This was a brilliant tour! We got to see a few different filming locations from the Inspector Montalbano tv series (including the outside of his house by the sea and the police station). Our guide and driver, Peter, was fantastic. He had excellent knowledge on all the locations we stopped at. He spoke English perfectly. He was polite and friendly and he really made the tour special. Grazie Mille!!

Great day out visiting the many sights of where the TV programme was set. Knowledgeable guide; Peter, looked after us all the way.
A great way to see the Montalbano sights of course, but also see some of Sicily. Our guide (Carmelo) was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Thank you, Alessio, our most knowledgeable driver and guide, for a wonderful Montalbano experience.
If you're a Montalbano fan, this is the trip for you. Peter took us to all the sites of the filming, it was great to be there. Our guide was really helpful with local knowledge too and had lots of patience for photos and walkabouts too. Really good experience.
Absolutely wonderful tour with a fantastically friendly and helpful guide - Peter. He went over and above what we hoped for. Over 9 hours seeing lots of Montalbano sites, even taking a slight detour to see a filming location that wasn’t on the schedule - Fornace Penna, Scicli. It should be on the tour. Magnificent site. Careful driver who spoke excellent English. Comfortable black Mercedes mini-carrier with smoked windows which felt like we were VIPs. Stop offs were just the right times and durations. The people we met in the offices/palaces/cafes were so friendly and welcoming. There were severe winds at Punta Secca following a cyclone (that’s March for you) but that and the Scicli police offices were brilliant. The other stops showed off magnificent views of hillside towns. Plenty of opportunities for scenic photographs.
We really enjoyed our tour and Carmelo and Peter were very good tour guides. Thank you both!
Great tour with very well balanced activities between Montalbano and barocco. A lot to see! Carmelo was great!
Our driver/guide for this day tour was Carmelo who was exceptional in all ways - driving carefully, patient, prepared about both Sicily's history and the filming (& curiosities) of Commissario Montalbano. We visited Scicli (police headquarters and the Duomo), Punta Secca (Montalbano's house, lighthouse and restaurant (sea was rough but seen its location from a safe place), Ragusa (Duomo, film locations, Iblea Garden and the and it's magnificent views). We had a quick lunch at Ai Lumi Trattoria Tipiċi (was excellent and accommodating). Finally, Modica where e stopped for the opening scene view of the city dominated by the Duomo. We then visited the Duomo itself dedicated to St George and also the church of St Peter. It was a certainly unforgettable experience which we will always remember. We will plan future day trips with this tour company. Thank you Carmelo and Sicily Grand Tour.
Driver/Guide delivered to a high standard across all services. Friendly, informed and relaxed, setting the perfect vibe for our group of 3. Flexible, fun, efficient and responsive. The tour has a good mix of TV and historical venues, sitting time and visiting tine.
Perfect for Montalbano fans. Our guide, Carmelo, was very knowledgeable about the film locations and the series. All the towns we visited were beautiful.
This driving tour was for fans of the great Italian detective series, Montalbano. We went to 4 towns in SE Sicily where key location sets of Montalbano’s fictional town of Vigata were filmed; notably the police station, Montalbano’s iconic beachfront house, the main square cathedral, and one other. Our driver and guide, Carmelo, was fantastic, knowledgeable and personable. The only complaint is that the van was noisy and Carmelo should have had a portable microphone in the van so those in the rear could hear him when he talked while driving. The tour was long, but excellent and highly recommended for Montalbano fans like us. The mountainous town views were spectacular.
This trip was worth every penny , Carmelo our guide was a great guy ,helpful , friendly and informative. The tour truly was a delight , you wouldn’t even need to be a fan of the show to appreciate the beauty of Modica , Ragusa and Punta Secca. To see Montalbano’s house , stand in his office was brilliant. We even had some refreshments at Enzo a Mare . Highlight of our holiday and highly recommended.
I highly revommend this tour. Our guide was very knowledge and professional. I am a wheelcair user, and although the tour was not advertised as disability accessible, our guide, Carmello did his best to be helpful and attentative. The tour also included visits to other places of interest. It was definitally a high point of our visit to Catania. 100% Maggie and Colin Hannan
Montebalno's office took my breath away. Was not expecting that! Carmelo, our guide, was so intent on ensuring we had wonderful experience. It was a long day but a great day.
The pick up and drop off at my hotel were at my request and were on time. the guide, Carmelo, had excellent knowledge of Inspector Montalbano, was courteous and very friendly. I was travelling alone, and 3 others were in the group, and we all got on famously. The sites were saw - his house, the lighthouse, the police station, the view when the program starts and other sites were so incredible and exciting. I went in September, which was a good time of year as the sites were not crowded and plenty of good photos were taken. Highly recommended.
