We enjoyed a 2 hour walking food tour with Carlo during our recent visit to Palermo. He was very personable and very knowledgeable about the various local specialties. We started our tour tasting a variety of street-food appetizers. We then had Sfincione, a type of pizza that was very delicious. He wanted to know if we were up to trying a spleen sandwich which is very popular. We were and it was delicious as well. After that it was arancine, a fried rice ball filled with meat and some vegetables and a glass of wine. We finished with a pastry shop visit where we had cannoli and gelato. All in all it was a great experience. We saw some interesting little "off the beaten path" eateries where locals clearly frequented. I would recommend a street food tour and Carlowhen visiting Palermo.

Beati Paoli is the name of a secretive sect thought to have existed in medieval Sicily. The sect, as described by the author Luigi Natoli in his historic novel I Beati Paoli. Whereas the novel is fictitious, Sicily's history bears some evidence that the Beati Paoli actually existed.
The Cathedral of Palermo is the most important monument of the “Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale” site inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO on 2015. The Cathedral of Palermo was founded by Gualtiero Offamilio, archbishop of the town from 1169 to 1190. It was a mosque in Islamic times and converted into a cathedral church by Roberto the Guiscardo after the conquest of Palermo. Its exclusive elements are the inlays and the architectural and sculptural plastic that reflects the penetration of Romanic art and the first Gothic decorative taste in Sicily.
It is the most ancient street of Palermo. From the 16th century the street also named Via Toledo. After the unification of Italy, it was renamed Via Vittorio Emanuele II, but the old name is still in use.
Quattro Canti, or Vigliena square, is the name of the octagonal square in the intersection between the two most important streets in Palermo: via Maqueda and Cassaro (corso Vittorio Emanuele). Ancients sources refers about it as “Octagon” or “Sun’s Theatre”, because during the daylight almost one of the façades is lighten by the sun. The “Four Corners” were realized from 1609 until 1620. The shape of the square is an octagon and it’s placed in the middle of the ancient city as a perfect point of connection between the four most important districts of that period which are: Kalsa, La Loggia, Capo e Albergheria. The four façades of the buildings have four different levels. In the lowest one it is possible to see the fountains as the symbols of the four old Palermo’s main rivers: Oreto, Kemonia, Pannaria, Papireto; in the next level are shown the allegories of the four seasons represented by Eolo, Venus, Cerere and Bacchus; the middle part is decorated by the statues of Carlo V, Filippo II, Filippo III, Filippo IV; and in the last order there are the illustration of the four saints of Palermo before the arrival of Saint Rosalia (1624): Agata, Ninfa, Oliva e Cristina.

