Etna Morning Or Sunset - Trek & Lava Tunnel With Gear

Unfortunately, we were not able to make the trip due to the Mt. Etna eruption, but I still wanted to leave a review because our experience with the team leading up to the trip was fantastic. We really appreciated their quick and responsive communication, as well as how thorough and helpful they were in answering all of our questions and addressing our logistical concerns. They were incredibly accommodating and made us feel well taken care of, even though we ultimately had to cancel our trip due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. We’re looking forward to returning to Sicily and doing this hike with the team in the future. Based on our experience, I would have no hesitation joining them next time.  Thank you again for all of your help and support, we truly appreciate it!

First I saw this experience airbnb , it was amazing experience! The price was very reasonable as they provide jackets , pants , shoes and hiking stick as requested and even if its last minute or the participant was missing something , they had pre-prepared incase it happens. We really hike up to the mountain , the tour guide gave us stones , remains of the volcano as an example to see , teaches us about flowers , insects, birds that lives on the mountain , guiding us also the date of eruptions znd explaining how eruptions affects the city , Catania and so on and forth of knowledges than expected. Questions are answered thoughtfully as the tour guide are really experienced and we have no problem in communicating with them in english so there is no language barrier. We had even stop by for coffee and small treats near the mountain and soon we were given safety helmets to explore cave. They also offered pickup or meetup so it is really convenient for us tourist! We had a great time , learnt great knowledges and great experience! Best activity in Catania ever!

Pathetic organisation/communication and customer service. Tour was cancelled due to heat (completely fair) except no notification or advice given, until AFTER supposed departure time and after my messaging on whatsapp asking where the bus was/if im in the right location. For a tour departing at 830am they presumably made a decision to cancel much earlier in the morning and could have communciated this those booked earlier than at 835am….and i wonder if i had not whatsapped message when the cancellation notification would have even come!

The guides were knowledgeable, patient, friendly and kind - this was a great journey, I would recommend anybody who visits Sicily to see Mount Etna. She is glorious and you get to see so much of her in this tour.

I highly recommend the experience with Rafaella and Christopher. They were very professional, great guides, and super nice. They made the hike both safe and fun, and their knowledge of the local nature made the whole experience unforgettable. Lovely experience. Passionate guides, with great knowledge on mount etna. If you’ve never been on - or close to - a Vulcano, a must visit. It’s so different to see, feel and be on the Vulcano and translates all geography knowledge to a tangible experience. Also, great food tips. As any Sicilian would. NB; not a super active hike. More a walking tour!

Explore Mountain Etna was on my bucket list. And booking this tour was the BEST decision I've ever made! Raffaella explained how the crater was made, the local species and so on. Words can't describe how I felt about this journey... It was such a celestial experience. And the group was good too! Everyone was nice and open to the others. Amazing experience! The best tour you can do for trekking and hiking in the Etna mountain. I really enjoyed this tour, one of the best things I did this holiday. Also, the guides provide you with the hiking poles and a jacket in case you need them, and hiking shoes too. Highly recommend.

Guides were very knowledgeable, hiking was paced out well and the views were incredible. The terrain is very dusty, wear clothes you don’t mind getting covered in black dust!

We went on the sunset tour of the Etna with Chris and it was simply amazing. He’s super nice and knowledgeable, they provided us with everything we needed - shoes, walking sticks, helmets with flashlights, a backpack, jackets. It made things so easy for us, who needed to travel lightly with just backpacks and had no tech equipment with us. The views were a dream, and it felt like a real adventure because we did part of it after sunset. Couldn’t recommend it more, thank you! ❤️

We had an incredible experience hiking Mount Etna with our guide Andrea. He was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, passionate, and patient throughout the entire journey. Andrea took the time to explain the history, geology, and unique features of the volcano, making the hike not only scenic but also deeply enriching. We had an amazing trip with the best guide, Andrea. He was so good at explaining and joking at the same time. We had a really good experience with him and the other couples on the trek as well. The history behind Etna and the view from up there was incredible. This was the highlight of our trip to Catania.

I joined the sunset Etna hiking and I can’t recommend it enough. Our guide Andrea was very friendly, and knowledgeable. We started off at 4:30 from Catania and the drive took about an hour. Then we got our gears and started to hike. The trail wasn’t hard but in the beginning, it goes up and you will need some basic fitness level. We were provided with hiking shoes and a pair of hiking sticks. We made several stops to appreciate the view and learn about the volcano and the habitat on the mountain. I’m usually not a plant person, but the patches of green and pink plants on the black soils were very impressive. The mountain is beautiful and the hike is really enjoyable. Bring a big bottle of water, light snacks and an extra pair of socks. I also recommend to bring along wet napkins as you will be covered in black dust when coming down the mountain. Highly recommended!

We had such a great time with Rafaela and Christopher... they took the time to explain it all in both English and Italian and also answer any questions we might have had. We started a bit slow (different ages in the group) but by the end of it ,we were left so energised by the whole experience! Thank you guys for sharing your light and knowledge with us !

