Cesarine: Dining & Cooking Demo At Local's Home In Palermo

I was the only attendee who showed up for the cooking event. Is it for this reason, my experience was considered an after thought by the host? I read previous reviews where attendees raved about how much fun they had. I was promised a 4 four course dinner and cooking demo which I got. In terms of food, I got a few slices of bread with olive oil. There wasn't an appetizer. The pasta dish and meat course were fine. Dessert never came because host had a problem with it. She didn't offer a backup Dessert. I attended dinner/cooking class or demo before. I had a great time. This time around, it felt like an after thought. Host could have canceled it and offered a refund so this way spare both parties the hassle. When I reached out to Cesarine for an explanation. The agent said she would look into it. After a few days, I never heard back.

After two weeks in Sicily, we can so warmly report that our event of pasta-making class and 4-course dining with Francesca was a top highlight. We were welcomed into her beautiful kitchen in Bagheria with open-arms and deep conversation about food and culture. From the pasta-making to the perfect appetizers, first and second courses, topped off with local fruit and sorbets, it was a magical evening we won't forget. The hands-on cooking class was wonderful! It was fun. We made pasta Norma, chickpeas fritters, and a beautiful salad. I highly recommend.

What a truly special morning cooking with Alice. I enjoyed our chats around family, history, and culture while preparing some wonderful recipes. Our meal was a highlight of my time in Palermo.

This was one of the most flavorful meals I’ve ever partaken of, and our hostess Francesca was the best. We won’t forget this!

I had the most delicious 4 course dinner prepared by Alice with a little help from me and husband Francesco. It was true Silician Style food cooked to perfection. Alice was a wonderful hostess! She and her husband shared many wonderful cooking tips and Sicilian facts. Her home was warm and welcoming- it was so fun to stand around her table and prepare appetizers! Our meal on the beautiful terrace will always be a great memory of delicious food and wonderful company!

We were paired with Francesca, who is such a lovely and warm person. We made our own pasta and tasted the delicious food at Francesca’s lovely home. We loved our experience and I would definitely recommend this to everyone!

My family had a cooking class with Alice and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily! We made ravioli, busiate and cavatelli and three different sauces to go with them and all were delicious! Alice and Francesco were delightful! They even accommodated our fish/shellfish/tree nut allergies. Alice was a great instructor, the conversation was wonderful, their home was cute, comfortable, and easy to get to. It is in a great location, close enough to the city center that we were able to visit the Quattro Canti and the Capo Market before our class and easily walk to their home for the class. If we are ever in Palermo again, we will definitely do another class with Alice! Highly recommend, you won't regret it!

Unfortunately, we were unaware that this involved climbing 6 flights of stairs. It would have been helpful to have had this information. We booked this specifically to have a personal exchange rather than cooking experience. Our expectation was that we would be able to learn more about life in the city and to share experiences as we would when we invite guests to our home. The lack of a major commonality of language didn't allow for the intimate informal experience that we were expecting. As a consequence, this felt awkward and uncomfortable.

Alice and Francessco were wonderful! Food was AMAZING. Alice taught very well, she was very knowledgeable and communicated well. Both were very personable. If you are looking for an authentic Sicilian dining experience, want to learn Sicilian food, and enjoy meeting a wonderful Sicilian couple, you should do this!!

Alice and her partner Francesco did a fantastic job and we really enjoyed the 2 evenings with them. Seasonal and natural cooking with old and traditional recipes is seldom to find and Alice and Francesco have specialized on that. We went twice and would have gone more often given the time. You find real tradition very seldom in our days. All the best to you both from Eva and Michael-back in Germany.

Alice and franscesco were amazing hosts. They are both extremely likeable ppl and we had great conversations. The food was soooo good. I was raving about it to all of my friends. Book this cooking experience. You will not regret it

Rosa is the kind of person you wish was your neighbour so you could pop by her for a chat and some delicious food in her cosy home every week. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of the time we had in her company, she is a great teacher and got us involved in the cooking from the start. Cooking some of her family recipes was great fun and we learnt so much. I will look back at our evening with her as one of the highlights of our vacation.

Rosa was really amazing! She is a 5-star chef and made us feel like part of her family, even when we’re 5000+ miles away from our own family! Her place is beautiful and fun, just like her! She has a golden personality and her food that we got to learn how to make is spectacular! Thank you, Rosa!

We thought when we signed up for this it was a cooking demonstration and dinner. They did a mini demo of an appetizer then sat for dinner. The dinner was amazing with tons of food and wonderful people, but I was disappointed because I thought she was going to show us food preparation. Her kitchen was very small and there wasn't any way she could do any kind of demonstration.

We thoroughly enjoyed out time with Giovannna, in her lovely home. She was warm and welcoming, and we even were abel to meet her lovely daughters. She prepared a delicious four course meal and walked as through her preparations. My husband, who loves to cook, was able to cook along with her at various points. He loved that. It was a wonderful afternoon.
