⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Godfather Tour with Omar – A Must-Do in Sicily! If you’re a fan of The Godfather, this tour is an absolute must. Omar was an exceptional guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about both Sicilian history and the films. From the very beginning, everything was perfectly organized. We arrived in Catania on a cruise ship, and Omar met us at a small café right outside the port. A very important tip for future cruise passengers: while your phone is still connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi network or you’re still out on the water, your GPS can give completely incorrect directions. Omar sent us a WhatsApp confirmation the day before, and on the morning of the tour he sent a WhatsApp location pin 📍, which made finding the meeting point incredibly easy. The café was only about a 3-minute walk from the cruise terminal. We visited the beautiful medieval villages of Savoca and Forza d’Agrò, where many of the iconic scenes from The Godfather were filmed. One of the highlights was stopping at the famous Bar Vitelli, where Michael Corleone asked Apollonia’s father for permission to marry his daughter. We even had time to enjoy a delicious snack at Bar Vitelli. Please note that the food and drinks at Bar Vitelli are not included in the tour, but we wanted to try them, and they were well worth it. It was a great way to experience the authentic atmosphere of the bar while tasting local Sicilian specialties. Omar also gave us plenty of free time to browse the local shops and purchase souvenirs without ever feeling rushed. The included lunch is served later at Ristorante GELSO Nero, and it was another highlight of the day. The restaurant sits in the hills with incredible panoramic views, making lunch there an experience in itself. It’s a small, cozy local Sicilian restaurant, but don’t let its size fool you—the quality of the food is outstanding. The meal began with a traditional Sicilian antipasto featuring a selection of prosciutto, salami, local cheese, bruschetta, and delicious breaded eggplant, which was exceptionally good. The main course was Pasta alla Norma, one of Sicily’s signature dishes, prepared with rich tomato sauce, eggplant, and local cheese. The pasta sauce was absolutely incredible, and you could immediately tell the tomatoes were of the highest quality. Dessert followed—I can’t remember the exact name, but I believe it was a refreshing lemon sorbet—followed by a traditional Italian espresso, one glass of excellent local wine, and water. Every course was fresh, authentic, and beautifully prepared. The staff was incredibly welcoming, especially with our children, and the service was outstanding. At no point did we feel rushed—they genuinely wanted us to relax, enjoy the food, and take in the beautiful scenery. Lunch at Ristorante GELSO Nero is simply to die for. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever about the meal—it exceeded our expectations and was one of the best dining experiences of our entire Mediterranean cruise. Another unforgettable stop was the church where Michael and Apollonia were married, followed by the church steps and square connected to young Vito Corleone’s story in The Godfather Part II. Omar explained the emotional opening sequence where Vito’s mother begged Don Ciccio to spare her young son after Don Ciccio had already murdered Vito’s father and older brother. When Don Ciccio refused, she sacrificed her own life in a final attempt to save Vito, allowing the young boy to escape hidden in a basket on the back of a donkey before eventually making his way to America. Standing in the actual filming locations while hearing the story made the movie come alive. The scenery throughout the tour was breathtaking, with spectacular views of the Ionian coastline, charming stone streets, historic churches, and the timeless atmosphere of rural Sicily. What impressed us the most was Omar himself. He truly went out of his way to make us feel welcome, made sure we saw every location from the best viewpoints, and ensured we never felt rushed. Throughout the day, we always felt like his priority. We were traveling with two children, and we felt completely safe everywhere we went. Omar drove carefully, was professional at all times, and made the entire experience comfortable and enjoyable for our family. His vehicle is not a van, but an extremely spacious station wagon that was very comfortable for our family of four, with plenty of room for everyone and our belongings. This was easily one of the highlights of our Mediterranean cruise. Whether you’re a lifelong The Godfather fan or simply want to experience authentic Sicily beyond the cruise port, I highly recommend booking this tour with Omar. The tour was exceptionally well organized, relaxing, educational, and packed with incredible scenery, movie history, authentic Sicilian culture, outstanding food, and genuine hospitality. Thank you, Omar, for an unforgettable experience—we would book this tour again without hesitation!

Itinerary
During "The Godfather" tour, starting from your accommodation or Port in Catania, you will walk along the authentic picturesque streets of Savoca and Forza d'Agro remained unchanged since the movie was made, visit ancient churches, famous Bar Vitelli where Michael Corleone asked Apollonia's father her hand in marriage, church where they married, and other movie locations. Later, you will enjoy a traditional lunch, consisting of locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciutto, caponata, parmigiana, olives, extra virgin olive oil and fresh home-made bread and lemon sorbet, while having a with romantic sea view from the terrace.
