Etna's Hidden Gems - Trek Valle Bove & Lava Tunnel With Gear

Wonderful excursion with two amazing guides. Our original early-morning booking was cancelled last minute and we were offered a later tour the same day, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Our tour guides were very prompt with communications and meet-up instructions. Both guides were amazing. No description or picture can do justice to experiencing Mt Etna in real life. Thanks to our tour guides, we had an unforgettable excursion to Mt Etna! I will not hesitate to book with them again.

Canceled my tour on a bright sunny day as FORECAST PROJECTED ! Went by myself, had the best time in my life.DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. Mine was through airbnb,same people-Raffaella and Chrystopher. Do NOT BOOK THEM. Unprofessional!

I wouldn't recommend. I had a bad experience. The organizer didn't do a good job. For me and my husband, it was a waste of time.

We booked this tour. But it was cancelled at half to 11 pm the day before the tour should be conducted. So we had no chance to book another tour. The reason of the tour guide for the cancellation was a bad weather forecast. But as I checked the forecast myself best weather was expected. The next day we went to Etna by public transport and did a guided tour to the summit. The weather was wonderful and also the tour. It is of course ok to cancel a tour, but the reason should be a true reason and not a lie. This is unacceptable. So I cannot recommend to book here a tour. Instead get with public transport to Etna (from Catania for just 6.50€) and do one of the guided tours there.

Chrys and Rafaella led a great tour of Etna. The trail was away from most tourists, which made it more special and they were very knowledgeable about their surroundings.

Awesome place one has to see once in life, awesome lady who told us the stories about the place, answered our weird questions and also gave us mini Italian lessons. Going alone is just not the same thing - the guide gave it the magic touch. We were provided with walking sticks, helmets for a cave we visited at the end (which were necessary, since we bumped with our head at the ceiling of the cave), a water bottle and a small sweet snack. Even hiking shoes were provided. Tip: We advise you to take the provided shoes, because you walk in sand/small stones and sink in a bit and afterwards the shoes were full of small stones and also the wear and tear for the shoes is quite high. Even if you are an older person or don't have such a high fitness level, you should be able to do the tour. That is actually the nice thing: Low effort, high reward! (The place is great and you get transferred quite high by car uphill). If you can control your kids it is also suitable for them - a mountain is obviously a dangerous place. The only negative thing we have to mention: The cave tour is a bit short, but there were >100 positive things and we don't want to spoil your experience, just let yourself get surprised, it is more than just a hike. We were glad we booked it, really deserved the 5*, the guide cared personally for us and didn't see us just as customers. One of our highlights of our Sicily trip :)

Chrystopher and Rafaella were amazing guides, the route through the Etna’s hills and sands rewards you with views not of this Earth. Perfect experience.

The communication and booking of the tour was uncomplicated. Our tour guide was really friendly and chose a beautiful tour - not too exhausting but still a good hike. The landscape was amazing and we met no tourists on the way, only locals. Jumping down the vulcanic sand dunes was our highlight! I recommend wearing long trousers because of some thorny plants alongside the track (I wore shorts and it was still fine). The guide provides you with hiking sticks and when needed you can also request hiking shoes and other equipment. The tour was the highlight of our trip to Sicily and is a must when visiting Etna!!

Amazing! We had a lovely time exploring Mt Etna - the views were absolutely stunning, the trail was as described (off the beaten track with few travelers/tourists), lots of breaks to admire the scenery and learn about the ecology of Etna. Our guide, Egle, was very friendly and shared her passion for Etna. An experience not to be missed!

We enjoy every single aspect of the excursion. But, all the facts and little stories about the mont Etna made the experience so special.

We had such a good day with Raffaela. It was an adventure with action and good spots to take photos. The price is super fair and she gave us many informations about the Edna and Catania. The absolutely highlight was at the end, when we went down. Let yourself be surprised. ;)

The Etna tour with Chrystopher and Raffaella was an unique experience. I found out a lot of interesting things about Etna, Catania. I totally recommend it, if you want to get out of your confort zone and find out new things :)

We really enjoyed the Etna Tour with Raffaella and Chrystopher. They are super nice, they gave us a lot of information and the tour was really fun and well planned!

The best part was by far coming down the volcano but the whole day was really well planned and lots of fun! The views were amazing where we were taken, and it was nice to hear about the history of the volcano and about Catania as well 🌋 Thank you Raffaela and Chrystopher! ☺️

The Etna tour was awesome and I highly recommend it. Christopher and Raffaellla explained us many interesting things with wit and charm, so it was never boring. The tour offered different routes - first through small forests and then the run over lava sand. It was great and we had a lot of fun.

Thanks to Rafaela and Christoph, our tour to Etna was an awesome experience! Not just they told us a lot of interesting facts about Etna, but they also showed us a Valley of Ox and took us to "sand skiing", things you will not get with regular bus tour. Not to forget to mention, they also took us to see one of the caves made by volcano eruption. All recommendations for these guys.

