The hour long cruise was very relaxed & informative! Just enough for a taste! Absolutely recommend if you’re looking for something to do in Ortigia!

The water was too choppy for sea caves, but the captain adjusted well and gave us a nice tour by boat of the island.
The meet up location was confuing.Viator is just the booking platform it’s never clear who the actual provider is. So we were too late and missed our check in time. The kiosk attendant said to come back in one hour. He found us a spot on the next tour.,s Ninni, the skipper was entertaining and informed. He let us swim for a few minutes in the clear water before heading back. It was a circle around Ortigia as he pointed out several landmark. He also gave a locals recommendation for gelato and a good Sicilian restaurant. Except for the check in confusion, this wouu u is have been a 5 for value.
We did a one hour tour with Ninni who was entertaining and very informative. Loves it!
Such a fun time on the water! The expert boat captain took us into several of the caves, told us some history and even allowed a few adventurous soles to swim!
One hour is quick, but they got us out there. The morning light was great in the caves. Be ready to jump in for your swim. You should bring a towel and some plan for changing out of your swimsuit, since the tour begins at a kiosk and ends at the marina.
This was a very budget friendly tour and I’d say you get what you pay for! It was nice to see Ortigia from the water and going during sunset was pleasant. Our skipper spoke little, and AI audio was played at two stops along the tour. The caves were cool to see, though the stops were very brief. Seems like tours like this are a dime a dozen along the water by the bridge to Ortigia so could be booked once you get there
Checkin with Claudio at the meeting point. Gabriele, our guide, and Franco, our skipper, were attentive and friendly. Gabriele, despite only being employed a month had deep knowledge of the island and its history. He was also well-versed in Italian English and Spanish, making for easy conversation. The water was delightful warm 20°C, I wish we had a little bit more time to swim but the hour that we were out at sea was a great introduction to Ortigia.
Excellent experience and great guide. We went at 6:00pm and saw the sun setting behind the city. Terrific views of the castle, waterfront and caves
Nice boat tour! They explained in italian and had an english tape so that everyone can understand. It is a good activity for its cost!
The Ortigia sea cave boat tour was WELL worth the money! It lasted about an hour, perfect amount of time for a fun boat ride around Ortigia and the cliffs and natural sea caves of Siracusa. Captain NINNI was FULL OF PERSONALITY! He made the ride totally fun AND VERY INFORMATIVE, full of historical facts!
Great price, great guide, helpful shade available to block the hot sun. Bring your own snorkel and mask, swimming is about 10 min time near the sea caves. Fabrizio was a terrific guide! Meeting point is NOT where google maps takes you - instead look for one of the nearby stands that has information about boat tours, and they will connect you to the correct captain. Would definitely recommend. On time, about 1 hr and ten min was just enough time for a nice tour that was not crowded
Wonderful experience! Great guide good experienve for all the family : grand parents parents and childrens . Thanks !!
Efficient planning by the organisers. The boat trip guide was very welcoming and made everyone feel at ease. Good value for money for the time out at sea.
The trip by boat to the sea caves was amazing. Our guide Nuncio was very funny and pleasant guy! We enjoyed on the board and had chance to jump and swim in Ionian sea waters
A fun and informative trip around the sea caves of Siracuse and Ortegia. Gabriel was a fantastic guide with much enthusiasm and local knowledge. He was helpful and keen to make this a good experience. We jumped off the boat to swim in the sea. You have to be able to get down low, kneeling on the boat floor for 2 mins while going under a low bridge. The meeting point is a street stall 5 mins from the harbour.
It was so wonderful, a one in a lifetime experience. Michele, our captain went above and beyond to make sure we had a full experience. Definitely recommend and definitely will book again when in Syracuse. Troppo bello!!!!
The trip was in a small minivan. There were three other people besides us so it was comfortable for all of us. Our guide, Simone, was a pure pleasure, friendly and knowledgeable. Instead of fixed routine he gave us options for the Etna visit. The Taormina part was also well thought out.
Our guide was Ninni and he was just fantastic. My wife and I were on the boat for about 90 minutes. This man is maybe the most passionate person you’ll ever meet about his hometown of Siracusa and Ortigia. His knowledge and storytelling was beyond impressive. Highly recommend!
Did a 2 hour family boat trip, Carmello was very informative on our trip round and caves. Also 2 decent swim breaks, relaxing and most enjoyable ! Would definitly recommend them. Claudio did a really good price for the 6 of us for €100 . You can’t go wrong.
The experience needs to be experienced. Captain NiNi was funny and great. My family and I had a lot of fun
Nice but quick journey around Ortigia island, plan around 45 minutes.
The opening gambit was “I’m Ninni your skipper sorry about that”. By the end of the trip we all agreed. This was meant to be a pleasure trip he wanted constant attention looking around at the beautiful sights I was asked if I was listening and what did he just say. Swimming was just enough time for him to smoke a cigarette. Beautiful coastline and we went into the caves which were lovely. he was knowledgeable but delivery was poor.
