Chocolatier, Giuseppe & his Team are passionate about their craft; our group of 4ppl learned sooo much about small-batch production, sourcing & flavor profiles. Each of us made 4x small bars & added fruits, nuts & spices of our choice. Super Fun experience!

You’ll learn to recognize their aromas, origins, and quality, select the best beans, and witness the roasting process, when cacao develops intense and complex fragrances. You’ll continue with grinding and refining, discovering how the beans turn into cacao mass and then into true artisan bean-to-bar chocolate. Along the way, you’ll taste cacao at different stages of processing, understanding the differences between artisanal methods and industrial production. Finally, you’ll create your own personalized chocolate bar, choosing and adding ingredients to suit your taste and packaging it yourself. While waiting for the bar to set, you’ll take part in a guided tasting of all our artisan bean-to-bar chocolate lines, exploring aromatic profiles, cacao origins, and different cocoa percentages. A delicious keepsake to take home and share with loved ones—or to enjoy on your own—capturing the full experience of being a chocolatier.

It was very fun and I learned a lot. It did run a little long, but as long as you have the time it is worth it!
Really wonderful experience! It was fun, interactive, and we learned so much. The chefs are personable and welcoming, it felt like we could have stayed and chatted forever. Highly recommend!
Giuseppe and Vincenzo were excellent engaging hosts for our chocolate-making experience. We learned the process for small batch cacau from importing beans to eating bars. It was a fun and interesting afternoon in Modica the home of superb chocolate in Sicily. As we are biking through the Baroque region our homemade Cacau bars are the afternoon snack that gets us to the next village.
Stupendous. Hands-on guided by enthusiastic experts. Great fun.
We spent the afternoon with Giuseppe and Vincenzo right after the New Year and we really enjoyed it. We learned so much about the different beans coming from Africa vs S. America and the traditional chocolate making without butter as done in Modica. Getting hands on making our own chocolate bars and decorating with nuts and MMs etc was particularly rewarding as we are still enjoying the fruit of our work! Giuseppe and Vincenzo make it all entertaining and even have some comic duo energy between them that makes this experience even more fun ! Really memorable, definitely a must if you have teenage kids!
Intimate chocolate making experience led by artisanal chocolatier. Grateful for the translation in English. We all enjoyed being a part of every step of the chocolate making process including adding our unique touches and wrapping the beautiful bars!
Learning to make chocolate was so much fun for our family - and eating artisan chocolate as we went along an awesome bonus!!
Giuseppe, Vincenzo and Jessica provided a detailed, informative and fun experience in their chocolate lab. Our group had a great time learning about the chocolate making experience and the personal chocolate bars we made were an added benefit. If you want to learn about Modica chocolate, this is the tour to take.
This is an absolutely amazing Modica chocolate experience. We learned so much about the history of Modica chocolate and the whole production process. It is extremely hands on and the team is so warm and generous with their time. Highly recommended.
Wonderful experience! We did everything from sorting through the cocoa beans before roasting to finishing our own chocolate bars and all the steps in between. Giuseppe is very passionate about his craft and so great at explaining all the processes. He speaks Italian and had an interpreter who was awesome at conveying all the information and instructions.
the 3 of us had a wonderful experience learning about the process of chocolate making from raw cocoa beans. Fascinating! You will spend 3 to 4 hours hands on and then tasting. You will learn about the countries that sell beans such as Siere Leone, Ecuador, Dominion Republic and Peru! Only suggest is to see the cute black aprons we wore during our experience.!!!
Really, really disappointed. Booked this a few weeks ago, a chocolate making experience in English. Was messaged today to say I would be charged an extra €50 for an English translator ( 27 hours notice!) leaving me no option but to cancel.
From beginning to the end (5 hours later) this was a rollercoaster of absolute delight and generosity. Learning and getting involved with the processes of how proper chocolate is made. We even got to make our own chocolate bars.
The people behind this were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us, we had an issues locating the place and the owner came and picked us up which went over and above which was amazing, they were so helpful and we had a great time learning about the chocolate and making it from bean to choc bars! - really good value for money and fantastic experience, the interpreter lady was very helpful as well - we would 100% recommend this
This was our best experience in our 5 days in Sicily. Vincenzo and Giuseppe are super passionate about their work. The tour was supposed to take 3 hours but we spent over 4 hours and we went home with 8 chocolate bars which we had made ourselves. We truly recommend this.
We had a bit of a disaster re the meeting point and was unfortunately unable to attend. However both the chocolate company and tripsdvisor/viator have done their upmost to put right. I cannot fault their customer service since. I would ask though that there were clearer instructions on how to contact when any problems arise. I found it confusing as to who to contact also whether it be trip advisor or viator.
