This tour was informative and the sites are incredible It was nice to see the temples in the sunset and then lit at night.
What an amazing experience. Our guide, Nicoletta, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the site, which helped us appreciate the history even more. The tour was only two hours long, so it’s not a huge commitment. We strongly recommend the 4:45 tour in order to see the sunset and the temple’s illuminated.
One of the highlights of our trip! Visiting the. Alley of the Temples without a great guide would be such a waste. Our guide was able to help us envision life and the settlement back then. I will treasure this tour memory always.
Sarah was great. Lots of info but let the magnificent sites speak for themselves.
Our guide Lorenzo , met us at the beginning of the tour. He was exceptional and I learned so much! It was a wonderful place to visit but not if you have mobility issues. Lots of steps and stone walks. Being water if it is a hot day!
Great day. Saw amazing ruins and temples. Perfect amount of time. A little walking but not rigorous.
We only had 4 days on Sicily and were not sure whether it was worth the longish trek to get to Agrigento. It was! We took the "Sunset Tour" option and, quite simply, it was a stunning evening. Our very knowledgeable and entertaining guide combined ancient history, natural history and more modern history into a seamless narrative. Highly recommended. One word of warning: the road signs to the upper car park are not the most helpful. Follow the Viator SatNav instructions to get to the car park.
Perfect amount of time. Not too long. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and considerate. Must see all of the ruins and temples. It’s breathtaking.
Guide was monotone and BORING. He didn’t engage us at all. We looked at several interesting archaeological sites but most of the time he was talking about lots of other stuff that was not archaeological and very boring. I guess he had to fill the time because if you went on your phone without a tour the whole park could’ve been seen in 30 minutes but he had to stretch it out to two hours for the tour so we had to do a lot of talking about stuff that we weren’t interested in.
Everything was great. Our guide was very informed. It was a very cool place to see.
Rosanna was an amazing host and she was knowledgeable about the history and culture behind the location. Fantastic tour with just enough walking and stopping.
This 2-hour guided tour was excellent. Our guide, Rossana, was friendly and very knowledgeable. The pace of the tour was perfect -- not rushed in the least -- and there was plenty of time for photos and questions. Learning about the history and cultural context of the temples and other sights greatly enriched the experience.
Great experience, Luigi was fantastic.
Thoroughly enjoyable and informative. Our guide was very engaging and combined his love for Agrigento with a great sense of humor!
Wholeheartedly recommend! The temples of course are amazing, but our guide was both very knowledgeable and engaging - a highlight of our trip to Sicily.
Nicola was fantastic! So kind so knowledgeable, born and raised here. Both his parents are also tour guides.
Your was really good. The guide was very professional in both knowledge and presentation. Highly recommended
The tour and experience was great. The tour group was not too large and the guide was very informative and knowledgeable. He suffered a bee sting on his way to the temple and suffered an injury to his upper lip making talking difficult but he continued without complaining and with humour. Overall a worthwhile experience.
I did not think our guide was sincere. But he was knowledgeable enough and responsible for the group.
This was the worst tour I booked through Tripadvisor (and the first negative tour review for me). Valley of the temples is magnificent but you need a good guide to understand it properly, and that’s why we booked the tour well in advance. . This tour which is called a”small group tour “ was actually a large group. The guide, although a nice guy, did not speak English well enough to be well understood and to provide full commentary (I am sure his tours in Italian are much better). Given that it was a large group, he was also in a hurry, spoke too fast given his heavy accent, and had a difficult time to communicate. It was the first time since a had a guided tour, that I actually had to not follow the guide and resort to reading a guide book instead! It was really disappointing. Several people in our group commented on this inadequate and not understandable explanations as well. Given that we had to leave the next day, we could not take another tour in the morning. The company sent me many emails asking for honest feedback, but did not offer any compensation or solution despite my feedback even during the tour. I would highly recommend to visit the Valley of the Temples but to choose a good English speaking guide from a different company to get a full experience.
We very much enjoyed our tour, our guide was very knowledgeable, amusing and was very willing to answer all our questions. We did the sunset tour which finished around 7pm, we started at the east gate and finished at the west gate. By the time we had made our way back to the starting point we missed the bus back to Agrigento. There were a few of us in a similar position but fortunately managed to do a taxi share back.
We learned so much from our guide. He was lively and informative and made the experience even better.
Informative. Great tour guide. We have used Viator for many years and have always been pleased with the expert tour guide and sites. This tour met up to our previous standards. The guide was informative and excited about telling us about the temples. She gave us much history about Sicily as well. She was great and answering questions that we had during the tour.
We enjoyed our sunset tour of the Valley of the Temples. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. The sites are fantastic. The only drawback was that when the tour ended we were nowhere near our parked car or the other exit where we had to walk a half hour to grab a taxi back to our car.