First stop is Savoca, an unspoilt medieval town that acted as stand-in for Corleone where Michael was hiding out during the "going to the mattresses" time. You will walk to an ancient church of Santa Lucia, where Michael and Apollonia were married kneeling in the doorway. Then follow the same path down the hill that the newlyweds did, and visit another old church dating back to the 13th century. Walking along the fabulous streets of Savoca, on a good day you can also meet some actors - for example a lady who played Apollonia's mother and who still lives in Savoca. Later, optionally you can visit a family-owned restaurant and at a terrace with romantic sea view taste local Sicilian wines with traditional food (locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciutto, caponata, olives, extra virgin olive oil, fresh home-made bread, home made lemon granita - everything is prepared with organic ingredients of local origin - "km0"!).
In Savoca you will visit Bar Vitelli that looks exactly the way it did in the movie, and see the exact spot where Al Pacino informed Apollonia's father that his name was Michael Corleone, and that "there are people who'd pay a lot of money for that information, but then your daughter would lose a father instead of gaining a husband". Here you can take pictures with an authentic Sicilian shotgun "Lupara", see pictures from the movie and a mirror monument for Coppola, enjoy panoramic view of the Mediterranean opening from the square where the wedding ceremony scene was shot, purchase The Godfather souvenirs, and - "leave the gun, take the cannoli" - taste original Sicilian cannoli and lemon granita at Bar Vitelli.
The tour will continue in Forza d'Agro, another stunning hilltop town with a "Godfather" connection. You will walk the abandoned streets ("Where have all men gone?" - "They're dead from vendettas"), explore the historic square and see the pictures from the movie, visit ancient churches, see the piazza where young Vito Andolini (later Vito Corleone) escaped Don Ciccio's men by hiding in a basket on a donkey's back, walk up to see the remains of a 12th century Norman castle, admire delightful panoramic view of the Ionian coastline, and get a flavour of the Sicilian pastoral lifestyle remained unchanged since ancient times.

This was a great experience. Bruno was an excellent guide who explained every aspect of the Godfather films relative to the tour. The food was amazing and the kids had a great time as well. Highly recommend!
Amazing stories and fabulous guide! Omer was phenomenal! Learned so much about the history and culture of these small towns
We had the best experience with our guide Bruno!! We highly recommend him and his agency for such tours. He was very explanatory, told us all the story of the Godfather tour and we visited all the significant places there are! Do not miss it!!!
Bruno was s amazing and we recommend him 100%
It’s a long drive from cruise port but it was worth it. The lunch was spectacular!! Omar was excellent!
We had such a fantastic time on our Godfather tour with Bruno! He has a great sense of humor, knows all the fascinating behind-the-scenes stories, and made the day both fun and informative. Bruno took us to a beautiful hilltop town that big tour buses would never reach—one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend this tour if you want a personal, entertaining, and authentic Sicilian experience!
We had an excellent time with our guide. Massimo was welcoming, nice and knowledgeable and we had a great time with great conversations throughout the entire tour, including the long travels in the car from Catania. The food was perfect and we will cherish this forever.
Maurizio was fantastic! This was definitely a great Godfather tour but it was an even better tour of Sicily—we learned a lot about the region and the culture and he asked us a lot about ours as well. It felt more like a cultural exchange opportunity which was a pleasant surprise. Of course he knew a lot about the Godfather and filming locations but we expected that. We really recommend Maurizio and this private tour — it was so nice not to be on a group tour for a change. Definitely worth the price — lunch was fantastic!
Maurizio my guide immediately met me as i disembarked the cruise ship at Catanya port and went on our Godfather tour to Savoca and Forza d`Agro. Maurizio was very knowledgeable about the details of The Godfather movies and provided a wealth of cultural, historical and movie setting facts and information and made it a very enjoyable tour and i was able to see small surrounding towns and enjoyed every minute. I always loved the movie, but this tour shows a side of Sicily i would have missed if we hadn’t done it. The views, the location of the villages, the back story for the location and the history of the people, it was all wonderful. Maurizio loves his job and it shows in all the things he does for his clients and he was very patient and helped me to take many nice pictures and video shots, he also gave me some free time to do some shopping besides the famous Bar Vitelly - the famous cafe from the movie and was waiting me at the car with the air conditioning on. Lunch was delicious with Sicilian homemade pasta (alla norma with ricotta cheese) in locally family business restaurant in open-air dining balcony with spectacular views of the hills and ocean below. it was well worth the time and money, I would highly recommend this tour.