The volcano tour was absolutely awesome! I loved everything — the views, the vibe, the whole experience. I learned so much and felt a wave of positive emotions the whole time. Honestly, it was one of the highlights of my trip. Just wow!

The hiking adventure with Rafaella and Christopher was a very unique experience! They were both very friendly and knowledgeable about history of Mount Etna. It was well paced. I’m so glad that they were well equipped with the footwear and jackets because it got really windy at the Summit. On our descent, Christopher led us to lava ‘skiing’ all the way down to where we began the ascent. Fantastic experience that you don’t wanna miss! Thank you, guys!!

A truly wonderful day. Not just the hike up Etna and being shown the lava tunnel but Chrystopher and Rafaella really made it what it was. Wonderful humans full of knowledge. It wasn't just that we spent the day being guided along the most beautiful landscape but we also came away having learnt so much about Etna, the sciences of the volcano but also the history of it and the surrounding areas. I couldn't recommend enough to anyone, even the most armature of hikers, as we were.

A brilliant trip on Mount Etna with experienced guides; Chrystopher, Raffaella and Andrea. They were exceptionally friendly, helpful and provided us with coats, shoes and walking poles. They gave us really interesting information that we would not have picked up going on our own. The craters are stunning and the downhill “skiing” was super fun! Grazie Mille a Tutti!

Great tour! A beautiful hike up and down the volcano with lots of breaks to learn. The guides were great and I liked being away from the crowds. So happy I went!

We had an absolutely stunning experience with Raffaella and Chrystoffer on the top of the biggest active volcano in the world. I think it’s an absolute must visit while travelling through Sicily, and in my opinion this tour is the best choice for it. They pick you up in catania and after the one hour drive to Etna you’ll get to a kind of private spot, without any tourists, and start your hike. We chose the afternoon tour and were able to see the sunset on a big crater on top of Etna. In case you don’t bring your own hiking shoes or jackets, they will rent you some for free! They were so kind and had a lot of information about Etna. After this you’ll drive 30 minutes to a big magmatic cave, where you get more information about it and you are able to go through the cave with helmets and flashlights. Really cool experience, 10/10 would recommend.

I’m so happy I booked this tour with Raffaella and Cristoforo! There are so many Mt. Etna tours but I wanted one that truly felt like a hike, I have been on “hike tours” before where it’s barely a light walk! This one we really go up to different peaks alongside the volcano/mountain and it’s so much fun going up! Raffaella has equipment to assist, as well as shoes if you do not have. The tour was wonderful, the views were amazing, as well as the storytelling! Raffaella and Cristoforo both have great auras and are really cool and kind! The last part where we go inside a lava cave just elevated the experience even more, that was very unique! Communication was also great! I would totally recommend this tour to anyone looking to hike Mt. Etna!

Brilliant experience of Etna- Raffaella and Chrystopher had so much Etna knowledge and passion. All was really well organised and as a family (with a 10 and 12 year old), we were all well catered for. They followed up with local Catanian places to see and eat. Would really recommend to all.

We were never in favor of any guided tours until we’ve tried this one. It was a small group of 8 excursion, organized by two young, pleasant and professional locals. The whole 5 hours was all about Mt. Etna, no shopping at all different to our stereotype. The volcanic sand skiing was the most fun part! If you are visiting Sicily and Mt. Etna is in your schedule, go for this excursion and you will see and know everything about Etna plus a lot about Catania.

Me and my fiancee joined our lovely guides to Etna in july 2024. Communication/information before the trip was good and the excursion itself was absolutely amazing. This trip included transport from and to Catania, which was a good option for us. This is a must-do experience while in Sicily. Etna is a beautiful and unique volcano to visit and the guides make the the trip perfect with their easy-going attitude and expertise.

The tour was great! The very friendly tour guides accompanied us well and gave us a varied hike. The short and interesting information about the local cultural connection to Etna, as well as information about the flora and fauna of Etna, were particularly interesting. The guides are very well prepared and the small group size with other interested people rounds off the hike. I was astonished by the tour and the landscape. I won’t forget this experience any time soon!

Christopher and Raffaella were amazing guide. They are very helpful and willing to answer questions! They picked us up in the bus station, which is really so convenient for us as tourist for short stay in the city. We got the full equipment, so no need to worry about the under-preparation stopping the exploration of Etna. Thanks a lot!

The experience of being on Mt Etna was truly unique and special. The hike route includes a breathtaking view from an old crater. The route is generally not too hard on the cardio, but it can be challenging for people afraid of heights. Despite this, the guides offered assistance to everyone who needed it, including me! A great thing is that they provide jackets and shoes, so you can experience this even if you packed only for a sunny holiday.

There were many short breaks, photo opportunities and much knowledge about the Etna My highlight: Personally, I loved the descent back to the car - be surprised, I'm sure you will enjoy!