Fabrizzio along with his wife Manuela were very informative and really took the time and extra time since I was in a wheelchair. The food we tasted was also very delicious! Was my husband favorite of the trip so far!
Don't eat breakfast. Vegetarian and gluten free both accommodated well too . Guide was great very informative
This was a tour we took off our cruise ship and was told to watch for our guide with his orange sneakers. We almost missed the tour because we waited watching for these specific. Instructions and he did not have them on. Others also commented on this crucial lack of communication. The food was really nothing at all that we really enjoyed and although the history portion was rather interesting we would not recommend this based on many other tours we have done.
Fun, Interesting a great guide great english👍loved the tour of the cathedral and the food experience
Fabrizio was a fantastic tour guide who is from Palermo and provided a lot of history, engaged us to learn about the culture, and introduced some nice street food. He was very personable, funny, and professional. I would recommend this tour.
Fabrizio, a local Sicilian guide, delivered the goods in every way. He was charming, engaging, funny and knowledgeable. We walked away with knowledge of the history and customs of the city, not to mention the terrific local food. Highly recommended.
This was a delicious and historical introduction to Palermo that informed our whole stay. Our tour guide, Fabrizio, who was born and raised in the city, was a wealth of information and hospitality. We had a few questions before the tour and Fabrizio got back to us quickly. Fabrizio recommended where to park and even gave us great recommendations for restaurants during our stay. The tour meeting point was easy to find. The food tasting included so many of the street foods we had read about. We are travel agents on vacation and highly recommend this tour!
Great local guide, gave a personal touch! I was not that excited with the food itself. It is advisable NOT to have breakfast before this tour. A bit overpriced, like everything in Italy.
Fabrizio was great, he told us lots about the local culture and history. There was a good balance of knowledge and local cuisine
Very informative tour and lovely tasting of the street tour. Guide very knowledgable, friendly and helpful.
If you’re going to do one tour, this is the best one to book. I learned about Fabrizio through WeArePalermo site. He immediately answered my email re: vegetarian options. What’s unique about Fabrizio is his humorous storytelling in weaving history and current culture. The whole group laughed as we listened to the insights on the locals views on the parking and construction. He introduced himself as a source of anything in Palermo, so I asked him to arrange an airport transfer for an early AM departure. A driver dressed in business attire arrived at 5am in a van! Grazie Fabrizio! My positive regard for Palermo is mostly from interacting with him. You get what’s described and so much more--Fantastico!
Very informative tour. Host Fabrizio was very generous, patient and knowledgeable. Our family group really enjoyed everything about this tour. Sample tastings of many street foods and opportunities (and time) to buy anything else you desire along the way. Fabrizio offered many recommendations and was happy to be contacted for further information etc before or after the tour. Highly recommend this tour.
Fabrizio was an excellent guide, personable, passionate and engaging. He walked us through history, culture and food effortlessly.
Fabrisio was fun and informative. Great historical buildings and fun facts about Sicilians. Enjoyed the food tasting. 10:30-1:30 was very hot and busy. Might have been better earlier.
Guide very knowledgeable! Good food, and lots of it! I recommend Fabrizio!
We had the mayor of Palermo as our guide. Sorry I mean Barbara. All I can say is wow. Barbara not only knows every vendor and all of the hidden gems of the city but knows the history of the neighborhoods. It wasn’t the boring tour you see other folks on, she makes it fun and you could honestly spend the whole day with her walking around and meeting her friends. If you going to do a tour in Palermo, this is the one.
Fabrizio was fantastic! He clearly loves his home town of Palermo and is very knowledgeable about history and traditions. Honestly we weren’t sure what to think of Palermo after arriving at night and not seeing much of the city before the tiur but after tasting wonderful food and hearing about its history we now have a place in our hearts for the people, sites and food of the city. Would highly recommend the tour and Fabrizio.

Fabrizio takes you to the street market to get an authentic feel of the city.
Fabrizio gave us a wonderful tour of Palermo! He was able to engage a group of 3 generations with stories and history of the city. He presented sites that would have escaped us, and we loved our time at the market. Many thanks for making our trip to Palermo so memorable!

This was our second tour with Fabrizio! We liked his first tour so much in 2017 we rebooked with him for our family trip in 2025. It’s a small intimate group which we like better than big groups of 20 to 30 people. Frabrizio was born and raised in Palermo so very knowledgeable. The food selections are delicious and informative. He also accommodated gluten options for 2 people in our group! He is warm, inviting and funny. You will not be disappointed.

Our tour guide was Fabrizio and he was excellent. He met us at our cruise port and walked us into town to meet up with other people who signed up for the tour. Fabrizio shared a lot of history about Palermo, more than other food tours that I have taken. The street food that we had was good as well.
It was informative. Guide was very knowledgeable, more history than food. Very much enjoyed the tour.
Our tour guide, Fabrizio, was on point. As we strolled along, he included a lot of great information. His sense of humor added to the experience. Our street food was delicious.

Wonderful experience learning about Palermo history, culture and of course the street food. Did not feel overly “touristy”, very relaxed, helped get your bearings with the city if first arriving to Palermo! Would recommend.
