A really interesting and informative tour. Karolina was an amazing guide, charming, knowledgeable and very helpful. Highly recommend this tour of the lesser known sights of Palermo.
Salvatore provided a great tour of Kalsa, pointing out all the historical highlights and providing great details and stories behind each. Salvatore was engaging and entertaining. Highly recommend this tour and Salvatore as your guide.
We were a group of 2 couples and wanted to learn about the real Palermo, not just the tourist highlights. We researched from Australia and were so pleased we found this tour with Salvatore. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his home town and shared his enthusiasm with us. He speaks excellent English and we still laugh when we remember him saying 'Guys you gotta see this, it's amazing'. It was an easy walking tour through Kalsa which is so rich with history.
My tour of the Kalsa quarter with Salvatore was perfecto! I have been to Palermo many times and feel I am a bit more knowledgeable than the average tourist about the history of Palermo and Sicily. Yet this was my first time exploring Kalsa. You can tell Salvatore has a passion for his city and was very knowledgeable about the area we walked through. I was able to learn many new things about the history of the Kalsa and have a list of places to go back and explore on my own. I recommend this tour with Salvatore if you want to get away from the crush of the main Palermo sights and see a side that the locals experience, while learning how the city developed and expanded throughout the centuries.
Karolina was informative, interesting, and great company. We saw and learnt a great deal about Palermo during our tour.
I reserved this tour months in advance and was charged for it exactly 48 hours before the day of the tour. My group of four arrived at the meeting place 15 minutes early. However, the guide never showed up. I called her cell phone and there was no answer and no voicemail. I had to call TripAdvisor in the US at significant expense only to learn that the tour had been cancelled by “the supplier”. No explanation. I had not received a text nor an email about it. I was reimbursed for the tour (not the lengthy phone call, on hold and having to navigate a phone tree). It was our first day in Palermo and we had hoped to be oriented to the city. We ended up using a self-guided tour in a guide book. Very disappointed in the guide and Trip Advisor.
Karolina was an excellent guide for a few hours on our first morning in Palermo, she helped give us some orientation about Palermo, some history and some food and drink advice, too. The cannoli and granita stop topped off our wander. A great activity to do when you arrive!
We really enjoyed our time with Karolina. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Palermo. She showed us a lot of history in Kalsa. She was very personable and was easy to talk to. I would not hesitate to take another tour with Karolina.
Amazing tour with great restaurant/food/coffee/beer suggestions. Highly recommended. My wife and I learned a great deal.
Salavtore is very charming, knowledagble about the quartier Kalsa which he lives and where he took us to abtour through the history. we enjoyed the tour and got a much deeper understanding of the coty and its culture.
Excellent tour! Salvatore was very knowledgeable and gave us wonderful insights into Palermo’s hidden charms. Highly recommend!
This was a fun and informative walk around Palermo! Salvatore was a brilliant guide and clearly loves his city. We learned so much and saw many hidden treasures that make Palermo so wonderful! We would highly recommend this off the beaten track tour!!
Neil’s our guide was the best. He was patient with us and detailed historic areas with passion. He was careful to make sure he covered unexpected details. He gave us time to look around and ask him questions. He was very helpful and kind. Thank you for your insight.
We enjoyed our hidden gems tour of Palermo with Salvatore. There was so much to see and learn about the history of Palermo. Salvatore is charming and enthusiastic. He has so many interesting and funny stories to share, would definitely recommend this tour.
This was one of the best tours we took during two weeks in Italy. We can't say enough good things about Salvatore- he was knowledgeable, passionate, interesting and helped us understand history and context more than any other guide. We needed to deal with a personal issue during the tour. Salvatore not only helped us with that, but he stayed beyond the scheduled end time to make sure we had a full tour. We highly recommend the tour in general- and if you go, go with Salvatore.
My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening tour with Salvatore. This is our second time to Palermo. I would never have discovered this "off beaten track" without Salvatore's assistance. Thank you Salvatore for the wonderful memories! I would definitely recommend this tour with Salvatore.
