Here, among the ruins of the Byzantine tanneries, the crystal clear waters tell the secrets of ancient craftsmen. A break, a dive into the past and into clear waters. The path winds between tannery walls adorned with ancient graffiti, traces of an era of production and forgotten trades. Along the banks, ancient mills emerge as silent guardians. The stone wheels, still now, tell stories of the streams that once turned them. The return to dusk is accompanied by the call of nocturnal birds, and the Cava Carosello, with its lakes, Byzantine tanneries and mills, dissolves in the twilight of the evening.
In this hiking route, the call of the past merges with the majesty of nature, offering a unique experience through the eras that shaped Noto Antica. Among the paths, a journey through the eras is revealed. A path begins among Greek ruins that winds along Byzantine rock dwellings, revealing the vestiges of an era of splendor. Under the shade of centuries-old olive trees, the Roman walls emerge as silent sentinels of a glorious past. The remains of the ancient theater open like an amphitheater, reliving epic shows that animated the evenings of ancient Noto. The castle, a crossroads of civilizations, bears witness to medieval military ingenuity. The trail reveals fragments of frescoes, reminders of an era of opulence under Arab rule. The earthquake of 1669, a painful chapter, left scars on these places. The ruins stand as testaments to the strength of nature and human resilience.
Loved the hike and swim. We had an amazing hike through the canyon and then swim. Alessandro was brilliant, we learned so much about the history and Noto Antica. Highly recommend Alessandro and the tour. Thank you Alessandro
I didn't get to do the tour. I booked and paid through Trip Advisor, but guide cancelled on me 24 hours before departure (with a 6am WhatsApp saying "Hi") because he had double-booked. I got a refund, so it's no issue, but it does feel like it might be a bit of amateur set-up. Or did the guide just get a bigger tour group, and ditch me? I don't know. Poor, in my opinion. Hard to recommend anyone who cannot maintain a diary.
An excellent day out. Alessandro was first class travelling from catania to collect and return us to our Giardini Naxos hotel. Very informative and friendly. Terrain was quite hard going at times but the swim in natural lake was very relaxing. History of the area was very interesting and the scenery spectacular. Well worth the effort.
We had a lovely historical trip with Alessandro. He was a great guide who has a relaxed manor and good humour. He gave us a wonderful insight into where we visited. There were 4 in our group and he made sure he covered everything we wanted to see and more, including a lunch stop in a market where we sampled a most delicious scicilian sandwich. My favourite stops were Noto and Ortiga, both very beautiful and I enjoyed walking the streets and taking in the history. Alessandro very much made himself one of our group and we look forwards to seeing him again, hopefully trekking up Mount Etna..

Alessandro is an amazing guide, bringing you to secret places without any tourists. In the morning we did a small hike on an old munk trail, with some swimming at a private pool in the sea. In the afternoon we went to an ancient abandoned city,, followed by a hike in a beautiful canyon with options for a swim in small pools. I had an amazing and long day. Alessandro was a wonderful guide! He pointed out areas of interest along the way, described them in English and Italian and took lots of great photos for my husband and I to take home. The trails he chose were great, and the views were even better. He also went to the trouble of arranging for us to pick up pizza from a new, local restaurant that we would pass by on our ride home!! My father and I visited Etna and utilised E-bikes to climb the volcano. Our tour guide was called Alisandro and he gave us a personalised tour which really made our holiday an amazing and thrilling experience. The price was great for the special, once in a lifetime opportunity. An easy and excellent chance to experience the natural beauty of Sicily; I couldn’t recommend it more.
Did a bike ride tour of Mount Etna with my friend and had an Amazing time. The trek up was challenging but not too difficult granted the electric bikes we had. When we got to the top we were greeted with a fantastic view of both the 4 active crates and the city of Catania. The ride down was probably the most fun part as Alessandro had us take a different route than the normal route which was for more experience cyclists through soft volcanic sand (My friend and I are experienced in downhill mountain biking). I would say that for this trek you should be comfortable on a bike and somewhat fit to enjoy it the most. You don’t need to be an expert on a bike though as Alessandro will be able to help you and teach you what you need to get up the mountain if you need and also will find the right route down for your level of skill. Overall amazing experience and would absolutely do it again! Also if you are a more experienced cyclist, Alessandro has several routes down the mountain that are a ton of fun!

During our day we were able to visit 2 nature reserves with Alessandro. The landscapes were breathtaking, we were also able to swim in exceptional places. Alessandro is an incredible guide, who knows how to adapt to everyone’s requests. He can tell you about the history of the island but also about animals and plants, without forgetting his little touches of humor. Walking can be a bit difficult in places, but Alessandro does everything to help you as best he can. He is a very nice and pleasant person. By far our best experience during our 15 days in Sicily, go there with your eyes closed!

Exceptional! We visited the Etna Natural Park by electric mountain bike with Alessandro. Alessandro is a lover of Mount Etna and he knows how to pass on his passion by explaining to you the fauna, flora and origin of the very varied landscapes we have passed through. We certainly had the best day of our stay in Sicily, and the others were already very pleasant. In addition to his passion for the natural park, Alessandro knows how to adapt to the people of the group and pays particular attention to ensuring that everyone has a unique experience. Mountain bikes are of very good quality and the electrical assistance facilitates the effort necessary for this discovery. Alessandro is vigilant at the level of each and adapts the route accordingly. A little puzzled and skeptical because of drlla long day a little challenging I wanted to organize with a group of friends to discover these always praised but never by us attentive corners of our wonderful island. I must immediately state that we all changed our minds in discovering what this particular excursion has given us. First of all, a round of applause to the organizer, expert in the places visited and the narration with which he described them. At times, the beauty of the landscape, the silence that surrounded us, the chirping of birds, the roaring water of the streams, the overhanging waterfalls, the caves where the various activities once took place, in short, everything gave us the impression of being "in Eden". Extraordinary positive experience to definitely recommend.
Wonderful hike along the cliff paths with breathtaking views... fantastic colors that intersect between the blue sky and turquoise sea embellish the many coves. Along the way you can admire the majestic Pillirina cave. Excellent availability and friendliness of the organization, to be repeated absolutely.

Gorgeous. Unique places with landscapes of amazing beauty. From the sea to the mountains a unique emotion. I felt like I was walking along paths of a remote island. One of the most spectacular treks I have ever done in my life.