The Valley of the Temples was amazing! Our guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. Our main complaint is that the tour ended no where near an exit so we had to walk a considerable distance to take a taxi back to our car.
Wow. Viator never disappoints when we book a tour with them. Another exceptional tour experience. Our tour guide was passionate and informative and engaging. We learned so much about the culture and the temples. Thank you to everyone who helps put this together. We will continue to use Viator as we learn about our beautiful cultures.
Our tour guide, Marco, was the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide! He clearly loves his job which made the tour even more fascinating. He answered everyone's questions and made sure we saw and fully understood the history of the temples. I highly recommend going late afternoon because by the time the 2 hour tour is completed, the temples will be lit up which is a beautiful sight to see!
horrible too big of a group 20 people Tour guy just talked It was like a record recording. He did not allow for questions. It would’ve been easier to save our money and walk through ourselves. Also, the tour ended in a completely different place from where we started. No one knew where to go or how to get back it
Luigi was a brilliant guide. We left this tour with an understanding of the political and social impact of the development of the site in Agrigento and Sicily as a whole. Recommend this tour for singles, couples, or families.,
Our guide from Towns of Italy was excellent!
Be prepared for a long walk with lots of detailed facts about the site. That was sometimes interesting, occasionally boring for me.
Lots...lots...of walking. But well worth it if you can handle two-and-a-half hours on foot in intense summer-ish heat as we did. Stunning temples and fascinating history.
Skipper Francesco was happy, friendly and very accommodating! He explained the sites in 2 languages and made the 3.5 hour boat ride a joy! Swimming in the Mediterranean was a dream come true!
We are really pleased we did this tour but the reality is it could have just as easily been done with a recording rather than a person. The guide's accent was very strong and we were flooded with information. Flipping through battered photo copies that were difficult to see/comprehend was not an effective way to pass on information. Overall it was not value for money.
Enza was an amazing tour guide, this tour is so worth it! We learnt so much not just about the temples/archeological site but about local culture as well- we appreciated seeing the pistachio and almond trees and more!
Amazing tour. Enza was such a knowledgable and friendly guide: we learned so much not just about the valley of the temples but lots about local history and facts, we loved how Enza pointed out the almond and pistachio trees and told us about the local plants as well as so much about ancient times. Incredible value for money!
Great tour. Guide was very friendly and interested in group as well as providing the detail we wanted. Enjoyed the tour alot.
Good set up with parking and shuttle buses. Highly recommend the guide app, where you can go at your own pace and receive very good information on your phone. The garden is not necessary to visit if you are not very interested in ordinary trees. Bring water, it can get very hot.
Truly incredible to see antiquities so close . Our guide really explained the history and stories surrounding the valley very well indeed . She told stories of current Sicilian traditions that had origins in the past .
Fabulous tour with Rosanna. 8 people total in our group, she had a lot of knowledge of the temples. Bring water and wear sneakers!
Very interesting and a great history lesson. The guide was very knowledgeable about all the temples and time frames and the ancient city
This was an interesting tour at a reasonable price. Our guide (didn’t get his name) was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and the area. Two negatives: 1. The organisation is a bit chaotic. The meeting point is actually outside the ticket office (as you can’t get in without a ticket) and not by the temple. Also our guide was running about trying to find people, so it got a bit confusing as to what was happening. 2. We did this tour during the heatwave. It was still 40c at 5pm which was overwhelming. More than half the group abandoned the tour before the end. The guide tried to keep us in the shade as much as possible but a lot of the tour is walking in the heat so be warned!
Great time, tour guide was well educated and entertaining. Beautiful ruins and a top excursion of our family Sicily trip.
Marvellous location, with well preservdd temples. If you are interest in ancient greek history, this is a must see. The guide was very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Could not have been better. Again, takd this tour
Our tour guide was excellent. He was very informative. It was extremely hot which made it difficult. However our tour guide made sure we were very hydrated.
The guide was very clean, very good English.
It was a perfect afternoon for a visit. It looked like it's going to rain but it didn't so it was cool. The only inconvenience that we had was that Viator is sending a map with the meeting point marked inside of the exhibition, which is very confusing. But the star of the show was our guide Luigi. He really put in a lot of effort to engage us and make us realize how important this place is. We had a great time, the best so far in Sicily.
Our guided tour was very informative and worth having someone explain the history of the area. It was a relaxing stroll, the view of the city and the countryside were amazing. We were able to get very close to the temples. It is worth doing it in the late afternoon as the sun was setting and the temples were nicely illuminated for fabulous pictures. After the tour, you are able to wonder on your own to enjoy the experience more.
Interesting place to visit. It was hot! There was a small child in our group and a dog. The child was struggling and distracting. Our tour guide Rosanna was terrific.
