My husband, myself and our 14 year old son did the 2 pasta and tiramisu class and all 3 of us agreed that it was the favorite thing we did all week on our trip. Stefania and her family were so kind and welcoming, and the food was the best meal we ate on our trip as well
We had a wonderful cooking class in the home of the lovely Stefania. She and her family provide a warm welcome and very personal experience learning to prepare some Italian specialties. After we prepared everything, they set the table, poured us some local wine, gave us some appetizers and served us the dishes we had learned make. They very kindly offered to pick us up at the port, but we thought the walking would do us good. The tiramisu was the best we’ve ever had and the two pastas we made were also yummy. We highly recommend this experience.
This was an incredible experience. Our host Stefania was absolutely wonderful and the cooking lesson, meal and overall experience was fabulous. We would highly recommend this tour while in Messina, Sicily. Thank you so very much Stefania
This was, without a doubt, the highlight of our entire trip to Italy! From the moment we arrived, Stefania and her family made us feel incredibly welcome. She even arranged transportation from the cruise port to her home, which was a thoughtful touch and made the experience completely stress-free.We learned how to make the most delicious tiramisu I have ever tasted, as well as incredible homemade pasta that Stefania later prepared and served beautifully. Every aspect of the experience was carefully planned, and it was clear how much passion, pride, and attention to detail she puts into sharing her craft. Not only was this a wonderful cooking class, but it was also a genuine and memorable cultural experience. My husband and I are so grateful we had the opportunity to do this.Thank you, Stefania, for opening your home, sharing your recipes, and creating such a special experience for us. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough!
We knew we wanted to do something a little different from the other bookings we scheduled through Viator. We weren’t exactly sure what to expect to be honest. We were a little anxious with a sprinkle of eager anticipation but mostly anxious lol. Stefania and her husband opened their lovely home for a hands-on cooking experience followed by us having a lunch made from our collective culinary activities!! We had the best of times! Stefania was a joy to be with!! She is a teacher by profession so obviously, it comes to her naturally as a hands-on cooking instructor!! We made two pasta dishes from scratch! She had the nicest cooking stations laid out for us with everything we needed. We mixed, kneaded, rolled, used the pasta maker, then, cut and prepared…ALL the things!! It was such a fun experience!! We ended up making delicious cheese ravioli, and a ribbon-cut pasta (I’m behind in writing this and I can’t remember the name but I think it may have been tagliatelle w/a wonderful meat sauce). For dessert, with Stefanie’s expert help…made the BEST tiramisu we have ever eaten in our lives…oh my goodness, it was SO good! Stefania, her husband, and son graciously opened their home, shared their skill and passion for excellent homemade food and left us with an experience that we will remember for a lifetime!! To date, this has been our MOST favorite Viator experience. When we do go back, we had such a lovely time, it would be great to visit these wonderful people again!!
Words hardly do justice to our morning with Raffaella and her family. What was meant to be a simple cooking lesson turned into one of the most memorable highlights of our travels. Raffaella, alongside her husband, sister, and adult children, opened their home and hearts to us. Their patience as they taught us the art of hand-crafted pasta was matched only by their extraordinary hospitality. Dining on our handmade creations set against a breathtaking Mediterranean backdrop felt like a five-star luxury, made intimate by thoughtful touches like garden-fresh herbs and adorable aprons. It was truly an honor to be welcomed into their home, and we will cherish this memory forever.
It was fabulous to be invited into Stephania, Franco and Georgia’s house. We had an amazing time making ravioli, fettuccine and tiramisu. The food we made tasted amazing and it was so lovely seeing how Italians live. The three hosts were very kind and welcoming and we left feeling like we had a one of a kind experience. We would all highly recommend this experience!
Great experience! Arrive with empty stomachs because there is a lot of delicious food. Really get to feel like part of their family and be treated with such great hospitality.
The pasta we fixed was amazing and so was the tiramisu. Be prepared for an authentic culinary experience. .