Bruno was the BEST guide ever!! He was so much fun took videos and picutre to capture the adventure together! HIghly suggest this tour with him as your guide.
Great day visiting the villages used in the filming of the Godfathet movies. Amazing views. Our tour guide was a lot of fun as well as informative.
Omar was a good tour guide and very talkative. We enjoyed learning about the movie scenes and about Sicily in general.
Omar was personable , very knowledgeable and provided a wealth of cultural, historical and movie setting facts and information. Lunch was delicious with homemade pasta, delicious farm to table vegetables, bread and antipasto . Today made wonderful memories for us. Thank you !
I’m so glad it was available. Our guide was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable. Beforehand we were told what was included and it did not disappoint!
The entire tour was our “best” experience! The guide, Maurizio, has to be one, if not your best. The history and knowledge of his beautiful country & culture makes you love it as much as he does. The tour definitely exceeded our expectations! Would highly recommend.
We spent a great day touring Savoca and environs with Fabio, who was absolutely fab! Great knowledge, personality and communication skills - he's from the area and knows people and places that other guides likely don't, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of The Godfather. Saw some extra interesting places on the way to and from, such the Abbazia dei Santi Pietro e Paolo d'Agro' church and Taormina. Toured from mid-morning through most of the afternoon, had the lunch and wine option, which was tasty, generous, and served at a local sport with super friendly proprietors. We went in late May and it was a bit hot already - since plenty of walking is involved, we recommend booking late afternoon and early evening during the warm weather months - trust us.
Our energetic Guide Ignazio immediately met us as we disembarked the ship. He quickly guided us to a luxury Mercedes Benz van and off we went on our Godfather tour! Ignazio definitely went the 'extra mile' not only sharing his local knowledge of the Godfather movie, but also treated us to his knowledge of local nut and berry trees. While following the steps of the Godfather tour he expertly guided us to a local family-owned shop featuring local olive oil and wine. YUM! Lunch at Sikania-a locally owned and operated restaurant not only featured flavorful seasonal samplings of the regional cuisine, but the highlight was the semi-private open-air dining balcony with spectacular sweeping views of the hills and ocean below. A definite highlight of the day. The family preparing the meal were warm and welcoming and a mutual understanding of appreciation was communicated without the need to know each other's language. Off again with Ignazio, as he expertly guided us to unique landmarks, both planned and unplanned. His warm character, in-depth knowledge and genuine caring made this tour a definite highlight of our entire Mediterranean cruise! The charming Nadia, who coordinated the tour, was gracious and timely with communication. You could not choose a better tour operator to treat yourself and your travel party than booking with Prestelli Tours!
Our tour with Marco was outstanding! He picked us up at our hotel on time, was very knowledgeable about the details of The Godfather movies, and made it a very enjoyable tour. At the end we asked him to drop us off in Taormina and he was very accommodating. We were very pleased with Marco and his courteous demeanor. I recommend Marco and his company.
This tour was wonderful. Our tour guide Marco was very knowledgeable about the filming of The Godfather and gave us a lot of interesting background on the area where the filming took place. He picked us up at our hotel in Taormina and took us on a very scenic drive to Savoca and Forza d`Agro. On this tour we were able to see small surrounding towns and enjoyed every minute. it was well worth the time and money, I would highly recommend this tour.
Savoca and Forza d'Argo are very memorable villages with a lot of special spots from the Godfather films. A must-do for Godfather fans.
Amazing tour, great to see The Godfather locations, Omar was a great guide. Beautiful towns to visit.
Best tour in Sicily! The tour was very rewarding and our guide Our guide Omar Giuseppe made it even better! We were picked up close to our hotel in Taormina, as promised, and had a very educational and informative day. The God Father tour allowed us to see surrounding areas and towns of Taormina that we would not have seen. You will see where some of the best movie scenes were filmed in Sicily. It is worth the time and money. This was the best part of our tip to Taormina and I highly recommend that you take the tour.
November in Sicily, intermittently cloudy and the fog rolls in in the afternoons on some days! Marco our guide made such a day shine! We loved the movie, but that is besides the point. This tour shows a side of Sicily we would have missed if we hadn’t done it. The views, the location of the villages, the back story for the location and the history of the people, it was all wonderful. Marco loves his job and it shows in all the things he does for his clients. Highly recommend this tour and Marco!