All the places we visited were superb and just as beautiful as the TV series which we watched in lockdown during the pandemic
There were only three of us on the tour with Carlos our obliging guide and driver. Highlights for us were Montalbano's beach house, his favourite restaurant at Ragusa, visiting the Vigata police station movie-set at the town hall in Scicli, and seeing Modica which is the city featured in the opening to each episode. (The town hall visit is an additional cost but well worth 6 euros a head.) We did not get to see the Mafia boss's house 18km from Ragusa which we could have done if we had not visited churches and a chocolate shop. Overall it was a very enjoyable day - an experience not to be missed by Montalbano fans.
Well planned excursion with visits to all Montalbano landmarks. Excellent guide in Carmelo. Very good service from Trenitalia which allowed us to participate from Acireale.
This was a tremendous tour! Our guide Gianmarco was outstanding, even if you’re not a fan of Il Commasario Montalbano you will immensely enjoy seeing all the other sites the cities have to offer. Make sure to add this tour to your list of things to do
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip with the important places from the programmes covered, plus got to see a less touristy sude of Sicily, well worth it and highly recommend
As a Montalbano fan this was absolutely everything I hoped for and more. Our drivers took us to Punta Secca (Montalbano's house, lighthouse), Scili (commissariato, questura), Modica (chocolate, San Giorgio, the church), Ragusa Ibla (various scenes). We spotted some of the aerial views in the opening credits, plus some locations I didn't know about. It's amazing how the RAI filmmakers could make a small area look spacious. I'll have to view all the films again. Thank you for a wonderful day and memories. Go with these Sicily Grand Tour professionals, don't risk it with a amateur tour company.
A fabulous trip with a great guide. However, we felt that entry fees should have been included in the trip.
Rustian was a very competent, patient, and friendly guide. He was always on time and available to answer questions. We liked everything about the trip including the guide who took us through Montalbano's office at the questura.
An absolute must for Montalbano fans. Fabulous tour and our guide Rustian was first class. Well organised and provided lots of information.
Great tour with an excellent guide. Lovely to see the gorgeous scenery featured in the series. The trip to “Vigata police station” & Montalbano’s beach-side home were highlights. There was a lot of driving across country to & from the sites, however, so he prepared for that.
My wife and I had a great day with Alessio guiding us through Ragusa to Salvo`s house . Very interesting learning about the history of Sicily as well as things I did`nt already know about Inspector Motalbano , together with the amazing views of the locations . Also the Mocica chocolate experience .
There was lack of communications before the event and the trip was not as advertised. It was sold as 4 stops, including a chocolate tasting at Modica, but our guide, who was an independent guide, normally only does 3 stops (Scicli, Punta Secca and Ragusa) therefore she didn’t take us to Modica. This was very disappointing as we picked this trip and paid extra for the longer itinerary. Overall what we visited was nice and our guide Sandra was knowledgeable and a good driver, but the tour operator should update the advert as it’s misleading!
Our guide was excellent , pointing out places of interest on the journey It was just the two of us and our guide which could have been awkward but she was so friendly we had a fabulous day. If your a Montalbano fan you will love this
Our guide was the wonderful Daniela, we had a great day! She was not only attentive but informative, fun, easy going and engaged with each of us on the tour to personalise the experience with relevant info etc. We had a slight hiccup about start time (not the fault of Daniela) but it all went smoothly after that. It was a little bit of a squeeze with 3 adults in the back of the car, but I’d recommend this tour nonetheless. The scenery, over all pace and Montalbano places were all perfect. A holiday highlight!
We 4 Canadian couples spent a wonderful time with Alessio visiting many of the Baroque towns of southeast Sicily and places where Montalbano was filmed. We spent time in Ragusa Lbla, Modica, Punta Secca, Scicli and many other beautiful spots. Not only did we see Montalbano’s house, office, mafia leader’s palace, his favourite, restaurant, etc. we learned much and experienced the beautiful southeast towns. We even stopped in Modica for a chocolate tasting. Alessio was a great raconteur and so very knowledgeable. He easily answered all our curious questions about Sicily, even the offbeat ones. He picked us up at 9 am sharp, and we didn’t return until after dark. I would highly recommend this patient, positive and enthusiastic guide. We will always have great memories of that special day.
The tour was fantastic thanks to Alessio who made our day so enjoyable and relaxing too. He was so knowledgeable about montalbano and about the area and its history. We arrived straight from the airport and it was the best way to start our holiday. We had time to wander round in the towns that we visited and we had a great authentic street food lunch. Highly recommended!!
