Dario picked us up at the door of our hotel on time this morning. He was very attentive to our needs. He explained the proposed tour and then offered us various options. Once we had decided on our plans, he then gave us further information about what we were going to see. He recommended an excellent restaurant with delicious food and wine together with spectacular ocean views. We both enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thanks Dario for making this a special day.

Itinerary
visit of Arab-Norman town Monreale, with its amazing view panoramic overlooking the famous Conca d Oro and entire city of Palermo. In this town the art and architecture reached the pinnacle of its glory with the Dome launched in 1174 by William II and represent the scene from the Old and New Testaments all in golden mosaics.
The town is one of the major tourist attractions in the region and every year it attracts thousands of tourists from all parts of the world, in summer the population can triple, making the main streets in the country crowded. So there is then a youthful atmosphere and a lively nightlife. Of Greek foundation, the city evidently derived its name from its position on a lofty and precipitous rock, forming a headland which projecting into the sea and stunning beaches of fine sand. The ancient main site is its Cathedral, begun in 1131, in a style of Norman architecture which would be more accurately called Sicilian Romanesque, moreover you can visit so many Churches and old Palaces.
he construction of the Castle began in 1316, by order of Count Francesco I of Ventimiglia, over the ruins of the ancient Byzantine town of Ypsigro, Hence its original name, Castello del buon aere (Castle of good air). The Castle mixes Arab-Norman features with others typical of the built during the Hohenstaufen rule of southern Italy the cube shape recalls Arabic architecture. In the second floor rises the sumptuous Cappella Palatina (Palace Chapel) was built in 1683 by the brothers Giuseppe and Giacomo Serpotta, with a great profusion of precious marble, stuccowork, putti, and friezes that commemorate the most resplendent moments in the history of the House of Ventimiglia and you can find around the town.

The tour was fabulous! From the magnificent Cathedral of Monreale, the castle in Castelbuono and the seaside town of Cefalu. Our guide was Fabio and we could not possibly have had a better guide, he was polite and the perfect gentleman! A great driver, with a love for his city and surrounds. He shared historical facts, cultural iniquities and funny snippets. It was a very hot day and Fabio made sure we had cold water and were comfortable all the time, and more importantly he went out of his way so that we could see everything. The Monreale cathedral was closed for mass when we arrived there (Sunday morning) but was due to open in the afternoon, so Fabio reversed the itinerary and took us there on our return to Palermo. For us, that was “going up and above” the norm! The inside of the cathedral is something to behold! And to finish the day, he treated to the most delicious ice cream we’ve ever eaten! Thank Fabio for an absolutely fantastic day. Mille Gracie !!!
See a lot of Sicily in one day. Beautiful church, charming towns, great food, beautiful scenery and a great ride in a Mercedes E-class.
Fabio is very personable, knowledgeable and fun. We traveled to 3 cities, visited the museum sites, had time to walk around the towns. He was at the pick up spots on time. Very nice gentleman.
Dario, our driver, was friendly and flexible with the schedule as it was a private tour. We spent more time at Moreale and Cefalu and skipped the castle completely. Dario recommended a great restaurant in Cefalu with great view, delicious food, reasonable price, and excellent service. Truly enjoyed the whole day experience.
This was a nice private car for our day. The driver was mostly a driver, and not a guide. He did explain a few things, but mostly dropped us off at each location for time on our own. If that's what you're looking for, I would recommend. If you want a guided tour, this isn't that. As a note, Cefalu is not a quaint little town; it is very touristy and crowded.
Beautiful views and great fun at the Cefalù beach and pedestrian street. The cathedral at Monreale is also pretty incredible as well as providing a great view of the city of Palermo.
This trip was the best!! Mimmo was an exceptional driver and guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was a pleasure to learn from him throughout the day. He was considerate, kind, and went above and beyond each step of the way. Our time alone at the stops was fantastic too: the cathedral in Monreale is beautiful, the town and the castello in Castelbuono are surprising and interesting, and the beach and old town in Cefalù are both stunning. Highly recommend this trip!!
Tour guide brought us back to our hotel 2.5 hours early and did not take us to all of the towns we were supposed to see.
A fabulous trip to different locations - a hillside town, a historical beach city - all wonderful Sicilian experiences with friendly Sicilians willing to share with tourists. Cefalu is a true gem.
The best part of the tour was the driver, who was attentive and funny- otherwise this is an overpriced car ride to three spots where you are dropped off to roam around and picked up- the worst part is the organizer who does not communicate any details with you leaving you hoping that the tour will happen on time- unlike other tours we have taken where all details are shared in advance. Regarding the three spots- nothing much in Monreale or Castelbuono- in fact they drop you off in Monreale before anything opens and you are left sitting around waiting for 45 mins. If we had known the nature of this expensive tour, we would have just not done it.
