Our guide Salvadore was very informative and helpful. He drove back to pick us up from the hotel after we missed the earlier pick-up time. We had a rainstorm the night before and in the morning of the tour. But the sun peaked out in the afternoon on our way driving up to the mountain. The sunset was stunning!

Amazing sunset tour of Mt. Etna! Lorenzo was our tour guide and made the trip super special. He is an incredibly knowledgeable and passionate guide who can explain everything - from geology, craters and lava flows, to mythology, local trees and plants, and even cooking and how to make a perfect Limoncello Spritz. Loved the stops for wine, honey and olive oil tasting. The trek was well-paced, safe and so fun, and the sunset views were unforgettable. Excellent experience! Thanks Lorenzo!
we had a great time with our guide Sabor( hope the spelling is good) he was so passionate and had so much knowledge thanks value for money- we didn’t need any add ons the guided walk was enough
Excellent experience with a very knowledgeable and helpful guide, Salvo. We did the base camp walk which was about right for us guided by Salvo. The trip was capped off by some wine-tasting & a short trip to briefly explore a lava tube. Advisable to prebook the trekking boots as you’ll need decent foot-ware on slippery ash. Also the temperature was around 11-12C, so jeans/trousers & hoodie type of clothing
Lorenzo was a perfect guide! He brings the passion and knowledge to the experience. What an amazing time!
Lorenzo was an amazing tour guide! Very knowledgeable and passionate about Mt Etna! Excellent experience.
Our Sunset Tour on Etna was fantastic! Our guide Thomas was amazing! Besides being extremely personable and entertaining, he was very passionate and knowledeable about the topography of the volcano. He tailored the trek for our group (all in our 60s) that was within our capabilities yet still adventurous. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Eastern Sicily to sign up for this tour
We were keen to visit Mount Etna as I've always had a keen interest in geology, and as a family we were not disappointed. Our pick up was a bit chaotic, but once at Etna we were taken to an interesting cave and then onto the craters, where the views were epic and inspiring. We benefitted from a knowledgeable guide and a full moon, which really added to the atmosphere. There was a tasting experience that seemed like a bit of a bolt-on (though we did buy a bottle of wine!) and be aware: - the temperature was significantly colder than at Taormina, so definitely take a take a jacket, - good footwear is recommended as you walk over loose rocks, - if you are uncomfortable with heights, you may not enjoy the trek around the top of the crater. Overall, a great experience 🌋, with a great guide, and definitely value for money. We would highly recommend 👌.
We really enjoyed this tour. The hike wasn't as strenuous as I thought it would be. The views were great!
If you have a fear of heights or worried about your mobility don’t do it. Francisco was good but the whole experience was not for the older generation.
It was an amazing expierence and our guide was super amazing, very insightful and also kept pace check for some of us that were slower in hiking. I would recommend to add Water and Wet tissues considering summer weather.
Perfect hike up wearing sneakers. Not too difficult. Toured an amazing cave as well. The guide was great. The knowledge about the vulcano and formation of creators and caves was excellent. The only issue I had was that in addition to English he also had to translate in Spanish for two of the group. This is most likely an exception because the tour was specified as English
Great tour. Would recommend to all.
Claudio our guide was brilliant! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic about the subject and very caring, made sure we were all ok. Joke wasn’t too difficult and I appreciated the walking shoes, thank you!
Amazing Etna sunset experience tour with Itala 🤩 Itala is very passionate about Etna and the area, and you can feel and hear it - she knows a lot about the area and she generously shares her knowledge. The caves visit and local products tasting on the way to Etns was also very nice.
Vitale picked us up just up the road from where we were staying. She was friendly, very knowledgable and it was clear she had a love for Etna and what she does. The trip is how it is described and was an incredibly fascinating and beautiful experience.
Nando was an amazing tour guide with tremendous passion for Etna and the region. We not only got to walk some of the craters on Etna and go into an old lava tube - Nando made an extra stop on the way home so we could look back at the volcano to see the lava flowing. Amazing!!
Great trip, our guide was lovely, so friendly and knowledgeable about the volcano, its history and ecology. The views were amazing and we took some amazing photos.