From beginning to end Joseph and Rosella were the ultimate and endearing hosts at their home to share how to prepare a delicious Italian meal. Together we made the world’s best tiramisu and tucked it away in the fridge while we learned how to make homemade pasta, constructing spinach filled ravioli and then fettuccini. Prosecco and snacks were offered. Joseph interpreted Ravella’s Italian directions and information she shared with us throughout the enjoyable experience on their back patio, so lovely. Afterwards we watched as the table was set for our family to sit and enjoy the two pasta dishes we had prepared along with wine to accompany our meal. Thank you Joseph and Rosella for allowing us into your home to experience Italian culture and cooking. It was a beautiful few hours we spent with you both and a wonderful memory we took back home with us. Highly recommend!!!
Consuela was a gracious and wonderful host, from finding us when lost, to dropping us of for some more sightseeing before returning to our ship. This experience making pasta and tiramisu is fantastic and should be shared if you are able to do it. You will not be disappointed
The hostess was Stefania and she was fantastic. We did have an issue finding her house. Outta I driver was rude! My husband messaged her and she had her husband pick up where the taxi dropped us off. She was an amazing chef, we made pasta and ravioli as well as tiramisu. She served us wine and appetizers! Her husband and son were fantastic as well! It’s only 1.2 miles away from the cruise port. I would definitely recommend this tour.Stefania! It was a hands on experience and very fun!
This was a great experience! Intimate, authentic and in a family home. Learned to make 2 pastas and tiramisu that tasted better than any I've ever had. Received appetizers and small tastings with wine, as well as a little to go gift at the end. A must do experience!
This was the best excursion we had on our Mediterranean cruise. We absolutely loved our time in the kitchen. The food was delicious and the hospitality was wonderful. We recommend this experience to anyone interested in Italian cuisine and the local culture. We were so excited we would love to do this again or the same experience in another city. David and Chloe DeLong
we had such an amazing time with stefania and her son alberto! the meal prep and food were both amazing, but their friendliness was the best part... they shared about family, culture, and what life is like... which made it all the more better. oh and ps, this is the BEST tiramisu you will ever try!!! book with stefania 😇
We had an absolutely amazing experience at this cooking class! We learned how to make fresh pasta and tiramisu from scratch, and everything turned out delicious. They were even able to accommodate my vegetarian diet! I was so grateful. The entire experience was fun, hands-on, and so well organized. What made it even more special was the wonderful family who hosted us. Everyone helped make us feel welcome, shared their knowledge and traditions, and created such a warm, friendly atmosphere. It truly felt like an authentic Sicilian experience rather than just a cooking class. If you’re looking to enjoy incredible food, learn traditional recipes, and experience genuine Sicilian hospitality, we couldn’t recommend this enough. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we’ll definitely remember it for years to come! Thank you for inviting us to your beautiful home!!
Maria was a lovely host but unfortunately we would not book this experience again or recommend to other families like ours. The house was 30+euro taxi ride away (and necessary to have uber to have a taxi back to port). The host spoke no English, and while we managed, it made for a very quiet and more-formal experience. 6 people was too big for her kitchen and space. Our group ranged from 12-68, and the kids would have more enjoyed something lively and fun. In July, the home was also not cool enough for 6 people plus host cooking in a small space. Viator should allow a request for an English speaking host if necessary. If recommended for a friend with children, I would suggest something more lively.
Amazing cooking class experience in family home in Messina. Class instructor was incredibly warm and we could feel her passion for the food and cooking.
This is a great way to immerse yourself in Italian culture. Stephani taught me how to make Tiramisu and pasta from scratch and the family participated. The daughter was the interpreter. While I enjoyed my food I talked with the children who are young adults and learnt about their life in Messina. This is the best tour I have done. I throughly enjoyed it and would totally recommend the experience,
Lots of fun making and eating. Learned a few things about making pasta. I actually bought a pasta making machine the next day
A wonderful Sunday afternoon spent with Stefania and her family, learned so much in 3 hours. Highly reccomended
We had such a lovely time with Stefania and her son! Perfect hosts for this experience(: they welcomed us in to their home and showed how to make two varieties of pasta dishes. They provided delicious appetizers including a fresh made focaccia and traditional Sicilian options to put with it. Not to mention the tiramisu she made for dessert was the best we’ve ever had!! During our lunch we were also given lots of recommendations for local places to see the views of Messina. I would recommend this experience to all! 10/10!
