Syracuse Ortigia - Sicilian Street Food Tour By Do Eat Better

I’ve done a lot of food tours in Europe and this was one of the best. You'll leave stuffed, and free samples abound throughout the trip. Sicilian produce is some of the best in Italy, and you’ll get to taste it all on this trip. Free bottled water was provided at several points during the tour too. Giuseppe was a fantastic guide and is passionate about enriching everyone’s food experience. He also sprinkles in some history and architecture knowledge for good measure. A must-do experience. Would do again if so came back with friends.

This was one of the best food tours we have been on! Not only was the food delicious, we also learned so much about the history of this area. Giuseppe was fantastic. He literally extended the tour by almost an hour to take us into an art gallery and answer our questions about some of the artwork we have seen. Thank you for a fantastic afternoon Giuseppe!

It is mine and my Husband’s first time in Sicily and so we decided what better way to kick off our time here than with a Food and Drink tour. All I can say is wow! From start to finish we were treated like welcomed friends by the most professional, knowledgeable and warm Guide, Giuseppe! It seemed like there was not much this amazing Guide did not know and as we walked around Ortigia it was clear how proud he was to share his country with us. We loved this tour!! Giuseppe is a fantastic tour guide and we would recommend his tour to anybody! The food was absolutely delicious and we were pleasantly surprised by how big the portions were. We especially loved learning about how the history of Syracuse has influenced it's cuisine.

This tour was truly incredible. I have done a few tours around the world, and I think I can say Giuseppe is one of the best I have ever met. He not only made the tour fun and enjoyable, but you can really see he has an amazing passion for Sicilian food and history. We felt like this tour was the best way of getting to know Siracusa and I would recommend it to anyone visiting.

Giuseppe was an excellent guide- great sense of humor and very informative. We enjoyed his friendship with each food vendor and were able to taste some street food we would not have sought out otherwise. Our favorite was the white paper cone of lightly fried small shrimps and fish that he taught us to eat shells and skin and all. Simply delicious!

Iryna our guide was fabulous, very Kenyans was able to swap seamlessly between Italian and English to accommodate dual nationalities.we had a guided tour of Ortigia taking in all the sites with 5 stops for food, both savoury and sweet. Iryna was great fun and kept us entertained and amused throughout the tour. As a family of five including teenagers and grandmother we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour to everyone. Make sure to wear comfy shoes and don’t eat beforehand!

The tour guide was excellent. She was very animated and told very good stories. She was very knowledgeable, kind and personable. The food was very disappointing for Sicily. My friend and I both expected a much higher quality of food and yet we walked away not being at all impressed with it. It was fun meeting the people, and as I said, the Guide was great. But we came for the food.

The food on this tour was excellent. It was of good quality, abundant and nice variety. Our guide (Guiseppe) was outstanding. He didn’t just lead us to food stops. He gave us an excellent tour of the city along the way and provided excellent incite into the foods and their history.

Wow what a great tour! Iryna was really a superb guide! She taught us so much about the history and day to day life on Ortigia and Syracuse, and we enjoyed our food samplings so much. She was a delight and engaged with our family in such a warm way; we really felt welcome and got a real taste for the cuisine. The time flew by and we were sad when it was over! Yah is so much for a wonderful time, don’t miss this tour!

Giuseppe was our guide, and he was knowledgeable and passionate about Ortigia and its food. Fantastic! I highly recommend doing this tour! You will learn about Sicilian street food and you will discover restaurants you’ll want to go back to. This has been one of our favorite tours on our trip to Italy.

My wife and I try to go on walking food tours wherever we travel and we both agreed that this was the best tour we’ve ever been on. Giuseppe, our guide, was so passionate about Sicilian food and culture that we will be looking for specific Sicilian cuisine instead of just Italian from now on…

We were very grateful that Get Your Guide was able to accommodate us on the short notice of cancellation due to a member sick . Fortunately it all worked out as our tour guide Giuseppe was so entertaining , knowledgeable , personable , accommodating and very funny . The whole group was pleased .

This tour was exactly as described and a great way to spend our first evening in Ortigia - wandering the streets with a local eating delicious food. Brenda was exceptional. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the food, the vendors, and the history behind each food we ate. She was flexible in adapting to our group’s interests and pace (we were jetlagged!). She even gave us recommendations after the tour was over of other places to see and eat in Ortigia, which made the rest of our stay even better. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful experience. My wife and I had the opportunity to try many different types of Sicilian food and drinks that we probably would not have tried on our own and they were all outstanding. Brenda was friendly and professional and well-organized. She was at the meeting point at least 15 mins earlier (I went there 10 mins earlier and she was already there and greeting everyone even when they were not part of our group). She was kind and welcoming for all sort of questions - not just about the food! She’s very knowledgable and patient to all my questions regarding local life and culture. I am very happy about the tour and so lucky to have her as the guide. Thank you so much Brenda:)

The tour was just ok. I felt like we could have done this on our own instead and found food that was just as good.

Brenda did a wonderful job explaining the historical relevance of the city. She spoke very clear English. She explained all of the food and why it was important to the city. A must do in Ortigia. We always try and do a food tour where we go to because you see the more authentic/less touristy places that you would not know about or know to go in. Some of the best food we had was on this tour. It’s also super interesting to learn about the customs, traditions, or history about certain foods and their preparations. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes food, history, or culture.

Our street food tour with Brenda was super fun! We tasted a bunch of typical Sicilian savory and sweet foods and met fun people in our group from all over the world. Highly recommend!

We joined with 9 and 8 years old daughters. Giuseppe is always nice and he also cared about our kids, to adjust the size or food itself. Everything was so tasty and we were very happy to join the tour. I would definitely recommend to everyone!

Excellent tour and guide, Brenda was fantastic. We had a group of 7 women, and none except myself had done a food tour before. It was so much fun, plus Brenda also gave us the history of what we were seeing, stories about how the foods came to be, etc. Highly recommend this tour.