We loved the trip! Marco is very passionate tour guide and I highly recommend going on Godfather Private Tour, even if you are not a huge fan of the movie ;)
Recently in Sicily, we booked a private Godfather tour with the company. We were told our guide would pick us up in Taormina that afternoon where we had lunch. Marco showed up with a smile and fresh bag of fruit from his personal orchard, on time, exuberant and ready to go. Marco was very friendly, knowledgeable and eager to show us the sights and share the history and culture of the area, as well as The Godfather movie. He was very professional while at the same time feeling like a good, long time friend. We stopped at all the notable and best locations and he was very patient while we took many pictures, asked lots of questions and even waited while we had cappuccino and biscotti at the famous Vitelly - the famous cafe from the movie. After an amazing afternoon, we parting ways left feeling we had made a new life, long friend. We could not recommend this tour - and Marco - more highly. Was definitely a highlight of our 2 week Italian vacation.
I had a wonderful trip (Godfather Private Tour in Savoca and Forza d'Agro), Marco is a great guide, he knows a lot of interesting anecdotes, is very involved and has a great knowledge of Sicilian history and customs. What's more important, Marco has a great sense of humor and I had a great time!
Amazing, interesting trip with stunning views. The guide - Marco has a great knowledge about the area and is really passionate about Godfather production and his job! It was a pleasure to be a part of this. Highly recommended when in Sicily.
We took The Godfather tour not knowing what to expect. Our tour guide Marco did a phenomenal job of explaining the whole experience of how the movie was made. Marco shared many details about the village, the church and the movie. The back story and the politics involved with the local people, Francis Ford Coppola and the movie studio was amazing. It was well worth it. We highly recommend Marco as your guide.
We had an amazing all-day private Godfather tour with Marco! The experience is worth having for anyone visiting Sicilia: history, movie sites, bar, stunning views, distant villages where you’re welcome with treats like caponata and parmigiana. All that and a great attention to details from Marco and his boss, made this trip a true highlight of our vacation. Love Italy!
Hello, we made a tour concerning the tour of the filming locations of The Godfather movie ! We recommend this visit! Our guide was really interesting and friendly! It was a great time to chat and find out a lot information about Godfather. We did a full tour from Savoca to Forza d'Agro. Thank you very much, we have a moment to remember ! Bye from France :)
Godfather Private Tour from Catania - Savoca, and Forza D'Agro was the best experience I had with my son. This July 2021 my son gave me the best present I ever had, it was his gift for my 60th birthday. He took me to Sicily and Italy. I never expected a tour of my dream, my favorite movie in my life - The Godfather, he set up this tour with a private guide, the guide was just wonderful. As we drove there with him, he drove us through St. Theresa Riva, Forza D'Agro, and Savoca. He explained every area that the film was recorded, he had the film on his phone as he explained. I loved every minute of the tour. It was just wonderful. My dream came true, viewing and being in the same site the Godfather was filmed. I will always remember it. The lunch and dinner/wine were just great "delicioso" and the trip "bellisimo".
This tour exceeded my expectations. It had to be the best day of my whole trip. Marco was my driver and tour guide and his passion for Sicily shone through. He was very friendly, extremely courteous and he knew everything about the Godfather trilogy. Each key spot in the film was magnificent, such stunning views and no crowds – it was almost like he had reserved these spots just for us, and we spent as much time as we needed in each location – Amazing! Marco made the trip memorable – truly. I would highly recommend this tour, this tour company and Marco as a tour guide. What a wonderful day.
Thankyou Omar, we had an excellent day. The tour was fantastic. Glad we went for a private guide as we could take the tour at our own pace. Bar Vitelli was amazing, could not have asked for a better day! Our tour guide Omar was professional and very informative. Excellent job, well done!