My wife and I visited Catania in May 2022 and booked a private tour of the Commissario Montalbano series locations (Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Punta Secca, and Scicli) with Alessio of Sicily Grand Tour. During the COVID-19 pandemic we watched the Montalbano series from our home in the United States and thoroughly enjoyed the show and the stunning locations of Baroque Sicily, set primarily in the Ragusa province. We made sure to book a tour that covered these areas when planning our Sicilian honeymoon. Alessio picked us up from our hotel in Catania and drove us to the recognizable filming locations of the series. Alessio explained the uniqueness of the Ragusa province and its declaration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s beautiful landscapes and architecture play an important role in the Montalbano series. The tour locations were all very nice, transporting you into the fictional world of the Montalbano series. At Scicli, you visit the police station that is maintained exactly as it appears in the series, including Commissario Montalbano’s office and the famous door that always seems to slip out of Catarella’s hand. At Punta Secca you visit Montalbano’s iconic beach house that overlooks the sea in which he often swims. Punta Secca is somehow even more beautiful in-person than in the series! Though my wife and I were simply interested in seeing the iconic locations of the Montalbano series, as well as discover a new part of Sicily we have never seen before, our tour was made further memorable by our tour guide, Alessio. During our ride from Catania to the Ragusa province, we spoke to Alessio about the series and shared our opinions about the show’s characters, episodes, and finale. Upon arriving at our locations, Alessio was very happy to answer my many questions about the history of Ragusa and Sicily as a whole. He explained the story of the Sikels, the Greek Colonists, the Normans, Arabs, and the legend of the Sicilian Vespers. I was also very impressed by his knowledge of Federico II di Svevia (Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor) who was an important figure in Sicilian and Southern Italian history, and an interest of mine. As it turns out, Alessio is a sort of Sicilian “renaissance man”: an educated historian, musical composer, musician, occasional actor, and expert tour guide! After a full day of travel around the Ragusa province, and seeing the many iconic locations of Commissario Montalbano, we traveled back to Catania. We further discussed Sicilian history and culture, including the Sicilian tradition of cantastorie by artists such as Orazio Strano. Alessio was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly, he even provided us with tour advice when we later traveled to other areas of Sicily. Though my wife and I booked several tours on our Sicilian honeymoon, the Commissario Montalbano tour was certainly our favorite. The next time we are in Sicily we will be sure to book another excellent tour with Alessio and Sicily Grand Tour. We highly recommend! Thank you Alessio! Matt & Marie
So exciting for a Commissario Montalbano fan! I got to see his house and dip my toes in the water where he lived. I saw the office where he worked and many places where scenes were shot, all while learning about these baroque towns from our knowledgeable guide. Unforgettable!
Thanks for a wonderful tour from a very nice guide , who was most knowledgeable not only about Montalbano and Sicily but historical and political facts . The tour was great we were picked up from outside our accommodation in Via Teatro Massimo in the Centre of Catania as promised and taken round all the sights that you see on the Montalbano series shot in Sicily. Although the restaurant where Montalbano normally eats was closed , we ate at a nice place just along side the veranda of Montalbano’s house . Thanks for a great day , Charlie & Maureen Clarke, Aberdeen, SCOTLAND.
This was the perfect tour. It covered all that we wanted to see from the Commissario Montalbano programmes but also, our guide, Alessio, was also extremely interesting and well-versed in the overall history and geography of Sicily. He spoke perfect English and Italian and was very accommodating and the length of the tour was just right.
You will encounter the landscapes and places just as seen in the series. It is being inside the filming essence.
It is one of the most interesting!! Very curious details about the different settings of the series. We visited all the locations where they filmed.
Fantastic experience, see the places narrated by the great Maestro Camilleri, seen in the series "Il commissario Montalbano" was a pleasant and fun adventure. Scicli, Ragusa, Modica, Punta Secca, really deserve to be visited. A big applause to our driver Carmelo, who accompanied us in these beautiful places with professionalism and availability. Thank you. Highly recommended. Good.
Our tour with Carmelo was exceptional! He was extremely prepared, engaging about the places that hosted our favorite drama about Commissioner Montalbano. He was also able to perfectly balance historical information about the cities of Ragusa and Modica with curious anecdotes and adapted the pace of the tour to our needs, creating an unforgettable experience. Simone and Elena.
The tour has been impressive for 2 fans of the series El comisario Montalvano. Very complete and exciting. Rustian a pleasant and professional guide. He knows details of the series' episodes, characters and locations. We wouldn't mind repeating the experience.
If you love the series or the books of Camillieri. If you know who Catarella, Salvo, Livia, Augello are and want to see the emblematic places where their lives go by, this is your tour. Also the landscapes because they are also characters of the series, in a beautiful area of Sicily, where Vigata and Montelusa, come to life. All this thanks to great guides, with great knowledge and to whom you can ask any question, 'in person, personally'🤣 The best moment, Salvo’s office” Highly, highly recommended.
Pleasant experience with a great accompanist, Alessio, has been able to make this your unforgettable with great professionalism and competence, he immersed us in the locations of the drama as if we were on set! Bravo and thanks again
