Great location in Ortigia. Rooms were strangely configured and had an upstairs. Empty room with a couch. Kind of useless space. The internet also did not work in my room so I had to go to the lobby every time I wanted to check email. You could also hear everything going on in the rooms next to you. Fantastic breakfast on the roof with a great view.
Our experience with them was as expected from a five star hotel. We had our wedding reception here and thanks to Ma’Am Cinzia every part of the night went smoothly and according to plan. Food was a delicious experience and its view romantic and decadent. Highly recommend it for a formal and intimate dinner. Very satisfied!
It is certainly bad business for a 5-star hotel to offer services that match a 2-star one at best. Air conditioning loud and very unstable Bathtub is just an ornament because it did not work at all. The safe was broken And on top of that the charged me 70 euros extra a night for the “upgrade” with a view. I would have prefer no upgrade and the room in good condition. How is it possible for a hotel of this level nit to check the room before????? Horrible experience!! I would not recommend this hotel. C Cappellini
We just completed a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Ortigia. We highly recommend staying at the Grand Hotel Ortigia. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot right on the water. The rooms were the standard size of an Italian Hotel and had a very modern bathroom. The bed was comfortable as we prefer a firm mattress and the air conditioning was adjustable in the room and was plenty cool for the very warm temperatures outside. But what made this hotel standout was the staff. Everyone who works here from the servers in the restaurant, to the cleaning attendants, the bell man, Fortunato, and all the front desk staff were excellent. One staff member who stood out was Emanuele at the front desk. My wife left her hearing aid charger on the airplane. Emanuele called a local hearing aid store and was able to locate a compatible charger for us. He was so professional, empathetic and kind to my wife. She was extremely grateful for all his efforts.

One of the absolute highlights of our stay was breakfast on the spectacular rooftop terrace. Enjoying a delicious breakfast each morning while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views over the harbour and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea was an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect way to start each day and is something we'll always remember. The staff were outstanding from the moment we arrived. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely committed to making our stay unforgettable. Their attention to detail and willingness to help with anything we needed made us feel truly valued as guests. The breakfast itself was excellent, with a fantastic selection of fresh, high-quality food, and the rooftop setting made every meal feel extra special. The hotel's atmosphere perfectly combines luxury, comfort, and authentic Sicilian hospitality. This was one of the highlights of our wedding anniversary trip, and we couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate such a special occasion. We would highly recommend Grand Hotel Ortigia to anyone visiting Syracuse and Ortigia, and we can't wait to return. Five stars all the way!