Small group, knowledgeable guides, interesting stories and breathtaking views. High-speed running down the volcanic slope is a special fun. Gathering the group in the center, you can discuss the disembarkation closer to the place of residence. Recommend.

It was an amazing adventure, maybe the most exciting thing that happened on our vacation in Sicily. This was one of the best experiences in my whole life. Raffaella and her friend (I forgot his name) are amazing tour guides. You immediately know how passionate they are about the Etna. They know everything about its' story and all the plants and stones you can find there. We learned so much and being on the Etna is an absolutely unique experience, it feels like visiting another planet. You absolutely have to visit it if you are in Sicily. The best part of the trip was a little surprise at the end. I won't tell to much because it should stay an surprise for you too, but it surely made hell of fun. At the end we also visited a lava cave, which was also an unique experience for itself. At the end they even drove us home to our AirBnB. I would recommend this excursion für 10000% and would do it again for sure even if I already visited the Etna. Thank you so much for everything.

It was a really great experience. The hike is not that difficult and can be easily adjusted to your pace. The views are incredible and changes with every turn. The guide was helpful and provided not only with interesting information but with all needed equipment as well.

This hike to Etna was definitely an unforgettable experience! I booked this great experience via airbnb and everything was very good. I did my trip alone but l was Part of the Group and felt always comfortable. Both guides were very helpful and friendly and the best was, that they come from Sicily and studied what they talked about. l heard from other companies that my tour was better, with more love and not "commercial" just to own money. I had the impression, that we got a great experience and enjoyed our day in a familiar habitat with nice people who love what they Do. I really liked the Sand surfing in the end. Greetings Sandra

The tour was incredible and our guide Raffaela was wonderful ! We had the best views of the volcano meanwhile Raffaela explained us several things during the walking.

The tour was fantastic and a lot of fun, and we learned a lout about the wildlife and nature surrounding the Etna. The hike wasn’t as demanding as I expected because we paused a lot to have a look around and drink our water/ take pictures. The guide had much knowledge and was able to answer every question.

This was so much fun! The surprise at the end was very cool! There was one lady who knew Etna like the back of her hand and one who knew everything about the local flora. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing tour to Etna! They made the most of the tour and we couldn’t be more happier to have taken part in it! We were able to see the top of the volcano from the best spot possible and we skied down the mountain through the sand. They made sure to inform us about all the special plants and conditions on etna! Later we were also taken to a real volcano cave!! Thank you so much for the day!

The excursion was on another level ! Raffaella and Chrystopher are the nicest persons. They know so much about volcanos and the history of Aetna. You can feel free to ask any questions to them. They provided us with all the equipments needed for a hike (warm jacket, hiking shoes, water, snack) They made sure that we see different landscape, going through different paths,ski through the black sand. They took videos and pictures of us in moments we wouldn’t be able to. Bought us back to our Airbnb. Great vibe!!! Couldn’t be happier to have met them and done this experience with them. They even took us to a cave at the end!! Completly recommend !

The 2 guides were brilliant, really informative during the hike and good communication leading up to it. We saw amazing views and we provided with relevant equipment.

Everything about our trip was excellent. Christopher and Raffaella are fantastic guides, very knowledgeable about the volcanic activity, the plants, and the animals living on Etna. The hike was vigorous and they were also able to recommend a restaurant to eat in after our excursion, where we enjoyed a very nice dinner. They were also very professional, arrived early at our meeting place and their communication and English were very good. I wouldn't change anything about the day and wish them good luck on all of their future adventures. :)

The excursion with Raffaela and Chrystopher was absolutely amazing! They showed us all the beautiful sides of Etna far from the really touristy paths. They are both true nature lovers and show you every little beautiful detail you can discover on Etna. They truly show their passion for Etna and you will definitely enjoy the tour. We chose to visit Etna with Chrystopher as our guide after seeing his excellent reviews on Airbnb. It was my husbands 60th birthday and Chrystopher made the day a very special one. He met us on time at a designated easy to find location in Catania and drove us with his assistant up to the starting point. He provided walking poles, water and even cake!!! The pace we took was considerate for all members of the group and flora and fauna were pointed out along the way. Etna was fabulous and even obligingly let out some steam for us!! After as long as we needed to take photographs we set off back to the vehicles and actually ‘skied’ down the lava ash to them. Fabulous fun! I would highly recommend a trip to Etna with Chrystopher. He was the perfect host!

It was amazing! They showed us all the great spots, we were lucky because of the time - we could enjoy it with beautiful colors of the sunset :) Chrystopher was very friendly and comitted - brought us from the centre and gave us a lift later, very nice. Without them we couldn’t have experienced it that way - really recommended :) maybe pictures can convey the remarkability. Grazie mille per tutto!