Our family of four booked this excursion to add variety to our typical city, historical and food based tours and we were not disappointed! Christian was a knowledgeable tour guide, he communicated well on the day of and the main company communicated well during the booking process. We did start off at the volcano caves which wasn't as interesting as we expected and probably could have skipped it altogether. If we had each been given flashlights it might have been more enjoyable, we were standing in the dark for good bit and other tours coming in and out made it hard to hear/follow what our guide was telling us. The tour starts at a shop/restaurant at the base of the hiking trail and the tasting included some wine, honey and liquors but no real snacks...so make sure you eat before the hike or grab some snacks at the restaurant before the tasting. Christian kept a pretty quick pace on the hike and did his best to keep the group (8) together. We have been on many hikes previously but this one was different because the ground is fairly unstable, more like gravel than solid ground. This gave us all a good challenge but could be harder than expected for anyone with mobility issues. The tour company did provide hiking shoes (need to be requested in advance) which was very helpful. The shoe sizes weren't exactly what we had pre-ordered, but they were manageable enough. Overall this was a highlight of our vacation, unexpected, challenging and very rewarding. Definitely bring water and a heavier jacket or hoodie, it was quite chilly and very windy the higher up we climbed.
Lorenzo was a fantastic tour guide! He was very knowledgable and helped/accomadated everyones needs on the trip. He had great rapport and kept the whole group laughing the whole trip. This is a must do when visiting Taormina - We got great pictures (taken by Lorenzo!) and it was amazing to see Mt Etna when she was slightly active. We stopped to go in the caves and lava tubes, tasted wine and local produce, and hiked to the top of a dormant volcano crater.
Lorenzo was absolutely fantastic and this tour was one of our favorite tours! Our experience going into the caves, stopping at local shops for tastings and the hike of Mount Etna were magical and unforgettable! As a family of 5 with 3 adult children, we all enjoyed this so so much! Highly recommend the tour and especially with Lorenzo.
We went to Mount Etna with my friends, and it was a magical experience. Daria picked us up from our accommodation, and that’s how the tour began. She explained everything to us about the mountain and the surrounding areas. She told us all about the volcano’s craters and answered all of our questions. She was friendly, kind, and took many beautiful photos of us. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and I definitely recommend doing it with Daria.
Tour went very far upount Etna, views were breathtaking and a truly one of most spectacular views of all the tours we have taken. Highly recommend both the guide and the tour!
Loved both the guide and tour. Mount Etna is truly breathtaking!
Itala worked really hard to ensure we had the best possible experience. It was obvious she really loves Mt Etna
If you're staying in Sicily for just a week, this half-day hiking adventure to Etna is perfect. Stefano was a brilliant guide with a fantastic knowledge of the volcano, its geology, eruptions and craters, as well as the local flora and fauna. The landscape is incredible, and to see the changing colours in the rocks as the sun went down was unforgettable. With just three in the group, we had a really personal tour that was fun and unforgettable. As this trip was in the afternoon, it wasn't possible to take the cable car to the summit crater, but as I have a fear of heights, that wasn't a problem!
Stefano was the perfect guide. Knowledgeable and a kind soul I will never forget him. The Volcano is amazing too.
The review was good, we got to hike on the volcano which was really cool. The landscape is so different to what you'd normally experience! Unfortunately we went a bit off track and didn't get to see everything. It was still good though. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and the lava caves were really interesting!
Pepe took us on a nice adventure. We had a great experience on the hike with volcano views. We had a nice tasting experience and cave walk.
What a wonderful tour! Alessandro was a wealth of information. He was really passionate and knowledgeable and loved teaching us all about the volcano. The tasting was also really nice! It was a fantastic experience.
We booked through viator. The experience was fantastic. Our guide Tamasso was very knowledgeable. We went into a cave . He was patient and helped me get in and out of the cave as a slight climb down. After we went for honey, olive oil and snack tasting. We then strolled up to see two craters. It was not a race and you could go at your own pace. It was cold up etna so recommend wearing a fleece or jacket. We were picked up and dropped back to our hotel in Taomina. A great and fun experience. Would not suit everyone's mobility as the climb was quite steep but overall a great afternoon.
Tommaso was a great guide! Knowledgeable, funny and a wonderful attitude. We had a super time from the caves, hiking and sampling wine/honey, plus a beautiful sunset with friendly tourists.
Our tour guide was Francesco who was very knowledgeable. On the drive up we stopped to taste some wines and honeys, the Walnut Honey was scrummy. Then we headed up to watch the sun set. There is a toilet stop at the bottom before you start walking up. There is a couple of steep slopes to climb but well worth the climb. It gets quite windy at the top and chilly compared to in the towns, so definitely worth taking a fleece/wind proof jacket. And trainers are a must to give some grip but they will get covered in black dust. In the drive back down we stopped at a larva cave which was very interesting, your given hard hats because there is a couple of low points.Maximum of 8 on the tour made it more pleasant. Also we were picked up from a meeting point a few minutes up the road from our hotel.
Lourenzo was an amazing tour guide! Very friendly, fun and he explainded every detail at every point of the trip. We couldn't recommend a better guide or a better experience.
Had an amazing tour of Mt Etna. Our guide Giuseppe was patient and extremely knowledgeable about Mt Etna and Sicily in general. He took the time to answer all of our questions and went out of his way to make the trip unforgettable for the entire group.
