Maurizio was amazing. He taught us how to make our own pasta......2 different kinds and some yummy tiramisu. He took his time and explained everything to us. We invited him to sit with us because there was so much extra food. Thoroughly enjoyed his company and especially his fascinating record collection. Highly recommend having Maurizio Opinato for a cooking class;-))

So fun. Easy to get too. The food was amazing. The group Was so nice and the chef made the experience so authentic.
I wrote this: Please look no further than this true authentic Sicilian cooking experience right in Renata’s cucinotta! We had the honor of meeting Renata, feeling so welcomed inside her home and kitchen with coffee, water, and a tour of her gorgeous terrace and rooftop with a view of Mt. Etna. We had a cooking class with two different pasta (tagliatelle with Sicilian pesto and ricotta lemon filled ravioli) and then of course a traditional tiramisu. Renata is so lovely, caring, and shared her hospitality with all of her heart. It was the first time we made pasta and tiramisu from scratch, and the best part is her teaching methods and skills to help us create the dishes. Towards the end, she set up an entire table of Italian tapas, wine, sparkling water, and served us the meal we prepared. She inspired us to create these dishes at home and printed out the recipes for us to take back to our own kitchen. We highly, highly, highly recommend this experience with Renata, she was so warm and inviting and we had great conversation the entire time. We will recommend her to any of our friends and family visiting Catania!
Paullo from Tacchi & Sapori Factory was great. Special personalised experience. Made Tiramisu and two delicious pasta dishes. Got to enjoy them all with a glass of red. She even took photos of the experience for you.
We tried for hour and half to make this class. Google Maps kept us going in circles and heat. Messaged multiple times and called. No response. Upon arriving at location we were considered “no show” and rude response from host. All we wanted was help with communicating directions.
Maurizio was so lovely and very accommodating. He had everything set up ready to go when we got there with local cheeses and wine. He was very thorough with his advice and helped us to make two different pastas and a beautiful tiramisu. There was heaps of food and plenty of wine to enjoy. It cost 250 euro for the two of us but was well worth the price! The whole experience lasted nearly four hours and was paced very well.
The cooking class we booked was for 2 pastas and tiramisu. The reason why we booked it was to make tiramisu. We did not make tiramisu as it was stated in the cooking class description we booked. Traditional to Sicily is cannoli. We should have been told we were not making tiramisu, but making cannoli instead. We did make 2 shapes of pasta, but only ate one. The other pasta was not cooked or served to us. This was also disappointing because we thought we were making AND eating 2 pasta dishes. Everyone was very nice that ran the cooking class, but what was described and booked on Viator, wasn’t what we got in our cooking class.
We weren't sure what to expect when going into a private home to take a cooking class. But Maurizio was a wonderful host and greeted us warmly with charcuterie and prosecco! After we snacked, we got right to work learning the art of homemade pasta, sauces and tiramisu. Maurizio was knowledgeable and funny, making our class a memorable experience! We were surprised at our cooking skills, and had a delicious lunch!! I would definitely recommend this experience!
Our experience with Cesarine was extremely disappointing and highlights serious flaws in both their booking process and customer service. We booked a cooking class believing it would take place in Naples, only to discover — less than 24 hours in advance — that the reservation was actually in Catania, on a completely different island. This is not a minor misunderstanding; it is a fundamental booking failure. A platform built entirely around location-based experiences should make it virtually impossible to confuse two cities that are this far apart. Instead of acknowledging this issue, Cesarine hid behind automated reminders and generic policies. Repeating that emails contained the correct address does not excuse a booking flow that clearly failed to communicate one of the most critical elements of the experience. What is most concerning is the complete lack of accountability and flexibility. Despite the obvious and significant mismatch, Cesarine refused any form of solution — no refund, no partial compensation, no credit, and no possibility to rebook. The response was rigid, transactional, and entirely indifferent to the situation. Politeness in wording does not compensate for a total absence of customer care. This felt less like dealing with a hospitality platform and more like dealing with a system designed to deflect responsibility at all costs. In summary: • A booking process that fails at the most basic level: clearly communicating location • Zero willingness to resolve an очевидно unreasonable situation • Customer service that prioritizes policy over fairness and common sense We paid for an experience we never had, due to a preventable issue, and were left with no support or solution. Based on this experience, we would strongly advise others to be extremely cautious when booking through this platform.