Salvatore is the best! His historic knowledge of Palermo is delightful is his way of relating past history to present day. As the tour is titled, it is off the beaten path away from other tours and the one on one with Salvadore is the best, Bravo!
We had a great introduction to Palermo from Salvatore. His enthusiasm and passion for his home city was contagious and his history knowledge was impressive. We certainly saw and learnt a lot from his tour. His English was great and he was friendly with a good sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate to recommend Salvatore!
We had an absolutely amazing experience with our tour guide Salvatore in Palermo! His knowledge and passion for the city shone through as he guided us through the charming streets of the old town. Salvatore’s insights into the history and culture of Palermo were invaluable, making our tour not only informative but also incredibly engaging. His friendly and approachable demeanor instantly made us feel to walk around with a good friend , and he went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. I highly recommend Salvatore as a tour guide for anyone looking to explore the rich heritage of Palermo. Thank you, Salvatore, for an unforgettable tour!
We took a tour with Salvatore, and it was great! Salvatore is very knowledged about the history of Palermo and showed us many great sites. He made the trip fun and educational. I highly recommend him. This was one of the best things I did while in Italy. Great Stories!
We were on a group tour of 12 that had been travelling around Sicily for the previous 2 weeks. The tour concluded in Palermo and 6 of us had an extra day. We did the "Off the Beaten Track" tour with Salvatore and were all glad that we did. Salvatore showed us a side to Palermo that we did not see with our original group. We all enjoyed the tour and would recommend Salvatore as a guide.
Highly recommend this tour. Our guide Salvatore did a great job of showing us Palermo while keeping the kids entertained. We only had a short time in the city and this was definitely a good way to spend our time
Great guide. We booked with only one hours notice and had a great tour off the beaten track . Worth every penny.
Salvatore was an excellent choice for a city tour on our first day in Palermo. His knowledge of Palermo and the history, both current and ancient was exceptionable. On a walking tour we were able to see and understand much more of what we were looking at instead of just walking past a cite. We only had 2 short days in the city so was glad we did this first. It was a private tour with only the 4 of us. We could hear and understand him clearly. He had very good English.
We had a great private tour around Kalsa quarter of Palermo with Salvatore. Learnt so much about history, architecture and many remarkable events of the city! Salvatore had a very well thought through route and a story line that will stay for sure in our memories of Palermo. Much appreciated!
Would love to give this a review. Wouldn’t let me give zero stars/circles. The company canceled one hour before we were supposed to meet our guide. Only saw the notification as we were looking at our place to meet. The guide canceled and they couldn’t kind a replacement. Really too bad. I would suggest having a backup for every tour. It’s terrible to plan for something and then have to make other arrangements for the day.
Salvatore gave us a deep insight into the city of Palermo. An enthusiastic, proud resident who brought the area to life for us. He gave us history, architecture, legend, religion, foods and a feel for the place that we would never have had if we had walked the streets and followed tourists maps ourselves. His English is excellent and his love of his home apparent and enviable. What a walk. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Palermo who wants to experience some of the flavour of the true city not only what the tourists customarily see.
My wife and I did this tour with Salvatore. He was superb. A local who is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his city. The tour is full of interesting facts and information. It is fun and engaging. Salvatore genuinely enjoys sharing his city's history and legend with you. I would easily do another tour with Salvatore.
Walking trough Palermo (off the beaten tracks) with Salvatore was a superb experience. He gives you an insight in the history of the city and her citizens. It feels like a story full of cliffhangers 🙂. All kinds of subjects were included in this tour, like history, legends, architecture, food, art and museums. Very much appreciated!! Johan, Lieve, Valérie & Willem
Salvo D’Anna was great! Very interesting and fun to learn everything in Sicily. Gave us recommendations outside of the tour for the rest of our days to come.
Salvatore clearly loves his home city of Palermo & is great at passing that enthusiasm on to his guests. He really brought the history of Palermo to life, putting everything into context, telling us why and how this amazing city developed such a unique culture, so that we felt a part of it. He didn’t shy away from some of the darker sides of it and gave us a complete picture, with lots of stories, humour & fun on the way. Highly recommended!