This is such an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to anyone travelling in Sicily. On this tour I learned so much about volcanos and our guide Giuseppe shared so much history about mt Etna. The scenery is absolutely striking and it was super interesting to see the craters up close. It felt like being in a whole other world. Definitely a unique and very worthwhile experience!
LOVED the tour. We wanted to do this in slightly cooler temperatures and to see the sunset. Lorenzo was very knowledgeable and told us about the historical, geological and current state of etna. as a local, he transmitted not only his love for the land but his respect of the environment, etna, etc. He was attentive to everyone in our party, looking back often to ensure we were not only keeping pace but safe . They have helmets, flashlights, etc. you can let them know in advance of two things which are helpful for you: 1) do you have proper hiking shoes or really good running shoes. this is important as the caves where you walk are full of rocks and easy to turn ankles 2) dietary restrictions: there is absolutely adorable tasting, let them know if you have a gluten or nut allergy- they can accommodate. the views are breathtaking. Lorenzo often took our pictures in the perfect spots. the trek up did require some quick breathing for me as the altitude is quite something. also really appreciated the pick up at the naxos port. very lord of the rings beautiful. GOOO! great tour and well worth it
We were very lucky to see Etna erupting while we were on this tour! Gabriele was an excellent guide, friendly and knowledgeable. It was a great introduction to Etna and the pick up/drop off was very convenient.
Great tour guide and exceptional views. Sunset tour is the perfect time to go. We saw the volcano erupting at night which was a sight to behold. Our tour guide (Angelo) did the whole tour in 2 languages and balanced perfectly. Would recommend to everyone.
If the weather looks doubtful take a raincoat certainly a top to keep warm, a torch would be very useful in addition to a decent camera
Zelia is an excellent guide for the Etna at sunset excursion. She is very knowledgeable, can communicate even with people whose English is not perfect, can beautifully tell about how the local people live together with Mama Etna and will explain to you the technical geological phenomena in a way that you can understand. She was perfect and I thank her for that.
Wonderful experience with Daria! We learned a lot and got to experience the very best of Etna. very thoughtful and adapted experience for a group of different ages. Had great fun and can recommend this wholeheartedly.
The passion, love and pride our guide Simone showed on this tour were so contagious and fun, we loved every minute of it. 4 of our group rented the quad bikes whilst one did the soft trekking, a wonderful experience. We went inside a lava cave, tried local delicacies, saw the sunset and the Etna erupting. Unforgettable!
Salvatore was a great guide. He was very informative and set the hike pace to accommodate the group. Keep in mind that the hike is primarily up hill.
The tour guide was very nice but she did not keep the group on pace. It ran way way too long and what we did could have been covered in half the time. Then we were rushed through the tasting.
This was our favorite experience in Sicily so far! Our guide Tommaso was thorough and engaging. He shared a lot of important information and made the entire experience fun! This location is incredible. We took the evening tour and there were not a lot of people which was nice to have it to ourselves. It felt like we were on another planet with the terrain of volcanic ash and rock. Definitely recommend this experience. It ended up being cold and windy even though it was 80 degrees Fahrenheit back in Taormina. There was a shop where we purchased windbreakers but it’s a good idea to bring your own even if the weather app says it will be warm. On Mt Etna the weather changes quickly.
Our tour with Carmelo was an enjoyable experience. He was fun and personable, and took the time to get to get to know the participants of the tour. You can tell that he is very passionate about Mt. Etna, and shares a lot of information both during the tour and while traveling to and from. If you are someone who suffers from car sickness, be warned that the trip up and down the mountain has many winding roads. We tasted delicious Etna produced products and then proceeded to hike up a gravel like path (lava stones). You are walking uphill but there are options as to how high you want to go- it’s kind of like you get to choose your own adventure. You will definitely want to wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. It does get chilly and windy, so dress accordingly. Carmelo helped out along the way and if someone was afraid of heights and climbing, he helped calm their fears. We had many laughs and enjoyed spending the afternoon/evening with Carmelo.
This was an amazing experience walking around Mt. Etna seeing craters, entering a volcanic cave, and doing a light honey/OOVO tasting. Our guide Guisseppe had in-depth answers for all of our many questions about volcanoes, recent eruptions, and the surrounding geography. Would highly recommend this activity! One note: this is a very light hike, more of an uphill walk, so don't let that scare you away.
The location was breathtaking and at sunset the light made the views spectacular. Our guide was very welcoming and attentive, lovely guy. Definitely recommend.
Very good trip. Exactly as described. I love volcanos so i am biased but everyone should do this tour. It can get cold, even in summer! So dont forget your jacket!!!!!