Maurizio was amazing. This class was beyond what we expected and would definitely recommend to anyone. Our host was great with our kids and truly loved to show us how to cook. Great experience and would highly recommend.
This cooking class was great. Our hosts Graziella and Andrea were very welcoming and they made the experience so much fun. This is definitely a must-do in Catania. P.S. if you happen to get the same amazing hosts as we did, make sure you appreciate the absolutely gorgeous view they have!
Angela was the most gracious and thoughtful host. She was well prepared to teach us tips on how to make every item that we would be eating. She let us do the work and told funny stories along the way. Treated us just like family and I walked out feeling like I had a new friend. And the food wasfantastic! The pasta dishes were unique not something you would normally eat and the tiramisu was out of this world. I would highly recommend this event for three hours of fun, family, and dining.
This was excellent, my daughter loved learning to make pasta and tiramisu. Marilu was friendly and a great cook. We had a fab meal at the end to finish a lovely experience.
Had a great class with Laura! She was very kind and had a beautiful view. Very close to the cruise port. We made pasta and tiramisu
Laura was fantastic! We had such a wonderful experience and learned how to make the most delicious meal. I highly recommend booking this experience. We had a beautiful view, fabulous host, great wine and of course our favorite meal of the trip!!
What an amazing time with Maurizio. We laughed, cooked, had great music, and great company. It was such a wonderful experience and was honored to be invited into Maurizio's home.
This is truly a once in a lifetime experience. We enjoyed a fabulous evening with Chef Maurizio in his home. We cooked pasta (2 types) and Tiramisu. It’s one of the best experiences we’ve ever had when travelling. We’d highly recommend it. Whilst seeing ancient buildings might be wonderful there is nothing that will get you closer to Sicilian culture than sharing food in a locals home.
Andrea & Graziella were the greatest of hosts! They made us feel welcomed and we had a fun night dining on their rooftop terrace. They were very informative and fun, showing us how to make pasta and tiramisu! Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
This was my favorite excursion in Italy. This experience was amazing to share with my daughter because of the warm hospitality of the host. It will be great making an authentic dish of pasta and tiramisu with some sweet people.
Loved Loved Loved our Sicilian Cooking class! Host was accommodating with change of time and provided great step by step instructions that we are hoping to do at home!
Unforgettable experience, one you should definitely book and not miss if you are near Catania. The hosts catered perfectly around any diet restrictions my wife has, and their terrace has an INCREDIBLE view of Catania. The pasta we were taught to handcraft was some of the best pasta I ever had in my life. 10/10
We had an OUTSTANDING time with Marilou. We learned to make two authentic pastas and a a dessert. We then dined together with Prosecco and shared some good conversation. The food was better than the best Italian restaurants we have been to. I hope to visit again on a future trip.
Very nice experience. We visit private, and both Marilu and her husbond were Very friendly and open. We felt very welcome. And the cooking was very good. We learnt a lot. Thanks for your hospitality - we can recommend it to other
Cancelled 23.5 hours before after falling very I’ll while traveling and were charged full price. Their cancellation policy is a bit misleading and makes it sound like you at least get something back. They asked if we were coming even after they were told we came down with something while traveling. Steer clear or book last minute incase of emergencies - there was still availability the day of when we checked
Angela, our host, was amazing. She was very generous, patient and kind. She taught us a lot about making pasta and small tricks when cooking that only comes with experience. She also shared lots of useful information and history of the dishes. The evening was planned well and it has gone very quickly. She prepared appetiser's for us and shared her secret recipes. The kitchen was very spacious and air-conditioned. We’ll definitely try and make these dishes again once we return home and we’ll fondly remember this experience.
First of all, we found it really good that our allergies and sensitivities were taken into account. When we got the address, they even offered to pick us up, which was of course very convenient for us. And everything was explained in detail, we made 3 different pastas and two different sauces (including swordfish) we felt like we were cooking with the family, both were very friendly and we felt super comfortable. We can recommend everyone to make the experience themselves. We would definitely do it again.
Antonella is a fabulous host for an authentic Italian cooking experience. We immediately felt at home in her home.
The cooking class was wonderful and we learned a lot! Angela was so sweet and generous to open her home to us and we loved how authentic the class was to the local culture. Would definitely recommend!