This was one of our greatest tours. Our driver was Dario. He was very professional, super punctual and very knowledgeable!!!! We had a very pleasant drive with him. We are absolutely obsessed with Cefalu. It had a very beautiful church and magnificent panoramic view. Dario also recommended us a very nice restaurant with the view to the see, Kentia in Cefalu. I need to tell I had the tastiest fish I have ever had in my life. If you are ever in Palermo, I highly recommend to take this tour!!!!
I felt very disappointed with the experience at first. It's not a tour but merely transportation. However, the private drive allowed me to explore the city at my own pace, uncovering hidden gems and enjoying the freedom to delve into each location more deeply.n gems independently. Have a lunch at the beautiful place facing the water. I bet you can drive Uber to that location for less money
Michele was willing to change route and give in to our request of seeing some other places off the Itenerary.
The cathedral in Montreale is breathtaking. We could have stayed and taken it in for hours. The seaside town of Cefalù is beautiful. Had a wonderful lunch overlooking the sea.
The Driver Dario was very good and knowledgeable. We had a great time, but the castlebuono was disappointing.
🔥DANIEL IS THE BEST DRIVER IN PALERMO!🔥He perfectly drove me to Monreale to see the breathtaking Cathedral with giant Jesus in gold - then we went to Castelbouno to have this amazing dessert place that gave delicious Christmas cake!! And then we went to Cefalu OMG THE BEST BEACH EVER the beach colour is INSANELY beautiful seriously the best of Mediterranean Sea😍❤️❤️❤️I skipped a lot of free time within the cities and asked if we could go Mondello real quick for a photo and Daniel kindly got the company to agree WHICH I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR (thank you so much!!😍❤️❤️❤️) and Daniel also took me to a surprise place called Sferacavallo!! Only the locals know this place and it was STUNNING!!🤩❤️❤️❤️Thank you again to Daniel who was full of humour, warmth, kindness, knowledge and he made my visit to Palermo an amazing one! This company is 10/10 SERIOUSLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!🤩❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥💫✨
Lorenzo was a great and capable driver. The tour was self-guided which we enjoyed doing on our own at our own pace. He gave a recommendation of where to eat in Cefalu. We really enjoyed visiting all three towns and seeing the beautiful countryside and coast line!
Nothing! I understood it to be a guided trip. The driver dropped us off at two different locations and told us he would pick us later. We paid well over $500 Euros for a driver and not a guide. We could have hired a taxi and got a better experience. Your description of the the guided trip was very misleading, it was not guided. If you were to offer me a refund, I would happily accept it. We had a great day shop and at the beach. The driver was great and knowledgeable. Onyime and clean vehicles. Great food and thebtrip livedbuo to expectations. Ciao!
It was a fabulous day trip, my guide was great. we saw many beautiful locatons near Palermo and listened to fabulous music in the car. thanks
Our day was great with Danielle. He was prompt for our pickup. Very polite and accommodating. Very professional and personable. There wider wildfires that had major roads closed from Cefalu to Palermo. Some of his colleagues were stuck in traffic. He found backroads and we were back in Palermo with no problems. After he dropped us off. He found my phone in his vehicle and called the hotel immediately for me to pick it up. My phone has all of my cards and drivers license. Thank you!!!
Very nice and educational tour. We saw a lot of different styles of arquitecture. Our driver Marco was very friendly and answered all of our questions.
Great trip! Our guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He told us where to look for and where to meet him and continue on out journey.
The tour did not happen. We were mislead as to the pick up point. Very disappointing and lack of communication by the tour people.
The trip out of Palermo was breathtaking. Dario was very flexible & offered alternatives for the day. He was cheerful as well as informative . Cefalu is beautiful & the Mediterranean was calm & warm. Lunch with fresh seafood & great service added to the day.
Very disappointed! This is not a TOUR it is an expensive taxi ride in a nice car. Additionally we were not informed prior to leaving on the tour and only told after visiting Monreal that Castelbuono was closed and not available. Also upon our return to our B&B upon receiving his tip, which obviously the driver thought was not enough, the driver made a rather rude comment. Just be forewarned that the word TOUR is misleading, it's a taxi ride.
Fantastic tour. Our drive was amazing so informative, drove very safe through some very small streets. It is self guided when you get to the locations but the drive is wonderful and every stop is beautiful. Cefalu lunch was fantastic and what a beautiful beach. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful time with Dario traveling to Monreale and Cefalu. The van was brand new and super comfortable. The pace was relaxed and Dario was informative. He even helped me in my quest to learn more Italian.
Our driver Dario did a great job getting us safely to & from our destinations. He suggested skipping Castelbuono to spend more time (including lunch) in Cefalu, which was fine. Would prefer driver to speak better English and provide a little more commentary rather than just being a driver.
