasted until about 17:00. It all worked out great with the pick up, ride and return. We were a small group of 7 people and were super led by Diego a lovely Sevillano who knew a lot about the history and culture of Sicily. We were all very satisfied and I can highly recommend this Enterprise to everyone. However, I think you should extend the tour by two hours to have even more time for the magnificent temples and beautiful beach. Full score! Greetings
Excursion to Agrigento Valley of the Temples/Scala dei Turchi. Angelo the Guide very prepared and helpful trip quite comfortable however only Recommendation for the Scala dei Turchi 1 hour too little time x enjoy this wonder. Recommendation also of means for transfer as some more comfortable and equipped tours for those traveling and using these tours!
I made the day trip to the temple valley and Turkish steps with snack. He came up with nothing else but to change the order and go at 11 a.m. to the Turkish steps and at 3.30 p.m. to the valley of the temples so that there was no queue to take out the entrances (the entrances are taken out by you and they give you a printed paper with what you will see inside). We almost died of the heat, we got sick out of there. The fountains were closed without water for you to buy at the bar and there were practically no shadows. Do as other tour operators take purchased tickets and give them to customers and do not take us at noon to save time on the visit. The 3rd is because both the Turkish steps and the valley of the temples are very interesting to see.
Closed to tourists, you can no longer get close and walk on the nice white steps, "because of racial danger", but actually it is because of instagram that tourists must have perfect photos and then they fall and bump themselves. The restaurants around unpleasant staff.
255 in 2 for: - Visit to the Valley of the Temples: without a guide but with a photocopy each with a drawn map - tasting of typical foods and drinks: sandwich at the museum bar...!!! - walk on the Turkish steps: closed for 3 years! Only took a 1 and a half hour swim in the sea (disappointing sea) - Estimated return at 6.00 pm: we returned at 8.10 pm with a delay of more than 2 hours on the program, restaurant and dinner obviously skipped. The only positive note: the driver (who is not a guide) was very nice and helpful. He tried several times to briefly illustrate the various works and the characteristics of the area. Very passionate. Too bad about everything else! There were 8 of us in total.... all very disappointed!
There are many temples in this valley, of which 4 or 5 are still in excellent condition. It's a long walk from the front to the back temple, but there's a van going back and forth so you don't have to walk back and forth. Apart from temples also beautiful vegetation such as almond trees. Too bad nothing was done at the entrance to create shade. The long queues for the cash register are in the bright sun. And the parasol I had brought with me was already blowing down on the hill at the first temple.
Beautiful hike. Certainly the places visited speak for themselves but the skill, kindness, availability of Gioele made them much more interesting. Very generous for explanations and answers to the many questions, I thank him so much for the beautiful day. Excellent organization in general. The really professional agency, after not being able to make another tour to Agrigento proposed this alternative. All right!!
Travel with him and the maximum .. with the passion he has in explaining the whole history of Sicily .. and a pleasure to travel .. nice and competent .. congratulations
We went on tour of Agrigento to the Valley of the Temples and the Turkish Staircase together with the guide Gioele! A really nice and prepared guy! Throughout the trip he entertained us and explained the history of Agrigento, the temple, the staircase and more! Prepared and passionate, he was an excellent "guide" with various information also of Catania! Explanations provided in both Italian and English! Self-guided tour of the temple, even without the need for an internal guide, because we were already very prepared! In the afternoon Turkish staircase with adjoining beach stop for swimming! Pick up from our hotel (not really in the center of Catania), very informal lunch in typical "diner" style that I personally loved, also for the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to establish spontaneous conversations. The experience was very nice and I recommend it! In fact we booked another tour two days later!
This tour gave us a richly filled cultural day accompanied by Antonio. We recommend this excursion to everyone. Antonio is well informed and told us the history of this region extensively over the centuries. If we had questions ourselves, Antonio knew how to give a well-founded answer. He also gave us the opportunity to spend the desired time within the program on personal points of interest. Great experience. Hilde and Luc
I attended this excursion in August 2019 and the Service was impeccable. Although I was not staying in Catania they provided to join the group for the excursion, with return included. The journey to Agrigento is long but Gioele has been able to cheer and acculturate us about the history and origins of Sicily in an impeccable way, as well as giving us all the historical and cultural information about the Valley of the Temples. Both in Italian and English. Casual lunch break and very well managed. Back in time. What can I say, absolutely recommended.
This area of Sicily that I did not know is really beautiful and worth the trip .. the Valley of the Temples is a magical place .. well organized .. neat and easy to use thanks to the very clear explanations that are next to each monument .. interesting audioguide .. and really unique place