Salvatore was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable. The stories and details were fantastic! Grazie!
Salvatore was brilliant and gave us the perfect intrusion to Palermo- its history, its culture and its people. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone new to the city
In addition to being very pleasant, Our guide was a real local who knew every corner of the city and was very informative. In addition to the tour itself she gave us lots of additional information on the best sights to see and other reccomendations. This was an excellent way to start our visit to Palermo.
Salvatore is an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable, and we were so happy after the tour we had to go back to the places he suggested to visit.
Salvatore gave a great tour, bringing to life the layers of history in the Kalsa neighborhood. He has a deep understanding of the history and culture of the neighborhood. He was friendly and engaged, answered all of our questions and gave recommendations for local restaurants and bars. Highly recommend!
Salvatore took us around his Palermo, blending the many cultures of the city with his unique insights to life in Palermo
Very good guide. Loved seeing the non-touristy areas that are filled with history. The guide also took us to the major sites as well. His stories were interesting and informative.
Salvatore is a wonderful tour guide. He really brought the city of Palermo to life. We saw a learned a lot in our time with him.
We met Salvatore on time and started our tour. We immediately felt that we were in good hands. Salvatore loves and knows his city. He shared so many interresting infos about the Kalsa area and Palermo. Every building, corner, street, views and churches have an history that Salvatore shared with enthusiasm. We could ask as much questions as we wished and he always had an answer. I would definitely advice you to book your private tour with Salvatore as he will open your eyes our so many things you could miss if simply walking in the city without information. He is really a great guide, easy company and very friendly.
Salvatore took my wife and me on a fun and interesting walking trip through the ages - all in a few hours. It’s a great way to see Palermo with an enthusiastic local and get ideas of what you may want to go back and explore in more depth. Salvatore is lively, humorous, and attentive to his guests. The best feature is your small group gets all his attention. If you have the time and energy and interest, I recommend this tour.
Salvatore provided an enjoyable and informative tour - giving us unique highlights of the Kalsa area with engaging stories of history, rulers, markets, saints and artists. We learned a great deal and followed up with several of his recommendations on sites to see in more depth. Salvatore gave us a very good grounding in understanding Palermo and how is grew from its early days to the present. Terrific.
Salvatore gave us a wonderful tour of the Kalsa quarter of historic Palermo. His historical insights were cleverly linked with important locations and buildings as well as some more obscure and interesting facts about Palermo's significant history. He was engaging and often shared in a joke as he worked through the history. When you book this tour it is a personal 3 hour tour, not as a small group. Highly recommended and great value.
Salvatore is an excellent guide. His insights and good humor made for a pleasant morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and would recommend him highly.
Karolina was amazing! We learned so much about the history of Palermo, and how the locals live. we also discovered fantastic local places to eat and drink. She took us to the best cannoli place. we also laughed a lot!
We had an excellent guided tour in Palermo. The tour started as planned without any issues and right on time. Salvatore took us to the main sights as well as hidden ones. He provided tips on what else to visit on our own. Salvatore provided a lot of historical information and was happy to answer any questions we had. The tour had an excellent pace; neither to slow nor to long. We would happily do the tour again and can only recommend the experience.
Disappointed to get an email 20 minutes before the appointed meeting time that our tour was cancelled. We were already on our way there.
The tour with Salvatore made our weekend trip to Palermo extremely memorable. Salvatore reached out ahead of time and, at our request, recommended a great restaurant for the evening prior. During the tour he showed us a few main sights and many more tucked away sights between several neighborhoods. He was very knowledgeable and we greatly enjoyed the historical information as well as the informal discussions. While we stuck to Salvatore’s route, it sounded like each of his tours could be individualized further- to stop for coffee or drinks or whatever the individuals’ desire. We truly appreciated our time together and would highly recommend to others for a personalized experience of fascinating Palermo. Grazie mille Salvatore!
Hi Salvatore our guide, such a friendly and knowledgeable person with a great sense of humour. Really enjoyed our time, it went far too quickly. All we were shown was extremely interesting and getting away from the tourist trail in places was very interesting