I booked this trip during a stop in Palermo on our cruise. Marco was great and we had a carefree day in Cefalu to enjoy lunch and the sea side! Marco was able to tailor the trip to make the most of our relaxing day.
We had a great day! We had to cut it short because we got into port late so we only made it for to Monreale and Cefalu, but it was a lovely day and Dario was a great driver.
Loved the visit to Cefalu and especially Monreale. So much history in both places, possibly one of the highlights from our trip. Bus included 8 passagers but unfortunately no comments from driver so you basically get a comfortable drive to those two locations for the price
The tour was very enjoyable. Two comments. - although we had booked “English” the guide had very limited vocabulary and was thus not very vocal. - the timing at Cefalu overlapped when all shops are shut during the afternoon. Consider changing the timing sequence of the three towns on the tour to adjust for this.
Delightful tour of all the sites with Marco ! He was very professional and arrived with a sparkling clean Mercedes sedan and was ours to drive with for a whole day. He gave us the histories in detail on Cefalù and on Monreale, a UNESCO heritage site. Highly recommend him !
Marco is very professional and excellent English. The tour was fanatics and allowed enough time in each location. Highly recommend this tour and Marco.
Great driver, we got to see three villages and eat some amazing food! The villages were each different and beautiful. Get your good walking shoes as in each place you will explore n foot. The drives to each place were also full of incredible views.
It was fine. I would prefer to here informative tour, not just driving around. I was thinking , that I would have a real guide not just a driver. Besides, was fine
Marco was very capable and friendly driver. We toured Monreale and spent lots of time in Cefalu on the beach. It’s a wonderful part of Sicily. I highly recommend Marco.
We chose this trip to visit the three outlying towns from Palermo. The first Monreale was brilliantly situated for an amazing view of Palermo city from above. And only a short drive away. The cathedral is just beautiful. We had time for a quick look around and a coffee and croissant. Secondly we visited Castlebuono. A beautiful medieval town within castle walls. This is the furthest from Palermo about 90 mins. Although a short visit, it was enough to visit the castle and its beautiful chapel. Finally a visit to Cefalu with its expansive beach. We took time out for a delicious lunch. There are many restaurants to choose from including beach front or sea terrace. After a stroll around the narrow streets we were delivered safely back to our accommodation in Palermo. Dario our driver was very experienced and dealt with the narrow streets very well. A very enjoyable day.
Marco was a great driver—friendly, informative, knowledgeable and fun. Each of our stops were amazing in different ways. Montreal is a must see for its beauty and opulence, Cefalu for the amazing beaches and fun vibe. Highly recommend!
Marco was excellant driver and gave us wonderful info. They are not your guides so they don’t go with you but this allows you to see and view at your own pace. We got caught in a downpour and he was right there to help us out. Wonderful day away from big cities. Highly reccomend.
We had a wonderful time being driven to some of the beautiful sights and historical places of interest in Sicily. The duomo in Monreale is a masterpiece, representing the merging of diverse cultures; the story of the Castello di Castelbuono and the significance both it and the relics of Saint Anna have today are evident in the pride of its inhabitants; and finally the bastion at Cefalu provides a stunning view of the coast. Giovanni was a great guide through all of these and provided us with interesting and relevant information during the day. Recommend this tour to see some highlights in comfort and style!
We had originally had expected to rent a car, but when that did not work out, we started looking for tours. Giovanni picked us up near our apartment and delivered us to Monreale's cathedral (incredible Byzantine mosaics), the castle in Castlebuono, and then the seaside town of Cefalu, where the cathedral was closed. He was punctual, safe and polite, and knew enough about each to make it all interesting.
We are very enjoy the trip and the guide really take care of us. Water also serve to us even we don't ask for it. Highly recommended trip
Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience. The hefty $380 price for two would lead most people to believe that this would be a higher end tour; however, the driver (albeit nice) only quietly drove us from one spot to the next and asked us to meet him back in an hour or so at each location. I learned nothing about the towns and still am in shock about the pricetag. Definitely my most disappointing Viator experience yet.
This was a great tour. Giovanni our driver was punctual, very courteous & knowledgeable. What he didn’t know, he found out for us. The car was clean & comfortable. Time spent at each location was fine. We got to each site early enough that it wasn’t crowded. We had enough to to see the sights & relax before moving on to our next location. Very enjoyable way to see Sicilia.
Booked the tour to get a feeling for surrounding areas of Palermo. At Cefalu had lunch by the beach and did some shopping. At the two other sites visited the main attractions. The van was in very good condition. The driver (Domenico) very professional and have us enough time to walk, shop and eat.
Our driver was the best! I think his name was Giovanni (sp?). Pointed out what to see and do. Very relaxing trip with just my husband and I. Did not feel rushed at all and saw everything we needed to. Car was very comfortable!
The driver was a nice guy but he didn’t speak English or Spanish so it was difficult to communicate. However, if you are just looking for a private driver he is good.