Marco picked us up from our Catania accommodation he provided two water bottles which we were so appreciative of plus he gave us a bag of oranges from his tree (unfortunately my husband left them behind husband was told off!) such a beautiful gesture. First stop was Savoca - Marco’s knowledge of the Godfather movies was outstanding, along the way he provided excerpts from the movie showing the scenes from Bar Vitelli and the church where Michael and Apollonia were married. We went inside this beautiful Chiesa - and we actually felt like we were part of the movie when we walked back down towards Bar Vitelli . Marco also provided really interesting information about the actress who portrayed Apollonia and Francis Ford Coppola. We stopped at Bar Vitelli (Savoca) for a coffee and the most delicious Italian sweet treat of a ricotta filled cannula shell which originated on the island of Sicily. Forza d Agro was next and Marco took us to the square beside the church where a significant part of movie took place whereby Michael Corleone was hidden inside a pack on the donkey. Marco then asked if we would like to walk to the highest point in Forza d Agro up these beautiful old, winding cobblestones streets that had amazing old Italian small villas some abandoned, some restored. The view when we reached the top was outstanding there was also a very ancient Roman castle built around 1117. Marco also provided lots of information about Taormina. We would love to come back during the spring. We really felt we knew Marco and his family, his mama and her cooking sounds amazing. To sum up Marco deserves a pay rise he is AWESOME!! Con amore Adriena & Craig Smith
This is a good tour even if you are not a "Godfather" fanatic. You drive into the mountains and see what "small town" life is like . There are magnificent views everywhere . Tour included a nice lunch at a local resturant where many families were having Sunday dinner
We had one of the best days of our Mediterranean cruise on a private tour of the Godfather movie sites in Sicily with Prestelli's guide Omar. Seeing and standing on the locations of such memorable scenes - particularly the wedding - of the iconic movie series was a thrill. And lunch with typical Sicilian food and wine while overlooking Savoca and the sea was delicious and beautiful. Importantly, the personal attention to our needs and pace wrapped the entire experience into a perfect day. Here's an "offer you cant refuse" - prepare for this tour by doing two things; watch the Godfather movies and ask for Omar to guide you!
Bruno our guide was fun not to mention A wonderful guide! He explained and showed us everything possible! We also stopped for a delicious lunch that was all farm fresh and fresh caught fish! Highly recommend this tour and especially ask for Bruno as your guide!
Marco was waiting for us at the port at expected and had fruit from his garden! We were pleasantly surprised by his amazing attention to detail and knowledge of Godfather information! Our friend is a super fan and the two were able to exchange info, ideas and made for a delightful tour. The wine tasting was superb with owner and enjoyed plenty of food, wine and laughter!
During our stay in Catania we took this exciting tour to the most famous Sicilian Godfather filming spots - Savoca and Forza D'Agro. Our wonderful guide Marco shared with us a lot of interesting details about the Godfather filming process, introduced us to the owner of the famous bar Vitelli and a Savoca local who played in the movie, briefed us on the history of real Sicilian mafia, and told about the present day life of ordinary Sicilians. We highly recommend Marco as a guide in this tour as he is really passionate about the movie and Sicily! Thank you for a great day!
Our guide Fabio was on time and greeted us with Sicilian traditional sweets (which I hasten to add was not part of the package). Nice drive to the area where the Godfather was filmed whilst at the same time showing us and telling us history of Sicily along the way. Our guide Fabio definitely knows his history and way around all the Godfather areas and with the food and wine tasting along the way, it was definitely one of the best experience we as a party of 3 have ever had (and we travel a lot). Really enjoyed the whole experience and was made more exceptional by the tour guide Fabio. We are planning to go back towards the end of the year to discover more of the area and intend to book through the same company / guide. Absolutely loved it and will fully recommend this tour. Worth every penny. You will not regret it. Thank you for making our stay that much more special.
Bruno was our driver for several outings one of which was the godfather tour. Always on time and arriving with a smile. He was a pleasure to be around, spoke fine English, was agreeable and knowledgeable about Godfather info as well as history and politics of Sicily.. We were a large group with 2 people in their nineties. lots of special requests which he willingly performed. In addition to our tour, Bruno also took us from Taoramina to the Catania airport... all 12 of us, wheelchair and luggage . He helped with everything possible. Great attitude, safe driver. Would call again for his services.
My husband and I are both very avid and detailed superfans of the movies. This tour is essentially why we spent 10 days in Sicily. Marco was our guide (for both this tour as well as the private Etna Winery tour). He was fabulous!!! There isn't one small detail that Marco does not know about the movies. In addition, you will learn A LOT about Sicilian culture, both historical and modern day. It is rare to meet someone with such a passion for their country. I highly suggest including the lunch/wine tasting at Dionysus (owned with love by a former biologist) in Savoca with a beautiful patio, beautiful view, great food and wine. It is well worth the money.
Beautiful and exciting tour. The guide Marco prepared and extremely good at making us relive the movie The Godfather.
Beautiful tour for fans and not of the film. Our guide Omar very prepared and friendly made us discover areas of Sicily otherwise unknown. Experience to try.
I'm passionate about the best man's film 1,2,3 and that's why I did the best man's tour, especially the restaurant located in savoca, have a beer, and buy a polo shirt, the hat, marveled I got off that trajectory