This was so much fun! I highly recommend. We were welcomed as if we were family. I cannot wait to perfect my pasta making skills at home.
This is a real, authentic Italian pasta making experience. We were in an authentic Italian home with real Nonna’s using their family recipe.
The host was lovely and warm but the whole experience felt underwhelming. We did not make tiramisu or offered any dessert. Cooking only lasted about 30 min and the rest of the time we had apertivo and ate our meal. The meal was delicious.
We had a wonderful time from start to finish on this unforgettable cooking class in Messina! The chef and her husband are lovely and welcomed us into their lovely home. We chose to have them pick us up from the cruise port and take us back which was extra but so worth it for the convenience and we got to chat with him and learn more about their family before the class started. The pasta was so much fun to make while being so easy! The kids even loved to participate in rolling the dough out and putting it through the machine. We also made tiramisu which was probably the best I’ve ever had! You will not be disappointed at all with this experience!
Maria’s home was a delight once we got there. Loved being in a locals home . Extremely Warm Hearts!! The pasta was so delicious, and participated in making. The tiramisu was already prepared and ready for us to eat. The BEST I’ve ever eaten!! I suppose language barrier was our biggest hurdle We were directed to one address to get there and then last minute were redirected to Maria’s home who hosted It was much further away . 20 min taxi ride We ended up being an hour late The hostess did not speak English at all so this made for quite an adventure both while finding the location and when we called her to let her know we were late . Fortunately some really helpful Sicilians directed us and helped us find a taxi to the class. Again, we absolutely LOVED being in a Sicilians home for lunch . Our family is always up for an adventure!! Definitely more a once in a lifetime experience ,more so than a cooking class.
Daniela opened up her beautiful home to us and we had the BEST experience learning how to make homemade pasta. She was the nicest and most welcoming host. Highly recommend!!!
I went on a Mediterranean cruise last month and I was put in charge of planning the excursions. I decided to surprise my parents with a cooking class in Sicily as our daily outing. My dad loves cooking, especially Italian, and I knew he would love it. It was such a fun, and unique activity, so different from the excursions we had been experiencing over the past few days. We found our host easily who was ready to pick us up at the meeting point. She drove us 15-20 minutes to her home which was a neat experience. As we arrived at her home, her kitchen was nicely set up, ready for us to begin the cooking class. The view was also unreal! Our host didn't speak much English but it was no problem as she used Google Translate to help with her instructions. We made 4 different recipes! tiramisu, bruschetta, pesto fettucini, and spinach/ricotta ravioli. THIS WAS THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN! It was fabulous! Our host was also very kind and attentive to my mother who has a milk/cheese allergy. She had other options for her without cheese. This was by far one of the highlights of our 15 day trip!
Daniela was fabulous. We really enjoyed learning how to make pasta with her. Her home is magnificent! It is immaculate and has a beautiful terrace overlooking all of Messina. She was super friendly and welcoming.
This was the best thing we did on our trip to Italy. The family that hosted was so lovely and made this experience so fun for all of us. (Not to mention how delicious the food was.) I highly recommend!
We were a little unsure of what to expect when we booked this tour, but it turned out to be fabulous! Great teacher, great company and the food was AMAZING!! Highly recommend!!
The experience was amazing! However, the communication about the location was unclear. We ended up at the wrong location as we received multiple names & incorrect locations. Our gracious host waited on us anyway. The experience description didn’t include tiramisu, but cannoli. It was a great experience, just wish the communication would’ve been better. It would’ve cut down on us being lost in a foreign country where most don’t speak English.
