Excellent guide. We enjoyed all the topics
Serena gave a great overview of the history of the Ragusa region over the centuries followed by an interesting tour of the upper & lower parts of the city.
Lovely day with Serena. Very informative. Learned a great deal on a walking tour.
Very informative and interesting. Serena was very knowledgeable and shared pertinent information about the area.
We had a 3 1/2 hour walking tour with Serena Pizzo. She was fantastic. Her knowledge of everything Ragusa brought the experience alive. There was no question we could ask that she couldn’t answer. It was expensive but worth every cent. After this I felt one with Ragusa.
Serena was the best! She was an excellent tour guide who was very informative...and patient with us (and the rainy weather)—two American tourists who had no knowledge of the Ragusa area and its extensive baroque history. Ragusa is spectacular, but we would not have appreciated any of the history, architecture, and culture had it not been for Serena. We were in Sicily for three weeks, did lots of tours in multiple cities, but everyone was a distant second to Serena.
Our guide Serena did a terrific job, bringing lots of energy and knowledge about the city and the region's history and architecture.
Selina was amazing! We arrived late but she communicated with us the whole time and arranged an alternative meeting spot and provided directions (and even the bus timetable) and then tailored the tour to suit. We were the only people on the tour, and she provided lots of detailed information about the history and architecture (and was happy for us to stop for photos - even of cats). Selina could not have been more helpful and lovely, and we would highly recommend the tour.
We took The Discovering Ragusa Baroque walking tour in early May 2026 while on a day trip from Catania on the fifth leg of a five week visit to Sicily. To get to Ragusa we took an easy two hour early morning bus trip from the Etna bus terminal in Catania (about a 15 minute walk from our B&B on Piazza Cutelli off Via Vittorio Emanuele II) and then a taxi from the Ragusa bus station to San Giovanni Battista Cathedral which was the meeting point for the tour. Over the next three hours our small group of four led by the knowledgeable and animated Serena guided us at a relaxed pace on and instructive walk from Ragusa Superiore down to Ragusa Ibla via a series of impressive staircases, passing by various Baroque-style cathedrals, churches and palazzos and visiting the interior of two impressive cathedrals and several churches. The tour ended at Giardino Ibleo a beautifully manicured garden dating back to the 19th Century, an oasis with fountains, seating areas, churches and panoramic views. After the tour we had a delightful and restorative lunch at nearby Salumeria Barocco (reviewed separately). We then took a taxi back to the bus station in Ragusa Superiore and caught the bus back to Catania just in time for a light dinner. Overall and thanks to Serena, the Discovering Ragusa Baroque tour was a great way to get a curated taste of Ragusa’s rich Baroque heritage in a limited amount of time.
Wonderful and insightful tour. You’ll learn about the wonderful history and walk from one end of the town to the other. While stopping and taking in the beautiful architecture. This is a tour that leans more towards educational purposes and historical context rather than modern day cultural experiences and exploration.
Informative tour comes highly recommended. Serena was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Ragusa.
Fantastic walking tour with guide Serena. This was a lovely tour covering both upper Ragusa and the beautiful lower Ragusa Ibla. Serena has a deep knowledge of the region and we learned a lot about both sections of the city, while stopping at numerous churches and palazzos. There were numerous amazing photo opportunities as well. Ragusa is well worth visiting and this tour is highly recommended.
We started in Ragusa Superior and wandered through the area and then into Ragusa Ibla, working our way downhill. It's a lot of walking with many stairs, so not for those with mobility issues. The Baroque style pointed out on the buildings and inside the churches is beautiful and something we don't always take the time to notice. We ended in the garden, which is stunning and shouldn't be missed. As for our guide, she was absolutely the best! Thorough, knowledgeable, and a person you want to spend time with. 💖
Serena provided us with a wealth of knowledge about both the architecture and the history of Ragusa. We would have missed so much without her guidance. She is extremely knowledgeable and presented in a fun and entertaining way. It was a pleasure spending the afternoon with her.
We had an excellent walking tour with Serena. She shared a wealth of knowledge about the Baroque architecture in both upper and lower Ragusa, along with rich historical context and insights into the local culture, people, and cuisine across different periods. Many architectural details can easily be overlooked by an untrained eye, both inside and outside the city’s buildings. Serena highlighted these features and brought them to life with the stories and meanings behind them. This tour was truly a great value and highly worthwhile.
Serena gave an impressive detailed explanation of the history and architecture of upper and Ragusa Ibla. We thoroughly enjoyed our time which was an easy stroll down the slopes of Ragusa.
Excellent tour. Serena is a very knowledgable guide with excellent English. She conducts a very informative and entertaining tour
Serena was very knowledgeable and included lots of stories about the old, Ibla, and newer Ragusa’s including architecture, churches and piazzas
Very informative and interesting tour. Serena spoke very good English and she was clearly very knowledgeable about the history of the town
Serena was incredibly informative and related the information in a calm and focused manner. She was extremely patient and kind in answering all questions. Would highly recommend this tour if u want to know more about the history. Wear comfortable sneakers as many steps to walk. But done casually.