What a delightful experience! My husband, adult daughter and I had a fabulous time learning how to make Modica chocolate. Not only did we learn, but we participated in each part of the process, and took home 8 chocolate bars of our own creation. A wonderful interpreter was available, and we all had fun. We highly recommend this tour-- you will learn how Modica chocolate is different than "normal" chocolate. While you wait for your bars to solidify (then wrap and take home!), you get to taste a wide variety of their delicious creations. This is truly artisanal, quality chocolate. If you are visiting Southeast Sicily, it is worth the trip to Modica! (5 stars to Modica, too, great town).
We had an absolutely fantastic time at the chocolate lab, where we learned the fascinating process of making Modica chocolate during a private tour. The experience was incredibly hands-on, allowing us to create our own chocolate bars with a variety of toppings. It was a delightful activity that lasted over 2.5 hours, yet the time flew by because we were having so much fun. The staff were exceptional—friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient, especially with the kids. They took the time to explain every step of the chocolate-making process, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, could follow along and enjoy the experience. The private tour made the experience even more special, as we had the undivided attention of the staff, creating a truly personalized and intimate atmosphere. One of the highlights was the dégustation at the end, where we sampled various types of their exquisite chocolate. Each bite was a testament to the care and craftsmanship that goes into their products. It was a perfect way to round off a memorable experience. I highly recommend this private tour for families, couples, or anyone with a love for chocolate. It’s an engaging, educational, and delicious experience that you won't want to miss!
We had such a fun time at the Modica Chocolate Factory, it’s like an actual Willy Wonka Factory! They were so nice and accommodating , they even set up a little party for one of my daughter’s birthday! It’s a fun, exciting and DELICIOUS experience, we would definitely go back again!
This will be one of these precious memories my fiance and me will hold forever when we look back at our Sicily trip! ✨ Giuseppe and Enzo made this unique experience of creating our own bar of chocolate from bean to bar so exciting, funny and remarkable! One can tell that they love what they do and don’t hesitate sharing both their passion for and experience with creating traditional Cioccolato Grezzo (di Modica). As a non native-Italian speaker I sometimes needed to ask them to repeat some words quickly spoken, but all in all I could understand and communicate without major proboems. We can definitely recommend diving into the world of traditional chocolate-making in a very personal, Italian way and get your hands dirty for delicious chocolately results (that will also hold as amazing souvenirs for friends & family)! 🍫
Hilarious and super interesting experience. My family and I had the pleasure of creating our favorite chocolate bar or rather our favorite chocolate bars (as many as 4 each). The unexpected thing is that we decided everything. We chose the type of cocoa to be used, the percentages of sugar, the type of sugar (the beet is spectacular), we decided whether to leave it pure or add the ingredients that have made available to us. We selected the cocoa beans, roasted them (you can't imagine what perfume), obtained melted the mass and started CREATING.... In short, we really became chocolatiers for a day. I recommend it to everyone... young and old.
I had the pleasure of participating in the experience together with Giuseppe and Vincenzo and it was really unforgettable. Giuseppe, with great passion and clarity, guided us on a real journey to discover cocoa, illustrating in a detailed and engaging way all the steps that lead from the cocoa bean to the finished chocolate. He was extremely exhaustive in his explanations, always ready to respond to all our curiosity and to enrich the story with concrete examples and even with some videos that made the experience even clearer and more interesting. The best part was that we didn't just observe, but we made the chocolate ourselves, guided step by step, following the two "bean to mass" "bean to bar" steps. To make everything even more special Vincenzo thought, who at the end guided us in a tasting of the different types of chocolate, transmitting us, as throughout the trip, their great expertise. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to live a unique moment between culture, craftsmanship and sweetness.
We had an extraordinary time with an explosion of flavors, tastes, smells. We left with exciting explanations, gifts and our personalized tablets. It was magic.
I got this gift from my husband for my birthday. This was a truly fantastic experience! Very funny chocolatiers with a lot of passion for the profession. Learned a lot and could make / decorate a lot of chocolate myself and got it. The chocolate was also really delicious (comes from someone in Belgium;) ) don't hesitate and just book, you won't regret it:)
Super passionate chocolatiers. The process is explained in detail and they will take you through which you will also work. Super nice that there was an interpreter who helped with translation. Tasted a lot of chocolate and made a lot of chocolate and you get it all with you!
I attended the course with my daughter and I highly recommend it. In addition to having a lot of fun we learned a lot about chocolate thanks to the passion with which Mr. Giuseppe explains the different steps of processing. It is really worth participating
We did a super fun chocolate-making workshop with the family (with 2 kids aged 7 and 10) given by Guiseppe, Vincenzo and interpreter Pietro. Modica is known for its special chocolate! The men really took their time with us and took us through the whole process. While hardening our own chocolate we got a delicious and extensive tasting session!! What fun and passionate men. It was a wonderful party and we got our own chocolate in golden wrappers for dessert!! Top