Nini the captain was so funny and kind! Very enjoyable ride ! Thank you Nini
Was superb, captain was cool and funny, weather was perfecto, 6 people, plenty of space, i recommend
It was a glorious time out on the water! Marcelo, our captain, made us feel at ease as he navigated us around the island and in and out of some spectacular caves filled with most amazing iridescent water. I particularly loved the stalactite cave. I would highly recommend you take this tour!
A short boat excursion accompanied by a boat captain who shared historical information and humorous quips. We had three couples as passengers. There was a shade cover and the breeze was lovely. It was interesting to see the caves.
Boat operator (Nani) was excellent. Very personable and knowledgeable. Nani was good with us asking many questions. Tour was an hour long which was sufficient.
Really a good idea to see some of the main fortresses and monuments from the sea. And going under the bridge at the end was fun
Nuncio from Syracuse Excursions’ boat trip was so funny, knowledgeable and nice. Really. He knew all facts about history, and we felt really, really safe although the waters were wavy. It was wonderful to get some breeze. None of us wanted to hop in and swim, but it was a definite choice. Very funny, and as mentioned, genuinely a nice fella. Highly, highly recommend tours with him especially, and with Syracuse Boat trips in general. Good customer service from end to end. So nice people! As advertised - which is rare in this world these days. Worth every minute. I thought it was “just a tourist trap”, but it was good historical facts, safe, nice with breeze when warm, and romantic and funny. Perfect. We had deaf people on board, no problem Nuncio talked to them slowly, so they could lip-read. Perfect and nice! Only thing is: if you’re not strong on waves, maybe take the trip on a very, very calm sea-day. Otherwise, a wonderful outing. Excellent!!
What an experience, boat trip around the caves, saw a pair of dolphins as a bonus & then the skipper stopped off so we could have a swim
You need to experience Siracusa from the water! The views are breath taking and being on the water was very serene. Ninni our captain was a great guide and fun to spend time with. It was to cold to go in the water but I wanted to!
A most enjoyable boat trip around Ortigia bay. V good value. Felt utterly safe. Excellent commentary. Would highly recommend.
Carmelo gave us a great trip - very safe boat helmsman end patoient at explaininbg the features we passed by.
Highly recommend this trip. The caves are fabulous, and seeing Ortigia from the sea is a great experience. Staff all lovely. Thought the price was very reasonable
It was a really nice experience. We had a super friendly tour guide called Enuncio. A great way of seeing Syracusa and its beautiful water.
The trip was great, we had a really good time. The views were really beautiful and Nunzio made this into a nice experience. 10/10 tour 🤗
We had such a fun day exploring the sea caves and seeing Ortigia from the water! We Definitely recommend it!
We were walked from the meeting point to the boat quickly and with a friendly guide. He brought us eight to the boat and made sure we got on safely. We were the only two on the small boat with Numzio, our captain. He showed us all of the sites, special rock formations, historical areas and brought us into 3 caves. Nuncio answered all of our questions in perfect English and translated some words for us in Italian. This trip was about an hour, 20 minutes and was worth the cost.
A highlight of our trip. Our tour guide was great and knew English very well. Very funny and informative. He also recommended restaurants and sights to see. Boat was pretty well kept and comfortable to ride in. Our boat ride was around 45 minutes long; time probably depends on the condition of the water. We went at 4 PM (sunset) in November and the weather was great.
The day we went was windy so our older captain decided not to take us into either caves (the whole point of this tour) while the rest of our group was with a different captain and boat and he took them into both caves. We also saw other boats going into the caves. Ours did not!! BEWARE!!
This was a great way to see the beautiful island from the water. Unfortunately the waves became too big during our tour on the one side of the island. Our great guide realized this and was very cautious about how far we went out and turned around when it was no longer safe. We returned to a calmer side of the water with amazing views. Lots of great history information from our tour guide as well.
Really beautiful day to be out on the water and our guide was such a friendly person! Highly recommended
It might be a little bumpy! If you're afraid of getting wet, wear your rain coat. Ninni (wrong spelling) was an excellent guide,a bit cheeky and knowledgeable.
The boat ride was nice but very short. We thought we were going on a 1 1/4 hour boat ride and were only on the boat for 45 minutes. The captain of the boat was okay but he tried to joke with the passengers, but some of the jokes came out just sounding rude. Also, there were two different meet up point for the excursion, one further away from the boat, which seemed unnecessary. Just have people meet at the boat.
This was a great experience. Captain Ninni was a sure hand at the tiller and everyone on the boat had an unforgettable experience.
Nice small boat trip out to see caves and around headland to other side of Ortigia (fort area). Good way to see the place. Remember to duck when you return to the harbour under the low bridge.
Matt was very friendly and chatty. He gave us a brief overview of where we were and a short history about the caves and surrounding Syracusa sites
The guide Nuncio was very nice and managed the tour perfectly. We went into some of the caves with the boat which was very nice, and we got some notes on Ortigia as we circled it. The guide also offered a stop for swimming but we passed (early October is a bit chilly). The only missing thing was maybe a deeper dive into the history of Syracuse and Ortigia
It was a fantastic 90 tour around the island although weather did not permit snorkeling in the caves as promised. Captain Merko and his assistant were very knowledgable and we swam at another location beside an interesting house with a pool that had partially slid into the ocean about 20 years ago. I hight recommend this tour company - had a great trip.