We had the best time with Consuelo! She welcomed us to her beautiful home which felt almost like a fairy tale cottage with the fruit trees outside and the peacocks in the backyard. We got right to work making tiramisu, then ravioli and tagliatelle. My teen daughters LOVED learning to cook (it’s probably the longest that they have been off a screen in years!). Then we sat down for a delicious meal with Consuelo. All future pasta will pale in comparison to how amazing this food was. Neither of us spoke the other’s language well but we found ways to communicate. The best part is Consuelo’s absolutely adorable dog, Nina. Our kids loved petting her and playing with her. This was our favorite day of the trip by far. It felt like a chance to immerse yourself in the culture of Sicily. Don’t miss this wonderful experience.
The class was amazing! We were met at the ship, taken to our host's lovely home and enjoyed a great time making pasta, bread and tiramisu. It was wonderful to spend time with a native of Sicily and learn about the food and culture. We were so glad to have had this adventure.
This has been my favorite thing on my whole vacation!! My two teenage son's and I did the class. Our host picked us up from our crusie port for a little extra. Conseullo was great! She was so friendly and made the whole thing a great experience. She pulled off at a good spot to take pictures before going to her house. The food was great and there was so much food we left unable to eat another bite.
Highly recommend this experience. Maria was a great host and tutor. She explained everything in detail and made sure everyone participated.
Absolutely amazing! Mariela welcomed us into her home and taught us so much about local food and culture. Highly recommend this experience.

Had to cancel night before due to NCL cruise ship not being able to dock in Messina. Cancelled on app but no refund because of full 24 hour cancel policy but when it’s out of your control and the captain doesn’t inform passengers until 12 hours in advance, you lose your $300. So be aware.
We had such a wonderful time, I would gladly do this again. Lots of laughing and plenty of food tasting. The views were incredible!
What a great day we had making pasta and cannolis! We were traveling two families - with kids ages 13, 12 and 9 and everyone was engaged! The food was great and we had a memorable experience. We had an issue with taxi drivers and the host helped us! If you are cruising a taxi should be around 5 euros a person, walk a block from the port as they try to rip you off there! Had a great time and would recommend!!
This was the best experience in Messina, Italy! You should book this lifetime opportunity ASAP! Consuelo was such an awesome host. We had so many authentic, homemade appetizers. She made the art-making of pasta look so easy and was a great teacher! We made two different pastas and she gave all the secrets of making the best pasta you will ever have. You will never go back to eating box pasta the same way again. 20/10 would recommend!
Great fun family experience, hospitality and food was great and authentic! Highly recommend doing this!
We made tagliatelle with tomato sauce, spinach & ricotta ravioli, and tiramisu. All the food was delicious and we can't wait to make these dishes at home for family. Mariella was thoughtful, kind and so welcoming. We enjoy meeting her, her mother and sister in-law. We laughed a lot and ate a ton of delicious food. She showed us a lot of the city and guided us around town. Her home is beautiful, warm and inviting. She explained everything to us step by step and much to my surprise my husband is better at pasta making than me. It was an unforgettable experience and I wish we could share a meal with these lovely ladies more often.
We were made to feel very comfortable. We bridged the language gap with an audio translator app. We made several pastas (we couldn’t eat more than a bite of the last one because we were so full!) and a dessert. I highly recommend this class- it was a highlight of our trip!
Daniela was the cooking teacher and she was wonderful. The food was so good. Her apartment had the best views for eating outside. The address was a little confusing but we made it. We were told to meet at the Piazza but no one met us. We did have a wonderful time and would highly recommend.
Amazing experience with an amazing host. We had the pleasures to be paired with Consuelo. Although she did not have a translator, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise (we did use google translate), It allowed us to fully be emerged in the culture, see the passion behind the dishes and made it fun for all of us. She was super sweet, caring and made us feel welcomed to her home. As far as the class itself, it was very fun and easy. Honestly, the internet recipes make everything more complicated than it should. Consuelo made everything easy and straight forward for us. Really fun, definitely see ourselves doing another class with her in the future. Wife and I already planning on going back
What a fantastic and unique activity! It was hard to believe what we accomplished in a short time. This was very low-key, fun and tasty. I have been raving about this to friends since I have been home.