Catania was a cruise ship stop. I booked this class quite a while ago, not realizing it would be Easter Sunday. Had I known, I might have cancelled but I'm glad I didn't. Due to some miscommunication - apparently between the provider Cesarine and Angela the cook - Angela expected 2 of us, not 4. She was not put out at all at the apparent change and assured us there was plenty of food. Then at the last minute, another late-booking couple appeared! So it was a party of 6 after all. Her son was there for translating, which added to the atmosphere of fun and laughs. We all learned at least a little about pasta and dessert making, and we all had a chance for hands-on learning. When all the preparation was concluded, we all sat down to way-too-much food and wine. What a great and unusual way to spend Easter Sunday!! Angela's kitchen is small but well-equipped and reminded me of my Italian grandmother's kitchen. We were certainly made welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Angela and Victor.
My husband and I had a cooking session with Angela. She was a wonderful host. She gave us step by step instructions and made us feel at home. Angela used a google translator to give us instructions and it did not get in the way at all. She was able to get her point across easily. Hee home is warm and welcoming. We were stuffed (just like the pasta!) at the end of our meal. Would highly recommend.
What a great experience in a personal home; the pasta making and cooking was delivered with a great knowledge (and I asked many a question related to the variations in pasta and ingredients), and a good bit of humor. My girlfriend and I had a very nice time, and we appreciated that the cook's son was there to serve as the translator.
I would not recommend at all. We were at Francesca. She was nice, sure, but she spoke almost no English, when we indicated that’s necessary, the cooking place was just a tiny kitchen, there were no other students which made the cooking class uncomfortable with language barrier. The tiramisu recipe was horrible - with strawberries, ready made thin cookies, not ladyfingers, 35% cream instead of eggs to mascarpone, etc. We were not offered drinks during cooking. If the class would be 40€ pp- ok. But not for 100€ +.
Francesca in Catania was amazing! Her husband even took photos for us during the experience. The food was so delicious and we had a great time making it :)
Firstly, our host Cinzia was a wonderful host. She welcomed us in her lovely home and made us feel comfortable. I even took a littlnap on her couch, because we climbed the Etna, the day before, so I was tired. When starting with the pasta and tiramisu, she told some of her own personal stories, but foremost told us, that the food that we were going to make, needs to be made with love and isn't so complicated if you know the steps. She was very patient and could explain what we were going to do en how. She also made us some appetisers and got some ragû from her mother, because my friend told her that she loved ragû. The pasta and tiramisu that we've made was very nice and we've left with a warm feeling and a very full stomach. Overall we've had a great day at Cinzia's home. She was a very lovely hostess. Thank you!
This is hands down the best experience I’ve had so far in Sicily. I thoroughly enjoyed each minute spent with Angela and I didn’t want it to end. Angela is a boss!!! You can tell from how she carries herself. She made sure we got involved in the cooking by showing us what to do and asked us to do it. The food was so good that I had to hug her several times. She was warm and sweet. This experience would last me a life time and I am definitely going to visit Angela again. Victor the translator was also very helpful and pleasant. They both made us feel comfortable throughout. We laughed and talked alot while cooking. I learnt how to make pasta from scratch, desert and starter and I am definitely making this when I get back home. Also Angela has a very beautiful house. She gave us really rich wine. I totally recommend, 100%.
Altogether, I’ve done five cooking classes in Sicily; each was worthwhile, but and Angela’s course was clearly the best of my experiences. First and foremost, she is a great teacher: a little showing, a little explanation, but she wants the student to be the one to do the food preparation to the greatest extent possible. So I had to work, and loved it. The three dishes we prepared—two kinds of pasta and a tiramisu—were all delicious. I think the pastas were better than any I had eaten in a restaurant. Most important of all, it was clear how much Angela loves both the teaching she does and the culture that she teaches along with the food. This was a tremendous experience. If you get a chance to spend some time with Angela, do it!
Thank you Angela and Victorio for a wonderful evening making pasta and tiramisu and then of course eating it! It was a lot of fun and delicious, Angela made it all seem so easy. It's a great way to spend an evening in Catania.
it was a wonderful experience and a highlight of our vacation! Angela and Viktor were super friendly and funny. we had a lot of fun and also learned a lot about sicilian cuisine Culture. we would repeat it at any time again and recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the silcial culture.
We learned how to make pasta and ravioli in such a simple way we made it as soon as we got home. Angela was SO FUN. The meal itself was so tasty.
Had a wonderful time with a wonderful hostess. Highly recommend Thank you so much for a wonderful time!