This tour was perfect, exactly what we were hoping for, super informative and very interesting history of Ragusa. Serena was both knowledgeable and friendly. We would highly recommend this tour!
Our guide Serena took us on a wonderful tour of Ragusa Ibla starting from Ragusa Superiore. On the way we learnt about the history of Ragusa and its surrounding areas, the baroque style of architecture, saw beautiful buildings and walked the pretty garden of Ibla. Serena presented her detailed knowledge in an easy to understand and interesting manner. She was brilliant. I highly recommend this tour.
Very detailed and comprehensive experience with Serena. Highly recommend. Serena has deep knowledge of history and architecture.
Serena was an excellent guide with positive energy and a lively way of brining the past to life. We visited many churches in this waking tour and she managed to keep it interesting and even fun.
We met a wonderful guide today named Serena. I was amazed at the depth of her knowledge about the history of the area and in particular The many different people who had invited Sicily. Because of the variety of the intruders Sicily is made up from many nationalities.Serena made the walking tour very interesting with entry to beautiful churches and detailed information about them was very impressive and so very informative. I would recommend people book with Serena and they will not be disappointed.
Fantastic tour. Serena was a lovely, funny, friendly guide. Relaxing walk covering many churches, history and interesting facts. A definite to do in Ragusa
Our guide Serena was brilliant she knew her history and all the knowledge about every church that we went to.She was always engaged and looked happy with her job.Luckily we were the only ones but she did say she only does small groups and i think we went over time which she wasnt worried about. 10 out of 10 Serena thanks
Best historical guide in Ragusa. We learned so much from Serena, she was knowledgeable and spoke very clearly we enjoyed our afternoon learning
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a very detailed history of the architecture, culture and more. She was very accommodating with our schedule and she was very friendly
Rather than wander on my own, I really wanted to learn more about Ragusa’s history, and Serena delivered! Churches are usually boring for me, but Serena explained the history and shared interesting facts to give more context about what we were looking at. It was a great way to see all the major sites in a single shot, perfect if you’re short on time. I would love to have even more storytelling, but it was great!
Serena is very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into Ragusa and it’s main sights. She also gave us some great tips of other places to visit and how to get about. We would recommend anyone take the tour as a way to introduce yourself to the area.
We had a wonderful tour. Serena is very knowledgeable about history architecture and art in Sicily and especially this region and the baroque period. She is warm and generous with recommendations for further exploration and she gave us some great tips for restaurants and places to visit elsewhere in the area. You will feel fortunate just to meet such a person and will end the day with a rich appreciation for your visit.
We spent a lovely afternoon with Serena, who was friendly and knowledgable and took her time to show us the amazing architecture that Ragusa has to offer. We learned so much history and Serena shows us several very special churches and built an interesting story around them. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting. We have decided to come back and stay in Ragusa, just by going on this tour.
This was a really nice tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and provided not only a history or Ragusa but also of Sicily in general. Plan enough time to park in the lower town and take a bus to Ragusa Superiore to start the tour or vice versa.
Serena was lovely and very informative. Tour was a bit long, maybe a few less churches and more about the town.
If you're staying in Ragusa or only have a few hours to explore, I highly recommend taking a tour with Serena. She brings both sides of the city to life with engaging stories about Ragusa's rich heritage. Her extensive knowledge of each site, combined with her thoughtful itinerary, ensures you'll visit some of the most scenic spots in all of Sicily. The tour was exceptionally well-organized, and I'm so grateful for the experience. Thank you, Serena!
Amazing! We loved every minute of the guided tour. Our tour guide Serena deserves 5 stars! Serena was extremely informative and she really knows her history. Serena is thoughtful as we started the tour at the top and descended down the hill toward Ibla. What can I say we loved every minute. Thank you Serena for keeping us informed by WhatsApp and for you kind patience. You are a Star!
Serena was amazing. She contacted us in advance of the tour and gave us personalized guidance on how to arrive from our hotel to the tour. The tour as such was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed an amazing walk from Upper Ragusa down to Ragusa Ibla, including 300 steps, with Serena. We visited the important churches on the way and she explained the different typical balconies to us. Not only was Serena knowledgeable, she made the Baroque era come alive with her passion. We also had a lot of fun together. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We highly recommend Serena as guide for anyone who wants get to know Ragusa's and Sicily's vast history.

Absolutely the best way to experience Ragusa. Were able to see Ragusa from new town to Ragusa Ibla. Serena was the best guide, very knowledgeable about Sicilian and Ragusa history
Serene is very knowledgeable about history. She gave us some nice restaurant recommendations. We enjoyed our time with her.
Serena was a terrific guide: great tour. Additionally, she was extremely helpful in providing us with excellent advice both before and during the tour. For example, she gave excellent suggestions as to other sights in the area and regarding restaurants (as she noted, many are closed in January). Delightful tour guide.
Serena was a wonderful guide. From detailed historical information to architectural details to tips on food, drink and restaurants, she was fantastic. So knowledgable and with a great sense of humor.
Nothing in particular . Our guide had a lot of historical information to share and took us all around the city.
